Character Creation Guide
Creating a new character is a very exciting task. You may already have an idea in mind or you may need some more information to get inspired. Either way, this guide exists to help you get started roleplaying as quickly as possible.
Getting Started
To start, consider what kind of character you want to roleplay as. How is your character unique from other characters, and how do they fit into the world itself?
Use the following questions and links to help define your character.
What are they? - Race List
Where are they from? - Location Guide
Still need more help? Scroll down to our Character Creation F.A.Q. to see if the answer to your quest is there.
Want to read more world lore? Visit the Lore sub board for all our lore related threads including information on Charon's technology, the Pantheon, important organizations, and more.
New Character Checklist
The following three steps must be completed before your character can be reviewed by a member of staff. If you do not have these three threads created, you may not start roleplaying with your character.
Character Description - this is where you describe who your character is, what they look like, how they act, and what their history is.
Inventory Page - this is where you will keep track of your skills, abilities, class features, items, and anything else that gives your character a mechanical advantage in something. Anything you buy, get gifted, craft, or acquire in a giveaway must go in your Inventory Page.
First purchase thread - this is your very first purchase thread created in Shop Transactions using the template from the Sale's Counter Guide.
Once you have completed all three of the above steps, let a member of staff know through Discord so they can quickly review and check that there are no issues. Once a member of staff adds you to the green Active Character role in Discord, you are all good to start roleplaying!

Inventory Page
To create a new Inventory Page, you will post a new thread to the Inventory Pages sub board.
Your new Inventory Page can be organized however you like, but it must keep a record of anything that gives your character any mechanical advantage. This includes Skills, Spells, Abilities, Items, Grafts, Tattoos, Vehicles, Homes, Prestige Classes, Subclasses, etc.
Whenever you make a purchase from a shop, receive a gift, claim a giveaway reward, or craft something the new thing must be added to your inventory. You do not need to wait for a purchase to be fulfilled in order to add items to your inventory, but your inventory must match your cumulative purchase threads.
It's a good idea to look at other player's Inventory Pages to get an idea for how you want to organize your own inventory. You can even ask other users for their code if you want to copy their formatting.

First purchase thread
In order to complete your Inventory Page, you must also complete your first purchase thread. For this, you will need to spend some time deciding what starting Skills you want to have and what abilities or items you want to buy using your starting Solars (in-game currency).
Your first purchase thread needs to be posted to the Shop Transactions sub board and include which starting Skills you are claiming and anything you purchase using your available Solars. These things then need to be added to your Inventory Page.
Please use the Purchasing Template found in the Sales Counter Guide to complete your first purchase thread.
You do not have to wait for the purchase to be fulfilled to start using abilities in your threads. If you buy an ability and have an ongoing thread, double check with your roleplay partner before using that ability in the thread.
You will need to make a new purchase thread if you want to buy additional abilities after your first purchase thread is fulfilled. If you have an unfulfilled purchase thread, you can add more abilities to it by editing the thread so long as you have the Solars necessary to make the purchase.

When you make a new character, you get to claim TWO free Novice level Skills and automatically gain 50 Solars to your character profile to spend in the Bazaar.

Character Journal (optional)
Sometimes you may have information you want to keep a record of but do not want it to live in your Character Description or your Inventory Page. This can include keeping a personal timeline for your threads, writing in-character opinions on other characters they have interacted with, or collections of in-character things like poems your character has written or research they are conducting.
For this extraneous information, you can create a Character Journal thread in the Character Journals sub board.
This is completely optional and not necessary to get started, but it can be handy to help you track your own progress in the Renown System or how many Mystical Archive tickets you have earned or redeemed as these rewards do not automatically update the same way your earned Solars do.
