Hylltywyll braced himself behind the wall of light as a wave of force suddenly burst out from the center of the area. He was glad the wall had already been there. With how quick and unexpected the force was, he wouldn't have been able to do anything to protect himself in time, and healing himself could be quite annoying considering his condition. Even the connection between him and the healer he was standing next to would be useless to him. Maybe the healer wouldn't mind him taking a bite if he needed to, but hopefully it wouldn't come to that. What was more concerning than the wave of force was that everything around them had suddenly changed. The fields of grass, gone. The ground erupted to replace all of it with the cobblestone streets and alleyways between stone towers and walls of some kind of city. Hylltywyll flickered through the vision of everyone he'd formed a mental connection with, seeing the same sight from each of them. All three of them flew above, giving him an aerial view of the city stronghold everyone was suddenly trapped in. He could see flying drakes with knights approaching Kamille, Morrigan, and Astrid and ordering them to land. And they weren't the only ones being approached. Knights came from around corners and clattered up to him and Kvasir, ordering them both to throw down their weapons. He didn't know who this queen was, but fuck her! He didn't respect authority, and that wasn't going to change even if they did change this whole field into a city. Hylltwyll conjured his own wall of light, his taking on a dull purple, and interposed it between him and the knights to hold them off as he also used his magic to open a hole in the wall nearby. "Let's go!" He stated firmly through the inked marking into Kvasir's mind as he scurried through the hole, waiting just barely for Kvasir to also enter before releasing the magic and sealing it back into a solid wall. He looked around at where they'd ended up, seeing where they could continue moving.

Post by Lady Astrid Stormstone on Aug 4, 2024 17:13:08 GMT -5
Just as soon as Astrid gets back near Morrigan and Buttfellow at the right flank, Astrid sees something that surprises her: Cypress is rushing toward the middle of the battlefield. “Cypress..?” Panic sets in quickly. “CYPRESS, WHAT THE HECK ARE YA–”Suddenly, an explosive wall of force fires off at the entire battlefield. Before she manages to pull her arm up, a bolt of protective lightning fires down from above, absorbing the hit for her. [1] At the same time, the spirit near her attempts to protect Astrid, but the bolt of lightning cuts it off, and instead, the spirit manages to at least defend Arcus from the explosion. [2] Force rushes past them, only a strong wind. Buttfellow, Blupee, and Spicy Pawsage are not so lucky. With no protections of their own, they all take the full brunt of the hit. [3,4,5] The larger golem stumbles back and then falls on its metal ass, nearly smashes Spicy Pawsage in the process, who also gets blown back off his feet with a yelp. Blupee gets tossed through the air and tumbles through the grass, bits of paper strewn about. Once he recovers, he starts gathering the blown apart bits and bops and rushes back to his big companion though looks to Astrid with some desperation for protection in his bookish face. Buttfellow grumbles mechanically and gets back to his feet. Spicy Pawsage is not having a good time, limping as he stands. At the rear flank, Bstrid heard Vail calling to her, and while she doesn’t recognize him, she can still help! She rushes in his direction only for the wall of force to hit her back and absolutely obliterate the Replicant in a small poof of purple magics. [6]Cstrid and Dstrid have been keeping near Kvasir and the others and are luckily protected from the blast by his Wall of Light. The Replicants share a relieved glance when the blast smashes into the Snow Fort cast around Cypress and doesn’t actually hit Cypress at all. Cstrid rushes out to the satyr to check on her. “Cypress! Oi! Are ya alright?!” she calls, dumping herself into the Snow Fort and worriedly checking her over for injuries with all the care and attention that a loved one could possibly. In this moment, she very much resembles Cantio fussing over Astrid. With the rest of the group, Dstrid looks between their various allies and sees Spicy Pawsage limping. She calls out to him, giving him a good ruffle of the ears and petting him to calm him down, kissing his nose, and then reassuring him that it’ll be alright. Then, she promptly stores him away in the protective pocket dimension. [7]Meanwhile, back at the center of the field… When Astrid looks back where the Duplipress had been, she sees nothing. “C-Cypress? CYPRESS?!” She grabs the reins and urges Arcus on as quickly as possible, looking for the satyr wherever she can when suddenly the environment shifts and changes around her. Where did she go? Is she alright? Whipping her head around, Astrid glances one of her Replicants booking it for a pile of snow with brown hair poking out from behind it. Palpable relief washes through the half-dwarf, but only for a minute because things have taken another turn. They’re surrounded by Knights of Duros and WEF members making demands, and they are no longer in the field. There are so many knights… What if they’re the ones who went missing earlier? More fae crap. Feeling herself rightly pissed at everything, Astrid takes a deep breath to steel her nerves. And then Morrigan opens their big mouth. Very convincing, Buttweaver… A familiar zone lacking magic wraps around them, and Astrid steers well clear of that crap. Last time they used it near her, she struggled to do anything. Still, these knights are angry. They’re making weird demands, and if they’re truly Knights of Duros, then… “Oi, oi, oi!” Astrid says, interposing herself between the knights and the rest of the group as best she can. “Like they said, we’re on the same side!” Whatever is causing problems on this battlefield very well might have mind controlled these knights the same way it did the Deeptusks! She catches a glimpse of the sheer number of knights across the battlefield and draws on the magic inside of her. Astrid presents her badge, glowing proudly and bright for the knights in her immediate area to see, the same symbol they don: the symbol of the Knights of Duros. Her voice booms loudly across the entire battlefield, amplified by magic and rolling through the streets like rolling thunder that blocks out other sounds. [8] She speaks with full confidence, imagining how Leandros might address a group like this. “I’m Lady Astrid Stormstone a’ Dragon’s Cradle, a Knight a’ Duros, member a’ the Winged Expeditionary Force, Mage’s Guild, Golden Consortium, ex-member a’ the Fighter’s Guild, an’ founder a’ The Tinkertons! I’ve fought Ziev an’ Vulcadreaus both fer the protection a’ Charon, just like other folks here! The adventurers here mean ya no harm an’ are fightin’ an entity in an effort ta protect Thunderhoof Village from a mysterious magic that’s proven ta affect the minds a’ those that it touches. The Knights a’ Duros called on our assistance, an’ these folks answered the call. We’re here ta work together ta defeat the creature that’s threatenin’ the people a’ Charon. Don’t raise yer blades against us, lift them ta fight at our sides!! Flush out the entity that’s usin’ the innocent as pawns and destroy it! FOR CHARON!!”[9] She raises her hammers to the air, pumping them up in an attempt to get the crowd riled up. Oh yeah, that speech felt pretty darn good. Hopefully, it reaches the ears of all in the town and keeps the knights from attacking allies.

Post by Lady Kamille Verlithax on Aug 4, 2024 18:14:26 GMT -5
The happiness in seeing Fish amidst that chaos is short-lived, and despite expecting something dramatic to happen as the force field hit them, it was still surprising and unpleasant when it did. Kamille held onto Kalaf’s saddle, as she felt the disturbance in his flight. Like a good dainty mage, Kamille had managed to spend her life away from other people’s fists, and had successfully arranged as to never be graced with punch to the face, even when she deserved it. That is what she assumed a punch to the face felt like, as the force wall hit them: stars popped up before her eyes, swirling around as to confuse her which way was up or down [1]. She found her rock soon enough: Kalaf was the constant, and she would not be separated from the drake if she didn’t want to [2].
An annoyed roar beneath her confirmed the old drake was less than satisfied with the outcome, taking himself the impact too, even if she felt it wasn’t as grave of an issue for a resilient beast like himself [3]. Yet, the drake’s rage was once again rising, and his massive jaws clenched with impatience, as if expecting to bite down on something.
When Kamille finally, fully returned to the present, she realized… She was not really in the present? The skies changed color, the background was another one entirely…
And they were trying to arrest her? The audacity!
The mocking chuckle in the back of her mind rang louder though…
Tricks.
Think.
The Witch didn’t know that King’s Valley. Was it an illusion? Were they transported back in time? Or perhaps into another dimension? There was a chance the civilians were actually innocent people, and if so, she wouldn’t risk their safety.
It suddenly dawned on her that Fish was no longer with her, off to pursue their own ideas. Quickly, Kamille pulled out her inkwell, applying to herself the same mark she applied on Fish [4]. And the first thing she would do was to touch base with her favorite criminal:
Is this an illusion, Fish? I’m gonna try to stall until we’re sure these aren’t innocent people. Tell me if you need me to do anything. Love you!
Kalaf yearned for something to bite down on, but the Witch tried to calm him down. There is going to be a time, Kalaf, but not now. The drake flew in circles above the group gathered, restless, but keeping his pointy ends and flammable kisses to himself for the time being.
Down there, she saw as a group of knights approached the group. The drake hussar immediately took her attention, as she assumed she would take priority on their list.
Knights of Duros, boss. Five. And a drake hussar, with the WEF colors. What should I do?
Hide. Don’t attack yet. Protect Hektor and the rest.
Poe was quick to report what was going on on the ground through the black feather she wore on her chest [5], but that didn’t make things easier.
Perhaps she should try a different angle… Perhaps Fish had a better idea of what to do. She might want to stall until someone had a better view of it.
Kamille mustered all her indignation and noble pretentiousness, trying to convey it into mental dialogue, shooting it at the drake hussar [6]:
Do you know who I am?! I am under orders of the Crown! Who are you?! Who’s in charge here? Sigmund Corvinus will not be pleased when words get to him you tried to arrest another member of the Expedition!
Despite not trying to attack the knights or the drake hussar (yet), Kalaf also didn’t start to make his way to land and kept flying overhead. The old drake sniffed the air, trying to understand that shift in the perspective, the new skies and land.
What kind of sorcery is this, little one?
Kamille didn’t know what to answer.
Poe silently thanked Hektor for his fast thinking, even if it meant he was putting himself in danger, considering her job was to keep the boy safe. The flaming circle of life kept them from receiving the shock of that wall of force [7], but she still found herself shocked by the change in scenery.
By Lunala’s ti-
What was happening?! Were they back in time? What were the Knights of Duros doing there? Knights and Black Quills didn’t mix well and were better to keep their distance, so she reached out to Kamille to know what to do. Upon confirming, the Black Quill turned to Hektor:
“Don’t attack yet. I’ll be around. Don’t do anything… weird.”
Stupid, she had wanted to say.
Hektor could only confirm with his head, and before his eyes, Poe silently vanished [8].
Around him were the friends of the knight named Sarne, all armored, seasoned man. He was just a boy. The Knights of Duros wouldn’t arrest a boy, right?!
….Right?
He looked over to Disaster, as the golem seemed to revert to his usual, peaceful self [9]. The threat of the deeptusks - or whatever they were - was no more, but…What should they do now?
“Disaster! I want uppies!”
The golem could be quite careful for the aspect of a monstrous haunted tree he kept, gently scooping the apprentice off of the ground and placing him on his shoulder. The fire of the battle faded from him, and he didn’t look like he’d been the behemoth that just punched his way through another beast just a second ago.
The circle of life would fade soon. He needed to think of something.
Fast…!

Mikael winced as he was thrown back and knocked prone from the force of the expanding field around them. He sat up looking around confused at the change in scenery and the knights and riders. This didn’t seem to be a good situation at all right now. He slowly got up (1) and frowned as he moved slowly to avoid any more current danger. He then made a small signal summoning Darius to come back to him along with Luna and chesh. He didn’t want them to be put in harms way when the situation was currently unknown.
Darius flew down with a little screech and perched upon Mikaela shoulder. Luna watched the guards and slowly backed towards Mikael. Chesh looked h happy with it but backed away never taking her eyes off the guards. He cleared his throat and gave a small smile after a moment. “I’m sure we can talk about this friends! No need to be brash!” He called hoping to talk things down a bit as futile as it seemed to b. Surely it didn’t have to result in more combat right? Oh poor mikael ever the optimist. He wouldn’t fight unless he had to.

The blast hurt, a lot. I let both the bow and Carl shimmer into colors before disappearing back into my endless pocket. As I fling back, I see Rosemary knocked back by the force as well. I quickly grab at her before letting the force take me to the ground once more. In that moment, I let my reflexes kick back in and land on my feet as I cradle Rose to me.
Glancing around, I see what could be the past, or what could be our missing group. Flickering my eyes around, I lack the understanding of this area, I need to find out more. In a moment, I sense the spell of Gwen's being released and let the magic cover me and Rose. The body aches we had both felt are now clear. I nod to Gwen with a smile, a promise to talk later in my mind, a chance to thank her and properly talk again.
I could feel the cool sensations of the shadows once more, quickly I gather them around us and run. Those warriors could have mental barriers, or at least strong enough minds that it will great limit whatever I can do later on. Running around the city away from the main zone, I take care to not touch anything or anyone.
As I listen to those around me, I can hear a large booming voice, with a blink I realize the spells and quickly let magic pulse from my fingers into Rosemary, who sits inside of my clasped hands. I know I am a friend of Astrid, and the best way I know how to protect is by learning. So, lets listen and learn, and see if this is our world, another realm, or a hidden away society that's hiding it's own existence from everyone somehow.

Post by Cypress Springleap on Aug 4, 2024 20:27:53 GMT -5
Quick Summary:
Cypress leads the Deeptusks out of the battlefield, and ends up within a Snow Fort as the wave of force passes over the battlefield. When she reunites with Cstrid, she casts Spring Cleaning on her while ensuring she's okay, and then hops out of the Snow Fort with Puddle Portal to rejoin the fray. Cypress remains in the Right Flank.
The Deeptusks are gentle this time much to her surprise; she’s never been this close to one. Without too much fuss, she’s able to lead them through the chaos and to the outskirts of the fight where they might be better able to return from where they had originally come. She smiles, holding her palm out flat to feed one of the Deeptusks a last apple before she leaves them to wander away on their own time. “Don’t come back this way, alright? Don’t want you getting hurt!” She doesn’t really think they’ll understand, but they seemed pretty spooked to be in the chaos, so hopefully they’ll understand in their own right. She starts to back up, and then turns to head back to the battlefield. Who would do something like this to the Deeptusks…? It’s a troublesome consideration, but before she has time to think about it, something blooms on the back of her hand and captures her attention. “ Eh…?” Cypress blinks, glancing down at a beautiful, glimmering flower very unlike the ones that she usually makes. She tilts her palm, confused, until she looks towards Kvasir and watches his motions and the gleam of his bow - did he…? It’s quickly affirmed through the inked marking; Cypress bristles, having forgotten about it, but relaxes with a grin. “ Thank you, mister Kvasir!” GOSH, HE’S SO COOL! Cypress wiggles her tail before heading back towards the field, but then - THUNK.When the humidity in the air suddenly crystallizes around her, Cypress cleverly bounds directly into the wall of a surprise Snow Fort and makes a sound reminiscent of a disgruntled bleat upon impact. She stumbles back and chuffs, rubbing at her nose while she looks at the ice-wall with surprise. Who put this here?
Replicant!Cypress slows her pace as she arrives closer to the center where the warping has begun to warble, and approaches with a curious amount of reverence. Something about it - the feeling of the magic - is familiar. Nostalgic. Something she feels she remembers from some dream. A deja vu, maybe? Hesitantly, she reaches out to touch the warbled surface just as it explodes outwards, and promptly vanishes from the battlefield.
“Wuh!” The original Cypress collapses on her tail when the world suddenly shudders around her. The Snow Fort rattles as if it’s been hit by something great and powerful. A wave of intimidation and nerves rolls over her while she brings her knees closer to herself; she can’t really see what’s going on outside from the ground… “ Misters Kvasir and… uh, fluffy guy? Sorry I don’t know your name, are you okay? What happened? I’m behind a wall.” she asks through the inked markings as she scrambles up to her hooves and attempts to stand on their tips to see over the Snow Fort - when suddenly, Astrid comes rushing into the Snow Fort from above - and starts fussing over her. Ah, that makes sense. Cypress can’t help but laugh softly; aside from her red-flushed nose from the impact on the wall; she’s okay. “I’m good! I’m fine!” she assures Cstrid, although it’s always difficult to tell the original Astrid from her counterparts. “Good timing on the wall; are you alright?” When Cstrid stops moving so much, Cypress cups her face in her palms and gently moves her face from side to side to ensure she’s not injured. When she does so, any grime that might have been on the replicant from the fight washes off should she let it (1). The replicants are still her Astrid at the end of the day; and whether this Astrid is a replicant or not, she’s uninjured and still here: so, wherever Astrid is, she’s okay, too. Her presence is comforting.
“ We should get back; things are getting kind of crazy, huh?” She can hear a commotion outside and turns to peek over the edge of the Snow Fort- are those a bunch of knights? Her eyebrows raise, and then, she hears Astrid’s voice booming across the battlefield. Cypress startles, but glances towards her girlfriend - her confidence is practically palpable, highlighted by a kaleidoscope of colourful chaos while she throws her hammer towards the sky in a grand gesture of inspiration in a... city? When did they- oh, who cares, that’s her girlfriend! Awe swells in her chest and flutters her heart; she grins when she glances back at Cstrid, somehow emboldened. “ You heard yourself! C’mon! We got an entity to flush out - no one deserves to be treated like a bunch of puppets. Meet you on the other side!” With that, Cypress hops backwards into a puddle and vanishes, then pops out on the other side of the Snow Fort. (2)
Location: Right Flank
Actions:
(1) Spring Cleaning on Cstrid A spell developed to help rapidly declutter and remove grime. By touching yourself or a willing creature, you can clean off any dirt or grime that has accumulated on their person. You can also touch a small, disorganized area to reorganize and declutter it - such as cleaning a desk, arranging shuffled papers, stacking a pile of coins, or removing wrinkles from clothes. (2) Puddle Portal to escape the Snow Fort and rejoin the fight This spell allows you to choose two bodies of water with which to connect in a local area (both bodies of water must be within sight of the caster), creating a portal that allows you to drop into one body of water and emerge from the other. This spell will work even with rain puddles; this allows casters to travel through so long as the puddle is bigger than they are. The portal will remain open for two posts unless cut off early by the caster. The caster is the only one who can move through the water.

Post by Lord Sarne Sequoia on Aug 4, 2024 20:44:33 GMT -5
Sarne feels the impact of the wall, The grass fractures and splinters around Sarne in strange patterns. A wave of force slams into Sarne. He braced himself and was able to stay on his feet. Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir fell to one knee. Nordic growled from the force. but they felt no pain with the Circle of Life that Kamille cast. The earth cracks into segments that reform all around them into walls and towers. Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir blinked from the bright light. Sarne seemed not to be affected by the light. The landscape had altered into a city fortress of stone that stood proudly in the King’s Valley. The city stirred with commotion. People stop their activities and stare bewildered at the sudden intrusion of Sarne and the others. The shocked look of the people told Sarne they might have appeared out of thin air. Sarne saw the Guards wearing armor and symbols of the Knights of Duros suddenly come out of the alleyways and surround everyone. Telling them to throw down their weapons. Sarne sheathed his sword. "Now what!" Said Sarne in an angry tone. [1] [3] Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir used their Stealth ability to go Invisible and use Silent Step to take positions by Sarne. watching and at the ready for trouble. An aura of gold light begins to emit from Sarne, filling the allies with hope and strength. Sarne begins to inspire those around him to stand strong, filling them with the will to continue going. Anyone who Sarne considers to be an ally standing in your immediate area will feel their strength grow and want to stand their ground. Looking up Sarne heard the flying Drake riders of the WEF. When Sarne heard Lady Kamille she was under arrest. She looked back at the knights figuring who was in charge. Sarne looked directly at him "I am Lord Sarne Sequoia of Silvermyist. Who are you to talk to me in this manner." said Sarne with authority and confidence. Sarne heard the laugh that echoed through the city. Sarne thinking now what is this probably Fea up to or someone with great magical ability? As the strange child begins to approach Vail, the ashlander looks back to Gwen who was still preoccupied with the horrid mass of vines. His eyes shut momentarily as he focuses inwards, gathering the surrounding light around his hand wraps, before opening with a flash as his arms become aflame [1]. The flames soon erupt on his allies’ weapons as well, an act that will hopefully hasten the demise of this plant creature. "Burn the beast away, we likely have something greater to deal with."
The sound of approaching footsteps catches Vail’s attention, he looks back to the child’s position to see the girl approaching as quickly as her little legs could, clearly eager to be of help. Unfortunately, whatever was causing these bizarre occurrences wasn’t about to let these adventurers do as they pleased. A bizarre occurrence radiating across the grass from the center of the former bubble catches Vail’s eye and the ashlander reflexively lifts his arms upwards, shielding his face from the rapidly approaching wave. The wave is strong enough to launch the ashlander off his feet as well as shattering his gauntlets, rather than his face. The ashlander quickly gets back on his feet and immediately looks to where the girl once stood. The world goes quiet as the pale man stares stoically at the cloud of dissipating purple smoke that had taken the child’s place. Another life stolen by the cruelty of some higher power, another death he was powerless to stop. His teeth sink into his lower lip as he grimaces; whatever was behind this madness, he wasn’t going to let it go unpunished. The sound of Gwen’s voice pulls the ashlander back to reality, however strange it was. Vail quickly scans the newly arisen cityscape, as well as the knights addressing him and his allies. The ashlander stares down the suits of armor as he replies to Gwen and the others. “Good to see you all in one piece as well. I see we haven’t lost our shared talent for getting ourselves into the biggest of messes.”
Gwen’s command is a sensible one, spilling away from these so called knights will be much easier once the glitter is cleansed. The ash lander withdraws a strip of tape from his medical kit and begins to tear away any large chunks of glitter that remain after the waves impact [2]. With his clothes cleansed the best he can, Vail keeps close to Gwen and her entourage, staying within the silvery fog that stands between them and the knights. Hopefully the veiled woman’s informant has some idea of where the group should proceed. As the group travels, a voice echoes out through the city, one with a youthful tone and a heavy accent. The voice calls out to the knights to stand down, meaning other adventurers are likely in the same situation as his group. Whoever this voice belonged to, it’s unlikely they’re another illusion. Hopefully their words work, if these knights have any sense of their own.
SUMMARY:
Vail activates Blessing of the Hallowed near Gwen to help kill the faketusk. He then blocks the wave with his Gauntlets of Ginma, destroying them in the process. Afterwards he cleans himself up using tape from his medical kit and joins Gwen in the silvery fog, becoming invisible within it. OW.
A loud yelp– more of surprise than of pain, though Kvasir can’t deny that the whiplash he’s gotten sudden and violent shifting of the earth is going to ache later– falls from Kvasir’s lips as soon as the whole battlefield shifts around all of them, the filaments of grass flattening, hardening into stark planes of stone, the iridescent, otherworldly colors quelling into something achingly normal: stronghold walls and stone streets, the colors and shapes so irritatingly normal that they loop right back around into strangeness. There’s a civilization here– one so well-founded that Kvasir would swear up and down that they’d been teleported somewhere else if not for the fact that he’d seen the plane shift himself.
It’s quite a shock to the system on every level, to say the least. Mercifully, the wall Kvasir’s been maintaining managed to save him from sustaining any real damage from the force of the shift– he can feel some aches inbound already, but that’s a matter to groan over later. For now, what matters is figuring out what the hell just happened, where the hell they are, and what–
…
Oh, gods damn it.
Kvasir drags his hand down his face in quickly festering exhaustion– thankfully not the inked one, he realizes midway through doing it– as the Knights of Duros, of all people, enter the scene, demanding that they all throw down their weapons and relent to arrest, as if any of them have done anything to warrant it. Well, perhaps some of these people have done things to warrant arrest at some point, but he hasn’t witnessed any such things out on this battlefield, or in this city– not yet, at least.
The look Kvasir gives the knights standing before him and the still-unknown scrunkle is more unamused than anything– a stark frown, one eyebrow raised, something akin to disappointment settling in his eye. They can’t possibly be serious, can they? “In the name of the queen,” “crimes against the crown”– how vague can they possibly be? What crimes, and what queen? Some specificity sure would be lovely around here!
Gods, justice truly is dead, isn’t it?
“This is stupid,” he mutters under his breath, almost petulantly. “Unfathomably stupid. Don’t you have a better, more specific reason than ‘crimes against the crown?’ I think I’d remember something like that.”
Really, there’s a more likely shot he wouldn’t, but no one else needs to know that.
Before he can say anything else, a surge of dull purple light blossoms to life in front of him, forming the same kind of sheer wall he’d summoned before, and that little voice sounds in his head, insisting that they go. Kvasir pivots around, looking around as quickly as he can before his eyes land on the scrunkle standing next to a gaping hole in one of the walls, who scurries along through it in one swift motion, eager to get through, to get away–
And Kvasir just barely manages to get through with him, the wall resealing behind him as he tosses himself through.
“Ugh,” he groans, dusting himself off as he picks himself up off the floor, magic surging through his fingers as he finally attends to the glitter. [1] He could’ve been a lot cleaner with that jump– now his knees kind of ache, as if scolding him for putting them through their paces, but they can deal with it. His whole body can deal with it. “Thank you– for the escape, there. Don’t think I’d be much help against a bunch of knights. Not up close like that.”
He gives the scrunkle an awkward little smile before readjusting his hold on Laleh-Vahzgun, tracing his fingertips over the bowstring a few more times as he traces the distant energy from those he’s forged his connection with– the scrunkle is right here with him, which is good, Cypress seems like she’s doing okay, Astrid and the minotaur fellow, they’re accounted for, the bird-person is… partially underground? Alright, and Morrigan…
…
Where the hell is Morrigan?
Kvasir furrows his brow as he tries to search for a vestige of Morrigan’s presence, a sign that they’re still on the other side of the tether formed by the blessing, but nothing comes up– something’s snapped, as though shears have been taken to the thread, cutting it cleanly and leaving him with no way to sense where they are or how they’re faring. And here, in the walls of some other building…
…gods, he hopes they’re alright.
“...that idiot,” he mumbles to no one in particular. “What are they doing…?”
…well, all he can do is have faith in them, and… hope that whatever the hell is going on out there, it gets resolved quickly.
“So then,” Kvasir says, looking to the scrunkle with as cool of a composure as he can manage. “...any idea what’s going on out there…? Since you can– can talk to Astrid and Morrigan Moonweaver…?”
Speaking of Astrid…
“...Cypress, honey, are you doing alright out there?” he calls, relying once more upon the strange telepathic network the scrunkle had forged. “Do I need to come get you? Are you hurt?” [2]
SUMMARY: KVASIR is already DONE with the KNIGHTS' BULLSHIT after APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE. He SNARKS OFF to the KNIGHTS before RUNNING THROUGH THE DOOR made by HYLL. Once in the NEBULOUS BUILDING, he casts SPRING CLEANING on himself to be rid of the GLITTER, and mostly just FRETS ABOUT OTHERS.
LYCORIS takes a NAP on his SHOULDER.
1. Cast Spring Cleaning on self to be rid of glitter - BUFF? ACTION
2. Used Inked Marking to talk to Cypress - PASSIVE
TEMP PASSIVES:
Vestige of Light - 4/6 posts
Wall of Light - 3/3 posts (resolving)
Blessing of the Babyleash Lost Oasis - 2/3 posts
Inspiring Presence - 2/3 posts
PETS: 1. Lycoris, "Moth Dragon" (reflavored Snow Owl) - counts as a pet A strange moth Kvasir encountered in the Lantern Light Wood on a mission for the Consortium with Morrigan Moonweaver and Cantio von Lumen. This creature has the ability to manifest as a cat-sized moth around the house, bearing resemblance to a Death's Head Hawkmoth in terms of appearance, but when the time comes, it can transform into a vast, imposing moth-like dragon, capable of casting magic.
Can cast Snow Flurry and Heavy Blizzard once per topic. 2. Sparkle-lings (reflavored Snowlings) - do not count against NPC cap A round bottle of what appears to be never-melting snow... but tip the bottle, and snowlings will pour out. Snowlings, little round snowballs (about the size of a golf ball) with legs, are eager to help perform tasks, chores, carry an item, or cause a distraction— but they have no combat abilities, and cannot speak. The entire group of Snowlings may be assigned one type of task at a time. PASSIVES: - Night Vision Any and all eyes you have are altered to be able to see in the dark. These eyes are given the ability to see regardless of how dark it is. This does not effect your normal eye sight and will not hinder you if it is bright out. These only work in normally darkness and will not see in darkness created by magic. - Controlled Immunity Gaining mastery over the human body has increased your control over your own body. You have now become resistant to poison and toxins, your body able to fend them off with ease. Any poison or toxic effect last for one turn less on you and will not effect you as much as normal. - Angelic Light The light within the celestial now flows through you, invigorating you and filling you with holiness. All of your physical attacks now deal light damage in addition to their normal damage types, so your sword slices, arrows strikes and hammer smashes all deal light damage, making you effective against those of evil and death. Your attacks that deal light damage now deal double damage against those who are of the Evil Alignment. - Morrigan Moonweaver's Eternity Ring A single ornate ring that is said to magically bind itself to your soul upon receiving the ring. This ring is not for you to wear, instead it is meant to be given to another like someone you love, trust, care about or value immensely. While someone is wearing your ring, they are able to read your emotions or mood, and tell if you are happy, sad, scared, etc. The wearer of your ring is also able to cast one spell, or use one martial/stealth ability that you own (is in your inventory) once per topic. They cast the ability at the same level you posses (Novice, Master or Exalted) and can be used without needing to be in the topic together. A ring can only be bound to one person at a time and you cannot wear multiple peoples' rings. - Life Spark Earring A small, yellow sun shaped ear ring that can be attached to the ear in any manner. Worn by paladins, clerics and battle medics to dish out damage while still protecting their comrades. While this is worn, if you healed someone last post, all of your damage this post will ignore resistances, immunities and hit preventions. - Inked Marking (from Hyll) The Quillomancer's tool of the trade is a small, glass vial of black writing ink, which all Quillomancers keep on them. By infusing your magic into this ink, you can place your hand on a target, transferring the ink onto their skin in the form of a tattoo of your own design. You can make three tattoos per topic, which are permanent and stay until the end of the topic, morphing back into ink when the topic ends. Anyone who has an Inked Marking will be able to telepathically communicate with others who also have an Inked Marking, even if they are unable to see one another. Those with an Inked Marking will also know the exact whereabouts of others with the markings, able to speak with and track others affected by the tattoos. An individual can only have one Inked Marking applied.

Javal smiles with pride as he sees his blade cut through the false deeptusk’s side, with the additional strikes from Shitakibo and Rena tearing this plant creature apart.
The fellblood’s face turns into a deep scowl as a strange goop covers his body over the glittery substance that was there before. It seems all types of strange substances have been covering him for some reason. His face contorted into a visibly disgusted look as he smelled the decay and grime over his person. His vision was blocked by the weird guck and he clumsily staggered around trying to get it off of his eyes with his hands placing his blade down for a moment. As he manages to clean his eyes off the gunk he narrowly avoids an incoming arrow by a few inches as it lands squarely on the ground next to him.
“Phew”, Javal exclaims in relief, “Looks like I was almost hit there if I wasn’t more careful. Stray arrows are a common weather pattern on the battlefield”.
Suddenly before he can wipe the rest of the grime away from the rest of his face he notices that everyone around him has ice crystals above them. He looks up to see that they're right above him as well, that’s very odd, Javal was sure that random crystals weren't a real weather condition.
Before Javal can question anything further he gets slammed to the ground with great force, he quickly tries to get up noticing the force broke his helmet. He tosses it to the side and gets back up looking at the new environment in front of him. It certainly wasn’t the wide plain valley that it was before and instead is filled with random walls and towers. Even stranger actual living breathing people are bustling about with a few staring at the fellblood with confusion.
Javal with a bright smile waves at them, “Hello there good fellows, it appears I am suddenly in your town now. Apologies for the intrusion but do any of you fellows mind pointing me towards the direction of evil bad guys? I was just on a battlefield a few moments ago fighting a plant deeptusk and I wish to get back to the heart of the fight”.
Before he could get an answer, guards surrounded him and ordered him to stand down and drop his weapons. He looks above glancing at the WEF riders as their drake's wings flap loudly keeping them in the sky. Nadia looks at the sight around them with trepidation, something about this is wrong, very wrong. She stands by her liege's side gripping the ray bow tighter in anticipation for things to go bad soon.
“Wait good sirs, don’t worry we are all on the same side here, I am also like you fellows pursuing evildoers in the name of justice. I promise you my blade is only to be used against the criminals and fiends, not the royal family”.
He places his hands in the air and gives the Knights of Duros a warm friendly smile before glancing around as the sound of laughter reaches his ears.
“Did you guys hear that? I could have sworn someone laughed nearby?”, Javal would question as he looked towards the guards.
Javal Zarrias 1. Tries to get the Deeptusk goop and glitter off of him. 2. Tries to talk to the guards and explain that he's just a friend here to help take down evildoers like the Knights of Duros. Passives: Bull's Strength, 7/8 HP of Armor Nadia Sadrine 1. Tries to ge the deeptusk goop off of her.

Rena curses, flinching as the wave of force splashes against her Death Wall, the lich’s silver eyes flaring a caustic white as she sees it bowl over her siblings and children, another curse escaping the silver eyed crow’s throat…and then she hisses as the Faketusk goop splashes over her, one hand instinctively going to wipe the stuff away from her eyes… …Whistle yelps as the twin explosions engulf her, the ruby eyed chick being bowled over by one and blinded by the other, her hands impulsively going to wipe her eyes clear as she stumbles to her feet, beak gritted against the pain… …Loci hisses as he’s knocked over and blinded, the skeleton shaking his head to try and get the goop out of his skull as he pushes back to his feet, one hand going to support his ruby eyed niece… …Wind lets out a shout of alarm, doing his best to shield his crossbow from the worst of both explosions as he’s bowled over and gooped, his free hand immediately going to clear the stuff away from his eyes… …Wind hisses as she’s bowled over, rolling back to her feet and clearing her sockets as she glances around her new surroundings… …Chimes yelps, stumbling back to her feet and clearing her eyes… …Hum hisses, doing much the same as her brassy eyed niece…

Front After the dust settles, the adventurers use the lull to recover and reassess the situation. Marion Aurea takes the time to re-up their support spells while C'Leena Thomas lies in the street on the ground. While Mikael Mooreson and Javal Zarrias try to talk to the guards with their pets gathering around them, @shitakibo takes a less friendly approach and phases through a guy, mocks him, and then summons shadows to cover the FRONT flank. Talking doesn't seem to get the knights to back down, but then the shadows cause the buildings to distort and worble as if being refracted. The guards look around alarmed and attempt to attack the mocking snake woman, their attacks whiff through nothing but air. Beak manages to avoid being blinded, then decides to play dead in the street. The guard who they reach out to mentally doesn't seem to be reachable, as if something is interfering with attempts to connect with their consciousness. Rena Brighteyes clears the goop from her eyes. Same with all the summons and minions which are quickly surrounded by the guards. Left Lady Kamille Verlithax is followed by the WEF members as she lands Kalaf. The other guards cautiously surround Disaster while Hector Hector gets uppies. Poe goes unnoticed along with Lord Sarne Sequoia 's minions. The guards are cautious of Disaster and Kalaf, but hold their position. Lord Sarne Sequoia confronts the guards and his minions go invisible. They do not seem to recognize who Sarne is, nor do they hesitate to approach. "I don't care who you are. You are under arrest." Fish the Tinkerer disappears into a shadow and gets a feel for the area. While in the shadows, Fish the Tinkerer is able to see through the buildings like they're semi-transparent. Mapping the area, the magic is thick and distorts what is real and what is not as if the planes themselves are warping and overlapping. There are four small circular areas in each quadrant that seem to be the source of the distortion. Right Shaa Rhunn dodges inside a building to avoid the guards. Hylltywyll has a similar idea and throws up a second wall of light then dives through a hole in the wall of a building with Kvasir Sigurrós . All adventurers quickly find the insides of the buildings to be far from what they expect. The interiors are more like earthen caves cluttered with mushrooms of all shapes and sizes. Some even glow! What's more, each building seems to continue down a narrow tunnel. Where these tunnels go is a mystery at this time. Morrigan Moonweaver tries to smooth talk the guards then activates an anti-magic zone once they get close. The guards are on edge and don't look convinced. "The Queen will be the judge of if you speak the truth or not. Do not resist arrest." The one within close proximity blinks a few times, a familiar rainbow-like film fading from their eyes. The individual holds their head and looks around in confusion. "Wha-?"Natsunats-Shun dives into the igloo around Cypress Springleap and starts trying to dig through the ground much like Shaa Rhunn 's worm, both find that the "stone" is surprisingly soft and easy to dig through like it's just regular King's Valley soil. Cypress Springleap uses a portal to pop back up on the battlefield. Lady Astrid Stormstone voice booms out across the entire battlefield and makes all who hear her want to protect her. This doesn't necessarily distract the guards from being hostile towards everyone else, but now the WEF riders turn their attention to her and flock towards her. One shouts out. "YOUNG LADY! IT'S DANGEROUS OUT HERE! WE'LL TAKE YOU TO SAFETY!"It's not long before the WEF members try to scoop Lady Astrid Stormstone up to whisk her off to safety. Rear Gwendolyn Mystwud negates any wounds with heal, then goes invisible with her crew and moves through the crowd. Vail goes with. Lady Keyke Runi flees into the shadows around the city, the narrow alleyways where the shadows are strongest are empty, but oddly shift and bend as if not fully solid. Something about the absence of light seems to have an effect on the appearance of the buildings. The guards on this flank lose track of the adventurers and start searching for them only to realized that there's a DEEPTUSK in the middle of town. They carefully try to move the crowds around the creature as to not anger it.
NOTE: Please indicate where you are at the END OF YOUR TURN on the battlefield (FRONT, REAR, LEFT FLANK, RIGHT FLANK).
The deadline to get your reply in for this round is Sunday August 11 at 11:59 pm ET

The look of confusion on the guards face brings a smile to her own as the group moves out of the crowd. The deeptusk would be enough for them to handle, at least it would keep them off of their back. Though, their problems were far from over. For one, Gwen didn’t recognize the city, and two, she did not have any bearing on where the voice had been coming from now. Though, speaking of voices, another echoed loud and clear above the rooftops. Oddly familiar, was that…Astrid? A rallying cry, unsurprising from such a spirited child. But the formality of it struck her as more of the grandstanding type that Leandros would whip out. “Astrid and the others can take care of themselves. She’s right, we need to focus on weeding out those responsible for this mess. Let’s keep moving” The group passes quietly through eerie city streets, sidestepping errant citizens as they move invisibly down queer alleys. The cloud of illusory mist ebbed and flowed around several confused peasants, an apparent anomaly creeping it’s way towards the center of town. “Should we try to get a vantage point?” Jessica whispers forward, carefully trying to avoid stepping on her cohorts transparent boots. “It’s not a bad idea, Mori, Millicent, check out a building and find some stairs. Quietly. Vail, are you still with us? Any idea what’s going on, or exactly where the hell we are?” Gwendolyn’s commanding tone still effective despite the hushed voice. It wasn’t long before the voices of those she had thought had been sent off were speaking hushedly nearby once more. The buildings were apparently naught but facades hiding tunnels of strange mushrooms, leading somewhere unknown. Tunnels, corridors, sewers, all of them were bad news in her eyes. After her experience weeding out Malik from the cisterns of capitol city with Ser Sequoia, it was not something she intended to do again. It’s still a city, If there are tunnels maybe they go down. And honestly, if this is all an illusion, what better distraction for something below the ground. “Mori, Launch me if you will” Gwen says, thumbing the ring on her finger to activate a bit of her Fiance’s power. (1) With absolutely zero hesitation, The cat-maid digs into the cobblestone and rapidly builds a launch pillar under her masters feet. (2) A bit of a kick and the momentum would be enough to launch her above the rooftops temporarily, only long enough to do what needed to be done. A twirl in the air to get her bearings, before locking her eyes on the supposed center of town. Her weapons had already begun following her into the air, one packed with enough energy to rival the sun, and the other acting as a conduit for her own masters power. Siathriah’s eyes shone with radiance unimpaired even by the invisibility, 6 blinding dots radiating over her head as the pinnacle of devastation ramped to full power. Time froze for Gwendolyn in this moment. She could see the W.E.F. riders diving towards a young blonde fighter. Chaos erupting around the city as dozens of adventurers were converged upon by knights. A couple of birds tumbling through the sky from the force blast. And then it came. The magic built up around Profane Redolence erupted in a spectacle of force and fury unseen by mortal men.(3) A pillar of magical light channeled from Mystwud Manor itself illuminated the surroundings in a horrifying brilliance. The beam aimed at the center of town was truly a thing of beauty, and left it’s wielder awestruck as she fell back to the ground. A wet blue SPLAT collides with the cobblestone around the maids feet as their master returns to terra firma, with Jessica and Mori jumping into each others arms with fright. Millicent could only offer an exasperated sigh, followed by “Showoff” as Gwendolyn reformed slowly, the mauls floating back down with more grace than ever. “Shut it, hopefully that opened something to the underground, let’s go.” (4)1 Gwen: Eternity Ring of Wolfe (cat's grace) (Buff Action) 2 Mori: Mold Earth Launch Pillar (Movement Action?) 3 Gwen: Profane Redolence Special Move (Profane Light) Buffed by Life Spark Earrings (Attack Action) Light/Piercing damage Profane Light: Once per topic, so long as you still have charges available, you can choose to charge the item for two posts, extending its reach to 5 km. This magical blast illuminates the area in both magical and nonmagical darkness. While firing this shot, your movement is halved and you can only make simple movements. After this effect is used, the enhancement loses all remaining charges. Life Spark Earrings: While this is worn, if you healed someone last post, all of your damage this post will ignore resistances, immunities and hit preventions. 4 Gwen/Mori/Jess/Milli/Siathriah: Advance down whatever borehole we just made (movement)

Fish is immediately intrigued by the fact that there are several different magical loci for this distortion. This was going to make things more complicated, the bird wanted to hit them all at once. They were going to need help if they wanted to pull this off. One hand is put to their ear, inventing the concept of the earpiece, as they tap into the magic of the Inked Marking. Unfortunately for Lady Kamille Verlithax, what she hears is not one voice but several overlapping and competing voices as Fish does not have their own internal voice and thus even in thoughts they have to mimic. "Four separate distortions, Fish is going to work on hitting them all. Fish will need Aunt Kamille to pinpoint this location." Fish would accurately describe whereabouts the distortion is found on the LEFT FLANK.. Next, and Fish really really really really really hated this thought, they needed Morrigan Moonweaver. For all of their faults, Morrigan is adept at disrupting magic. More adept at it than Fish was. They scuttle into a shadow and shift across the battlefield[1] to the right side, shifting through the shadows until the find the purpley glittery fellblood. Morrigan would feel a pull on their tail before spotting the bird in the shadows, "Fish needs your help." The fellblood in question, who was currently in the middle of being incredibly smug at the prospect of being right, turned and flashed Fish a pleased grin. One Fish would probably want to stab if the circumstances were different. “Oh? I’ve dreamed of the day I heard those very words from you. Now, what can your dear ole’ Auncle Morrigan do for you?”"Fish needs Morrigan to use anti-magic in this location." … Okay, well that was not the response Morrigan had been hoping for. Their mouth twisted in an unpleasant grimace; irritated at the fact that this of all situations was what they were uniquely equipped to handle. Smoothing over their expression, they crooned, “Only because you asked so nicely.”
"Fish has identified these spots as sources of the distortion, Fish wants to try and disrupt it." Once Morrigan was sent off to the RIGHT FLANK, Fish went about the next phase of their plan. They now climb up onto a roof and take a knee to balance themselves. They were entirely unsure if physical attacks would do anything to these distortion fields, but they could gather data. Morrigan likely has the best bet of making an impact, but Fish wanted to hit them all at once. If something was hiding, then poking at the seams of its magic and illusions could scare it out into the open. That was Fish's hope at least. A special bolt with a small barrel shape towards the tip is loaded into the crossbow as Fish sets the wire. They inhale slowly then hold the breath a moment before slowly exhaling as they pull the trigger. Fish flicks their wrist as they fire sending two bolts in different directions.[2] One explosive bolt would head towards the distortion at the top flank, the other would hit the rear distortion. Both impacted the area with explosive force. Time to see what shakes out.

Post by C'Leena Thomas on Aug 8, 2024 14:36:19 GMT -5
It's impressive on how quickly things tend to turn for the worst. One moment, C'Leena was swooping in and attacking some viney fake impression of.. Some sort of animal, and the next the very same animal explodes, covers her in some form of sap, forcing her to shut her eyes. Then things go even worse, as the weird orb expands rapidly, the wall of force slams into her, throwing her from the air, right into the ground by Marion. The doctor tumbles hard before skidding to a halt, similar to how she did before when getting absolutely pummeled by that Faketusk thing. This time, however, it really fucking hurts. Standing up is a pain for two reasons. One: She just got thrown out of the sky. Two: It's done a rather substantial amount of damage to the prosthetics, which spark and malfunction every so often.
She remains motionless on the ground for a bit, mostly processing what just happened, her brain struggling to keep up. After substantial processing time, she stands up, and with a single powerful beat of her wings, flies into the air before plummeting back down, going into what she likes to call Spin Cycle Mode. Generally, it's reserved for simply drying off, but technically this is in the same sort of boat. Flicking sap off her like mad. Is sap considered wet? Is she soaked with sap right now? Wait why is she even thinking about this!?
After spinning violently, she flares her wings and touches the ground hard. Generally she'd be able to land fine but with the damages she's sustained, she instead crumples with a groan. "Owww.." She lets out before working herself back up to her feet and stepping toward Marion, her wings vanishing into motes of light. C'Leena looks pained, pissed, but also concerned. The doctor looks Marion up and down before scoffing.
"Tch. Can't be having you bleeding, can we?" C'Leena says, placing her hand on Marion's shoulder and allowing her spell to flow into him. As it does so, his wounds begin to mend, bruises fade and scratches seal themselves back up. It's not a comfortable experience, but the discomfort of accelerated healing passes quickly enough. C'Leena gives a smile and a final pat before continuing on. "Keep safe, please. I'd rather not have to defib you."
Her attention returns to the guards. "HEY! IT LOOKS BAD BUT A MIND GOBLIN BROUGHT US HERE. LET US DO OUR THING FOR A SEC, YEAH?"
Don't question her antics. Sometimes not even she knows what she's doing.
Ground Level, Front
Summary: C'Leena Rotates really hard and flicks the sap off herself, then is promptly thrown to the ground by the wall of force. Stands up, gets angry, heals Marion and sets up a Devious Plan to Absolutely Destroy Their Brains.
