Ray was bewildered and awed, the land itself had just erupted into a beast of hellfire before them. He had come upon this happening last minute, been drawn in unaware of the scope of the threat he was to face. What stood before him and his acolytes was unbelievable, the amount of war and death he'd seen had done nothing to prepare him for something like this. If not for the celestial tied to his soul he might've run away. Instead he steeled himself and gave orders to his acolytes.
"Wanderer bless us! Take cover you lot!" Ray shouted at Marley and Cott, gesturing towards the defensive wall the rest of the adventurers had taken cover behind.
Seeing the gravity of the enemy before him Ray allowed Qil to manifest fully. His eyes glowed with white fire, pale golden scales covered half of his face and upper body, his missing arm regrew covered in the same scales, and a pair of deer antlers grew atop his head. His second blade formed into existence in the new arm as a faint light glowed off his skin.
"Get in the circle of light surrounding me, that goes for anyone else that can't get close enough to him!" Ray shouted to his followers and the rest of the adventurers as he prepared a spell, nodding towards the other mage casting Circle of Light and those crowded around him.
"Wanderer's hand, cover us now against the flames of the devourer!" As he finished the prayer a circle of light surrounded him on the ground.
Now it was time to do whatever he could to weaken the beast's attacks. he had no way of knowing if this would be effective, only that it had done wonders against powerful enemies. He raised a hand towards the dragon and his palm filled with crackling energy as he focused on the beast's energy.
"Wanderer cut the ties that bind this devil to its powers. Even the field before us, that our efforts may prove worthy and salvation rule today!" He closed his hand to a tight fist and ripped it to the side, feeling a crackle of magic energy but unable to see any other effects. He could only hope he'd made some impact.
Cott and Marley ran near him, cowering in the circle he'd summoned and staring in awe at the beast before them. They prayed silently, clearly rattled by the power on display before them and the imminent danger they'd found themselves exposed to.
Action system:
Debuff: Cast Gifts Ungiven on Vulcadreus - You target one enemy, for the next two post they are unable to use any abilities or features from a prestige class. This turns off all active effects and prevents them from being used again for the duration. This spell can only be used twice per topic.
Defensive: Cast Circle of Life to protect those that can't fit in Shitakibo's circle, trying to encompass as many people as possible. Unable to be harmed alongside any allies close by for two posts while in the circle this summons, the circle travels with you.
Active items
Holy Buckler(Boomer Buckler) - 1 hit prevention
Dancing Chain - 1 hit prevention
Warlord NPCs: Lightning Sigil

Summary: Caedes casts Resist the Elements on Askr (Fire Resistance) in a panic, and times a Shadow Walk from a shadow cast by one of the many walls up in order to get closer to Vulcadreus and avoid its fire breath.
It’s fitting that this beast should arrive in flames, sulfur, and obsidian, isn’t it? Wind typhoons across the Ash Lands with its arrival. The gust rips at a flame-singed cloak from a lingering silhouette, billowing it in a tangle of blacks, burnt crimsons, and velvet reds. Despite the screams, the tremors, and the devastation— it’s white noise and shadows blinking in the corners of his vision which fill his head.
Once again, the pantheon laugh in the face of mortality; And your people worshipped these cruel entities?
Thick, acrid smoke pours between stunned adventurers, terrified pedestrians, and quivering warriors. It’s with a distant, haunted expression that Caedes watches the rise of a primordial at the outskirts of the devastation. Utterly numb. They have ruled for so long, Do they even understand the value of a life?
Her slithering hisses claw into him deep; they’re sharper and more jagged than usual. It’s hard to tell if it’s just the smoke that’s tightening his throat and stinging his eyes. How many more threads will burn until he is satisfied with his destruction?
He swallows back a complicated cacophony of emotion. As the white noise begins to fade and the shadows soften, he blinks through a blurry gaze; the chaos bleeds into his vision and the maelstrom into his hearing. The earth groans, howling beneath the weight of a beast to rival even Ziev; caverns open beneath its massive feet, gurgling sputtering lava and flickering flames deep within their cores. Another monsoon brings the changeling to life; he pulls back, using an arm to block his face and narrowing his eyes against the windsheer. Orders are being shouted; familiar faces and unfamiliar faces alike spring into action as the massive monster rears its neck back, massive jaw agape in sparks and embers. Right now, though— in the midst of this chaos— they’re all faceless; there are blurs of magic, glints of shields, shimmering metal of weapons. Some voices feel like a distant memory; and some silhouettes feel like a deja vu; one in particular, however, is sobering. The duckling? Cold dread claws its way into Caedes’ chest, and before he can fully process his actions, the changeling sweeps out with a hand; in a blink, his eyes turn pitch black. The shadows beneath Askr’s feet flicker to life, creating a translucent, crimson barrier around his silhouette (1. Defensive Action — Resist the Elements, Fire). “ Askr! Don’t do anything too reckless!” He barks in Askr’s direction; his tone pitched with an edge of desperation to it; before the assassin pulls away from the group. He flips his dagger into the palm of his hand, times, and takes a leap into the shadow of one of the walls cast by the other adventurers; and as if welcomed, he appears to fall through it like water— aiming to reappear significantly closer to the beast, in the confines of its own massive shadow— hopefully, after its wasted its breath on those before it. (2. Defensive Action — Shadow Walk) ‘Don’t do anything too reckless.’He may be something of a hypocrite; but he has too much left to lose should this creature roam free into Darkveil and beyond. He has already failed the people who meant the most to him. Twice. He cannot possibly stand to see it happen once more.
Action: 1) Defensive Action: Casts Resist the Elements (Fire) on Askr Mimameith
2) Defensive Action - Shadow Walk to close distance to Vulcadreus, timed to (hopefully) avoid the Fire Breath during teleportation. Passive:One With the Shadows — Shadow Sense Pass Without a Trace — Cannot be Seen in Shadow Sanguine Bond — DON'T WASTE YOUR HEALING SPELLS

Post by Lady Astrid Stormstone on Aug 14, 2023 23:10:38 GMT -5
With how active Mount Drakolt has been lately, it’s no wonder that many people gathered in and around Darkveil in anticipation of the cult’s activities leading to some new disaster. When Astrid saw advertisements of a barbecue, this is not exactly what she was hoping for. She came here to do a test run of her new lumbering golem, not fight a massive dragon god that wants to make her into grilled meat! Luckily, there are plenty of friends and allies in the area. She can hear the familiar voice of the minotaur Shaa rallying people for a fight. His voice is quickly joined by the authoritarian voice of Leandros on his mighty steed, someone who Astrid only just recently fought a dragon in Arid Mesa. Just like the unexpected battle with Ziev a few months ago, plenty of faces both familiar and not show up to face the challenges here. When the massive dragon heaves in its first breath, Astrid’s instincts to get the heck to safety kick in. That’s a breath readying for a breath attack! She starts shouting at her gaggle of pets and constructs to run to the nearest defenses, which happen to be Blue Raspberry’s wall of ooze. The group ducks behind it with the scrap metal golem lumbering slowly behind, and they hunker down for the flames that are coming. “Quick thinkin’, Blue,” Astrid says with a grin that does little to mask the panic in her eyes because here we go again. She then turns and calls to Leandros. “Oi, Lee! Ready ta kill our third dragon together?!” She manages a nervous laugh. This one would make an interesting trophy, for sure. As she pulls her hammers out, the war hammer sparking with electricity, and both hammers creating a frosty fog from the temperature difference between their surfaces and the air, Astrid looks around to anyone that might be straggling or might need some additional help. Her golem can do a bit of fighting, defending, and spellcasting if the formulae is written right, and gods above, does she hope it is. Chaos continues to break out around them, so Astrid decides it’s better to have the golem, with its misshapen form and out of place metal head which she aptly named Buttfellow, ready to move and defend anyone who needs it. Focusing on the formulae written across its metal surface, the runes begin to glow, and Astrid feels a successful connection between her and the golem. The usually passive and somewhat inert creature suddenly becomes more alert, taking in its surroundings and identifying that the situation is dangerous. Now in its active state, Buttfellow takes up a defensive stance beside Astrid, Blue, and their companions, ready to absorb any hits in their place. Its first instinct is to protect its creator, and while it tries to cast a protective spell on Astrid, she stops it in favor of it using those spells on people with less protection. After pulling her companions close, Astrid closes her eyes and focuses on her connection to the Sky Arcana, willing some manifestation to come forth and protect the group. A vicious but protective wind kicks up dirt and ash around them, howling loudly in their ears. It might not block the fire, but it will hopefully catch any debris the same way it could stop arrows and lightning bolts. Here come the flames. Direct mentions: Leandros Aurthurian Blue RaspberryPets/Minions:Spicy Pawsage - dreadsnout but hellhound (counts against cap) Blu P Rint - Book golem (counts against cap) An amalgamation of books, scrolls and loose pages all combined together and enchanted by magic, giving the mass of information life of its own. This golem can be anywhere from 1 foot to 8 feet tall and is extremely passive, unable to attack, defend or deal damage. As long as you can see your golem, your spells, regardless of domain, can not be countered by spells or abilities. This means any spell you try to cast will go off and can not be prevented from being cast. Buttfellow - Arcanatek golem (does not count against cap) Wimbledon - Wind Pixie (does not count against cap) Dancing chain - lightning flavored (does not count against cap) Actions: - Support Action: Astrid activated the golem’s combatant state with Arcane Activation.
- Defensive Action: Astrid uses Howling Gale in an attempt to protect the ground behind Blue’s ooze wall with additional wind protection.
Your mastery has become so pervasive that you are like a maelstrom, able to create a tornado like effect that encircles you beginning at ten feet from your body and going out another five feet from there. The harsh winds buffet and slice at any you deem an enemy while being completely harmless to yourself and allies. You can see through the effect but others cannot, and it automatically blocks any sky domain or ranged weapon attacks that are used against you, while speeding up those same spells and attacks that you and your allies use. Pet Actions:- Defensive action - Buttfellow takes up a protective stance in front of Astrid, Blue, and the pets.

"what in the hell is that?" Flint asked with his mouth agape and eyes widened. Flint legs shook in fear as the primordial beast loomed over the large response of adventurers ready to turn them into ash. As he scanned the crowd he only recognized a handful of people, but all of them seemed seasoned to this kind of thing. Was he out of his league for this, Why did he respond to this, and other doubts swam through his head and for once in his life he considered back out of this fight. Then a voice echoed through the crowd, a large minotaur man was calling everyone to arms. Soon after everyone sprung into action as spells were slung and defences were fortified.
Flint grinned as he had finally realized he wasn't alone as his right hand glowed with a radiant purple light, which extends into a long spear. He lined up the shot by holding out his left hand to to gauge the distance, then with a skip hop to gain momentum he launched the spear towards the dragon's left eye. Seeing others do the same he hoped that his small spell would at least make a small effect in the beast's vision. Then he eyed the large rock wall that was created and an idea formed as he plunged his hands into the stone beneath him. Then with great effort and help from his tattoo he uproots a large chunk of rock, definitely not as large the wall but hopefully enough for a couple of people to take cover behind. Still holding the chunk in place he looked to those around him and shouted "I can heal y'all if needed, I'll try my hardest to get myself to anyone that needs it. I'll make sure that no one drops" he wasn't so sure of the last part of his statement but he was hoping it sounded somewhat reassuring to those around him. He then turned back to the rock and brace for the hellfire that was about to be brought upon them.
Action 1: Purity Bolt Action 2: Defensive actions, pulling up a large chunk of earth with bull's strength to be able to provide more cover to himself and others
Passive: Bull's strength

When the dragon arose from the volcano, I knew I should have expected this. There had been to many consistencies with fire and earth destruction for it to be natural. Either way, I had an idea, and one that seemed to connect to other adventurers as well. I could recognize many of the ones around me, from Cirice to some of my newer acquaintances like Arashi. Beside me is Nit and Fin, glaring at each other over their stupid argument, "No, listen here, if we went to other way around, we could have gotten a clear shot for its back!" "No! That's stupid, do you see everyone around here! It was a discission made for better support and power gathering! If we went on our own to the other side, we would get destroyed!" With a sigh at the argument, I turn back to them and give a glare. Both of them quickly shut up, knowing that I was about to direct them about the battle. As I was about to talk, I could hear Arashi taunting the dragon. I quickly turned my head to see what was happening. Taking in everyone's actions, I smiled. Facing forward I spoke, "Nit stay around Taki, her boosts will help a ton. Fin, race right behind the wall, don't get burned." I glance at the two miniature friends of mine. Rosemary smiled, "I'll stick to Nit, we can cause a blast with elemental abilities!" I give a nod and use my hand to gesture to Fin, Carminda quickly flew to his side. I looked at the form of the dragon heaving a breath before having an idea of how to beat it. I summon my young water friend from my pocket. With my eyes clear and target in perfect sight, I throw my knife at the head with full force, allowing the enchantment to fully encompass the small weapon. Aiming right where the head would have to go to blow down on us. I shifted to the group taking cover, knowing that I would need it. Nit quickly got by the ghosts, feeling the buffs and located a possible weakness. It's a trial-and-error decision, but Nit quickly shoots of a fire bolt over the wall to the dragon's stomach area. Rosemary hanging close to him incase needing to help if the fire helped the dragon. Fin listened close to how he was directed to the field. He just needed an opening without a chance of fire raining down. He unsheathes his Haladie Sword, taking cover behind the goo wall. Flying right behind his was Carminda, who understood what was to happen. He perched on Fin's shoulder, waiting and watching for the right moment to strike.

The feeling of warm ash lands upon Vail's left arm, eliciting a twitch from the dormant vagrant. Slowly he rises, shaking off the debris as he stares down at the dark stone. The last thing he could remember was combating that cultist alongside Gwen and Javal. His mind races, trying to piece together how the encounter concluded, and more importantly, whether they were able to save anyone before they were sacrificed. The effort is wasted however, as his mind drafts multiple scenarios, most of which are involuntary, forming a haze of contradictions and impossibilities. The only conclusion he can draw is that he was alive. He looks down the mountain, only to be met with a strange sight. A massive crowd was gathered, mostly consisting of strangers, but with the occasional friend mixed in as well. Their eyes show concern, but not towards him. He slowly turns towards the peak of the mountain, facing the colossal dragon, and instantly answering the lingering questions as to the success of his previous mission. Emotions wander into his mind as he stares up at the humongous beast. His steps falter as he falls to his knees, staring up at his incoming demise. It feels like a dream, so many familiar faces, all here to witness their shared end, all because of his failure. His eyes close as he awaits his end, until one feeling rises above the rest. Contempt. His eyes open as he glares at the creature, towering above them all as if it had any superiority over them. What a pathetic beast, born from the suffering and destruction of so many, all for the promise of rebirth. What good is a god who simply serves such a mundane purpose? People have destroyed each other for their own creations since the dawn of time, what makes this any different?
He once again rises to his feet as the dragon faces the majority of the adventurers, leaving him and few others in its shadow. A shimmer runs up his right arm just before the darkness falls upon him [1], and in an instant he vanishes [2]. He moves silently through the blackness, looking upon his various allies in this endeavor. He can sense several with a darkness deep inside of them, but his observations restrain his urges, for even their expressions were wrought by fear.
Defensive Action: [1] Casts Resist the elements (fire) on himself

Javal, after fighting against the effects of Vulcadreus whether it be being captured by his cultists and saving those affected by the destruction he was causing, was tired of it and wanted to stand against the beast once and for all. Javal stood alongside such powerful warriors some he recognized like Cyran, Del, and Leandros and even more but also some new faces that he was excited to meet although probably under better circumstances.
He and his company were ready and waiting to begin their strike.
Nadia took the ray bow out of Javals coat and got into her archers stance and fire a arrow of light. Meryl took out the ig is staff from his bag and was getting into a striking stance. The rest of his company stood by ready to react to any incoming attack. That was a good move as suddenly Javal heard Vulcadreus send its flames towards the adventurers Javal touched the ground his hands coated with ice energy and suddenly a giant wall of ice stood over his party and a couple of others. He then runs a little back to get enough distance from the wall to see Vulcadreus and summons a large amount of ice energy that is shaped into a spear which he throws with great power.

The massive behemoth of a dragon born of molten rock and wreathed in flames looms over the impressive gathering of skilled fighters and mages before it. Deep within its chest, there’s an ominous glow that gathers, the light intense enough to shine through its obsidian scales. The glow climbs up the length of its neck, illuminating the undersides of each plated belly scale which oozes with fresh lava dripping down to the pool of liquid stone it stands in. The reek of acrid sulfur forewarns of the incoming attack moments before an eruption of fire from the massive dragon’s jaws, lined with endless rows of sharp jagged teeth, blasts toward the crowd of adventurers. The flames slam into the stone wall, glowing white hot with incredible intensity enough that the stone of the wall itself starts to glow red. A wave of sweltering heat washes over all those who hide behind the bolstered wall, but the walls hold just long enough to prevent any harm to those who took cover behind it. The rock melts away from the sheer intensity of the heat. The ooze behind it bubbles and boils while the sand crystalizes into sharp shards of glass. The flames deflected by the walls leave blackened scars on the ground to either side as one adventurer keeps the backdraft from consuming all The scorched earth is brittle and charred with burning embers. The dragon then sweeps the stream of fire across to catch any who have scattered to the sides or taken cover behind other defensive means. The flames push against empowered shields of magic, summoned creatures, and other manner of defenses. All manage to hold long enough to prevent harm, though sustain significant damage. A thick wall of ice is instantly turned into steam which rises up into the air just before a lance of ice shatters against the dragon’s shoulder before turning to steam itself. Those who manage to avoid taking damage from the attack through evasion, stealthing, or resisting the flames are left to their own devices, scurrying about like ants before the massive fire-breathing force of nature itself. Insignificant nuisances. Mere specks desperately fighting for survival. A rattle grows in Vulcadreaus’ throat, the sound growing into a rumble loud enough to make the earth tremble. Was it…amused? The dragon surveys the chaos it has wrought only to get plunked in the eye with a few well-aimed projectiles and spells. It closes its eyelid in mild annoyance as the magic scatters across its hardened scales before it opens its eye again, the inner membrane sliding over its glassy surface to clear any debris. When it opens its eye again, one of the specks had managed to fly up towards its face and was shouting at it. What a strange tongue it spoke in, but as a streak of lightning crackles towards its eye, it withdraws its head enough for the strike to merely skip across its scaled brow. Smoke rises from its nostrils and between its teeth. One adventurer glimpses into the dragon’s mind revealing but a single thought that resonates with ancient intelligence and primal instinct of unfathomable and unwavering purpose. Begone. The great dragon snorts at the flying speck, the strength of the wind it expels is strong enough to send them flying back a great distance. Should they fail to recover, they risk plummeting to the ground below. A few other ranged spells bounce across its hardened scales, barely leaving a scratch. But barely was still something. And that something was annoying enough to warrant retaliation. The dragon spreads its wings wide over the battlefield. Its sheer size is enough to blot out the sun, though the thick clouds of smoke that rise from the exposed pool of lava it stands in have more than already accomplished that feat. From along its ribs, its scales seem to lift, exposing several holes glowing with heat and dripping molten rock. From these cavities, several small bursts of flame escape and swirl as if swarming insects before flying in various directions. One group goes after the fly who flew in the dragon’s face, and it quickly becomes clear what these fluttering flames are. Mephits. One swarm of these small elementals surrounds the airborne adventurer and threatens to tear him apart after toasting him thoroughly. Another swarm targets the bird-like ooze creature before it can take to the air with its allied adventurers on its back. The last swarm descends on one of the still-standing barriers of light, casting minor fire spells down upon it in an attempt to cook those hiding within it. That is not the end of things though, as the dragon takes a slowed step forward its long curled claws gouge through the solid stone as if it was nothing more than freshly tilled soil, tearing a deep fissure open to which a noxious cloud of toxic fumes spout forth and starts to engulf the area in front of it where the defensive walls once stood. A weapon flies through the growing cloud into the dragon's front leg and bounces off the glossy scales with a loud metallic pang. As the ground cracks and crumbles under the dragon’s weight, four earth elementals take form out of obsidian glass, two on the left flank and 2 on the right. They bow to the earth god’s will and pick up boulders to throw at anyone attempting to escape the cloud of poisonous vapors. One other earth elemental forms from the boulder used as a shield by one adventurer and promptly turns around and attempts to grapple the individual to keep them from escaping. "Shuna, Yukina, Kamina... we'll have to coordinate for the next part. Shuna, you're going to be taking on Yukina's form, the both of you are going to fly up out of the shield. Shuna, you cast your Sleet Storm over the Mephits attacking the barrier while Yukina uses hers on the dragon to slow it down. Don't dally Yukina, there and back... Kamina, I need you to activate your magic once we're in an open area." She addressed her companions amongst the din of smoldering rock. They each nodded as the shaman leaned down and touched her familiar lightly on the head. The jungle cat shifted1 into a Snow Owl with brown markings, then the pair took to the sky. Soaring up and out of the shield, they split up to draw some of the Mephit's attention before starting their individual attacks.
Yukina raced over Vulcadreus' back, riding the thermal currents generated by the boiling rock and scorched earth below. Shuna unleashed her Heavy Blizzard2 over the area surrounding the shaman and her barrier, cutting off the Mephit's potential retreat while leaving Taki room to make way off the burning hazards all around and into a better position. Circling above, Shuna watched as Yukina did the same3 over the Dragon God. A pair of frozen blizzards battled against the boiling heat, raining chunks of frozen rock and slicing cold over the areas.
Satisfied with the afforded control and confusion caused by the decision, Taki looked about to those within her shield. "We're moving out, everyone who'd like to come with me to a position off this magma is welcome to. We'll take the best path we can find until we get to open ground and can assist the others. If you see an opportunity or have another ability to help, please feel free." She addressed the others, giving them a moment to decide what actions to take while Yukina returned. Together, she and her companions moved out4 from the sleet storm and across the burning ground towards it's edge.
Summary: Taki polymorphs Shuna into a Snow Owl, and together with Yukina the pair cast Heavy Blizzard (1/day ability as per the spell). The first is roughly atop Taki and her shielded allies to clear the Mephits, the other is over Vulcadreus' back. They each return to her side after casting and together with all of her companions start moving off the burning ground before her shield expires.
1. Offensive Action: Polymorph Shuna into a Snowy Owl 2: Shuna casts Heavy Blizzard (Ice, Blunt and Earth Damage as augmented by: Soul of the World Druid Feature) over the area near Taki and her shield then returns to the shield with Taki. (1/3 Turns Duration) 3: Yukina Casts Heavy Blizzard (Ice, Blunt and Earth Damage as augmented by: Soul of the World Druid Feature) over Vulcadreus' Back, then returns to the shield with Taki. (1/3 Turns Duration) 4: Defensive Action: Once both have returned, Taki utilizes Geomagnetic Sense (Passive, Path of the Elementalist ability) to navigate to a safe area before the shield expires. (2/2)
Polymorph: You can target a pet or a familiar you own, altering and changing it. You can polymorph one of your pets or familiars, turning them into another animal from one of the domains you have become bonded to. You can change your pet cat into a tiger, or your pet crab into an eagle. The pet will take own the form of the chosen animal, gaining all features of that creature. It will remain polymorphed for the next hour, retaining any abilities of the chosen animal while still being affected by your druid effects.
Heavy Blizzard: The air freezes over as it begins to snow, medium sized balls of ice and hail also begin to fall as they pelt the environment. The thick snowfall makes it hard to move as the hail from above pelts enemies, dealing mild amounts of damage. These small pellets deal high amounts of blunt damage and will continue to fall for three post. While the storm can not be stopped, user can protect themselves from the hail by getting under something or melting them.
Soul of the World: The bond between you and your animals has become perfect, their trust in you unwavering. All of your pets or familiars can now attack and deal damage, acting as a source of offense or defense for you. Any of their attacks, be it from bites, scratches or other attacks will now be treated as magical as well as physical, and will deal earth damage, having any earth type effects applied to them as well.
Geomagnetic Sense: A constant passive effect, an Elementalist has constant awareness of what moves on the ground through continuous magical energy pulses that provide a general understanding, and when focusing on a specific area that has been pulsed within its large area range can tell exactly how many and how much each of the creatures/beings weigh and move within the area as long as they are touching a solid surface that makes contact with the ground.
Circle of Life: You create a small magical ring around you that protects your person and anyone standing next to you. As long as you are standing in this circle you and anyone else inside of it will be protected from taking damage. This prevents any wound that would come from an attack by a weapon or spell, regardless of its type. This ring will move with your person and last for two post. (This can only be cast once per topic)

Gwendolyn’s enthusiasm takes a bit of a hit at the appearance of multiple minions now swarming them. She had just dealt with the icy variants of these peculiar bastards and now there are the spicy ones attacking her, blue, and this 500 pound golem between us. She reluctantly instructed the floating weapon to take it’s aim off of Vulcadreus and focus on the more immediate threat. The now overcharged Arkanon Aurelia Spun everfaster, it’s barrel raking 9 shots across the throng of demons. The blasts streaked forth, illuminating their immediate surroundings in flashes of bright blue magic. Hopefully that would be enough firepower to allow them to get off the ground. She would have to get closer to deal any real damage, so she leaned forth. “Lord Wolfe, Can you get me over the dragon? I’ll be safe, but I can only do so much from afar.”
With those words, she bid her Fuming Maul to come closer, opening a compartment within to retrieve an icy blue potion. She popped the cork, and coated the censer of Enlightened Redolence with a potent Frostfire Extract, with plans to apply it within Vulcadreus himself. “I need…. I need to get into it’s mouth dear”Arkanon Aurelia Phase 2 (6 shots) Previously charged Magic Missile (3 shots) Apply Frostfire Extract Passive Effects Filter Veil - Airborne poison immunity Arcane Glasses - Magic detection and Identification Infinite Soul - Age immunity Overwhelming Magic - Spell Damage ignore resistance/immunity Dread Helm - Glowing red eyes, Nonmagical Darkvision Frostfire Extract - Enlightened Redolence

Post by Lady Cirice Lunestre on Aug 17, 2023 16:58:53 GMT -5
He… laughed…? was the only thought Cirice had as the flames race towards the throng of adventurers and the wall behind her is turned to dangerous rubble. The heat threatens to take the breath from her lungs and before she has the chance to glance back at the others a great claw begins carving a deep chasm where she stands. In a desperate and thoughtless act of self-preservation, she leaps with all her might and grabs hold of the great talon as it rends the earth.
Clinging to the gleaming scales like a bug on a leaf, Cirice says a small prayer of gratitude for Mother Moon’s power protecting her from being burned1. It won’t last forever though, so she had better make it count. Climbing as fast as she can, she scales the dragon’s forearm with some difficulty, barely being missed by the flaming elementals that spew from beneath the scales on his hide. Beneath the scales, that’s a thought. Their magic had bounced harmlessly off the hide, but surely it would be vulnerable beneath…
Getting as high as she can by climbing to avoid the mephits as they fly to attack, Cirice leaps from the leg into the air as a pair of dark wings rip themselves from her back2. Wings free, Cirice flies quickly to the nearest one of the holes the mephits came from, trying to make it before the scales slide back into place. She isn’t sure if she’ll make it herself in time to squeeze into the opening but she tries her best in this reckless idea. Thrusting her sword into the softer flesh beneath the scale she buries it to the hilt, a conduit for later magic3.
Active effect: Resist the Elements [1/2]1 Action 1: Buff action on self: wings (fiend 3 harbinger of evil)2 Action 2: Offensive action: sticking Crestfallen into the (hopefully) soft meaty flesh of Vulcy3
Passive effects: Magic Blocker (on Crestfallen) Dark damage (on crestfallen attacks and spells) Insight Rune Aegis Animi: brain protecc Overwhelming Magic: spell damage bypasses resistance or immunity

Post by Lady Kamille Verlithax on Aug 17, 2023 17:23:05 GMT -5
The weight of age's long strength and wrath spilled through Vulcadreaus gullet, and they all braced themselves for it. The Witch managed to hold up a wall of sand right next to Shaa's defenses, the one reference she could quickly find in the battle.
"SHAA! WHAT DID WE GET OURSELVES INTO THIS TIME SHAA?!?!?!"
Unsurprisingly, the sand turned into glass, but what was most important was that they kept everyone behind the walls safe. Kamille looked around as thoughts raced through her mind at lightspeed. She could feel the spellbook Zhantal shivering by her waist.
Scorched earth, venomous fumes and rumbling stones raising from their sleep - all at once, beneath the shadow of Vulcadreaus wings.
It was heartstopping.
"Allan, Poe! Take these potions! You-... Go help Taki! Stay close to her and help protect her!"
Taki was another known face, and while she had other plans for herself, the Black Quills would keep her company for now. She quickly pulled two sets of potions from her satchel, hurriedly handing them over to the Black Quills, who promptly jumped from the back of the dragon and ran past it, towards the place Taki had settled herself. They wasted no time, drinking up a potion each and positioning themselves inside her Circle of Magic, waiting to attack anything that moved closer to them.
We cannot win this, little one........
Kalaf's words sounded more on her heart than on her head, a tinge of hopelessness as the black drake faced something much greater than he - something he wasn't used to did.
Yes, we can!
Was it confidence? Arrogance? Or plain stupidity? Hopefully they would survive to tell which one...
The flames had subsided for the moment, but now elementals and packs of mephits rose from the earth and Vulcadreaus himself to attack the group. It was all so overwhelming, so gigantic, so...
Focus.
Familiar voices stood out in the midst of the chaos. Leandros, Keyke, Ray. Was that... Astrid? She couldn't let her go on this alone! Bloody child! Reminded her the first time they fought a dragon...
My lady!!!! This is maddness! Leave this place at once! This is not worth it! For what? Why are you still here?
Focus.
Standing on Kalaf's saddle, Kamille extended her arms, focusing on a small point for a moment. Vulcadreaus eyes burned through her closed eyelids, she could feel them. It took every ounce of focus she got to weave so much power, so much complicated spells, but she deemed herself safe behind the walls they put up, and by the minotaur's side. The air buzzed with mana, and in no time, her efforts would pay off: from the sky, a giant boulder cut through the smoke and ash - larger than any she had summoned before. Enveloped in earth and water, the meteor aimed at Vulcadreaus' head hit with a loud, sickening, rumbling noise. The pieces of the huge meteor crumbled to the ground, but instead of remaining inert, magic held them together. A substantial amount of mana, enough to make the rocks pile up on top of each other, once again, forming limbs of stone and water, long arms and a tiny head on top of broad, rocky shoulders. Mayhem stood tall, taller than his average ten feet this time, readily lunging for what was right in front of him: Vulcadreaus. That should keep him busy. Hopefully. Maybe. Kamille looked around.
"SHAA! LOOK!"
Elementals rose to their sides, and the Witch's intention was heard by Kalaf without spoken words. Taking the skies once again, the black drake circled upwards, around the obsidian shaped as golems. Fire already licked at the drake's teeth, but the Witch acted first: once again stretching her hands outwards, two small balls of lightning formed on her palms, and when she smashed them together, a larger - massive! - ball of lightning jumped forward, towards the elementals down there. It felt as if a spark had remained with her, stirring in her heart, pleading to be released. Kalaf imediately let his own flames lose on the golems, trailing a path of destruction and chaos.
When the Witch looked around to assess the entire situation once again, she spotted someone still close to the front line, and apparently still in trouble.
"Kalaf! Let's pick up someone on the way!"
Kalaf turned middair, going for the direction she willed him to. In a cloud of dust and smoke, the black drake hurriedly landed next to Flint, the wind created by his wings wafting away the toxic fumes, if for only a second.
"Need a ride, handsome?"
Kamille extended her hand toward the stranger to help him up, as there was little time: Kalaf wouldn't wait more than a couple of seconds to take the skies once again, circling overhead and back to the location where they attacked the elementals.
Sumary:
Kamille's actions: Hands a Bull Strength Potion and a Quick Speed Potion to Allan and Poe, one of each for both. [1]Casts Kamille's Summoning Pact: Mayhem, aimed at Vulcadreaus' head (turned Fire into Water damage with Elemental Master; upgraded in one magnitude with Soul of the Earth; adds one stack from Curse of the Seven Seas) Still mounted in Kalaf, flies over to the RIGHT side of the battlefield, to face the elementals on that side: [2]Casts Massive Fireball (turned Fire into Lightning damage with Elemental Master, adds two charges of Electrical Surge; adds blunt damage and thunderous noise from Sound of Thunder) Kalaf's actions: Flies over to the RIGHT side, without landing: [1]Breath of fire on the elementals after Kamille's attack Flies off to the CENTER of the battlefield, landing close to Flint to pick him up. After he mounts, flies off again. Mayhem's actions: Crashes on target (hopefully), dealing high blunt and water. Reforms in his golem form. [1]Spanks Vulcadreaus Allan's actions: [1]Drinks Quick Speed Potion Skitters closer to Taki to get into Circle of Life [2]Shoots at whatever is the closest threat at the moment (Holy rune) Poe's actions: [1]Drinks Quick Speed Potion Runs back towards where Taki has set and also stays inside the Circle of life [2]Slashes with the katana any threat that might get close (Holy rune)
Zhantal's actions: Screams Mischief's actions CAW?!?!? Passives: Overwhelming magic: All of Kamille's spells ignore resistances/immunity Soul of the Earth: Next earth spell is upgraded in one magnitude; used with Kamille's Summoning Pact: Mayhem Zhantal (Book Golem): All of Kamille's spells can't be countered by skills or spells Unwavering will (Kalaf): Reduces damage taken by Kalaf by half Holy rune (Allan and Poe): Extra damage to evil aligned creatures, inspire hope in allies, enemies hit by their weapons are filled with dread

Post by Leandros Aurthurian on Aug 17, 2023 20:30:37 GMT -5
"We should worry first about our survival, celebrations can come later!" He called back across the battlefield to Lady Astrid Stormstone with a smile. Almost as if on cue, the fire began to gurgle and foam out of Vulcadreus' mouth as it began to spew its flames. Leandros pulled his cloak in front of him as he urged Byrr on faster. With his spiritual armor and shield, the knight seemed to cut through the flames like a man splitting the sea. He breathed a sigh of relief as they seemed to come out the other side unharmed. Of course, the battle would not remain as simple as he had hoped. As the other adventurers make their move against this god-like creature, it too has a response to their presence. He spots the two elementals before spotting a familiar elf sprinting past him. Gods above, the woman is faster than a warhorse at full gallop by a good measure. Speed like that is not natural, but most adventurers have abilities that are far from natural. " Delaela Fenastra-Asiliari I am not sure your plan, but make haste and I'll ensure you have the time needed!" Once more the reins are snapped with a hard crack. Leandros pulls the halberd from its sheath in the saddle and holds it out as he charges. Climbing the beast doesn't seem like a bad plan and Del can go faster than he can, so it's best he stays below and holds the elementals off of her. The hoof beats stomp heavy and hard, sending embers of charred land back behind them. "KEEP YOUR FOCUS AHEAD MINIONS OF VULCADREUS, THE LION OF THE LANDING HAS THE STRENGTH OF MOUNTAINS AND YOU ARE BUT PEBBLES!" A pulse beats out from Leandros as he gets close, his halberd swinging hard looking to cleave one of the elementals in half. The knight passes by and starts to curl back around to make another pass if need be.
Summary: Leandros is charging the elementals and looking to engage them in combat. Support Action: Undying Fervor A spell used by warriors to give them bravery and courage during even the most violent battles. When this spell is activated you become cleansed of all fear effects that may currently be present on you. In addition you can not be feared or affected by fear inducing abilities for the next four post. Once during the four post duration you can send a pulse out from your body, pushing back all enemies who are within a 10 foot diameter. This may cause them to stumble, fall down or slide backwards. Offensive Action: Titanic Reach (empowered by battle cry from last post) You have learned to maximize the reach of your blows by shifting your grip on the shaft of your polearm at just the right moment, making use of the entire length of it plus your armlength to enhance your striking distance. Any target within fifteen feet of you is now considered within your reach, however any blow made while making a Titanic Reach that isn't from overhead or thrusting produces a lighter impact. Conversely, any thrusting or overhead blow has a stronger impact then it normally would, removing two hit preventions instead of one. Passives: 8/8 Armor Hit Preventions 7/8 Devoted spirits Hit Preventions Holy Damage on Halberd Heat and Earth Treated Shield Lion's Strength Tattoo and Baloth Muscles

Post by Shaa Rhunn on Aug 17, 2023 22:12:12 GMT -5
Shaa concentrates hard on the wall as the dragon’s flames swoop down to incinerate their meager defenses. It was the owl vs the bug. It was shark vs the fish. It was Shaa vs the last berry muffin. A prayerful cause at best. As the flames came down, he couldn’t feel the heat due to his elemental transformation but he could sense it there. Watch as it melted the wall, the ooze and sand into a burning mass in front of them. And then, it was done. They had survived the first assault. Shaa does a quick check and everyone seems in good shape. But there is no time to relax, the dragon is far from done.
"SHAA! WHAT DID WE GET OURSELVES INTO THIS TIME SHAA?!?!?!" Shaa looked over at Kamille and shrugged. If I didn’t know any better, I would start to think the big lizard didn’t like us. Flames spit out of his mouth a bit as he laughs. A weird sensation as a fire elemental. As the fighters start moving across the field, the dragon decides to up the ante. Scoring the earth with its massive claw, a toxic cloud spews out of the earth. From other places, small creatures emerge and start attacking various fighters. What? The dragon didn’t think it was tough enough on its own so it has to call friends? Really? Maybe he really didn’t like them?
"SHAA! LOOK!" Kamille cries out pointing to the earth elementals being summoned to their left and right flanks. The creatures signal to their smoldering master and start picking up boulders ready to hurl them at anyone attempting to escape the death cloud that was encroaching on their position. Shaa had a couple ideas on how to handle the gas but with so many people running around, his AOE attacks could be a problem. Attack the dragon? Without a solid plan, trying to punch a flying mountain would be about as effective as peeing on him. No, he needed to deal with the problems in front of him first, or to the side of him rather.
There they were. Two shiney bastards on either side waiting to lob a boulder at his face the second he came in range. And they weren’t normal earth elementals either, they were obsidian. Not exactly the “ Run up and smack in the head” kind. Wait. They were obsidian. Obsidian. The part of Shaa’s brain that gives his enemies ulcers and nightmares lights up with a spark. KAMILLE! Why in the heck was he yelling now, she was right there. Kamille! He says pointing to the two elementals. Can you hit those guys with some lighting for me? The raven haired sorceress smiles and nods as she takes off into the sky.
It was crazy…but it should work. He knows it will work. He just needs to prepare. Rushing off to the right flank to avoid the gas (sorry guys, hope someone else can do something) Shaa can feel the obsidian elementals staring at him with glassy eyes, probably getting ready to pummel him when he gets in range. But he wasn’t what they needed to worry about. From the sky, Kamille casts a massive enhanced fireball at them. Shaa is confused for a moment until the fireball transforms into a lighting ball adding stacks of electric charges to the elementals. It was over for them.
As a former Terramancer, a guy who literally lives below ground and now exalted monk and elemental master, Shaa felt he had a really really good understanding of the earth and rocks in particular. All kinds of rocks. Stones, gems, stalactites, plain ole dirt, Shaa knew them all down to the grain. And Shaa knew right away that these guys were made of obsidian.Funny thing about obsidian. Obsidian is an igneous rock, made from cooled lava with interlocked crystal grains. It’s black color comes from magnetite and hematite found in the mix. It makes the rock cool looking and tough. It also makes it….magnetic.
As Shaa watches the fire/ lightning ball crashing down, it makes the elementals hesitate just long enough to for him to make his move. Using the electric stacks, Shaa magnetizes and polarizes the two elementals, making them attract to each other. As they do, the two slap roughly into one another as Shaa uses the power to mold them into a giant obsidian ball that he keeps suspended in the air.
Shaa says a prayer and calls the spirits of his parents to aid him in this desperate hour. He feels their calming hands on his shoulders as their spirits bolster him. He can feel them whisper…We are here my son. We are with you. Shaa can feel their power fill him, increasing his connection with the world.
And there he was, preparation’s complete. His parents to protect him, a giant obsidian wrecking ball his weapon. The only question now was, where could he do the most damage? Vulcana flits by his flaming head. Bzzz bzzz bzz. It’s a big battle ground, lot of people might need help. Bzzz bzzz Bzzz Shaa looks up at the dragon. Yeah….there is that too.

Blue was ready to have the stormy cloud-like bird take off and head toward Vulcadreus, but a small swarm of Mephits hindered them. Thankfully, it looked like Gwen could mostly deal with them herself with her rapid blasts of arcane magic. Any survivors, Blue hoped to take care of by making a ball of slime in their hand and tossing it hard at the swarm. It bounced from Mephit to Mephit with a deep thud before breaking with a splash on the third.
"No problem, probably!" Blue declared with a thumbs up. They didn't question why Gwen would need to get in its mouth as they began willing the bird, now that the swarm of Mephits was dealt with or at least significantly weakened, to take off and fly up as high as possible until they were over the colossal dragon. Astrid' hulking, buttfaced golem was far too heavy to ride on the cloud bird with them, but it could stay there to clean up any remaining Mephits and cover their escape.
As they flew, as a precaution in case any more Mephits or anything started flying out of Vulcadreus's armpits or something, electricity started sparking across Blue's armor to protect them from any attackers.
