Name - Ray Castien
Gender - Male
Race - Half Human - Half Moon Elf
Age - 48
Height - 6ft, 4inches Weight - 210lbs
Appearance -
A stout, well muscled man in his latter years. Visible scars across his face, arm, and hand tell the tale of a rough life filled with combat and hardship. His eyes are a pale green and his skin is a pale grayish tone, his face is gaunt and his eyes are tight and wrinkled. Some of his teeth are missing and the rest are yellowed, chipped, or rotting. His hair has receded into a widows peak of blackish gray hair hanging loose and messy about his head about shoulders length. He wears a robe of light brown fabric, under which worn leather boots show. A religious tome is fastened about his waist in a pouch, hanging alongside it is a rusty saber. His most striking feature though is his missing right arm, with a loose sleeve tied in its place.
When Ray enters combat he can allow Qil, his bonded celestial being, to manifest an arm in place of the one he lost. Qil is then able to control the limb and the sword summoned with it throughout combat. This arm is covered in pale golden scales that seem to give off a small amount of light, otherwise it matches his left arm perfectly.
Personality -
Rough in speech and manners, Ray struggles to come off as anything more than a brute. He is always in search of ways to do good though struggles to present himself as something un-threatening due to his frightening appearance and demeanor. He is slow to anger, pacifist in creed, and humanitarian in morals. He seeks to see the good in those around him, and while hesitant to join conflicts, he will protect others in his own ways. In recent months he has seen progress in overcoming the guilt that had plagued him for years, his bandit years now becoming easier to mention and even joke about.
Hisory -
Ray grew up in a poor village on the edge of the Marsh Flats, it has since been abandoned after a large group of monsters nested in the area, driving the villagers away. Ray himself left long before, his parents were killed in a war as the village was raided by enemy soldiers. He found himself with no choice but to scavenge in the wake of this conflict and sell what he found to make money. This life led him to join a group of other displaced youths who would eventually turn to banditry during which time he wandered as far as the Dragon's Cradle, even at some point winding up on Crescent Isle for a time.
This life was hard on Ray, though he tried not to think about what he was doing. That is until the day he lost his arm... The group he was with had come to a small village and despite some members protesting they had raided the poor folk. During this pillaging, a family was beaten and on the verge of death, Ray stepped between the gang and them as he saw himself in the child watching his family die. In the ensuing fight Ray managed to fend off his brothers in arms due to his extreme talent in sword fighting, though he later developed an infection in his sword arm which had to be amputated. Having killed his new family, lost his true family, and no longer being a capable swordsman, he felt lost in the world.
Until he met a priest of Light, a healer, who took him under his wing seeing the trouble and pain in Ray's eyes alongside a small ounce of hope for redemption. He has since been traveling and attempting to provide healing and care for sick and injured folk as well as any other help he can to make amends. Hoping someday he will truly feel his guilt fall away.
After many months of journeying in Charon he came across a celestial known as a Qilin, calling himself Qil, who bonded with Ray. This bond has given him a feeling of inner peace and comfort that served to mute the guilt and regret of his past actions. This newfound inner peace has allowed him to push further into his and Qil's destiny as a force of light and healing upon Charon.
