Don't Touch That!
| Caedes joins a game of, "Don't Touch That" with Zarius and Shaa at the Black Harvest Ball. Many fancy schmancy shenanigans are performed between the three as they try to one up each other, including: invisible dance partners, musicians, and teleporting cake toppers. Ultimately, Shaa's "three-woman juggling act" wins him the game; towards the end, Zarius receives an unexpected visitor. Caedes takes the opportunity to send Charlotte after him to snoop while speaking with Shaa.
As Zarius returns, a surprise announcement is made at the party.

The Creation of Oozes
| Caedes agrees to join a tiefling named Zarius on an "observation study" under the belief that Zarius knows more about him than he's initially letting on upon their first meeting. They travel together through the Marsh Flats in search of an ooze to study, while attempting to judge the other party's respective motives and knowledge. Eventually, they find an ooze nest resting atop an ancient tree in the midst of the swamp; they race to the top, but are swiftly interrupted by a group of monster hunters. After they antagonize the duo into a fight, two of the monster hunters are killed; and the remaining three agree to leave, or face similar consequences.
With the hunters out of the picture, the two are able to observe the reproduction cycle, "budding", of the nesting ooze without further interruption.

Mold on the Walls
| After returning to Gazablaak, Caedes and Zarius decide to save a serious conversation for another day and retreat to their respective rooms at the Safe, Dry, Sleep, Eat Spot — only to be disturbed by a bump in the night from down in the basement. To the disdain of the owner, Tiny Two Toes, they discover an Ooze has been living in the basement for nearly a week after investigating the sound. Irritable and tired, the duo pressure the goblin tavernkeep into accepting their assistance to remove the ooze; they almost succeed flawlessly, until the ooze tries to retreat.
Zarius literally drags the ooze from the building, severely injuring his arm in the process; Caedes manages to help him shake the ooze off and lures it away. He finds Zarius unconscious from the wound upon return, and takes it upon himself to finish the first aid process before he can bleed out.

Lore The Oleander Family & The Shadow Weaver
| For so many years prior to his death, Gladius Oleander worked hand-in-hand with a fiendish demon known simply as, the "Shadow Weaver"; it's uncertain exactly where the weaver originated within the Oleander Family's life, but Gladius had struck a deal with it far before the birth of his five children. The "Shadow Weaver" was woven into the daily life of the Oleander family; and each child was presented at the alter of the fiend when they reached a certain age, and pledged to it their souls with a blood offering by a dagger.
As a reward, the Shadow Weaver granted the family their ability to blend into the shadows and night with flawless ease; and in return, the Shadow Weaver asks only for their help in preserving the order of the threads of fate that it spins in its shadowed plane of existence
|
The Shadow Weaver
| A drider-like fiend who lives in an odd, shadowed plane of existence thought to be somewhere beyond Charon, itself; the Shadow Weaver spins and tends to their web dutifully, tending to it like a delicate garden. It is uncertain what the purpose of the Weaver's web is, but the Oleander Family believes each thread represents the life of one individual somewhere in Charon; but the threads of one's fate are malleable and subject to change by mortal whim, luck, and chance.
Still, the Shadow Weaver tends dutifully; life is a fragile thing, and death will always come; no matter how ageless the soul, nor resistant the warrior, the end will be nigh on the horizon in due time.
Now and then, however, an ambitious soul hoping to fool the hands of death arises on the mortal plane; and as the threads lengthen and snap through their reckless actions, the structure of the web grows imbalanced, and the Shadow Weaver grows irritable in its domain. It is these rare instances that the Shadow Weaver asks its agents bound by it to find and destroy those who would disrespect the neutral, expected nature of death.
Death will come for all, and it cannot be avoided for long.

Notable Persona(s)
Mei Iresis
| A dainty woman who appears half-elven in appearance. "Mei" stands at about 5' 5" with pale skin, platinum hair, and striking red eyes; her aesthetic gives her the illusion of looking noble in birth. She wears striking bright reds with draping waterfall figures and sheer, with subtle reds in her makeup. She is most often used to appeal to targets who would feel at ease, be charmed by, or otherwise underestimate her appearance.

PC Relations
Zarius Rha'Oriyn
| A chance meeting between the two leading into an absurd string of ooze-related events and tragedy, initially brought about the beginning of a tentative alliance; the two have mutual interests and overlapping goals within the confines of Darkveil City's underground. Despite the hiccups in their initial meeting, the changeling is under the impression that Zarius is a capable and valuable ally, and shows the beginnings of a loyal, perhaps promising, allegiance in his behaviour.
Caedes currently resides temporarily at The Rookery, Zarius' home, under a different persona in Darkveil City.
|
Veliky "No Surname, Don't Ask"
| He initially spotted Veliky and her bots near her ship, the Nin Hloth, in Sol City; impressed as he was then by her creations, he knew Veliky only in name and status at that time. Later, he would go on to take a job for her in Dragon's Cradle; despite her seemingly intimidating and cryptic personality, Caedes holds a great deal of respect for Veliky's quick wits, strategy, and leadership.
He aims to remain on Veliky's good side, with the impression that she could be a valuable ally.

"The Crimson Hand"
Related NPC's Caelum "Crimson Hand" Tamiel Aasimar - Ashen Father of the Crimson Hand
*Placeholder, Credit to Karuframe on Tumblr* NPC Summary | Caelum "Crimson Hand" Tamiel is a relatively well-known public figure in the Ash Lands, an Ashen Father who has a particular reputation for his cold brutality. For years, he worked hand-in-hand with an underground syndicate, the Shadow Crawlers, in order to subtly push around and make examples of organizations that he considered to be of a lesser status than his own. For a time, the Crimson Hand was able to hold its own as a respectable and fearsome organization, with capable assassins lurking in its long shadow at their beck and call to humble those who might grow too bold.
Without warning, however, internal rumours began to spread outwards: the Shadow Crawlers had been cannibalized by none other than their own. The Oleanders, a middle-class changeling family, disappeared off of the map overnight— and all evidence of their existence was burned, looted, or sold away. The motives for Caelum's decision to execute that which originally gave his organization momentum is a puzzling one; and one which does not have an answer.
Some call it a power move, others call it madness— but he calls it inevitable. |

Eydis "Crimson Maiden" Tamiel Human - First Lady of the Crimson Hand
*Placeholder, Credit to Aimee Lynette on Artstation.* NPC Summary | Eydis "Crimson Maiden" Tamiel is the wife of the ashen father, Caelum. Their marriage has been broken and shattered for years; however, Eydis persists and stands loyally by her husband for reasons unbeknownst to those who can see just how fractured their relationship truly is. Despite retaining their status as husband and wife for the public's eye, Eydis lives separately from her husband and handles many of her own affairs, including maintaining the well-being of a sub-branch of the Crimson Hand.
Eydis is clever but cruel; she is an entitled noblewoman who prefers to be in control, and who takes just as little nonsense as her husband when it comes to handling the disrespect that comes from her position. She values her reputation and public appearance greatly, and is able to maintain her composure effortlessly in high-stress scenarios.
She is more of a public figure than her husband and maintains many of their communications and contacts on his behalf.
