Name: Marchioness Serrafleur Spyris of Garlot
Sobriquet: Serra
Byname: The Violet Dawn
Peerage: Marchioness (of her own right)
Details
Gender: Female, she/her
Sexuality: Lesbian/Sapphic
Age: 626
Race: Old Elf
Occupation: Sibyl & Seer, Enchantress
Origin: Outside Charon
Current Residence: Hawthorne Hall, Lilac Bay
Appearance: gracile, polished, stately
Personage
Serra is a woman of distinguished features gifted down from ancient lineage. She has an angular face marked by strong cheekbones and jaw. Her eyebrows inert and oppressive over perspicacious eyes. Serra's hair is long and she prefers to wear it loose around her shoulders, falling in soft coiffed waves. Her eyes are of iris, lips of begonia, and hair of wisteria. Her skin is light, not from lack of sun but rather pigmentation. Sinewy hands connect to slender arms to wide shoulders to cliffed collarbones to delicate neck. Her body is not visible under her layers of robes, but her movement is balletic. Her habit is stone, upon instinct moving her head to convey emotion rather than using her expressions. As result, her age is not marked by lines and her youth is encased in marble. She walks with measured intention.
Vestments
She favors dark dresses of heavy fabric: simple in silhouette but opulent in design. Serra is often seen wearing a long woolen chiton dress of eminence purple. It is embroidered with small gold stars and belted with shining silk silver sash. When on stroll, she adorns her shoulders and head with a hooded cloak of shimmering platina. Her favored boots are made of purple scaled hide, pointed at the toe, and closed on the side with small jade buttons.
Regalia
Upon her breast she dons a large circular amulet: a heavy stone of lapis lazuli surrounded by gold setting and hanging from a thick platinum chain. An arcane symbol is carved upon the stone's surface. She wears a ring on each finger: copper and opal, brass and amethyst, bronze and ruby, gold and garnet, silver and sapphire, platinum and diamond, titanium and tanzanite, tungsten and emerald, steel and aquamarine, and iridium and alexandrite. In her ears she wears a series of small pearls
Familiar
Serra is accompanied by her familiar, the barred owl Regna
Personality: urbane, imposing, reserved
To Others
Serra is, first and foremost, an intimidating woman. However, in irony, she is completely unaware of this fact. She is often delighted with the service she receives on her travels, in blissful ignorance that it is given out of fright. This could be due to her lack of emotional expression, her opulent dress, otherworldly aire, or foreign accent. Nevertheless, she continues on as herself, living her life non-the-wiser. She treats others with respect and silently demands their very best, completely unrealizing that people exist who would prefer the "easy-way." She has a tendency to forget others are not as learned or experienced. To this point, she often assumes more of a being than possible. This can either lead to people being delighted in her belief in them or irritated that they cannot follow her conversation. When the later occurs, she is surprised by perceived malicious intent, being accused of "trying to make me feel stupid!" by the slighted.
She is reserved in sharing knowledge of herself. She finds her own history to be rather boring...as she has already lived it. Serra prefers to inquire after those she meets. She is a master of small talk and only begins to bombard with invasive questions when a spark of interest is ignited. She is never in a rush and finds that people around her are always moving too quickly. She is of the opinion that others need to 'look up from their shoes and see the world.' Serra is heedless that this opinion is a direct consequence of her own long life.
Others may view her in awe or with wariness. Those that are familiar with society are more likely to be of ease in her presence, or at least in understanding.
To Self
She prefers time alone spent reading and studying, but is not opposed to the odd companion while traveling. However, she does always return to her estate after a time. She would never admit to anyone that, on occasion, the book in her hand is a disguised romance novel. While she is not distinct in loneliness, there is little doubt in her heart-of-hearts a longing for love.
History
The Far Past
Serra and her parents sailed to Charon from a distant land. A young woman when her parents built the family manor on Lilac Bay, she spent time looking down at the surrounding nature or up at the far sky. Her adventuring parents passed away too soon after their arrival to Charon and the familial title was passed down to their only daughter. Serra continued to reside at Hawthorne Hall, simply not interested in the long journey back home.
The Immediate Past
Over time, word spread of an enchantress in an grand home hidden in a forest. Students sought Serra to apprentice. She enjoyed teaching every last one of them. Her legend grew as she outlived many around her and became friend to families lines instead of an individual. With legend came the byname the Violet Dawn. Called this as rumor had, on a clear morning over the waves, if you squinted, Serra could be seen in her billowing purple dress from the shore of Eclipse City.
Present
Now, she continues to live as she pleases. She sometimes travels through Charon on hunt for a rare book or arcane object. Other times she is back home enjoying her flower garden with a cup of mint tea, hearing the soft exclamation of a new student as their practice goes awry. She is mostly pleased.
Snapshot
Likes: Teaching, astronomy, alchemy, tending to her flower garden, mint tea, reading (definitely not romance novels), meeting interesting people, all things magick and the arcane
Dislikes: Being rushed, accepted and celebrated ignorance, sweating, being made to wait, rude people, cooking.
