The triton fellow was walking through the crowd trying to blend in as much as a shirtless muscular triton with long wavy hair could. He’d been given a heads-up that a potion was being sold here under the table and that some pretty dangerous figures would be a part of the auction. If he was able to steal away that potion and have it in his own hands he’d be able to a. stop those bad dudes from getting what they wanted and b. He has cool potions that he could try if not the worst-case scenario he’d just upsell the potions to the bad dudes for a ridiculous price that’d keep him fed for a year.
He had about twenty minutes to sneak into the auction location, it was going to be held at some rich snob's house. He walked through the streets, blending in fairly well as he turned many corners but he felt a sneaking suspicion that he was being followed. He didn’t like that so during his next turn he walked into a dead-end alley and quickly turned around his quarterstaff already in hand as he pointed it toward whoever was following him.
“Hey, whoever you are, how about you step off, if you don’t I’ll be forced to unleash the worst of vibes on you dude”.

As Sylvari walked through Pale City, she discovered one of her pauldron straps was not properly fastened, causing the leather and metal to dig irritatingly into her skin. It was a rather novice, and thus embarrassing, mistake, but, in her defense, she had been hunting well into the morning hours after an all-night session of healing at the local medical clinic.
Sylvari had found that calling on Ellyria, her celestial patron, and her healing power was not something limited in usage, but rather it was contrary to her cursed nature, causing her hunger and fatigue to flare up wildly when she used it repeatedly. She was still determined to do her typical daytime patrol, and thus had hurried along her morning preparations to make her presence felt within the city in a timely manner.
Sylvari was amidst a throng of people, distracted by the bother on her left shoulder, and thus was not paying much directional attention as she found herself in the upper district of the city, where the wealthy lived. Coming to her senses, she saw an out from the crowd in the form of a nearby alley, which she entered only to find herself face-to-face with a green-tinged, shirtless man leveling a threat at her.
Sylvari merely blinked in surprise. Even setting aside the unwarranted aggression, she had never seen an individual such as he: his flowing forest green hair fell in cascading waves from his scalp but didn't quite cover his ears, which looked like fish fins. One of the seafolk, perhaps?
Sylvari held up her hands in peace, a gentle smile on her face to show she meant no harm. "Peace, good sir. I think you may have the wrong idea about me. I merely wanted to adjust my armor."

Vonoros lowered his metal quarterstaff as he listened to the stranger's words hesitantly as he thinks, “Hm, could she be telling the truth? Seems suspicious at least”, before placing his hand on his chin, “Nah, I don’t care either way, if she does indeed intend to poach my prize then I’ll take care of it then. Better just act normal and go along with it than rouse any suspicion”.
He lowers his quarterstaff to his side and slides it behind him into its rightful sheath on his back. To Sylvari it just looked like the staff just entered his hair and disappeared into the long waves on his back.
He places his hands behind his head and puts on a friendly unassuming smile, “Ah, my bad dude I was just feeling some bad vibes coming off of you and I’m already a little jumpy putting me up on high alert. Didn't mean to scare you, you got my deepest apologies or whatever dude sorry if I made ya feel threatened”.
He then looked back into the end of the alley seeing the auction house only a couple of alleys away hoping that the weird knight lady would leave him alone.

Sylvari's eyes, from behind her veil, followed the gentleman's gaze across the alley as she quirked a brow at his unorthodox speech.
"Bad vibes....? Ah, well, I can see that you are a little perturbed, my friend. Is there anything I can do to assist you? My name is Sylvari Dawnsage, and I am a justiciar, committed to helping the common man and pursuing justice wherever it may be invoked. If you are indeed in trouble or worried about something, it would be my pleasure to help you shoulder the burden."
Sylvari smiled genuinely at the man, trying to convey her sincerity. Her happy visage contorted to one of irritation as a slight movement caused the shoulder buckle to pinch at her skin.
"Excuse me a moment, good sir." She slowly brought her hands up to her pauldron and properly refastened the offending strap to avoid further bother. While her gaze was obscured, she kept her vision trained on the man before her. She would help him if he requested her assistance of course, but given his on-edge demeanor, Sylvari worried that he would attack her or a citizen passing by if overly provoked.
Once she had finished with her preparation she brought her arms back down carefully. "There. Now we may have a proper conversation. Would you be so kind as to tell me your name, dear?"

Vonros looks back to face Sylvari once more to respond, getting a little impatient but trying to put on his most easy going facade, “Nah, you don’t need to do anything for me dear lady Sylvari Dawnsage. Don’t trouble yourself over me dude I’m sure ya got more important short knightly duties to attend to instead of talking to some random guy in an alley”, he chuckles pausing for a moment to think.
“Should I give her my name? Hmmmm, eh who cares”, he ponders internally before speaking back up, “Names Vonoros, Vonoros Jedath surfer dude I ain’t about any of that justice talk just a simple guy doing simple things nothing suspicious at all. Don’t worry about taking on my burdens little lady I don't think you could even hope of reaching them anyways”, he erupts in genuine laughter holding his stomach crouching a little as he does so.
He eventually stops after a couple of seconds and straightens out before shaking his head, “Alright little lady it was fun talking to ya but seriously I gotta go take care of some business, scary business”.
His eyes then sharpen and his demeanor turns cold as he stares into her soul, “Don’t even think about following me either, little miss Hero. You seem nice enough and I don’t want someone like you falling into my line of business by some stubborn idea of helping me”.
He then waves her goodbye and turns sprinting away looking up at the auction house as he slips through the people in the crowds hoping the little lady stays put and follows his advice.

Sylvari was briefly stunned by the content of Vonoros' words, so much so, she wasn't able to react immediately as her exited the alley. I... He was... Am I that short? Have you ever considered MR VONOROS that you are just TALL?! Even if it was socially acceptable to say such things, surely five references is altogether excessive. Romarii would have berated me for a tenday for such a slight!
Sylvari forced herself to refocus on the material world and realized that the rude man had already left the alley and was on his way to an established auction house. She immediately began striding after him, her displeasure still quite evident on her face. Though Vonoros moved with the crowd, he was still head and shoulders above most of the gathered throng and, with his vibrant green hair as a beacon, tracking his progress was child's play.
As Sylvari quickly walked to catch up, she quieted her mind to empty it of emotion and think about the situation logically. Based on what the man had said, he was meaning to engage in some dangerous, even criminal, business, meaning that he was either thoroughly dim-witted to admit such to a self-proclaimed justiciar or else his barbs were designed to dissuade her from following in a wayward sort of care.
Sylvari sighed internally. I wish such roundabout conversation was unnecessary. Still, she resolved to follow Vonoros at a distance, waiting for a time where he might need help. While not proficient in stealth, Sylvari's, admittedly, smaller frame was much easier to conceal among the moving bands of people in the district, even despite her armor.

Vonoros sprinted through the streets bobbing and weaving through the crowd like it was the sea itself. Slipping through people as if he wasn’t even there most people just saw a large green blur
Eventually after a couple of minutes of doing so, he’d end up in another alley although this one he made it to the alley right next to the auction house. He took a second to take a breath as he looked up thinking of his method of entrance.
“Hm”, he whispered as he scanned the side of the large building, he glanced at the window about 60 feet above him.
He eyeballed it for a minute before sighing in annoyance, he then turned and jogged backward to the entrance of the alley to get some momentum for his jump. As he stood there he charged magic in his palms and tapped the bottom of his feet. He surged forward at a quick pace before jumping, one would think he’d immediately fall considering it was a 60-foot jump but he didn’t. He soared through the sky, his jump three times the normal length and height (1. Long Stride). He crashed through the window glass breaking and over his chest giving him small cuts but at least he was in.
As he dust himself off and looked at his wounds he looked down to see a certain short knight from earlier he gave her a scowl and waved her off before thinking, “Dammit, she really doesn’t know when to quit does she?”.

It seemed that more than just Sylvari's verbal interactions with the green giant would evoke shock from her as the man swelled with general arcana and proceeded to jump impossibly high, through a window at the top of the building. Still feeling a bit petulant at the insults she was forced to suffer earlier, a slight pout emerged on Sylvari's lips. Ok, that is just thoroughly impractical. This man seems crafted by the gods to be the perfect test of my steadfastness and resolve.
In truth, such a feat in the middle of the city proved exceedingly problematic for Sylvari. While she was certain she could replicate the feat with some creative application of her available repertoire of magic, such flashy displays of necromantic power were spectacles she generally tried to avoid in civilized areas. On the other hand, for Vonoros to go to such lengths to escape her, if that even was his motivation, made Sylvari all the more certain in her original assessment of the situation. As a justiciar, she could not allow such suspect behavior go unanswered, the very least of which being breaking and entering.
Consequences be damned, she would have to follow, and likely avoid the Pale City for a while afterwards to let some of the fear and aversion for her next actions die down. Rather than her typical goal of creating a wide barricade to control the area of a battlefield, Sylvari shaped and morphed her necromantic spell to focus on height, aiming to imitate her quarry's feat.
Sylvari looked this way and that, wasting precious seconds until she was certain there weren't excess onlookers. She moved her hands in a motion reminiscent of wrenching invisible chains from the earth as she intoned in an ominous whisper, "Rise."
A great pillar of grasping skeletal arms erupted beneath Sylvari [Death Wall], rocketing her toward her destination of the high window. She ignored the pain of the indiscriminate claws slashing at her calves as she leapt through the window after Vonoros and immediately dispelled her conjuration.

Vonoros turned his back to Sylvari and stretched, assessing the slight damage he’d taken from such a brazen maneuver.
“Eh, not too bad considering the other option was knocking and beating up everyone I found until I got the potion. At least this way I have no people to deal with today besides a little miss justice from earlier”.
“Hm, now where to find some cover or disguises?”, he whispered to himself as he searched the area, he landed in some random storage room filled with assorted items books, clothing, random trinkets.
He was about to take off a large blanket he found in the corner and dash outside, knocking out the nearest member of staff for their clothes. He’d done so a couple of times at this point he even had a name for this strategy, “Boo, gimme your stuff”. He was about to throw the cloth over himself as he turned his back towards the door onto the street before him, suddenly he saw a peculiar sight, little Miss Justice was vaulted towards the window by some skeletal arm.
As she pulled herself up from the windowsill he exclaimed in a hushed tone, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE DUDETTE? YOU’RE MESSING UP MY VIBES, LEAVE ME ALONE SHORT STUFF GO BOTHER SOME OTHER TRITON ELSEWHERE".

Between the damage she had taken from her unorthodox use of necromancy, the indignity of trying to squeeze through a window fully armored, and the lingering affront she felt from her previous interaction with Vonoros, Sylvari was quite disheveled as she righted herself in the small storage room she found herself in. She huffed and had a hard time processing the green giant's question, taking more time than was typical to respond.
"Listen here, ruffian. You have been acting all manner of suspicious, and thoroughly rude to boot! On top of that, breaking and entering is a punishable offense. Now, I am not without mercy, so I shall allow you a single chance to come with me peaceably, and we can go down to talk to the constable together about this whole charade. If you acquit yourself honorably, you may even escape repercussions for your actions as a first-time offender. What say you?"
Sylvari held out a gauntleted hand as she made her, in her estimation, quite generous offer. The things I do to ensure justice is even-handed. Sylvari sighed inwardly and shook her head. Well, if this instance shows him the error of his ways and makes him behave like an upstanding citizen, such will have been worth it... and unnecessary slights can be forgiven.

Vonoros shook his head in disbelief, “No way, nuh uh, How? Why?” He held his hands behind his head and paced around the storage room as he heard Sylvari’s whole justice babble.
He screamed in a whispered tone, “Ugh, why can't you just leave be alone little lady? I’m not breaking, I'm just taking the fun way inside. I have an invite in a sense dudette can’t say the same about you”, he chuckles as he says so before speaking back up, “Come with you? Why? Who cares? You’re breaking here too, aren’t you? You’re equally as much of a criminal as I am here, missing using dark magic in the city, entering through the window without permission, harassing a poor innocent triton man”.
After hearing Sylvari’s tiring rebuttal the triton has had enough of these charades and games and says in a frustrated tone, “Alright little lady here’s the deal this whole place is a den for bad guys like me. There’s this big auction filled with black market bad guys with the biggest illegal prize being two portions one that makes you huge and giant and one that makes you super duper tiny. I’m here to mess everything up for the bad guys covertly and steal the auction items”.

Sylvari scrunched up her face in frustration at the triton's words. "How do you have the gall to call yourself poor and innocent and then admit you are 'bad' like the rest of these assembled in the same breath?" She shook her head in exasperation.
"I am merely following my duty as a justiciar. If a fine is meant to be imposed in the service of my duty I will pay it, but I am not letting you get away with your crimes! I will investigate this auction house once I have turned you in and enact justice if your claims are accurate. Black market dealing is strictly prohibited, and the influx of nefarious potions has done all sorts of harm to people." I've been on the receiving end more times than I care to admit.
Sylvari leveled an imperious gaze at Vonoros before speaking in her most authoritative tone. "One last chance: come willingly under my supervision or be dragged unwilling under my arm." As Sylvari spoke, she moved forward to take hold of the triton, already suspicious he would try to slip her grasp again.
Today really is just not my day. I'm going to need another drink.

Vonoros couldn’t help but smile as the woman seemed so obviously frustrated, “Well yes, I mean a bad guy who is better than the bad guys isn’t such a bad guy. I’m a good guy at least in this situation trying to put a stop to crime as is my duty as a justiciar just like you”, he says in his best heroic tone trying to make fun of Sylvari.
He lets his hand get grasped by Sylvari and chuckles, “Whoa, whoa slow down there Lady Sylvari Dawnsage. I'm not the type of guy to move so fast after meeting such a pretty lady. I mean holding my hand after meeting me only twenty minutes ago, you’re so perverted lady, aren’t you? At least take me to dinner and get to know me better first if you’re so interested in me as it seems”, he laughs uncontrollably holding his stomach with his other hand.
His gaze does not leave her eyes as he holds his hand behind his back conjuring water magic in it as it looks like he’s going with her.
“Now tell me my dearest Sylvari will you visit me in prison, I mean seeing as you do seem so smitten with me”, as she finishes her response he immediately throws a small bubble at her face splashing her. Immediately letting go of her hand and sprinting back almost ripping the door from its hinges and into a long stretch of hallway.
He cups his hands as he sprints forth and yells as loud as he can, “INTRUDERS, INTRUDERS ARE HERE SECURITY WE’VE BEEN COMPROMISED”.

The petulant anger in Sylvari's features gave way to something more dire as Vonoros proclaimed himself a justiciar. Sylvari wasn't aware of how such titles were used in the rest of the world, but for her People, such a slight as to claim an unearned title would earn you a rough beating at the very least. While, in truth, she could not claim such a status fully herself, as she was no longer a member of those from which she came, Sylvari had at least passed her vigil, so the affront she felt verged on the murderous as her grip on the easygoing triton tightened painfully.
Sylvari remained stoic in the face of Vonoros' continued goading, thinking it was probably a good thing he couldn't see her eyes at the moment. The water he splashed in her face conjured out of nowhere stunned her briefly, as her mind reeled with the possibility of acid or poison, enough for the triton to slip her grasp and begin running down the hall. After a half-second of confusion, Sylvari's senses snapped back to the present, and what she needed to do.
Vonoros called out, raising the alarm as he ran. Amazingly, the seedier members of the establishment fully ignored the green giant thundering passed in favor of impeding Sylvari. She noted with dispassion their sharpened swords and intent to kill evident in their eyes as she ran. If they would impede justice with strength of arms, then I have no choice but to cut them down.
Not slowing down even a little, Sylvari dodged low an across-the-chest swing of one of their swords, lashing out in retaliation with her hammer, which swirled with frost and light [Spell Blade, Arcane Soul] [Celestial, Angelic Light]. The blow connected masterfully, and with a sickening crunch, the man's knee was forced the wrong way as he howled with pain. The next few obstacles were dispatched as easily and quickly as their predecessor, leaving a trail of, thankfully only unconscious, bodies in the dark blur's wake.
She thundered after the triton, defying the seeming limitations of her bulky armor [Knight, Light as a Feather] as she closed with each passing second.

Vonoros didn't dare to look back as he heard the screams and moans caused by the terrifying monster that was trailing behind him.
He chuckled as he ran through his spirits still up, “Woah Sylvi I didn’t know you were that infatuated with me, pretty lady. Sure I think you're cool but come on you’re coming off strong here. If you wanted a date with me you could’ve just asked nicely and I would've said yes after I finished this job. I have people counting on me as a pretty lady. I can't just give up yet I’m sorry”.
He looked back for a second at the armored knight of destruction very close to his trail. He balled his hand gathering cold magic in his palms and shaping it into a large frozen spear (1).
He spun mid-sprint and looked Sylvari right in the eyes with a wink as he chucked it right in front of Sylvari. He didn't wanna hurt the lovely lady just distract her and buy himself enough time a couple of seconds would even be enough. He turned and continued his sprint eyeing down the room surrounded by guards.
“GUYS THIS CRAZY LADY TOOK MY UNIFORM GUYS HELP SHE'S TRYING TO MESS UP THE AUCTION GET HER”.
“RAHHHH”, the guards yell as they charge at Sylvari meanwhile Vonoros simply slips past them and walks through the door locking it behind him.
