It was a cool night out on the glassy lake. The wind harshly gusted through the scarce trees on the shores as a storm brewed on the horizon. Clouds began to race their way towards the location of a small encampment on the northernmost corner of the lake as a gentle thunder rolled across the valley. In the aforementioned encampment, a beautiful blade was leaned against a tree, reflecting the fading moonlight and the bolts of lightning. Just above, an ornate bow was hung on a knot in the same tree. Over by a fire was a single woman, a cleric on her most recent mission. This one, a simple one: Commune with nature… …or at least it seemed simple. The storm would certainly prove a challenge, though not one she hadn’t bared herself against before. This storm, however, seemed to be on the stronger side. She watched as the wind began to lash at the fire, causing it the to whip and flick around in a dramatic dance of natural power. She decided quench the fire and walk towards the lake, where the glassy surface had begun to form dramatic waves, lapping and crashing onto the shores. As the moonlight finally disappeared, she took a wrap acquired from the great Morrigan, lit it, and finally tried some of the fuzzy horse grass that they had so praised. No sooner than her first inhale did she see something off in the distance. Something… blue. Slimy… and moving? “What in the name of the… what the hells is that?”
Seeing this, she stood and grabbed her blade and bow before making her way over to the being. “Who goes there,” she called out, a hint of nerves in her voice.

Their chance had finally come. They could become a real, true, actual knight. Their friend in the Knights of Tegrid had sent them a letter explaining the requirements, and Blue had immediately (had Astrid read the letter for them and then) gone off to do exactly what they needed to do.
Their emblem was safely on their person, now all they had to do was commune with nature. Blue was a natural at that! Kind of. If eating natural things counted, then they were probably the best at it around, but their emblem still wasn't glowing. What else did they need to do to really connect with nature? They asked around, and had taken one piece of advice.
Get naked and feel the nature around them.
Welp, they had taken that advice, and now vaguely humanoid ooze was standing about two feet deep in the waters of Luna Lake, feeling the waves lap at their slimy blue legs. They had looked around for any people that might see them without their armor in the immediate area and hadn't seen anyone, though they might not have looked that hard in their haste to try and become a knight.
They looked up at the sky, clouds gathering and making the area darker. A strong breeze blew over them. They crossed their arms in frustration. What was the problem? They could feel the breeze and the waves on their slime. That was nature, wasn't it? Why wasn't the emblem glued to their chest lighting up? Were they never going to be a real knight?
Behind them, they suddenly heard a shout from someone, breaking them out of their moment of self doubt. Blue was startled, and turned quickly to face whoever it was, their arms out to their sides and in front of them, in a defensive stance.

From the spot in which the ooze stood, they likely would have seen the ferocity in the elf’s eyes from the distance as she knelt with a bow of light aimed at their head. The silvery-white hair flowed in the growing winds of the approaching powerful storm. Her smooth cheeks contrasted heavily with the sharpness of her eyes, staring him down like a soldier. There was an unsureness in her eyes though. She clearly didn’t want to shoot… at least not yet.
When she spoke, the softness of her tone almost cut the tension. “I’m not sure what you are, nor if you even understand me, but I shall give you a fair chance. I am Elvira, Cleric of Lunala from the Temple of the Moon. I am currently on a mission from the Knights of Tegrid and thus, I wish not for trouble. Please, I suggest seeking sh-“ her breath hitched as she saw the emblem of Tegrid on the strange creature’s chest.
Well… this just got interesting.
“Bloody hells! Why did you let me rant on like that? Come on, my camp isn’t far and Mor- err… some wizard gave me something to try on this quest.”
With this, she led the creature back to the camp. The Tegrid emblem didn’t seem to be a free pass, however. As they sat on the shore watching the storm come in, she kept firing strange looks towards Blue. At least, that was until she addressed the elephant in the room.
“So… what are you? Do you have a name? I wish not to offend but… well… you’re not something I’ve come across yet.”

Blue enjoyed a good fight, especially against powerful monsters that they could eat once they'd defeated it, but they hadn't been looking for a fight at this moment. This lady looked pretty ready to fire an arrow at their head though, and they had none of their armor on to protect them. She'd really caught them at a very bad time. It was good that she didn't seem to want to fight at the moment either as she introduced herself.
Blue's fighting stance relaxed as they listened. She introduced herself as a cleric of Lunala. They were pretty sure they knew someone else who was also a cleric of Lunala. And she was also trying to become a Knight of Tegrid?
"I-" Blue started to try and speak, but Elvira continued on, now even offering to bring Blue back to her camp. They followed behind, figuring it was better than standing around on a lake shore any longer. Plus, she apparently had something to try that might help that Morersome wizard gave her. Blue never met anyone named Morersome, but they sounded nice if they were giving out something to help commune with nature.
"Oh, yeah!" Blue nodded and stood up before clearing their nonexistent throat. "My name is-" They started confidently before hesitating for a moment. Shoot, wait, what name should they introduce themself with? They usually told strangers their disguise name, Wolfe, but she'd already seen their full oozey glory, so should they just introduce themself as Blue Raspberry? Lord Geoffrey?
"Blue Raspberry!" They announced, deciding on their true ooze name, and pointing to themself with a thumb. "I'm an ooze, but soon I'm going to be a knight! ...As soon as I can commune with nature... That old guy at the bar said being naked helped him commune with nature, but it didn't work for me, I guess."
Blue shrugged and looked down at their still exposed oozey body. Right, they should fix that. They redonned their full suit of armor, the multitude of metal plates emerging from the slime and coating them. A cloak of black fur emerged and fell to cover their back, the same fur emerging around their waist to drape down into faulds over their thighs.

Elvira flashed a soft, warm, inviting, and charismatic smile when the ooze had identified themselves. This smile had become her signature in her time as a cleric. Many people had seen this smile over the years, but each time somehow felt unique.
“Blue Raspberry? A wonderfully curious name for a wonderfully curious being such as yourself. It is of no doubt to me that the Knights of Tegrid would be lucky to have you, Blue. I’d be willing to bet that you are in love with nature just as I am. I do have to wonder, would you be willing to die to protect the natural world? To uphold the natural order?” She looks out over the lake, now with whitecap waves crashing onto the shores. “That has been my duty for some time now. I am a cleric of graves, of life and death. I heal both skin and soul. I soothe pains, physical and emotion. That is why I wish to join the Knights of Tegrid, to join those who wish to help others in a safe, caring manner.”
That smile fades, making way for a softer smile, this one filled with care and a hint of pain. “What of you, dear Blue? What brings you to the Knightly Order?”

Blue stood with their hands on their hips, their chest out proudly as Elvira flattered them. Yeah, the Knights of Tegrid would be lucky to have them! They were really strong, and they weren't even an actual knight yet. How strong would they be when they were a real knight? It didn't occur to Blue that being a knight was just a title and not actually something that would make them stronger.
Blue nodded along in agreement. They loved nature, sure. They loved the taste of it. A lot of their favorite foods were nature. Bugs, eggs, acorns, were monsters part of nature? Yeah, probably. Definitely at least some of them. Loving nature was accurate.
"Huh?" Blue let out a quiet sound of surprise and looked at Elvira, but she was already looking away from Blue and toward the lake. Willing to die to protect the natural world? Uhhhhhhhhh..... They weren't sure about that. They didn't want to die. There were some things they might be willing to risk their life to protect, but was nature one of them? They wouldn't die to protect a tree or something. They'd actually eaten trees before. They'd eaten a few just recently in their attempts to connect with nature. Was being willing to die for nature a requirement to joining the Knights of Tegrid? Nnnnnnno, right? They'd get back to that later.
Blue could heal physical pain, but they weren't so sure about souls or emotions. That wasn't a requirement too, was it? They hoped not. They did help people though. Maybe not in a safe or caring manner. Their help tended to be more chaotic and messy, but they helped people.
"I want to be a knight!" Blue answered the question proudly, holding a thumbs toward their chest, as if such an answer was a perfect reason for joining a knightly order.
