Just how can I be ok with everything? I bite my lip as I walk through the town, I can at least take a break here without worrying to much about the others finding me. Celeste is busy with handling her upheaval of the place, Arashi is assisting her as a given. Cirice went into hiding for reason still unknown to me, and even Taki is busy with her animals. I glance at the greenery around, spotting flowers of many kinds in pots. Daphnes, my mind supplies me, a wonderful citrus tea flower that also can mean honesty, innocence... well, considering the time, it makes sense for a flower that's known for love to be around.
I glance around the place to arrive at a little antique shop and pause. In the window is an old ear ring. In that holds a connection of the stars and a tree. The gems are dim from age, the metal clearly flimsy and thin, but the carved images were clear in true even under some rust. My memories flash back to long ago, a morning I'd rather not remember, to the end of the battle. The other half of this earring crushed because of my own failure. I blink away those thoughts as the buzzing of curiosity starts to push forward. I look away to watch the people around me. Ever step, the rhythm, the words, movements and patterns. The push releases as I do so, fading away to it's normal buzz as it's power drains into my mini me.
I breath out in a near sigh and break my multi person analysis. Not looking up, I shift my fluffy skirt a bit to fix it up from my travel.

Of particular note is the…group of short crow aviankin. Unusual for the area, both due to being crows and being composed of two live specimens, a ghost and a skeleton. They move through the market, the leading member of the group - a four foot tall…female, probably, given her garb. She’s wearing a tunic the color of blood, embroidered with gray patterns along the hems. The dress is somewhat loose around her neckline, with laces in the little v that are mostly undone. The way she moves…seems to imply that she’s armed, but there’s no visible weapons on her. Her eyes are brilliant silver, with flecks of bone white in the irises. The next tallest crow, the wraith, is a thing of dark smoke and orange embers, standing at roughly six inches shorter than his…wife? The two of them move, talk, and playfully bicker like they’re married, at least. His feathers of dark smoke are peppered with shining orange embers, and his eyes are glowing rings of amber fire set into his head. He leaves a short trail of smoke as he walks, his eyes seeming to rove over their surroundings. He too, moves like a warrior, though there’s a certain awkwardness to his gait that implies he’s unarmed. Finally, the children; a scarlet eyed chick with feathers as deeply black as those belonging to what are probably her mother and father, wearing a short dress that allows her full freedom of movement, and an animate skeleton with shining emerald eyelights, wearing a black tunic that comes down to the middle of their…thigh-bones? The living child is darting about, ooing and ahing at every display, dragging her undead…sibling behind her to stammered protests, seeming unaware of the stares and glares her sibling receives, while the skeleton themself clicks their beak and seems to shrink away under them.
Rena and Bell both watch as their children rush and scramble and dart through the marketplace, dodging out from underfoot and generally doing their best to be everywhere at once. or…Whistle is, at least. Loci seems far more content to curl up in his mother’s arms, if given half a chance. Not that she minds, but she is glad his sister was able to pry him away for this small little adventure. It’s good for him to get away, if only a short distance for a little while. Bell squeezes her shoulder, chirping happily as he nuzzles under her beak, eliciting a soft flush and a gentle admonishment, “...we’re in public, ka’to’bi1…”
Distant Whistle is having the time of her life. It’s her first time being out of the burrow for the monthly Market Day, and while she wishes her big sister were here - why is Elvira an elf anyway, if both their parents are crows? - but she’s doing just fine exploring with her skeleton of a brother, her wide scarlet eyes seeming to drink in every last detail of the activity going on around her and her brother. Speaking of her brother, “isn’t this amazing, Loci? There’s so many people, so many things!”
“Y-ye-yeah, su-sure,” Loci stutters, “c-can w-we go ho-home now? I-I want t-to finish the-that book I-I was re-reading…m-maybe p-polish m-my bones a-and wa-wax my-my joints…” the little skelecrow is…not having as good a time as his sister. He’s miserable and cold - though he’s only really ever warm when snuggling with mom or whistle, or big sis Elvira when she comes to visit, or that one time he decided to nap in the embers of the fireplace, though that got him scolded for scaring mom - and people keep glaring at him, and really he just wants to go home and get back to his reading.

With a mission in mind, I open the door to enter the shop. It's small but full of trinkets. Ancient to newly created, it's safe to say everything here was one of a kind. I put on a smile that beams with cheer and excitement as I approach the counter. There was an elf, a moon elf to be specific, and if his looks said anything, most likely about two hundred years old. I walk with a bit of pep in my step and tap the top of the counter that is rudely above my height. He looks down at me with a gleam of disdain in his eyes. "Hi kid, choose the item you want and bring it up here to pay for it." His voice draws on; he will not try with me on a merchant mentality. I shift my small shoulder straps to move my bag to the side. Then my mini me quickly fits into its holders before I put it back how it was, my doll hidden under my hair. I point with my open hands to the front window. I giggle and rock on my feet as I speak in my light, cheery voice. "I already know what I want; I wanna get the earring with the tree and stars that are showing in the window!" I look up and let my eyes grow to look almost doe-like and in shape. He grits his teeth and picks up a box before slamming it down. "Look here, kid, that isn't for sale, nor ever will be. You can get rings like these here to give to your mom, but you're never getting that earring." I pause as he speaks; the pain and annoyance are evident in his tone; he probably had many who wanted something from the display case. I nod and pout, "Alright... what kind of rings are these?" I point to what he had to offer me. He smiles and opens it to show rings, each with various designs and gems. Two of them piqued my interest, one that had interwoven feathers, and another with a simple gem inside of diamond leaves. I pointed them out to the man and he spoke before even taking them out, "They cost almost ten Solars each; you sure you want to get both?" I roll my eyes with a smile, "My max is above that, but rings don't cost that much. How are these different?" He places a ring straight from the box onto his finger, then hands me a little one on the side, plain and with no gem. A tester ring, then. I feel my excitement rise as I feel something, not me, a strike of what could be fear and worry, pop from the ring. It goes away, and the man behind the counter nearly flings the ring off to put it back in the box. I grin as I realize the magic behind it. "Magic that can connect two people," My voice comes out in a nearly breathless tone. I take it off and hand the testing one back to him. He clears his throat before continuing, whatever he may have felt being beyond what he's used to, I'm sure. "W-well, is there anything you want?" I note he didn't ask about wanting to try any on or even inspecting any of them. He wanted me out if his gaze flickering between me and the door said anything. I told him as such before watching his hurry to put the rest of the rings up. I flick my wrist to summon the solars 1, adding a few extra on top and placing them on the counter. The frantic elf quickly grabbed the solars and rushed to the back. I grin; this worked all too well for me, after all, and glance back to the display case. I raise my hand, curl my magic around the jewel, and quickly lift it off the display and right into my hand. 2 I turn back to face the corner as I place the earring away. 1 He runs around the corner and places the two ring boxes before me. I give a little bow, "Thanks for the rings!" I grin as I grab them and happily skip out of the store, electing to ignore the breath being held behind me. Opening the door to the outside, I wonder if I should put these in my space pocket or my bag. That was until I felt something, or someone, slam into me.

Bell winces as Whistle - still dragging Loci along and very obviously not looking where she’s going. They’ll have to give her some more training on that in the coming weeks - collides headlong into the side of a young girl who’s very obviously both well off and from out of town. The phantasmal crow rushes forward, soaring over the crowd before landing in front of the shop, moving to gently pick both his children and the stranger back up onto their collective feet. Those burning amber eyes glance between Whistle, Loci, and the stranger even as his wife alights next to him.
Rena cocks her head, trilling softly as she swoops in, tucking her - frankly enormous - wings just as she lands, her eyes shining silver as she fusses over her children. Whistle’s a bit dazed and her feathers and tunic are dirty, but she’s otherwise fine. Loci, on the other hand, is scrabbling on the ground, trying to retrieve his hand from where it’s skittering on the ground like a five-legged spider. She pins her son’s escaped hand to the ground with a foot, allowing him to reattach it before stepping off and beginning to dust off her son’s tunic with a murmured, “...well, that could’ve gone worse…you did good, ‘lor’tyrlr’no1”
Whistle lets out a startled caw as she slams into the stranger, crying out as she tumbles to the ground. The little crow lays there on the cobbles, scarlet eyes blinking up at the sky as she processes what just happened. Eventually she pushes to her feet with the help of her mother, taking a moment to shake herself off before looking over at the stranger she’d knocked over, “s-sorry ‘bout that…wasnae lookin’ where I was goin’...” her voice is soft and soothing and smooth, something you’d expect out a vocally trained adult rather than the child she is.
Loci reattaches his extant hand, grumbling quietly as he stomps over to tackle his sister to the ground, eliciting a shriek of protest as he settles on top of Distant Whistle, soaking up the warmth of his sister even as she struggles to try and shove him off of her. “...qu-quit squ-squirmin’, I-I’m try-tryin’ t’g-get comfy…” the little skeleton mumbles, batting away his sister’s attempts to pry him off of her.

I look down at the children and then at the parents. Details over each of them flood into my mind, each fact only growing a sense a warmth for this family. The connections from the apparent father ghost to the mother shows a powerful protection, one of a soul protector. The small skeleton holds magic of necromancy, pulsing death along his body, and from his actions, always itching for a strong sense of warmth, most likely warmth that only those alive can give, since I sense nothing from the other chick.
The mother and the son hold a very strong similarity to me that I can almost feel at home about. The pulsing of death in the chick has a primal urge of hunger wrapped in it, which is why I thought of him itching for warmth rather than just playing around. She is holding the power to have both of these undead out as if nothing is draining her, while having another form of hunger messing with the magic around her. Almost as if the mana within her is not her own original amount.
I grin and wipe of my dress with my hand, wave off the child that apologized. My own light and childish voice coming out, "Think nothing of it little one. Hehe..." The obvious family love radiating from them lightly taps my mind, reminding me about my rejection from finding my own, before leaning down watching them mess around. "Looks like you're having fun." I reach forward with my hand to place it in front of the one on top, letting them choose to accept it or not.

Loci tilts his head at the stranger, emerald eyelights blinking as he lets out a confused trill, “...why does your star look kinda like big sis Elvie’s?” and…it does, the stranger’s pulsing, shining soul-star bright and vibrant and promising incredible warmth, if his experience with his eldest sister is any indication…he shakes his head to refocus, taking the stranger’s hand in his own skeletal talons, his hand gently gripping hers with full awareness of the sort of damage his fingers are capable of.
Whistle takes the opportunity to scramble out from under him, muttering imprecations and glaring daggers…not at her brother, but at the people who stop to stare, as though daring them to make a move, to say something. Noone does, and they quickly move on to other things, uncomfortable under the young chick’s scarlet gaze.
Rena’s eyes flash bone white as she watches the stranger interact with her son, a subtle tension forming in her hands as she prepares to defend her family should it become necessary. She relaxes a little when Loci takes the stranger’s hand without incident, and tilts her head at her son’s words. Something to look into…does the stranger have a Celestial bonded to them as well? No, that seems unlikely. No swirling stars along the skin to indicate such a bond…
Bell trills softly, stepping forward and beginning to gently dust off his daughter’s feathers and tunic, chirping in gentle amusement as she tries to bat away his hands with mutterings of how she can do it herself. “...I know, lort’yrlr ‘no, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to help when I can”
All in all, the strange little family is…nice. The woman in particular seems…kinder and warmer than the other necromancers Keyke has heard of or encountered.

I grab lightly on the little one's arm to pull him up. My smile twitched a moment as I heard the name. I glance around and listen to the family and tilt my head, letting a curious look fill my eyes as I think over my previous interactions of her. "Could you be talking about Elvira?" My eyes give an only lighter glow as I think over the journey I have had with her, and based off of how this family acts, it's a nice group to b with, at least for a bit. I let my smile turn to a light grin, "I met her on the road when I was traveling to help deliver some herbs to a guy I knew that had some health problems." I giggle at the father daughter interaction, pushing down the pebble in my throat as I see the father caring for her, "It's sweet for him to try and help you, I mean, I could never style feathers, my own hair is tough enough as it is."
I shake my head slightly and stand up straight, looking over the family of crows as I realize that I'm half a foot taller than the mother? of the group. I tap my lips with my free hand as I look over the crowds, feeling a small tension grow as fake couples walk by and hold an act of being in love. I lightly tap the hand of the little skeleton boy as I gasp, "Oh shoot, I almost forgot!" My hand reaches down and I fall smoothly into a curtsy to the family, hair falling partially in front of my face as I do so, "My name is Keyke," I remain that way as my eyes start to glow, sensing a spell being cast in the area, light specifically. My eyes shoot to the side for the source to see someone looking into a dark room in a house. Any little bit of tension that had formed in my body relaxed as my eyes dimmed. I let my head turn upward now that my eyes returned to how they were before, a grin still on my face, "a pleasure to meet you."

Whistle’s eyes brighten in wonder as she sees Keyke’s eyes light up, the little crow girl murmuring a quiet, “...shiny eyes…like mom…” her feathers puff out a little as she takes a step closer to the relative stranger…
Loci tilts his head, trilling curiously as wonder and wariness war in his shadowed sockets, his ghostly feathers ruffling as he murmurs, “...you don’t like those people…because they’re lying? Didn’t think anyone else could notice…” the little skeleton has picked up a little trick, watching people’s stars to see if the fluctuations match their behavior…it’s not perfect, and really only good for telling when people aren’t acting the way they feel…but it’s something…and this stranger seems to have a similar trick, or else is just perceptive enough to pick up on things people think they’ve hidden…
Rena tilts her head slightly, the feathers around her beak ruffling in an avian smile as she bobs her head in acknowledgement even as she tenses when the stranger…when Keyke’s eyes glow, her own silver eyes gaining flecks of white as she lets out a curious trill, “...I am known as Rena Brighteyes,” and then she gestures to each member of her little murder in turn, “...the specter here is my husband, Tolling Bell. the wee chick with the ruby eyes is our daughter, Distant Whistle, and the wee bone bird with the ghost-feathers is our son, Buzzing Locusts. We prefer to be called Rena, Bell, Whistle, and Loci, respectively, there’s a subtle tension in her voice, a distinct displeasure, as though the choice of words and tone is more a matter of instilled training than her own choice…
And then a pair of long, ice coated chains shimmer into visibility as they twist and slither through the air around Rena, eliciting a glare from eyes that suddenly burn the same shade of white as clean-picked, frost-riddled bones as she mutters under her breath, ”...and o’course the curse makes itself obvious…” puffs of frozen fog jetting from her throat with each breath before she takes a moment to calm herself.
Bell cocks his head slightly before his feathers ruffle and he glances into the shop that Keyke had come out of, “...I get the impression that the shopkeeper is…displeased with his most recent customer. You wouldn’t have happened to have stolen something? Ach, doesnae matter, and I shouldnae ‘ave asked in the first place. Anyhoo, it’d likely be best if’n we reconvened elsewhere. There’s a lovely little clearing just outside town, if’n y’re comfy discussing further away from pryin’ eyes…where ye dinnae ‘ave t’ keep up appearances”

I look in surprise at the little girl-Whistle's- comment over my eyes. I break my formal posture and stand up in awe, another who's eyes glowed? My mouth was a gap and eyes wide looking over them. Then little Loci's comment brought even more curiosity, this little one's perspective and insight were amazing, was this something pertaining along the line of what he said earlier? About my star? I felt a familiar itch form in the back of my head. It only grew stronger as Rena shifts slightly and even has chains of almost tangible form shimmering around her. My eyes tart glowing once more, but now that it was facing them, those with eyes for details would notice shapes swirling in my eyes, a circle spinning with varieties of shapes swirling with it, looking not unlike magic circles. I flicker my focus between each one until Bell mentions about the store owner. My excited thoughts of theories and a curiosity that began overtaking my mind were pushed back for a moment, making me wince and eyes dim. I look to him as the itch becomes a headache for interrupting it and smile, "Nah, I paid for everything I bought. It's just not everyone is welcoming to a person who looks like their ten then pull off higher levels of magic like space pocket with a flick of my wrist." My smile becomes a bit pulled as the headache settles and the noise around us starts to push on it. With a glance around I nod lightly, "I will take you up on the offer to leave the town, it's a bit much right now."

Bell nods, gesturing for Keyke and his murder to follow as he leads the way toward the clearing in question. The spectral crow begins whistling an aimless, tuneless melody, soon joined by his family as they walk. The children break off from the song every now and then to glance toward either Keyke or the satchel on their mother’s hip. There’s magic being gathered, being warped and twisted to Dark ends under Rena’s will, but it’s hard to tell what spell it’s being shaped into…
Rena, meanwhile, is less focused on the conversation of chirps and whistles - “wonder what’s going on with the newcomer?” “she’s got pretty eyes, I know that much!” “...careful. We dinnae ken if’n we can trust ‘er. Pretty eyes or not, we don’t know anything about her…and I don’t like the idea of letting someone whose mask is so thorough hang around…” - than she is on weaving the spell she needs to cast to craft a shell for her next frozen chick. It’s a complex process, integrating spirit calling and the creation and animation of the shell in such a way that the called spirit will be bound to the shell…
…even as she works, even as the group walks, there’s a stirring in the satchel on her hip, a frozen, blue and brown egg reacting to the magic, the unborn soul within shifting and latching onto the thread of the conjuring magic…
Whistle is unabashed in her analysis of Keyke, those ruby eyes glittering with fascination as she watches the human’s movements, her portion of the musical conversation interspersed with trills of wonderment and curiosity.
Loci is…more reserved than his living sibling, those emerald eye lights tracking over Keyke’s clothes, zeroing in on any spots that could be used to conceal weaponry…though he keeps getting dazzled by the sheer brightness of her star...
