Being back in the Isles was a strange situation for Percy. There were a lot of.....negative memories associated with this place, but it was with such a small section of the Isles. Plus these were the waters he grew up in...maybe it was the shark in him, that animalistic instinct to have a territory, swim in familiar waters, return home no matter how far you drift...who knews.
Either way he found himself back and unsurprisingly at a bar. He was sick of the Marsh Flats and for once wasn't looking to fight. He just wanted a bit of rum, maybe a fancy coconut to put it in, and to not give a damn about anything for a few hours, maybe days.
Since when does Percy ever get anything he wants though? For the first hour or so it seemed like he might have some peace and quiet, but it faded quickly. Two at the bar started an argument that continued to escalate more and more until it was pretty obvious the only way this was ending was with fists. Normally a great opportunity for the shark, but after the fight with Arashi bar fights soured a bit. That guy could actually fight...the rest of these idiots? The fought as badly as Percy did. The only thing he had going for him at the moment was a predator's instincts to fight, nothing trained or disciplined.
So, he tried to ignore the fight for as long as he could. The tipping point was when the two started grabbing at each other and stumbled into Percy. He grumbled and stood up, smashing his coconut mug against one of their heads and punching the other clean in the face.
The bar went quiet for a moment because, as Percy would soon learn, he just threw himself into the middle of a turf fight. Rather than fight each other, they could simply focus on the triton. Yay.
Who knows how long the fight took, but the aftermath was hard to deny. There was not a piece of furniture left standing as Percy stood in the middle of the room, table legs in hand and panting. He had a few cuts and bruises, but he was standing and they weren't.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Isles Lord Yuiichi was leading the Witch of Moonglade through town. He was catching her up on the duty at hand and what they expected. It was a relatively simple job, but given the nature of the target they wanted to be overly cautious.
"Many well known fighters frequent this bar Lady Kamille, I'm sure we can find some to partner....with....you." The lord's throat dried up in fear as he pushed open the door to see the carnage. "Oh....oh no. Y-y-you're one of them!"
Percy wheeled around to see the lord and the witch in the door, "I'm a what...f-f-f-FECKIN SPEAK UP."
Rather than find the words, Lord Yuiichi faints.
"Ye need a better husband there lass."

Ah.... It was that time of the year once again... The lights all around the cities provided for a dreamy sight, and she had hoped she would be able to attend to the feasts this year.
That is, until she saw who was waiting for her at the docks: Lord Yuiichi. An old, good friend, if only for a bit gittery and given to fainting when things got too exciting. Kamille couldn't help but associate him to a fat goat: curious, surely smarter than people gave him credit for, and perhaps living a life too adventurous for his own good. The Witch didn’t need much to agree helping her friend - he'd been the one to help her with the transportation of alchemical reagents, herbs and her expensive silks and furs.
It was hard to say if the presence of her Black Quills made the rich lord more nervous than safe, but everytime he caught sight of Edgar in the distance he shivered. Yet he claimed he would be more at ease if they had more eyes in this mission, and would be willing to spare some gold for hiring someone to work with her. Go figure.
This time, Kamille traded her trademark feathery cloak for a piece that seemed inspired by the local kimonos, with her own tweak: lined with furs and tight at the waist, her coat had long open sleves and drapped over her exposed shoulders. Walking side by side with the noble lord, they did make for a pretty couple - although it could be a bit better if he reached her shoulder.
Upon entering the tavern, she looked surprised to find the aftermath of a brawl - a tad too early for it, perhaps? And even more surprised to see the kind of figure that stood victorious in the middle of it all. A sailor, she recognized them on the distance - the kind of experience you get by running from your lessons to the docks of Sol City. But she hadn’t seen anyone like him before, maybe a triton or something like that, but not-
-thud-
What did not surprise her was Lord Yuiichi's reaction: some raised voices and stuttering later, followed by a thud. Like a fainting goat, just on time. Her eyes followed the fancy lord to the ground, without even flintching or expressing the desire to help him to his feet. Then, she turned her gaze to the brawler that remained.
And flashed one of those pearly white, truly warm smiles of her - if only a little mischievous. Without much fuss, she walked over to the stranger, raising her coat as she navigated through the remains of the fight, broken furniture and downed men.
"Oh, it's not what it looks like. He's not my type - but please don’t tell him that. What's your name? Do you have any plans for tonight?"
Some well placed batting of eyelashes would never get old, she wondered. An old habit, even when she assumed that one to be too smart to fall for it.
"....for a job, that is. Half upon hiring, half upon conclusion. The noble lord here needs some muscle."

Percy was a very simple man, in just about every sense of the word. A careful fluttering of the eyes from an attractive woman was a potent draw for the beast. He smirks and wipes the blood from his hands onto the jacket of one of the drunks on the floor.
"Don't worry lass, wasn't my blood." He grins a shark-tooth filled grin before Kamille elaborates on what she is actually proposing.
Well shite....on one hand more coin is pretty much all the triton is after at this point, but on the other hand....ah forget it. Wasn't worth it to dwell on what was never going to happen. He puts his hands as on his hips as he looks down on the lord.
"Clearly he ain't up to it if I can feckin stare him into the dirt." Percy does nudge him with a foot to make sure he didn't actually scare him to death. There is an incoherent mutter as he wriggles a bit. Good, still alive.
"Tch, foine, ain't like there is shite else to do in this place an' I probably've worn out me welcome 'ere anyways. What's the job then? Ye need me to kick someone's ass er protect it, I'd prefer kickin, but if yer payin enough I ain't keen to complain."

The man didn’t even hesitate in accepting her proposal, which made her smile even brighter - dimples and all. She'd been surrounded by complicated people all her life, it was sort of refreshing to talk to people who were straightforward, without twofold or threefold meanings in their words.
"I assume you know your way around a ship? The noble lord wants help in protecting his ship - and who he holds inside. Chances are there might be people unsatisfied with... the situation. So if you want some fight, there's a high chance you might get it."
His toothy grin - and the noble lord's reaction - makes her think the troublemaker enjoys the fuss. She glances over her friend.
"On your behalf, you do look intimidating."
Sounded like a compliment, which was weird coming from a lady wrapped in expensive pelts that didn’t even flinch when they arrived. She seemed to briefly touch a black feather she wore in a necklace, getting a distant stare for only a couple seconds [1]. The lady quickly smiled back at the man, extending her well manicured hand towards him.
"You can call me Kamille. What's your name?"
As silent as it was possible [2], another man entered the tavern, this one wearing black head to toe. At least a head taller than the woman and twice as large, entirely made of muscles, Edgar approached the noble lord to help him to his feet once again. The man and the woman bore the same pin, that of a black feather, attached to the front of their vests.

It would be refreshing for Kamille seeing as Percy barely hase onefold meaning to his words. He wasn't one to mince words or fully grasp what he was saying and its unintended consequences. The sound of this job does get less and less interesting, guard duty wasn't exactly something a pirate should do, but it's not like he could complain about money.
"Beat the shite outta people ye don't like, I get it simple enough." He looks down at the lord, sneering a bit remembering his attempted comments when he came in. "Just keep that one safe in a nice cushioned chair...hate fer 'im to get caught in the crossfire."
The shark eyes up Edgar as he suddenly seems to just know when to arrive. Weird. If he understood magic, it wouldn't be weird, but he doesn't so it is. He also didn't catch the matching pins at first, but it wasn't hard to assume they worked together seeing as he seemed to be attending to Kamille's needs.
"Percy, just show me to the ship er whatever shite arsehol I'm supposed to be watchin' over and we can hurry this along, no need to keep ye waitin. Sure ye got whatever important things lasses get up to to attend to."
Percy steps over a few unconcious people to get ready to follow Kamille out.

Percy looked like a simple man. Straightforward. She liked that. This would be a breeze.
Or not.
Kamille had led Percy back to the docks, where the noble lord had his boat. Lady Maelstrom wasn’t a specially fancy and pretty boat, but it sure seemed sturdy. Kamille's understanding of ships didn’t go much beyond "It's supposed to float", so all she saw was a battered vessel. Percy could have another understanding of it, and could possibly assess that was a war galleon, who had seen several battles throughout its life, and came out victorious.
Probably a wise decision to chose a tough ship if Percy and Kamille were on it.
Eventually the pompous, perfumed lord recovered his senses, a tad confused as to how he ended up on the chair of his office. At this point Kamille had shed some of her fancy clothes, changing into something simpler and more comfortable: some simple trousers and a lose poets blouse. She asked Percy to wait outside while she filled the lord in to what he missed, and by the sounds that escaped the room, he didn’t look too happy. The Witch was able to not only have the noble lord agree to Percy's employment - and good payment - but when she emerged from his office, she had a wide grin and a bottle of rum on her hand.
"Done! Now all we got to do is wait for the night to start patrolling the ship too. The prisoners are already locked down here, and I managed to grab this very expensive looking bottle, so we got some time to kill. The lord will pay you at sunrise."
She seemed to be having some trouble opening the bottle.
"We can start.... ugh.... Damned th-..... How about we start with the story of the brawl we found you in? What happened back there?"
It would be a long day, and she'd rather fill it with a bit of rum and stories. It was a win-win for her.

Waiting for the lordling to wake up and properly give them the job and Kamille, Percy has stolen a few bottles of alcohol and cigars from the cargo hold. He looks over the bottle he took, then to the one Kamille emerges with. Leave it to the rich prick to stow the good stuff in his own cabin.
The triton takes a seat on a barrel topside as he chomps down on the cork of his own bottle before looking to Kamille. He motions for her to hand it over then bites the corks and spits them into the sea. The expensive bottle is handed back over.
"We'll see if ye get through that bottle on yer own, but I'll need all o' this." He grins and holds up his bottle, picking some of the cork from his rows of sharp teeth.
"S'really not too much to that one, aye? Rare time I ain't lookin fer a fight, but sometimes I just wanna drink...those times is usually when a certain type o' prick appears who ain't keen on lettin me enjoy that in peace.....Long story short, ye put a bunch o' sailors and folk like'em in a small space and fill them wit cheap shite like this," He motions the bottle he takes a swig from. "Well, let's just say that's puttin yer feckin lamp posts next to yer powder."
He cracked and rolled his neck with a groan as he takes another drink, "Plus...if ye look a little odd an' got a few scars an' such an' pricks like to try and pick you out cause ye look like a tough arsehole....people just ain't ready fer me to back it up."

Kamille can definitely hold her liquor....
...but of course she couldn't stand a chance against Percy on that regard. She was halfway through her bottle when she realized it wasn't the ship that was bouncing, so she slowed down and drank some water in between instead. It was no good to drink while on business, and even if she was not alone on that one, she should've kept to that.
Regardless, she was an excelent listener, and seemed very interested in Percy's stories.
"I guess I know the type... Not that I have much experience with bar fights..."
Most likely "none", by the lack of scars and her perfectly manicured nails. She was a caster through and through, with no knowledge of what end you hold a sword.
"I used to run away from my classes to have a few drinks at the taverns by the docks... I guess it's a miracle I never got badly hurt."
A miracle or a fireball, whichever.
"Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking? I don't think I ever saw someone like you before, even coming to the docks regularly. I would remember, I guess. But to me... hm... You feel like the type that wouldn't stand with a crew for long, I guess. The type to chart your own path, and not just follow."
Maybe that was the effect of the rum, but she sounded a bit too interested in the shark man and his whereabouts and skills. Knowing the Witch would be an indication she had an interest in recruiting Percy if he showed himself trustworthy or skillful, but she did look genuinely interested in him as a person despite of that.
"Where did you get that? Whats that story?"
At the very least she seemed to know how to fill the time, and before long, night would fall around them, and Percy would realize at some point she stopped drinking. A couple figures like the man from before could be seen in the background, watching, possibly also in her employ.

Percy does his best to hide his disapproving snarls at what he assumes is Kamille’s privileged life. Classes, sneaking away, avoiding fights, the whole of it all was the exact opposite of what he knew. Percy had no formal education.....or education at all really. He could navigate the seas and chart a map, but reading an actual book was a different story.
He looked at her sideways when she started talking about a crew, “Tch...somethin like that, most folk want their time on the land, aye? I don’t really give a shite fer it...so I just find the next ship heading out.”
“Aye, I doubt ye’d meet many more folk like me....my folk ain’t exactly eh....kind to outsiders. If ye find whatever part of the Isles they are on then yer really fookin lost and better turn tail.”
He does notice Kamille stop drinking, but doesn’t say anything. As much of a jerk as he was, he was never one to make people do something they didn’t want to. The bottle in his hand is empty anyways, taking one last swig as he throws it into the water.
The snarl comes through when Kamille asks after his eye, “Don’t worry about it, if I wanted ye to know then ye wouldn’t, but I don’t.”
For as rough and tumble as he was, the eye was clearly the one thing he was sensitive about. Anyone who knew the story understood, unfortunately he never told anyone how he lost it so no one understood. He was just a jerk who didn’t like talking about his missing eye.
