"If ya can help, ya can do it!" A big, burly human man handed Aconite a shovel and sent them to work. Pathways were on the agenda today, apparently, because thats all they had been told to do. Dig up more and more pathways until they couldn't stand to think of the word anymore. Shovels scraping into the dirt could be heard all around as volunteers dug into the earth, preparing everything from streets to wells to who knows what.
Aconite didn't mind the work, although they didn't exactly enjoy it. It was more of something to do, and they'd like to spend their time helping out with something big. There wasn't a plan for how long to keep doing this, they supposed they'd stay until everything was finished. Help out with a big project and maybe get some money. That sounded nice.
Digging, digging, digging. Some people talked while doing this, trying to keep from getting incredibly bored. And it seems like someone decided Aconite would be the best person to talk to, because, with a shovel in hand, that person walked over to them and started to help them dig. "Hey!" Came the cheerful greeting. Aconite looked over and glanced at the new companion. A tall elven woman looked down at them with a smile. Moon elf, by the looks of it. Long, black hair with a friendly face, wearing a cardigan and dark gray leggings. She kept smiling as Aconite gave a nod of greeting, then continued shoveling. "You new to the project?" Aconite nodded again. "Thats cool! I've been here since the start, its so nice to help out, right?" Aconite resisted the urge to say something snappy back to them and just nodded again. Couldn't she take the hint and go away already? Jeez.
They both continued shoveling in silence for a moment, then the woman spoke up again. "Not very chatty, huh?" Aconite bit their lip. People, not a fan. "Well, I think you'd have a pretty voice!" She was too cheerful. Aconite gripped their shovel harder and kept digging, trying to ignore this chatty person. But, alas, she wasn't giving up just yet. She continued to talk about random things, saying enough for the both of them.
Someone save me. Aconite just nodded along silently. Hopefully someone will come rescue them from this fate.

Celeste arrived with horses and some of her own workers - People she paid, that she offered to help the development. As she pulled herself off of her horse and approached the director, she smiles gently to everyone else. One who was in the same mindset would obviously be able to tell she did not want to be here. Unfortunately, in the world of politics, charitable and kind acts were a gods-given gift for making a name. Plus, her dear brother had mentioned that they should make nice with other states, and what better way than to help fund and support a new homestead?
The two talked for a little, cracking jokes and smiling. Eventually, annoyance settled on her face, and gently reminding herself that she needed to keep up the appearance, she took a couple of shovels, handed some to her helpers, and grabbed one for herself.
At this point, many people were staring. Not a lot of people knew who she was here, and that was hopefully set to change soon. For now, she was one of them, and she would act as so. She set off, making her way towards the happy chirpy person, and the rather quiet one. Celeste had clocked her as someone who didn’t want to speak just as much as she, so it would be perfect. The Elven woman walked off, a bit intimidated by someone who looked so… Present.
Celeste smiled, sickenly sweet, towards the elven girl, and nodded to the younger one. Then just started shovelling. Quietly.
“What a weird combo,” Someone noted behind them. “A pale, ghostly stranger and a spider-girl. Huh.”

Giving a nod back, Aconite continued digging, trying to ignore the comment from behind them. They gripped their shovel even tighter, digging quicker and sending dirt into the face of someone close by. The person glared at them before wiping their face and continuing to work. Aconite gave their own glare to them before looking down and going back to work. They wiped their hand over their forehead and paused for a moment, taking a breath.
They could feel eyes on them. Feel them as if it were something alive and real clawing into them. Aconite didn't bother turning around, figuring the person would get bored and move on. Unfortunately for Aconite, that wouldn't be the case. Probably some kid with their parents, who for some reason brought them here. When they finally glanced behind them, it was actually an older fellblood glaring at them. So this was a day of glaring, huh? Aconite sent a glare back and resumed work.
Aconite glanced at the stranger after a few more minutes, then back down. They were moving along at a steady pace, digging up the marked areas for paths. This was going to bore Aconite to death soon enough, even with all the work to do. So, just for a laugh, they sent another pile of dirt 'accidentally' into the persons face from before. "Oops. Sorry."
They got an even harsher glare than from before, and the person seemed to debate punching Aconite. They decided against it and went back to shoveling, sending a few more glares along the way. Things needed to either be diffused quickly, or this all would boil and then explode. Aconite, personally, was hoping for a good fight to have. Seemed the fellblood wished for it to, considering how much he was glaring at them.

Celeste couldn’t help but be a little amused by their antics, but Celeste did not place herself next to the spider girl just for kicks. She sensed the hostility coming from the other patrons, and the little one’s insistence on fighting them wasn’t helping anyone’s situation. Celeste would send the spider girl a small glance, a look that simply requested that she behave. “Now, now… This is not the place, nor time.” She said, more to the fellblood and those surrounding him than she did to Aconite.
She just simply heard a scoff. Celeste, almost to her point of snapping now, pushed the sharpened tool in her hands down into the dirt, and turned to the Fellblood. She was lucky she was able to do this, as she met the eyes of the fellblood, and walked up to him, slowly and calculatingly. Her eyes morphed from a soft blue, to a deafening white, to almost a dark purple. “I suggest,” She says, her voice quiet and threatening, “That you boys begin to behave yourselves. After all, I could simply remove you and yours from the premises if that begs to be too difficult for you.” She glowered at them, meeting their eyes daringly.
“Maybe you should ask your little buddy to stop with their shit, huh?” The fellblood replied venomously as he turned to walk away.
Once the fellblood walked away, Celeste returned to the spot she was at, and did look over to the girl. “They're right. This is not the place nor the time.” She repeats from before, a lot softer than she was towards the boys. Celeste held her hand out. “Celeste Seiko. I’m overseeing part of this project.” She says, introducing herself with a smile.

Aconite was about to grin victoriously at the fellblood, before Celeste turned back to them. They frowned and glanced at her extended hand, but refused to take it. "Cool." Was their simple reply, refusing to give their name. It wasn't caution, Aconite was just a jerk. They were clearly debating sending another shovel full of dirt at the fellblood, just for some spite. But they didn't, yet. With a turn, Aconite bent back down to continue shoveling. They didn't offer anything about themselves, just turned to silently continue digging. Everyone around them continued working, even the incredibly annoyed fellblood who wouldn't stop glaring. Aconite bit back a grin, pleased with themselves.
A slight drizzle started, thankfully not pouring rain. It put some in better spirits, the rain feeling fresh and cool on their skin. Others, like Aconite and the fellblood, just seemed more bitter. Some started to sing with each other, talking and laughing loudly as they all worked together. Aconite subtly rolled their eyes and continued digging.
The rain continued drizzling, and the air smelled of the earth. The clouds slowly darkened, promising a heavier rain soon. Aconite scowled and picked up their shovel, already displeased with how much rain was on them. This sucks. Aconite glanced around and saw many others looking ready to head for shelter, a few already walking towards a building close by.

Celeste seemed a little annoyed, but took it for what it was. The kid needed to get her attitude sorted, but that was not Celeste’s job. She just simply turned away, shrugging it off. She couldn’t blame her. Celeste was sure, at some point, she was probably exactly like her.
As it began to drizzle, and people began to complain, she deftly ignored the surrounding complaints. It was a small drizzle, nothing to cry home about. She did look up, seeing the overcast clouds, and the looming threat of a storm. Celeste shrugged, and kept going.
People gave up too easily. That’s what Celeste gathered from this. Though this was turning out to be quite the storm, Celeste seemed unbothered. She kept digging as those around her began looking for shelter, even getting mad at the unexpected rain. Celeste did eventually steal a glance towards the spider youth next to her, and paused for a moment. Why did people hate the rain so much?
Celeste sighed, and pulled out a cloth, of some sort. It was dark in color and pretty thick. Not enough to cover from bad weather, but enough to keep some rain off. (The Snuggle) Celeste quietly offered it to the girl. “Take it and go get some shelter.” She instructed. Not a request. An order. Celeste paused, realizing how bitchy she sounded, and then added quietly. “Um. Please.”
The cloth levitated a little, and almost as if it were alive, floated above the two, and eventually covering Aconite, like an umbrella of sort.

Aconite hesitated, and then nodded. "Alright, uh, thanks." They said, and then turned to follow the others towards the building. Unfortunately for them, the fellblood was a few paces ahead and was going towards the place as well. Or, more accurately, fortunately for them. Aconite quickened the pace ever so slightly to fall in line with the man, and then 'accidentally' kicked his leg and made him fall. "Whoops, sorry." They smiled innocently at him, and moved on before he could get back up.
They hurried into the building and sat down on a chair, crossing their arms and waiting for the fellblood. In he came, with some mud on his clothes and a very sour look. He turned and saw Aconite sitting there smugly. Pointing at them, he strode over. "You! You tripped me!" He yelled, and Aconite blinked innocently. "I don't think I did. Did I?" People were turning to stare, and the fellblood got red in the face. "Yeah, you did!" He snapped. Gazes fell upon the man, watching him scream at this random person.
"Well. That sucks." Aconite stood up and was a couple inches above the man, frowning down at him. "I think it'd be best for you to go, then. Maybe you need to think a little." The man was fuming and turned to stomp away. Aconite sat back down and stuck a leg out, making him trip yet again. They sent a challenging look to him, and he turned back and stood over Aconites chair. "You're gonna regret this, kid." He hissed, before storming away.
