With the knight dealt with and Javal holding the rear with brutality and efficiency Mariana simply followed between the two up the stairs of the tower while hacking at the few enemies that made it close to flanking Javal and deflecting ranged attacks from Flint's back. His crash through the tower door caused her to giggle as she imagined Edric watching from outside the painting. At the tower's tip now finally Lord Boricelli burst into pre-mature celebration.
"So you're the idiot who painted yourself into this mess? You're far less impressive than this painting would suggest." Her insult lost its impact, only eliciting an eyebrow raise before Flint hauled Boricelli up and out of the tower.
Javal followed, seeming far more excited than he should have been to jump to his death. Mariana rushed over, adrenaline still pumping through her veins, and leapt off after the two of them. One heartbeat later, as she free feel towards the painted earth she realized her mistake.
"Ahhhhh!!!!!" A scream echoed out as the realization that she'd be dead soon set in. She had jumped further than the rest and had no hope of catching or being caught by either of them.
A strange brightness washed over the surroundings as she fell, blinding her momentarily. An ear piercing screech rang through the air the next moment and Mariana saw Octavia diving towards her at high speed. Only seconds before she impacted the ground Octavia swooped under and caught her in the saddle, the force sent Mariana sprawling on the griffon and knocked the breath out of her. With a few strong beats of her wings Octavia kept them from crashing into the ground and swept up once more towards her slowly descending friends.
Her heart beat was jumping into her throat and her body was shaking with anticipation of death still as she hung on desperately to the bird, her savior once more. But how had she gotten down the stairwell?
A sound of tearing fabric as loud as thunder roared around them all as the sky itself was torn asunder. Blinding light once more entered the painting as an enormous knife blade ripped across the sky, digging into the landscape and leaving a trail of torn earth and debris behind it.
"I"MMM SSSOOO SSSOOORRRRYYY BBBOOORRRIIICCCEEELLLLIII!" A voice, sounding like a giant's accompanied the destruction.
