There was a good reason the guards were being so careful in keeping their magic from them.
As soon as Zak busts the device keeping the anti-magic field, a great maelstrom of mana quickly filled every inch of their prison, as well as a wave of heat and fire [1]: from Kamille's hands, two small balls of fire erupted, and when she combined them in front of her body, a massive orb of spinning flames was shaped, jumping at the guards that scrambled to their feet to try and stop Zak [2]. The force of the impact was so great that the walls of the place shook, Mischief barely escaping in time as the flames licked at the stone and everyone around. The couple of guards who survived the kiss of the flames remained burning [3], and promptly fled the prison screaming and sounding the alarm, including the guard with the crossbow.
They had no time to waste. Kamille still felt the sharp pain on her shoulder where the bolt of the crossbow was stuck, but wouldn't touch it for now. She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to feel the vibrations of the earth to learn the layout of the place [4].
"This place is too small for me to summon Kalaf. We need to follow a corridor ahead, but quickly. There's more guards coming."
Kamille steps ahead to guide them through the corridors that will take them to the exit, clearly holding back against the pain in her shoulder as she got paler by the moment.
As long as the fire kept burning, she would hold it. But they needed to be fast.

As Ube retreated backwards in pain, a feeling like an old friend returning poured into the fellblood. Even with their lack of experience, they already knew what was occurring. Before they could unleash any sort of spell, the chamber they were in suddenly shook with bursts of heat filling the room. The sight was a little scary if not for the severe grudge Ube held for these people as the men who had been giving everyone trouble were now lovingly coated in man's greatest discovery before magic. Turning to see Kamille leading out to what she seemingly knew as the way out, they limped along as best as they could. The given cut wasn't the first bit of damaging pain they had dealt with but even then, it wasn't exactly enough experience to easily power through it.
As Ube made their way, they made sure Zak and the other close-by captives were able to follow suit. While a majority of the men had caught on fire, a few managed to put themselves out relatively quickly and were making their way over. A bit more time needed to be bought for everyone to vacate the room, perhaps even more if they wanted to wait for all of the prisoners to make their escape. Focus, just like how you were taught. Deep breaths. With a rushed deep breath, an ever present energy swarmed the fellblood. The stripes that adorned the limbs and body of this fellblood began to emit a vibrant pink light. Place your magic into one point Ube. Visualize it. They put out a hand, forming a finger gun as the air around their palm pulsated with a static. It moved slowly, pink sparks traveling down the wrist, across the palms, and collecting around the extended fingertip. And... Fire! 1They aimed at the nearest approaching guard as a bolt released as their cast. It danced through the air before colliding along the chest plate of the man, sparks being sent all throughout his body. They continued the pressure, repeatedly firing chaos bolts in their best attempt to hold off the men as everyone made their way to the exit.

Vision blurred by rage and the chaos happening around him, Zak’s head throbbed, mana and anger threatening to overwhelm his composure. “First you take my gods, then my magick”, Zak cried out in a choked croak, not sure who or what he was shouting at. Flames pierced the edge of his consciousness, bringing him suddenly back to his senses. Catching his breath as the pain from his injuries returned in full force, Zak’s surroundings came into focus once more. Fire! Kamille the Pyromancer unleashed! Guards retreating! Zak felt a brief surge of triumph. We’re going to get out of this, he thought as he saw Kamille move out of sight down the corridor and the fellblood make a path with their blasts of pink sparks. Before following in Kamille’s and the fellblood’s wake, Zak moved his hand in a circle and whispered, “Protect!”(1), bringing forth a small bubble of static energy that quickly spread and surrounded his body. Zak didn’t think his body could withstand another blow. Quickly deciding to avoid maneuvering through the rubble, Zak snapped his fingers and blinked, his body disappearing into a mist (2). At the entrance to the cavern, Zak reappeared within a few feet of the fellblood. Taking stock of his surroundings, he nodded toward the fellblood, hoping his sudden appearance hadn’t startled them. “Well met, comrade,” he said quietly. “Kamille,” he added more loudly, acknowledging Kamille as she moved swiftly towards the exit. Before he could say more, Zak noticed some movement further down the corridor. “Ahead,” he cried. “Oncoming.” More guards? They weren't out of danger yet. Murmuring unintelligible words, Zak’s incantation invoked wind that began to spiral around each of his fingertips forming tiny orbs (3). His attention narrowed, prepared to send the air bullets flying when more enemies appeared.

It's been such a long time... But something in Zak's words pierced through the chaos and ringed in mind. Now was not the time to talk, but certainly they would have an oportunity later...
If they escaped.
Not that she ever put that into question: most who crossed her path were met with magic, either from her or from her companions. When Zak called out her name and warned them about oncoming guards, she raised her hand, but he was still faster. The place they were being held was clearly underground or at least inside a mountain, as most walls were bared stone and there were no windows, with torches placed at regular intervals. They were led out to a tunnel that followed slithering through the underground, without any indication of which direction they should follow. Regardless, Kamille seemed rather confident when striding along the path, as if she knew where they needed to go, glancing over her shoulder to see if Ube and Zak were close. While Ube was making sure the rest of the prisoners were also safely out of their captivity, Kamille and Zak opened way through the guards.
With fire cracking at her fingertips, the Witch seemed ready to release it as a group of guards turned the corner and came into her sight at the end of the corridor, weapons already at hand. Zak's air bullets were their welcoming greeting as they attacked, but not nearly the end of it. She didn’t look surprised to see them, but she did hesitate when one of them halted abruptly, with an arrow suddenly stuck across his neck.
An arrow with black feathers.
The two remaining guards seemed to have lost their courage for a second, and it became their undoing, as they turned to the way they came barely in time to see the archer that struck down their companion... or the assassin that would come after. Without being given the chance to raise his sword, the second guard was promptly impaled by two, long daggers that stuck to his back and almost raised him off his feet. With a mantle of invisibility shimmering and fading away, his attacker was revealed to be a tall, rather bulky half-elf dressed in black from head to toe, with a discrete pin of a black feather on his chest. Another arrow flew by, and the third guard was also down.
Despite the ominous presence that radiated from the assassin in black, Kamille smiled, as he took his twin blades off of the guards back. Another man, dressed the same way but not nearly as bulky, joined him in a matter of seconds, bow in hands with an arrow already in place.
"Why you stopped? We ne- OH! What a coincidence, Mother! Perchance would Mother Raven be in need of some rescuing? ....Again?"
While the assassin had a heavy, grave and grumpy expression, the archer was almost entirely the opposite, opening up a bright smile once he spotted the Witch. They both looked as surprised to see her as she was surprised to see them. Kamille turned to her companions and the rest of the prisoners.
"They are with me. They'll lead us out of here. Go on, hurry!"
Kamille would allow the prisoners to go ahead, towards the path her men had already carved out through their own raiding of the cave. It was clear the prisoners were distrustful - or at the very least, incredibly afraid - of the assassin, but followed on regardless. The archer approached.
"You okay to go, boss? You're pale."
"Just... Let us get out of here quickly. More guards are coming. Ube, Zak, this is Allan, he works for me."

Ube followed behind for a moment before stopping, the countless other prisoners passing them by. Kamille and Zak were making their way out but there was something missing still from the fellblood. Though it was dangerous to stay here any longer than required, their robe and book were things they simply couldn't part with. So, the fellblood made a quick decision and turned back to search, allowing the crowd of escapees to mask their leave. They thought it best not to involve them as it wasn't their business, not to mention it would put those two at risk just for some personal items Ube didn't want to let go of. Everyone has had already had their fill of injuries. They could apologize to the witch for acting brashly later just so long as they made it out without any further wounds.
It took a great deal of exploration and hiding before they could get any sort of idea where their stuff could be. Hiding behind a stack of barrels, they managed to overhear a pair of voices walking past. "Oi, did you shift your positions with the others? You were meant to guard the storeroom." "Captain Edrisyl moved everyone to scout the area. Two of our high targets escaped so I had a few stay back there." Ube waited for the marching metal footsteps moved away until it was completely silent. They peeked their head out from behind their hiding spot. Ok, should be this way then. Quickly moving away from the barrels, Ube ran to opposite to where the two guards headed.
At the very end of the hall, the fellblood spotted from around the corner: A inhumanly bulky guard covered in full metal armor stood in front of a locked door. They sat their thinking for a moment. How am I getting past that?... Well... Ube wanted to save this for a surprise to show their teacher their magical capabilities. Admittedly, they weren't exactly meant to learn something of a higher level just yet but it wasn't like there'd be a witness to this. With a quiet huff, they moved out from the corner and faced the freakishly large being. "Prisoner!" The man stepped forward, unsheathing a particularly large halberd that matched the man's size. How apt. With baited breath, Ube raised their hand as a familiar glow and pink lightning on a single fingertip made its appearance. However, instead of aiming their cast at the man, they slowly raised their hand and pointed a finger gun towards their own head: The lightning dangerously close to making contact. The man looked at the fellblood, utterly confused. With a head tilt and a smile, they opened their mouth and made speech in a tongue a select few would only recognized.
"Halika, manananngal." The bolt fired, piercing through the head. What was baffling, though, was that no marks were left nor was any blood spilt. 1Rather, a faint and transparent image of another head flew out the other side of the shot. It appeared to pull itself away from Ube's body as a body of its own began to form. Long, silken white hair sprouted from the head, arms and hands ending in sharpen nails that'd rival daggers, large wings that reflected those of a bat growing from the back, the face being one of a grotesque nature. The jaw appeared to be unhinged with an abnormally open mouth with bright yellow eyes glaring down at its enemy. The man backed in fear, now pointing his weapon at the summoned monstrosity. "Kumain, samira, hamatset." The winged lady, understanding the language the fellblood spoke, made its attack as it swooped down towards the man.

Zak took no notice of the welfare of the escaping prisoners, nor paid any attention to the extensive cave structure they were traversing through. He was running on feral instinct; his focus narrowed, keeping watch for anyone that tried to hinder their exit. When more guards came around the corner, Zak fired off the air bullets swirling around his fingertips (1), finding their target. Preparing to strike again, he stopped, confused when one of the guards stumbled, falling forward with an arrow protruding from their neck. Who shot that arrow? he wondered, looking around. While Zak hesitated, the other guards were dispatched by two formidable men dressed all in black. Before Zak could decide whether they were friend or foe, one of them greeted Kamille. Skeptical, Zak held back while they conversed, breathing deep to reign in his anger that urged him to keep fighting. They work for her? Interesting. Zak knew that Kamille had grown in power and influence since he’d last seen her, but… she now employed …assassins? They certainly had quite a lot to catch up on. So Ube was the fellblood’s name, eh? Zak looked back to address them, but they were no longer there. Scanning in all directions, Zak tried to find Ube with no luck. Damn, not now, he thought. Where’d they go?
“Well met, Allan," Zak said in a flat tone, emotions firmly in check. "Uh, Kamille, I think we’ve misplaced your friend Ube.”

The Black Quills had seemingly cleared the way out, but still kept guard and watch to see if more cultists would try to intercept them on their way out. While they could get in and out of places without being noticed, they were now on a rescue mission - and that was a bit harder to carry on unsuspected.
Kamille was apparently too focused on that too, momentarily turning her attention to the bolt of the crossbow on her shoulder. She was starting to feel her legs weak and a numbness spreading her fingers, so she figured she needed to take care of that soon enough.
And then Zak brought her attention back to the moment, and her head bolted around as she noticed that, indeed, Ube was missing. A look of worry spread on her face, as her eyes widened. A sense of urgency imediately pierced through the cloud that threatened to take over her consciousness.
"Oh, dear........"
Was all she could muster, before she looked around for a moment. Calm down, Ube knows how to fend for themself. She closed her eyes, trying to feel all movement in the vicinity [1]. While she could feel the line of prisoners being led by Edgar getting out of the prison, she also noticed another group of guards trying to reasemble, and...
Her abilities weren't even needed to find Ube, as she felt a spike in his mana. They were fighting somewhere else, and without a second thought she ran towards it.
"Allan! More guards coming from the right! I'm gonna find Ube!"
It wouldn't take long to find the fellblood, but where Ube strived for stealth, Kamille just came in rolling with as much subtlety as a flying cow. The first guard that widened his eyes at her quickly found himself flying back from where he came with a firebolt to his chest [2].
"UBE! What are you doing!? We need to go!"

The swooping half-bodied woman grabbed the man by the throat, pushing him into the wall with a tight grip. With one hand, she reeled back and began clawing at the helmet whilst still keeping the now fearfully screaming man in her grasp. Ube rushed over, fighting to pull the halberd away from him. With the added help of the summoned monstrosity, the weapon was taken and discarded to the side as the manananggal continued to choke the man. With one last strike to the head, the man fell unconscious, both from the lack of oxygen and having a relatively unknown monster attack it.
Checking the guard over, Ube procured a ring of keys. Fumbling through them all and moving through the motions of trial and error, the locked door opened. However, instead of opening to the sight of a storage room, all that was visible was fire. Crates, chests, all aflame. At the center of it all: A familiar sounding sun elf, a lit match on his fingertips. "Ah, so you were the one making that noise. I'm sorry, were you looking for something?" he spoke, almost mockingly. The fellblood was wide-eyed. Frantically, their eyes dart across the room as they scanned for their belongings, practically praying to whoever would hear for their things not to be in the burning rubble. They rushed over to the nearest pile of burning items, digging into and ignoring the heat of the flame. It hurt, it singed and darkened their skin. It doesn't matter.
They continued to desperately rummage through the pain as the elf spoke up. "Looking for this?" Ube immediately craned their neck over to him to see him holding a familiar booklet and robes. "The witch didn't mention an apprentice before. We knew of her people of course, figured that man from the guild would make a good bargaining chip but lo' and behold, you both happened to fall upon my mercy." He raised the items above his head, shaking them in a taunting manner. "Well, you were until those idiotic men managed to let our higher priority targets escape. So you see, I would really like things to go my way now and for that, I need something to offer. You stay here so you can be precious bait or I burn these things you really want for some reason and you along with it."
Before Ube even had a chance to respond, they quickly turned around to hear the sounds of a full sprint echoing throughout the cave walls, the shouting of guards drawing closer and closer. "Oh? Seems like you've already done the job. Well, I thank you." They turned back to the sun elf...
Their book was torn and aflame, their robe beginning to catch fire in the man's hands. For a moment, time felt to slow to a crawl. He tossed the robe onto the floor as the pages scattered throughout the room. Lit parchment with conversations from the past almost danced in the air: Conversations with aiti, the bargaining and arguments with father, the poorly drawn art of a hopeful kid. Even recent writings with those met passed by: Discussions with a woman who liked flowers, reassuring talks with the townspeople where they ran away to, the teachings from a kind mentor. Their way of being able to communicate, each collected memory made thanks to it, now burning to ashes flying around the fellblood... Ube's vision started to get blurry as their eyes began to well up. They were doing their best to hold it back, their breathing beginning to speed up. They can hear someone yelling but by this point, everything has become white noise. Their eyes were unblinking to the ash in the wind. The heat of the flames that were scattered across the room slowly started to feel like nothing. Slowly, their gaze moved to the elf.
The man looked on with a smile, knowing he'd gotten what he wanted. That smile... it rubbed Ube the wrong way. How dare he be so happy? He does not care for the contents of what he just destroyed. Why? Why was this happening? Just what did they get into? This wasn't fair. This wasn't right. What did they want so badly? How could this possibly be right? Why is he so happy about this? Why? Why?! WHY?!
Their fists tightened, nails digging into the palms with how hard they were clenching their hands. Ube's head moved down, staring at the robe they treasured so much. The flames were still tenderly charring the silk. They raised a hand to reach for it. "Oh, no. You can't have that anymore." The elf placed their boot onto it...
Ube's eyes dilated, their mouth quivering as they tried to find words to say. Much like every other time, a sound wouldn't escape. They wanted to shout, they wanted to yell. Something, anything! To hell with this man! This wasn't fair! He shouldn't get to be happy!
Something new to began to build within the demon. A hate. A burning hate. All pointed to this man. Their face began to flush, their entire body began to feel warm and tingly. Slowly, Ube rose to their feet, giving a sharp inhale before letting out a wailing scream. Every amount of anger being dumped out through an unused voice. As they do, a different kind of magic, one Ube has never previously used, began to coat their hands. The burnt hands gave off a heat, barely noticeable at first. The temperature rose hotter, the familiar glow of ether filled the fellblood's markings as it gave it the pink glow. The hands grew hotter still, matching the anger Ube felt until finally, 1the fists of a currently unforgiving demon caught aflame.
Unquestioning and thinking of nothing but to harm this man, Ube dashed at him and planted a flaming strike to the stomach, the summoned monster following behind.

When Kamille ran off to find Ube, Zak could do nothing less than follow her. The two of them raced back the way they came. Guards were everywhere now. It didn’t take much for Kamille to dispatch them quickly now that her mana had returned. Zak got off a few quick shots (1) as well as they moved through the tunnel. Where could the blasted fellblood be? They were right behind him when they left the cavern where they had been imprisoned. Why had they not followed? Turning a corner, Zak stopped suddenly. He wasn’t quite sure what he had expected to see, but it sure wasn’t the sight before him now. The fellblood he had first set eyes on in the prison cell had transformed into something else entirely. Ube was pummeling a guard using their flame engulfed fists with such fury that Zak could feel the emanations of anger from where he stood several meters away. But that was not all he saw. A large grotesque entity hovered behind Ube, most likely summoned by the fellblood. The winged creature reeked of Dark Magick, her intense yellow eyes glowing with malice and evil. What on Charon was Ube doing? “Ube,” Zak yelled. “We need to get out of here.”

The scene they entered was a chaotic one, dust rising from debri, heat hitting them in waves, and... burnt paper.
It took only a second for the realization to hit her, as a charred page written in a familiar hand writing idly flew before her eyes.
No, Ube...!
But even more than the realization that their notebook seemed to be gone, an ungodly screech filled the air, and it was with shock that she saw it came from Ube.
Sweet Ube. Patient, diligent and full of secrets... What have you gone through?
The man looked as surprised as the Witch, taking the brunt of their strike and doubling over their fist. He wasn’t without any tricks, though, as he didn’t wait for any more harm to come to him before his whole figure was consumed by a void: his weight suddenly lifted from Ube's fist, as he became ethereal and passed through everything solid. He seemed about to leave, just passing through the walls as if they meant nothing - but not without a last minute teasing first. He swallowed his pain, long enough to taunt the fellblood with a last, mocking smile before waving and passing through a wall, not unlike a ghost would.
A lightning struck the wall he had just gone through, traveling so close to Ube that they might feel the hairs of their scruff standing up. Kamille had tried to fling one more spell at the fleeing man, but he was gone already. She ran to Ube, feeling the ground shaking beneath her feet, and turned the fellblood to face her, a deep concern taking her delicate features.
"Ube, I promise you I'll help you find him later if you want, but right now we have to GO!"
Without allowing for much complaint, she took the fellblood by the hand and turned on her heels, ready to leave. If Zak didn’t take the lead, she would also take his hand and drag both of them out from the same path they came by, seeing as that was already secured by the Black Quills.
