“He don’t look so special to me.” Ak’ka grunted, staring down at the thrall, ambling towards her like some little porcelain puppet made of melted, rotting flesh being pulled by strings, joints too stiff to move on its own. One leg over the other, in awkward, dragging motions behind it, pulling its feet through the dirt. The sight of the ugly corpse didn’t scare her, but somethin’ about the way it moved, the way it inched closer to her without a hurry in the world - and the way Carmine seemed so damn confident - it unnerved her.
It got close enough to raise one of its arms, joints creaking and groaning in protest where they shoulda stopped moving ages ago at the thrall’s death, but had been forced to continue this farce of being a punching bag for a madman. Ak’ka raised one of her lower arms over her torso to block the hit, the fist connecting with a muscular forearm with a weak little thwap.
“Huh.” Ak’ka’s thick brows furrowed in confusion. With how this guy was talkin’, she expected more from this thing. “That wasn’t so bad -“
And then her world exploded in pain.
Ak’ka was no stranger to the feeling. She’d been in hundreds of battles before. Wars in the World’s Crown, wrought countless scars along her body. But there was nothing quite like getting a taste of your own medicine. And Ak’ka was about to be treated to a taste of her own medicine. Ak’ka was flung back through the air, unimaginable pain wracking through her body, her back feeling like it was snapping and cracking from the force that was coursing through her body.
Ugh. Is that what I really feel like?
Suddenly she felt sorry for all of the enemies who were stupid enough to earn her wrath.
Get the fuck up, Bonegrinder. That was just a lovetap. With a groan, Ak’ka picked herself up, wiping dirt off her shirt with two of her arms, massaging her spine into working condition with the other. It was true - she’d been through worse pain before. She could hardly let that stop her here.
And that damned scientist was still taking notes in his book like this was some real entertaining show.
What was Ak’ka supposed to do against something she couldn’t hit? She wasn’t exactly itching to take another blow from that thing. Usually, when Ak’ka met a problem she couldn’t solve by hitting, she hit harder until it was taken care of. But what did you do when you just… couldn’t do that?
She closed her eyes, remembering what her enemies had once done to her, when they couldn’t get rid of her - couldn’t stop her rampage.
They buried her in a mountain of snow and ice.
A prison.
Ak’ka opened her eyes, suddenly knowing what to do. She called upon that feeling, trying to remember what it was like - and around her, ash clouds turned to ice, coating them all in a blanket of rapidly-falling snow.[1]
Ak’ka had brought the storm with her.
She grinned. 1. Frost Cloak (Elementalist I)

As Ak’ka finished off the undead Javal approached at her side ready to face what else Carmine had up his sleeve.
Carmine not even looking at the two just staring straight at his notebook writing very quickly only muttering to himself.
As he realized that his thrall had been thwarted he looked up from his notebook and simply giggled, “Oh wow this is so fascinating. The brutish orc had the intelligence to thwart the thrall with simple snowfall since she couldn’t take on her strength, interesting, interesting. Well let’s try another experiment here and see what happens”, He says laughing as he raises his right hand to the air and shouts, “Patchwork 6: Skullflame appears and helps out Patchwork 7 up from his snowfall-induced slumber”.
Suddenly a skeleton with red leather shorts, red fingerless gloves, and a red bandana appears in front of him.
Javal thought nothing of the skeleton as he was summoned, “Really Carmine another skeleton we took down three of them already, this should be no different”.
Carmine only laughed as he said, “Oh trust me impy this is going to be a lot different than that experiment. Skullflame get to work”.
Suddenly the skeleton’s head and hand turn on the fire and aim at the snowfall covering the Thrall.
After being defrosted the thrall rises from the floor uncannily and weary and starting to make hushed growling noises.
He stretches a bit, almost appearing slightly bigger, then starts slowly walking towards Ak’ka as the flaming skeleton starts chasing Javal throwing fireballs at him.
“Oh wow I see what you meant by different, Carmine”, Javal yells as he starts running from the skeleton.
“Yes, yes,” Carmine says snobbishly, “This is a former pyromaniac weak spellcaster that was killed on death's row. I just so happened to come across his body and experiment on it, giving him much more power than he ever had in life”.

Someone came to stand beside her. Javal.
Ak’ka huffed out a breath, slowly startin’ to calm down now that the weird corpse was buried under a mountain of rapidly falling snow. The cold didn’t bother her that much. Not anymore, anyways.
Getting a bit ragged from the constant fighting, and the anger that burned in her core, Ak’ka turned and pointed at Carmine.
“Is that really the best you got? Come on… that was for babies.”
Carmine didn’t bother saying anything to her. The pompous bastard just kept scribbling in that notebook, taking notes, and insulting her intelligence. She’d show ‘im. Just as soon as he stopped summoning minions to fight his battles for him.
He called some kinda skeleton to melt the thrall from the prison Ak’ka trapped him in, undoing any of her progress. Ak’ka reached behind her back with one set of her hands, fear and fatigue fizzling away into annoyance.
“Ya know, a real man would step out from where he was hiding behind his soldiers and face his opponent head on.” Ak’ka snarled. “Or are you just too chickenshit to face us ‘cus you know you’d lose?”
Carmine only cocked an eyebrow at her, and Ak’ka’s desire to punch his glasses right off his face and turn them into powder increased.
Yeah, there was gonna be no reasoning with this delusional fuck. The only way they were gonna reason with him was with brute strength alone. They just had to muscle through his guys. This war was turning into a battle of endurance. What would run out first - their strength or Carmine’s corpses?
To Javal, Ak’ka shouted, “We gotta get rid of that skeleton, fast. Soon as we do I can freeze the thrall again. Ready?”
She didn’t wait for his answer before grabbing the giant tree from her back and hoisting it into the air, swinging it downwards at the pyromancer skeleton in a powerful combination of might and gravity.

"Sounds good, I’m ready", Javal shouted at Ak’ka as he rushed over to the thrall.
Things seemed like they were looking up for the two adventurers but it soon was proven wrong.
As Ak’ka hit the flaming skeleton breaking it in half it dropped to the floor flame leaving the skeleton’s body.
Carmine chuckled, “Ah brute orc you gotta think better than that to beat me”, as the skeleton got back up splitting itself into two medium-sized skeletons with the same attire as before. They both dashed behind Javal sending fireballs at him.
Javal barely dashed out of the way and ran while shouting, “Ak’ka I think you made it worse there’s now two of them now”.
The thrall suddenly started walking over to Ak’ka slowly but surely it made its way towards her. It then winds up and pulls its arm behind its literal bones, creaking as it does this and punches Ak’ka with the same force as before.

Instead of smashing the skeleton, Ak’ka only managed to break the thing into two flaming pieces where the spine snapped in two. The legs remained standing while the top half pulled itself up, both moving to chase after Javal.
“The hell?” She swatted one of the halves away with her tree, launching it into the air closer to Javal. The second piece tried to latch itself to her boot, bony claws scrabbling up her legs. It wasn’t stronger than the skeletons she’d fought before, but the fire seared her flesh, and it was all Ak’ka could do not to scream. She raised her boot into the air, smashing it to the ground, breaking the damn thing into smithereens ‘till there was nothing left but a couple a’ flaming chunks.
That only left the legs, which picked themselves up and started chasin’ Javal around. Ak’ka picked her tree up again, running after the fellblood.
“I’m comin’ ta help-“
Before she could save Javal, the thrall got to her first.
Pain, even worse than the first punch, wracked through her body. Ak’ka staggered, nearly takin’ a knee before she caught herself.
“I ain’t gonna fall to some damn zombie!” She stomped her foot against the dirt, creating a wall of ice between her and the thrall before she could take another devastating punch.[1] Chest heaving, Ak’ka leaned against the wall, tryin’ to catch her breath. How was she supposed to fight two enemies she couldn’t just hit? Whenever Ak’ka met a problem she couldn’t punch, she just punched harder. What were you supposed to do when brute force wasn’t the answer?
Ak’ka didn’t know, and that made her feel even more like shit than the pain ever could. 1. Glacial Wall

As Javal was getting chased by a flaming pair of legs who were chucking fireballs at him he looked over to see that Ak’ka managed to destroy the other half of this weird flaming skeleton. He was relieved that at least half of the flaming threat was gone; he just needed to handle the flaming legs that were running behind him. At least that's what it looked like at first as she got punched by the murmuring thrall the skeleton parts started to levitate on the floor and ignite and start to chase Javal alongside the already flaming lower body.
“Ak’ka there are so much more of these flaming skeleton guys please let's not break them I think it's getting worse”.
The thrall started to walk around the ice wall and began to murmur even louder one could even hear it say a clear word or two. “Alive" and "Punishment”.

Focus, Bonegrinder.
Get your shit together.
Javal’s counting on you.
The rage hadn’t quelled in her, but at least she could think straight. Take stock of where they were. Javal was bein’ chased by that flaming asshole, and the thrall was starting to walk behind the wall. Ak’ka kept her distance, one pair of fists raised in defense of her torso while the other were clasped over her head, ready to bring ‘em down on this guy if he got too close. What could she do? No enemy was unbeatable, not even her. She just made it too damn hard for someone to make a blow stick. Even if she couldn’t hit these guys, they had to have some weakness. The trap worked once - No saying it wouldn’t work again. If fire skeleton made heat strong enough to melt her snow, she just had to bring ice.
The thrall threw a punch at her - Ak’ka dodged, jumping into the air. With her tall frame she was able to grab a branch dangling above her, grasping it with a tight grip. The branch crackled under her weight but held strong, just enough for her to swing her feet and gather enough momentum to jump to the top of her wall.
“Javal!” She boomed, where the little guy was still being chased by a bunch of skeleton parts. It was a long shot, but…
“Can ya make it rain?”

Javal was too busy getting chased by flaming skeleton parts to notice what was going on around the battlefield. He wished he could help Ak’ka out with the weird creepy thrall guy but he couldn’t think straight having fireballs thrown out at him. Every time he thought he'd cut the skeleton down even with the help of Ak’ka thrown in there the flaming skeleton just wouldn’t die. Whatever spirit inhabited this skeleton must be strong or simply too hateful to die which in some regards Javal could respect.
Suddenly Javal looked over in the direction of the booming voice he heard and he then yelled in response, “Yes Ak’ka I believe I can just give me a second to shake off this flaming skeleton system”. Javal then raised his right hand and summoned a small snowstorm around the flaming skeleton parts, it wasn’t enough to stop them in their tracks but it did exactly what Javal wanted at the moment and that was to give him time to make it rain.
With the small distraction he was able to muster he quickly stopped looked above into the sky, raised both hands, and yelled, “You want rain I’ll give you rain*” and suddenly the whole area began to rain.
“No, no this can’t be happening” yelled the flaming skeleton as his body flames were extinguished. The flame entirely left his body and Javal gave the remaining skeleton a quick, “Javal Style: Looming Slice” to cut it in half for good measure.
He then quickly runs over to Ak’ka to help her fend off the zombie-like thrall, “Hey Ak’ka thanks for the help earlier how’d you know how to finish off the flaming skeleton? Also, how do we take care of this puppet guy? It seems like even hits from you aren’t enough to keep this guy down”.
Carmine sighs, reaching into his bag and pulling out an umbrella, and placing his notebook into his bag. He then pressed the side of his bifocals and suddenly a space-like recording of what was going on appeared above him, “It appears I have to record my findings through the power of space now thinks to imp boy and orc girl”.
He then yells out, “Patchwork 5: Banshee and Patchwork 4: Lich appear and do what your predecessors could not and take out the trash in front of me”. And with a sudden crackling of thunder suddenly a banshee and a lich appear in front of Carmine ready to fight. The thrall begins to shake a bit more, appear stronger, and seem much more alive the creature now begins to whisper even more words like “forget, strength, drained, alive, punishment, weakness, and power”.

Cold water poured down on them, drenching Ak’ka’s skin and cooling her from the burns she’d gotten from the flaming skeleton. With the fire extinguished, Javal managed to take care of that undead creature - but it was too early to celebrate. Ak’ka grimaced as two more undead enemies appeared from nowhere. Where the hell was he still getting these guys from?
“You gotta… be running out of steam… at this point.” Ak’ka grunted, wiping a bit of sweat and rain from her face. She wasn’t gonna admit it, but that thrall had done a number on her. Or more accurately, she’d done a number on herself. The lich and the banshee looked like normal enough enemies - she had to focus on the bigger threat. As the other three approached in the same, shuffling gait and the thrall grew madder, Ak’ka patted Javal on the shoulder.
“We ain’t outta the woods just yet. Can ya hold these guys off while I focus on the thrall?” This stuff took a lot of concentration, which was why Ak’ka didn’t wanna use it unless as a last resort. But they were in dire straights now if they couldn’t get rid of that freaky creature. “Gimme a couple of minutes.”
She pressed her hands together, focusing on that cold feeling in the pit of her stomach. The frozen sensation from when she’d been trapped under the tundra of snow and ice for so long, with nothing but her deep-seated feelings of revenge, and hatred. How she’d put the asshole that did this to her in a prison the same way he did to her. She gathered all those feelings until they burned her up in the inside, and focused it on the still-wet thrall.[1] 1. Crystallization: Focusing your magic on a visible liquid, the Elementalist is capable of turning that liquid into ice after two posts of concentration. This freezing effect covers a total of a medium size object/creature/person at a time.

Javal stood alongside Ak’ka facing down the league of Carmine’s undead creatures, so far it had been a tough battle, each opponent even stronger than the last. He could understand why Carmine being the necromancer pompous man he was had such a powerful army if he was a wanted man he just didn’t expect them to be so formidable.
Carmine just stood there facing the two adventurers and said, “Nope orc girl I could keep this up all day and night until you and impy next to you have been crushed. You guys haven’t even gotten to my strongest minions so why would I even be worried about you two capturing me”.
Javal looked over and listened to what Ak’ka was planning he then yelled over, “I can hold them off for as long as I can Ak’ka good look with Mr. Pale Man” and he then walked closer to the two newly summoned undead and raised his katana pointed at them and said, “Hey Sir and Lady undead prepare to meet your second death I suppose by my hands”.
The now-shaking Thrall faced Ak’ka and watched as she prepared her frozen attack. Something was wrong with the thrall. The more the battle against Ak’ka raged on, something inside of him was waking him up. He was starting to feel more aware more alive as he fought Ak’ka something was wrong he looked around the battlefield where was he he thought to himself.
“Who are you and where am I?”, the thrall asked Ak’ka as he faced her down, “What happened to my beloved and that strange man with the red bifocals?”.

Battle raged around her, a fight that Ak’ka wasn’t part of for once. She was focusing harder than she ever had in her life, trying to think through a solution instead of trying to smash through it. She channeled every ounce of her hatred into this… something deep and primal sparked to life in her -
A voice pulled her out of her focus.
Ak’ka’s eyes snapped open, staring up at the thrall where she was sitting cross-legged on the ground. What the hell was going on? He was a completely different guy than he’d been seconds ago - gone was the mindless beast that was under Carmine’s control.
“What the fuck?”
But it was too late. Her spell was already in motion, freezing the water on its body until there was nothing free but his head. He was effectively trapped, for real this time.
Ak’ka stood, not bothering to brush the dirt off of herself. “Sorry about this, man.” Zombie? Whatever. Didn’t matter. “If yer not a bad guy I’ll come unfreeze you when this is all over. Just sit here and hang tight.” She cracked her knuckles, sprinting to where Javal was dealing with the others. One against two had become two against two - and Ak’ka was gettin’ sick and tired of these games. It was time to end these motherfuckers. Crystalization (2/2)

Javal faced down the lich and Banshee trying to dodge chaos bolts and sonic blasts; these two’s teamwork was excellent even Javal had to admit. Each time Javal managed to dodge an attack another one would follow right behind it. He hoped Ak’ka would finish soon with the thrall fellow because he wasn’t sure how long he could hold out for. Soon he heard Ak’ka’s loud footsteps run right next to him.
“Hey, Ak’ka how’d taking down the thrall go? Is he gone? Which one did you want to take on”, Javal asks aloud
After hearing Ak’ka’s response, Javal sprints towards the banshee katana in hand, barely jumping above to dodge the banshee’s sonic blast.

“Leave him!” Ak’ka grunted - if that guy really wasn’t a threat, she didn’t have time to deal with him in the middle of a fight. Javal held these two assholes off for long enough, but it was time for her to join the fight again. “I’ll take the wizardy-lookin’ asshole, you hold off the banshee!”
She didn’t wait for confirmation before launching herself at the lich.
The undead creature wove magic in the air, slung spell after spell at Ak’ka, the Bonegrinder ignorin’ all of them. She blocked her face with her arms, sprinting towards the lich in a tackle. These other guys mighta been tricky to deal with, but she’d had enough of the games. She needed to smash something to the ground.
Blinded by rage and still barely thinking, Ak’ka raised her arms and wrapped them around the lich until it was pinned under her. The undead figure tried to escape, but there was nothing that it could do under the weight of something so powerful. She kept running until she couldn’t run no more, smashing the lich into a tree. The thing wasn’t as powerful as it looked - something had to give, and in this case, it was the creature’s spine. Ak’ka dropped the pieces to the ground, cracking her knuckles. They were scraped raw and bloody, and bruised from the damage that the thrall’d done to her. But she was still standin’.
She was always the last one standin’.
While Javal dealt with the banshee, Carmine was still taking down notes with those spectacles of his or whatever. Completely distracted by the fight with Javal.
Now was her chance.
Ak’ka bound up to him, fist raised in an attempt to levy a punch in this smug asshole’s face - but she wasn’t exactly stealthy, and this asshole was stronger than he looked at first glance. He reached up a hand to catch her fist, some magical force stopping her in her tracks. Ak’ka’s eyes widened in surprise - Carmine’s did too.
He stared down at her fist. Then his lips curled into a smug smile, like he’d just had some big revelation.
“Interesting.”
The mage tilted his head. Ak’ka struggled, but he’d cast some sorta spell on her, and she couldn’t move, couldn’t pull herself away. She wast trapped.
“I wonder if I could…”
And then pain, even worse than the hit from the thrall, crawled up her arm. Worse because it came with the humiliation that she couldn’t escape, that she was at someone’s mercy. Ak’ka couldn’t stop the pained scream as the flesh on her right arm began to melt, all the way past the elbow, leavin’ behind nothing but bone.
“I find myself curious as to who constructed you, orc girl.” Carmine mused, but Ak’ka was too wrapped up in the pain to hear what he was sayin’. She could only see him moving his lips, and even then she didn’t give a shit what he was saying. All she cared about was getting as far away from him as possible. “Hm. Not that it matters. They did a fairly shoddy job.”
“F… Fuck you.”
“Is that all you’ve got? You’re going to have to do better than that.”
With a burst of magic he threw Ak’ka to the ground and backed away, leaving the once-proud orc warrior to nurse her mangled arm.

Javal, now suspended in the air, smashes his blade into the banshee’s head, sending her falling to the floor dead.
“Huzzah take that screaming banshee you are dead and I am not hahaha”, Javal says celebrating escaping near death.
He then looks around the battlefield scanning the area looking for Ak’ka and Carmine; he isn't able to find them among the destroyed and defeated army of foes. He then turns to face Carmine walking over to Ak’ka holding her mangled hand.
“No, no, get away from her now”, Javal yells charging at Carmine who is writing down some notes in his notebook.
Carmine laughs as Javal comes barreling at him, “Oh my Impy what are you going to do to me that orc girl here wasn’t able to”.
“Now let’s just finish you two trash off and make you valuable specimens mine”, Carmine says now placing his hands into the ground the ground shaking summoning something into the air.
“Patchwork 2: Great Undead Hero, Take care of Impy here once and for all”, he says now facing the newly summoned undead”.
The undead was an undead zombie clothed in some sort of toga yukata combination wielding a sword with a black sheath.
The undead nodded and then sprinted over to Javal so quickly it looked like he hadn’t moved. Javal was then kicked in the face and thrown to the other side of the battlefield with the undead charging at him again.

Hurt.
Ak’ka was no stranger to hurt. She could shrug off pain, which was why her enemies chose to bury her in a mountain of ice and snow, an eternal stasis where she couldn’t feel, couldn’t move, couldn’t think… nothin’. She used to think she preferred the pain to the prison, but feeling her arm melt and twist away like melted snow, Ak’ka thought she preferred the nothing to this.
“FFFFFFFFUCK!”
She clutched her now-bone hand to her chest, trying to breathe. Her chest felt like it was on fire. She thought she could hear Javal cryin’ out to her, running closer, but he didn’t reach her in time. Before he could, Carmine only summoned another undead creature from the ground, one that… didn’t look like much. Not on the surface. Some guy in loose-fitting robes, a sword by his side. But Ak’ka’d learned from this fight that looks could be deceiving, and the weakest of this guy’s servants had been the toughest to fight.
Shit.
Ak’ka… needed to help.
What good was bein’ strong if she couldn’t use that strength to help folks when they needed it most? The pain in her arm was unbearable, but the limb wasn’t gone - not yet. Ak’ka grit her tusks, flexing the now-exposed bone. The limb could still move, but it didn’t feel much. Not even the wind or the nerves felt anything now. The pain cut off at her arm just above her elbow, where skin was still bubbling like burning flesh. And then, with the snow and ice still scattered around her with ash, Ak’ka’s body moved on her own accord.
She plunged her arm into the snow, pulling it out with a mighty roar. Snow solidified into crystalline, solid ice that coated the bone and replaced her missing arm entirely. The heat fizzled away, replaced with the familiar nothingness of ice.
And it burned with hatred.
She turned to the swordsman zombie and Javal, raising her ice-covered and still intact arm above her hand. She could focus on the loss later. Right now it was only the anger keeping her moving without thought.
Carmine clicked his tongue. “Did you really think I didn’t have anything more up my sleeve to deal with you? You two are going to be my newest projects, orc girl. And I’ve a special interest in you.”
“I’m going to grind your bones to make my bread!” Ak’ka screeched.
Carmine smirked. “An apt quote, especially considering the creation that will capture you.” He raised his hands, fingers splayed like a commander tugging on the strings of a puppet. “Patchwork three: the hill giant of yore.”
And the ground beneath Ak’ka began to rumble.
