Javal was still excited that Ak'ka was still interested in speaking about the fun of battle. When Javal had talked to people about fighting they'd usually just brush him off and change to another topic but it seemed that his new friend Ak'ka was a kindred spirit in that regard.
Javal didn't have to really think about the questions Ak'ka had asked him because they were questions that his sworn brother Raoul always brought up. He thought fighting was a means to an end and finishing a battle quickly was always the best way to go but to Javal it was quite the opposite.
"If my enemy fights with their fists, then I shall fight with my fists as well to make it fair. Yes, there are cases where fists counted as a weapon themselves but nowadays I don't really see them. Everyone is some sort of weapon user or a spellcaster these days so I respect those who handle the battle with their fists alone I often do as well. That being said, I'd still fight against an unarmed person with just my body itself. Besides training in the art of the sword, I trained myself to be able to fight my opponents without it. Even in some cases, I'm more dangerous without my sword however it does make me brutish. If the opponent is a spellcaster I'm all fine with fighting with my weapon and throwing spells against them as well".

“Huh.” His beliefs were proving to be even more different than Ak’ka thought. It still seemed like a ridiculous idea to even unarm yourself to be on even terms with another guy - made Ak’ka wonder what it would be like to go toe to toe with this guy without his weapons. But sparring was somethin’ different to her. She didn’t fight unless it was life or death, didn’t know how.
“Bet you’re a tough guy with your fists then, huh, Slugger?” Ak’ka elbowed him in the side, snickering to herself at the nickname that had just come to her.
Something in the distance snapped - a branch in the distance. Ak’ka’s shoulders stiffened, going on high alert, watching her surroundings. But the works fell silent again, too still. Ak’ka raised her fists, ready for an attack -
That was when something small jumped from the bushes, a tiny figure darting from the bush.
“Oh, hey, Squeak.” Ak’ka bent down to pick up her pet, too relieved to see her mouse back that she wasn’t thinkin’ about the fact that he was too small to snap a branch that big. “What’s up?” She asked as she straightened, expectin’ an answer about what Squeak found. But the mouse was too busy dancing in her hand, frantically trying to say somethin’ to her through nervous squeaks and chirps.
Ak’ka frowned. He never acted like this.
“… What’s the matter, buddy?”
But Squeak just kept squeaking, trynna tell Ak’ka something she couldn’t figure out. He spun, pointing his tail in the woods, like he wanted Ak’ka to look there. Over and over again. Point, point, point. Almost like he was trying to say…
Another branch in the distance snapped. Heavy. Too heavy. That was when Ak’ka saw it in the shadows. It raised its arm. Right at Javal.
Ak’ka only had a split second to react.
“He’s already here!” Ak’ka shouted, immediately barreling into Javal, knocking the two of them to the ground as the bolt of dark magic flew through the air, right at the spot where Javal’s skull woulda been.
The shadowy figure stepped from the trees, cackling to himself. Ak’ka pulled herself to her feet, growling. It was a low, guttural sound that echoed through the silent woods.
“Carmine.”

Javal was surprised to see Ariadne suddenly scuttling forth alongside a gray mouse; both of them seemed panicked. Ariadne climbed up Javal’s body and sat in his hand and started to make signals with her legs. Javal held her up, It was hard to make out what she was trying to say since she was in such a panic but eventually after some thinking. Javal understood that whatever she found wasn't good and was coming after them soon. However, as Javal finished deciphering this he suddenly felt Ak’ka tackle him to the ground. At first, Javal was confused about why Ak’ka did that but he turned and saw a black smoking spot where Javal was.
“Thank you Ak’ka for saving Ariadne and me, it seems I owe you twice as much now”.
He then hears the cackling of someone nearby. He gets up from the floor and turns to face the man who just attempted to kill him and the man who they all came here for, Carmine.
He chuckles, “Bounty hunters, I'm assuming you thought I didn’t know you were here that’s hilarious. Ever since I was found out I hid out here and made this place my domain. But to be honest I’d thought more famous bounty hunters would come after me like Leo Silva, Scratch, and or Lobo Alvardo, not some no-name fellblood and orc. Well, whatever the matter either way you’re gonna die” He places both of his hands on the floor and yells, “Patchwork 12: Skeleton Graveyard” All around Ak’ka and Javal the marsh floor suddenly starts being broken up and skeletons emerge surrounding the two.

“The fuck are ya callin’ no-name?”
The guy was tryin’ to provoke her. Ak’ka knew that. She shouldn’t let herself rise to the taunts of some prissy wizard who was actin’ like the king of the damn forest, all because he’d gotten the drop on them. It was what he wanted, she knew.
But there was anger in her veins, and a need to drive her fist into the face of the nearest asshole that crossed her path. This punk wanted a battle? Fine. She’d give him a battle he’d never forget. His last one.
She cracked her knuckles, ready to dash forward, when the ground started shaking around them and the corpses of a couple dozen skeletons began to burst from the ground.
Fuck. He wasn’t just any kinda mad mage. He was a necromancer.
“You think this is enough to scare the piss outta me?” Ak’ka boasted, the usual bravado she took on during battle takin’ over. “I’ve fought worse than this!”
One of the skeletons tried to grab at her, bone-claw hands scratching at her skin. They’d have to do better than that. Ak’ka grabbed its wrist and crushed the bone into powder just by clenching her fist. Skeletons didn’t really feel pain, but she’d make them wish they could, just so they’d know when their suffering would finally be over.
The necromancer rolled his eyes. “Oh, I am shaking in my boots.” He snipped, before snapping his fingers together. The skeletons responded to his command, five surrounding Ak’ka, and four around Javal.
Ak’ka raised her fists, the tattoos on her shoulders glowing before another set of arms broke free from her torso, four fists each the size of a skeleton’s head, and each ready to smash.
“Ah, now that’s more like it.” She growled, a feral grin on her face.
And then she jumped into the fray.

At first, Javal was a bit peeved that he and Ak’ka were being called no-named but he didn’t let it upset him, he knew his and his friend's strength and that’s all he needed. Soon the ground underneath the group started shaking and breaking apart as this wizard casts his spell summoning an army of skeletons all around them. He felt a skeleton try to scratch him with its bony claws; he grabs his sheathed sword and smashes the skeleton’s head apart, dropping it to the ground. He sees his loyal retainer Nadia do the same with a skeleton approaching her with her longbow. Ariadne quickly runs into his coat pocket to hide out against this threat. After Ak’ka succeeded in taunting Carmine into summoning more skeletons, four skeletons surrounded Javal, three surrounded Nadia, and five surrounded Ak’ka. Although Javal was hesitant at first about fighting the poor undead that was being used by Carmine, he soon changed his mind, deciding he’d lay the poor people to rest and bring Carmine to justice even more.
Javal was surprised to see Ak’ka gain two more arms, “Woah Ak’ka seems you have more arms than I originally thought, more arms to do the punching, ah I’m jealous”.
Javal now turned to face his opponents, “I hate to do this, but I shall bring you to peace and carmine to justice if I must".
He now unsheathes his katana and enters a fighting stance he says, “Javal Style, Single Slash” cutting a skeleton in half, he then dodges a skeleton's oncoming punch, grabs its arm and swings them around, and throws them into the other three skeletons approaching him.
“Let's end this”, Javal says, “Javal Style, Prominence Edge” and winds up and swings his sword using his full power to slash the three skeletons apart.
Javal dust himself off, and looks up to Carmine, “Is that all you got, Carmine? I expected more from such a wicked villain”.

Javal was right. Extra arms were perfect for extra punching. And Ak’ka would do so with gleeful abandon. She didn’t think twice about pummeling the hell out of the skeletons around her - Ak’ka didn’t have the same moral dilemmas as Javal, and she sure as hell didn’t follow any honor code. Only thing that made skeletons annoying to deal with was that they didn’t feel any pain. Usually it was easy enough to get an enemy to quit if you broke enough limbs to make them surrender, but skeletons didn’t think. They didn’t feel. You just had to snap their spines and crush their legs to powder to make sure those motherfuckers didn’t get back up again.
With one hand, Ak’ka scooped up the skulls of four of the skeletons, their bodies each dangling with the air where Ak’ka held them. With a great SMASH like she was clapping cymbals together at the end of a performance, Ak’ka rammed all four heads together at once, fragile bone cracking and snapping apart in her grip.
Four dead - one to go.
The last guy leapt forward, tryin’ to swipe at her arm with bony claws. Ak’ka suppressed a hiss of pain where her arm got all torn up, but that was nothin’. She’d taken worse injuries. Ak’ka shrugged off the pain and punched a hole through his damn ribcage.
Javal looked like he was holdin’ himself up real well. Ak’ka glanced over at him, unsurprised to see that the slugger took all his enemies out with his sword no problem. She smirked when he started tauntin’ Carmine - he was right. These guys were nothing.
But Carmine didn’t look defeated in the slightest.

Carmine looks down on the two adventurers and laughs, “Hahaha, you think that you two have proved your strength. I’m just getting started. I don't think this is a real fight for me, this is just an experiment and you two are the test subjects. I’m excited to have fellblood and half-orc as subjects soon your bodies will be mine to experiment on. This battle is research for me. I'm learning so much so far. Thank you adventurers now let's continue the experiment”. He raises his hands into the air and yells, “Patchwork 11 and Patchwork 10 appear” Suddenly loud screams appear all around Javal and Akka. An undead hulking creature appears in front of Ak’ka and three zombie knights appear surrounding Javal.

Ak’ka snorted when Carmine started ramblin’ on about this being an experiment. So he wanted to treat them like test subjects, huh? Wanted to turn their bodies into puppets to play with? He’d fucked with the wrong people for that. The skeletons taken care of, Ak’ka charged the big man himself, fists raised and ready to deliver hell - but before she could pummel the wizard, he raised some sorta umbral hulk from the ground as a body shield.
Ak’ka slammed into it with the force of a carriage, knocking them both to the ground. The hulk let out a roar that rivaled the strength of her own voice, shaking the birds from the trees. Before she could react, it rolled them around, pinning her underneath it.
But it only got two of her arms.
With her second set, Ak’ka delivered a fist to its sternum, feeling ribs CRACK under the weight of her fist. Wasn’t enough to knock a big, brainless dummy down, or even get it to loosen its grip on her - but he couldn’t avoid hands grabbing around his neck and squeezing enough to cut off its windpipe if it had been alive. And definitely couldn’t avoid her snapping it’s damn neck.
Nobody got the drop on the Bonegrinder and walked away from it.
It let out a weak groan as Ak’ka planted a boot in its sternum, kicking it to the side.
Not good enough.
Anger had already overtaken Ak’ka, the bloodlust and adrenaline from battle fueling her rage. She stomped her foot against the ground, forcing a wall of ice to splinter off from her boot and jut upwards for the ground.[1] Before the umbral hulk could get up, she grabbed it by the torso and slammed it into the wall she’d made. Many times. Until its body could no longer move.
“Ya talk big game, motherfucker, but all I see are a bunch a chickenshit minions.” She growled, turning back to Carmine with a snarl contorting her features. “This is just warmup.” 1. Glacial Wall

Javal was currently trying to get these three little zombies off of him, they were gnawing and scratching at him all currently on top of him. They weren't very strong individually but together they were a decent match, and for that, Javal respected their strength. But eventually, even Javal grew tired of their bothersome tactics he grabbed two of them and smashes their brains in together both dropping to the floor the third one tried running but Javal quickly threw his sword right through its undead skill, "Javal style: Sword Throw'' dropping another one down. He looked over to a victorious A’kka with a defeated undead hulk unmoving on the ground.
Carmine just looked at them and started writing stuff down in a notebook, "Genius, genius so that's what happens, okay this is great fieldwork we're doing here now onto the next stage. Patchwork 9 and 8 get out here suddenly once again the ground trembles and from the swamp aroused two beings in front of Carmine. A giant undead minotaur and a mummified warrior.

Another wave of monsters.
Ak’ka was used to long battles - this much wasn’t gonna wear on her anytime soon. She barely spared a glance for Javal, watching him take out three enemies with his fists and blade alone. Heh. He wasn’t half bad.
The asshole, Carmine, only looked nonplussed, taking notes in that little notebook clutched in his hands. Not even paying that much attention to them. She wanted to rip that book out of his hands and tear it in half. But before she could, he summoned more chucklefucks for them to fight.
He wanted to keep throwin’ enemies at them to watch ‘em dance? She’d take whatever he could throw at her.
“You get the mummy.” She barked. “I’ve got the minotaur.”
She cracked her knuckles, unafraid. She’d wrangled bulls before. This punk would be no trouble-
With a roar, the thing bent down and attempted to sprint at her, its horns pointed straight at her chest as if attempting to impale her against a tree. Ak’ka braced herself - raised two of her arms, the top set. She grabbed the bull by the horns, feet grinding against the dirt where it pushed her - but she wouldn’t be knocked down. And slowly, the raging bull came to a stop, his rampage stopped by Ak’ka holding him still.
With a grunt, her muscles bulged as she heaved to the side with all her might. She spun on her heels, twirling the minotaur in the air in a semicircle, before launching him straight at Carmine.
“Enough of these games!” She boomed, her voice echoing through the dead woods.

Javal nodded quickly running over to the mummy, “Hey mister wraps over here, come and catch me”.
Javal was a bit bummed he had to take the mummy as he was looking forward to taking on the undead minotaur. But no matter the case he would need to take down this mischievous mummy character and bring Carmine to justice
The mummy sent out its wraps to constrict Javal but Javal simply slashed the constricted clothing before it even got near him. He eventually grew tired of these back and forth and decided to throw his katana into the mummy’s chest and grab the wraps that were coming for him and grapple the mummy into a whirling mess before he finished it by pummeling its clothed body until it stopped moving.
Carmine looked up while he was writing in his notebook only to raise his hand and summon a pale figure to take the hit for him as he jogged away.
He simply yells maniacally, “Yes, this is great research, absolutely brilliant test subjects you are. Not to himself, orc does not like games, fellblood has yet to say his opinion on games”.
He raises his hands and yells “Patchwork 9 and 10 to me” and summons a small army of a hundred undead gnomes to swarm all over Ak’ka. Javal soon saw Ak’ka get completely covered by a mass of moving gnomes enough to even knock her to the ground. Javal was about to run over and help her but he was soon distracted by clashing against a sudden huge werewolf.

The Minotaur didn’t hit the wizard.
The fucker summoned some corpse to catch it before it could strike him before summoning even more creatures from the ground. How many corpses were in these damn woods? Given that this was a refuge of criminals, Ak’ka couldn’t say she was really that surprised. But the army of gnomes that suddenly burst through the ground, climbing up her legs and scratching at her skin, came as a pretty nasty shock. How many damn gnomes were around for this fucker to puppet this many corpses at once?
“Get off of me!” Ak’ka growled, tearing at a couple on her torso and throwing them into the air. But she knew how to fight bigger and badder beasts. Used to it, really. A swarm of little annoying fuckers, like bees stinging at her - that was something she didn’t fully know how to handle. And those beady, sunken black eyes, boring into her skull…[1]
Ak’ka didn’t feel fear.
Hadn’t since she was twelve.
But as she was swarmed by enemies she couldn’t get rid of, who threatened to bury her, bury her six feet underground the way she was once buried under a mountain of snow and ice, her heart rate began to spike.
Not again. I can’t let that happen to me again.
And there was a moment, surrounded by the tiny creatures that had made it all the way up to her shoulders and neck, hanging from her arms, Ak’ka stilled in defeat. What else could she do? She was helpless.
No fear.
No. She wouldn’t let herself feel that helpless again. That was a feeling reserved for when she was small, watching her old man die in front of her, and had to make the choice between baring her neck to the enemy’s axe or doing something about it. And as long as she still free breath - as long as she could still move - Ak’ka would always. Always. Have something about it.
Her lips parted in a mighty roar, a rallying cry only for herself. Ak’ka raised a fist, shaking off the gnomes that were still clinging to her arm. She pounded her fist against her chest. Once. Twice. Like the sound of a marcher’s drumbeats to guide her back to battle.
“NO FEAR!”[2]
All at once the fear disappeared.
Only to be replaced with anger.
And with her single cry, all of the gnomes clinging to her were sent flying, thrown in all directions from the sudden burst of anger and hatred radiating from the fearsome orc woman, so large that her body could not contain it.
Ak’ka whirled around to the necromancer, cold steam radiating from her mouth and nostrils. At that moment, she was more orc than woman, her mind mostly gone - and gods help anyone that got in her way. 1. Cause Fear (gnomes) 2. Undying Fervor

Javal tried his best to hold his own against the charging werewolf. He was getting pushed back until he hit a giant boulder. Once the pair got there the wolf tried pushing Javal’s head hard against the boulder. But Javal stopped him by headhunting him, it hurt a lot. He grabs the wolf by the arm and ices over its arm, He punches it shattering it.
“Stand down furry fellow, or I’ll be forced to do that to the rest of you”
“As if some puny imp could kill me”, the wolf roars back and charges again at Javal.
Carmine writes stuff into his notebook at and chuckles, “Oh is the orc mad? Come on be happy that you’re gonna be part of history vile beast”.
“Patchwork 7 get back up, he yells to the pale body lying next to the broken Minotaur.
A pale weak man in ragged fancy clothes appears in front of Ak’ka.
Carmine yells to Ak’ka, “This will be an important experiment so try not to die beast”.

Javal was still somewhere fighting the werewolf somewhere in the distance. Ak’ka wasn’t really paying him much attention. She wasn’t paying much attention to anything except for the man in front of her, the edges of her vision tinged red. She wasn’t completely gone. Not yet. Aware enough to hear Carmine laugh and spit an insult at her. Vile Beast.
She’d heard that one before. She heard ‘em all, really. Mostly they were whispered behind her back from folks who were too afraid to say it too her face - somehow staring down someone who had the balls to say it to her face stung even more.
“Ha ij krilai.” Ak’ka spat, orcish feeling harsh and blocky in her throat. “Agh choke par khe.”
She cracked her knuckles, waiting for the next challenger. What would it be this time? Some ancient undead warrior? A giant? She’d take ‘em on. She’d take ‘em all on, until there was nothing left but her and her knuckles, left raw and bloody, standing over a mountain of twice-dead bodies, the way she was always meant to be.
But the next corpse wasn’t anything strong or deadly.
It was just some guy, one that looked like a stiff breeze might blow him over. Ak’ka’s anger ebbed, only for a second, replaced with confusion. The hell was Carmine thinking, sending some punk after her? He must’ve had a death wish, ‘cus there was no way this thing was landing a scratch on her. With a roar, Ak’ka picked it up and snapped its spine over her knee, feeling the crack and crunch of bone.
Discarding the pale corpse’s body on the ground, Ak’ka started advancing towards Carmine. It was time to pummel that smarmy face in the ground.
But then something shifted behind her.
Ak’ka turned, just in time to watch the body she’d just killed again stirring… and picking itself up like nothing happened.
The hell? Ak’ka stopped, watching as the pale stick of a body limped to stand between her and Carmine, the necromancer’s last line of defense. She shoulda been able to kill it, no problem. And yet, here it was, just fine. What was it hiding? What did it have up its sleeve? What kinda secret power was Carmine’s damned servant hiding?

Javal was upset now that the troublesome werewolf was not accepting his honorable plea of surrender. He is giving him a completely honorable way to escape the hands of the evil Carmine.
He shouts, “Fine man of the wolf, I shall accept your wishes and give you an honorable death by my hands”.
“I’d like to see you try imp boy that breaking off my arm was just a lucky hit”.
The wolfman then grabbed Javal and threw him down hard into the floor.
He then attempts to claw at Javals face and chest as hard as he could. Javal simply shields himself the best he can with his arms. He then kicks the man in the chest as hard as he can, pushing him off of him. Javal simply grabs his other arm and freezes it over and punches it, breaking the remaining hand off. The werewolf roars and charges at Javal,” I'll kill you with just my teeth” This attempt is In vain though as Javak finishes their battle by slicing his feet off, “Javal Style: Lowered Vision” Soon his body plops to the floor roaring at the top of his lungs,” I'll kill you someday imp boy”.
Javal just bows, “I thank you for this battle”.
Carmine laughs maniacally, “Scary Orc lady meet Patchwork 7, he's a Thrall with a very peculiar body. This patchwork specifically does excellent against people like you.
As Carmine says this the slow-moving Thrall manages to get close enough to punch Ak’ka very weakly it seems at first but soon Ak’ka is hit with all of the force and damage that she hit the Thrall with.
Carmine continues laughing and continues to write in his notebook.
