Eithne looks over at Morrigan and now sits back up finishing gulping down her health potion and healing her wounds.
“That’s Javal in there alright, that’s him although he may not know it yet. It’s his dark impulses that are currently in control of him right now. Usually when he fights he fights from a place of bravery and kindness but when he reaches a boiling point in anger and hatred his mind goes into a different side of him, almost a different person that is in charge. That’s what got our family to track Javal down that side of him. We had heard rumors of a blue fellblood who rampaged across the sea and eventually found him. Javal is someone who if he can hone that dark side of himself will be able to take my grandfather’s place as head of the family. We are currently in a bit of a civil war amongst ourselves each trying to prove ourselves worthy to be head of the family but both I and my grandfather believe Javal is the best for the job if he’s able to hone that dark side of his. His strength and intelligence alone in that form are proof enough as you’ll soon see".
Javal then now facing the Owlbear’s back whispers, “Vine Style: Skewering Dungeon” and rushes forwards creating a small house-like box made out of the nearby flora around the now destroyed first floor and covered the owlbear inside it not before Javal jumps through it and shuts the owlbear within. Javal then jumps forward and delivers a multitude of slashes at the trapped owlbear soon enough he releases the owlbear who is now fatally wounded and trying to crawl away.

Morrigan hummed, thoughtful, while Eithne Bram described their situation. Complex family dynamics, with a grandfather who favored the kindest grandson for his rampant brutality. If Eithne secretly harbored any jealously against her cousin, she didn’t show it on her face.
Secretly, Morrigan was inclined to agree. Anyone skilled and smart could be leader, but Javal was a dark horse. He had a real brutality to him. That much was evident in the way he used magic and might in tandem. In the wild, the predators at the top of the food chain were generally considered the strongest - but Morrigan was inclined to disagree. It was the creature with the most cunning, who knew how to go for the throat.
In this family power struggle, Javal had clear potential.
He just needed people in his corner to help him harvest it.
Morrigan turned to Eithne, a knowing smile on their face. Her goals aligned with theirs perhaps more than she realized.
“I can help you.” They whispered, keeping their voice low. It was a dangerous thing to make a deal with someone whose true motives that Morrigan was in the dark on, but she’d clearly meant for this to happen. She’d wanted Morrigan to witness this dark form. “The two of us together, yeah? Im sure we can coax that darkness out of him.”
It could be their pet project.
While Javal finished off the owlbear, Morrigan held a hand out to Eithne in the same way that they had to her grandfather earlier.
“What do you say?”

Javal slowly walked over to the crawling Owlbear and whispered “Buer Style: Thousand Leaves" and summons all nearby leaves into the Owlbear’s body at the same time he impaled the bear in the chest with his katana. The owlbear let out a final screech and went limp as Javal suddenly went back to being in control of his body.
He lets out a loud sigh of tiredness and slight anger, “Damn it I had to resort to going into that state again” he then jogs over to Morrigan and Eithne.
Eithne had a broad smile on her face as Javal finished off the former life-threatening owlbear and simply chuckled, “Of course Morrigan we can make him a beast together”, and went to shake Morrigan’s hand.
He gives the two fellow fellbloods a giant hug, “I was so worried about you two but seems like all's well that ends well”.
“I suppose you can say that”, Eithne says looking around at the wrecked area around them, “Hey there Rufus come out now and receive your punishment”.
Rufus then suddenly comes forth from around the corner shadows dissipating around him he appears very pale and very nervous.
This whole time he had been watching the battle unfold and once Javal entered his Killdrive form he had been spooked by his older cousin. He knew he was a decent fighter but was totally shaken at Javal’s strength; he was a total monster.

Not-Javal dealt the finishing blow on the beast with as much viciousness as he had fought the thing just far. The creature Rufus summoned to humiliate Morrigan let out a petulant, pained screech and slumped over, deceased. On the other side of the room, Morrigan accepted Eithne’s handshake with the coyfulness and grip of a scorpion that had set its sights on its prey. No other words were exchanged. No other words had to be exchanged. Their point had already been made.
Barely a second later Javal, who appeared to have come back to himself, had wrapped the other two fellbloods in a bone-crushing hug. Morrigan grimaced at the strength of his grip, but brought their arms up to give him a reassuring pat on the back nonetheless. “I assure you, I am quite fine, my friend.” Morrigan spoke with their usual bravado, slipping back into the persona now that Javal was back in his own mind. “No mere beast shall fell the Wizard of the Wastes! I was only caught unawares because I was trying to minimize damages to this fine abode!”
A crock of bullshit, but delivered with confidence and audacity. Javal, apparently, was too relieved to question it. Morrigan stood, brushing dirt and blood off of their shirt with a disappointed sigh. This tunic was probably beyond repair, with how stained and torn the fine fabric was. What was it with vicious creatures and destroying Morrigan’s clothes? They didn’t get to lament this loss for much longer, as Rufus Bram was soon brought over to Morrigan to receive his ‘punishment’.
Morrigan blinked, staring at the young, pale-faced fellblood with a bewildered expression. “Erm, forgive me if I’ve misheard, but did you just say punishment?”
Eithne went on to explain that Rufus had wronged Morrigan and had to make amends for what he’d done, in a punishment of Morrigan’s choosing. An odd family custom, but who was Morrigan to judge? Especially when it meant they would get something out of it. The charlatan smirked, the devil’s playfulness painted on their features. And they promised a reckoning.
Morrigan tapped at their chin, tail swishing behind them. “Oh, what to do, what to do? Penance, for summoning such a horrible creature and nearly destroying your home for the sake of petty revenge. There is only one thing I could see fitting…”
They leaned forward, until the two were practically face to face. Morrigan reached up a clawed finger, bringing it up to his throat as if they were going to pierce it.
And then Morrigan reached down and plucked a button from his coat.
Morrigan straightened, holding the button between two fingers before spinning it across their knuckles like a coin. “I am going to keep this coin. And with it… a favor. This represents my mercy, Rufus Bram. A reminder that I chose not to retaliate for what you did to me. When I return this button to you - it doesn’t matter when, doesn’t matter how, but you owe me one single failure. No questions asked.”
They tucked the coin in their pocket.
A big ask - but more than petty revenge, Morrigan saw opportunity here. The opportunity to get Rufus in their pocket, and use him to meet their goals whenever needed. Time would tell if Rufus would fulfill it, but if he possessed the same stubbornness and honor as his cousin, he would. Even if it meant going against his own family.
It was a gamble. But oh, how Morrigan loved to roll the dice.
They turned back to Javal, eyes sparkling with excitement. “My, it’s been a rather harrowing day, has it not? I think, if there are no objections, I shall return to my wagon and rest for the night. But remember this - I shall not be far off. You can always call upon the wizard, should you need my assistance.” They finished with a wink and a wave of glitter in the fellblood’s face with a grandiose wave of their hand.
“Until next time, Javal.”
With that, they sauntered away, leaving the group until they were needed once more. But armed with the knowledge that they had firmly cemented themselves in the Bram family, and made something far greater than a friend.
An opportunity.
