As she gestures his gaze falls upon the cage and the egg trapped behind it's cold bars. They needed to get that guard away from the cage and it seemed as though Leni had formulated a plan— at least he hoped she did.
He watches as she sets her plan into motion; gracefully jumping here and there, using her influence of the weather outside, and the stealth tactics she displayed while not being known to be skilled at the art of it. A small smile formed on Ulrich's lips; hidden in the shadows that enveloped him. Leni was able to adapt to her situations quickly, and Ulrich couldn't help but feel admiration in the moment.
He gently shook his head as a light rattling came from Alvis in his scabbard again. He gently smacks the scabbard signaling for Alvis to get serious— which he does, albeit still giving one more snide comment under his breath towards the shadow shrouded adventurer.
Leni's plan was successful in drawing attention away from the cage! Now it was time for them to make their move in getting the egg out of the cage and into the hands of someone who would care for it! Ulrich gestures for Leni to shift her position and ready herself for their escape. There was a chance that things could go south in the blink of an eye, and he wanted to make sure they had the advantage.
Almost as if something had swallowed him up from the darkness; he disappears completely. Maneuvering through the countless shadows casted about the warehouse. He made his way down to the floor; he was nearly next to the cage, but the shadows did not reach it's bars. He had no choice but to step out into the light to open the cage. Quickly inspecting it, he noticed that the lock hadn't been fastened. He wasn't going to complain about the incompetence here; it benefitted the both of them in this instance! He gingerly opens the cage's door; careful to not cause a sound! Who knows how loud this blasted thing was at the hinges!
Stepping inside the cage he quickly grabs the egg and cradles it to his chest. He could've sworn he'd felt a sensation not too dissimilar to what he felt when his magic flowed through his body. It caused him to hesitate just for a second, and it was almost a second too long. The guard was turning back to his post at the cage! Ulrich quickly exits the egg's prison and disappears into the shadows again; quickly making his way up into the rafters above!
The duo make their exit through the opening they came in from. They can hear the guards below realizing that their precious cargo had been stolen right from under them. The sounds of shouting and running fill the warehouse and the surrounding vicinity. They have an opening towards the back of the roof as the guards scramble in chaos momentarily! Ulrich gestures for Leni to follow, and he quickly moves for the back end of the roof; little pads of wind magic forming for them to hop off of to the safety of the ground below.
"We must disappear into the shadows of the other warehouses, Leni."
He points to the other various warehouses; unlit as they aren't being utilized at the moment like the one they had just escaped. They make their way into one of the warehouses there's ample enough darkness for them to hide for the moment. Taking refuge in a corner of the warehouse amongst one of it's massive piles of crates; the two are shrouded by the cover of darkness. The moon's light is hidden away behind the clouds that float before it.
The dancing lights of torches begin to slowly light the area outside. It seemed as though the guards weren't so incompetent after all, but if it came down to it, Ulrich would not hesitate to incapacitate any of them. A torch find it's way into the building; shining it's light upon the crates it could reach. Without realizing, Ulrich instinctively reaches one of his arms over slightly to shield Leni from the light of detection. His eyes are laser focused as he watches the man hold his torch to the crates— and with little effort, really— searching for anything suspicious.
Given the little effort that the man looked to be putting into his search, the torch leaves the building to join others in searching around the surrounding area outside. A breath escapes Ulrich which he hadn't realized he'd been holding— it was rather instinctive of him to in these stealthy situations. His eyes travel Leni and he gives her a wink. They could relax for now, but they weren't out of danger just yet. They had to make it out back to Ted and Jed's place first before they'd truly accomplished their mission.
