Leni-Aura Thunderpaw
Gender: | Female |
Age: | 20 |
Nationality: | Dragon's Cradle |
Race: | Centaur (Rabbitaur) |
Height: | 4' 3" |
Weight: | 132 lbs |
Appearance |
Leni-Aura is a short rabbitaur with once-soft features but a harsh expression. Her human-half has a fawn skin-tone, with a plethora of light scars which are most visible on unarmoured parts of her rabbit half; however, she has a great number of scars hidden beneath her armour. The most prominent and notable visible scar is a long, light scar which cuts diagonally across her jaw-line, received in the last fight with her sister. Her hair falls in dark brown waves, reaching her mid-back when let down, but is often braided to keep it from affecting her sight in combat; her eyes are a rowan-tinted hazel. Her rabbit-half has fur in a chestnut brown with darker undertones and sandy overtones, along with lighter white accents around her paws and stomach. Markings that come in on her body seem to mimic themselves in a lighter tone across her skin. Her fur gradually begins to turn white when the season transitions into fall; this creates an appearance of temporary vitiligo throughout her fur and skintone during the early spring and mid-fall, when her fur begins to turn white or brown respectively. Leni-Aura wears a number of colourful draping fabrics alongside her armour, the former which consists of a mixture of leather and light armours in order to allow for flexibility. |
Personality |
A complicated young woman; Leni-Aura seems to have layers to her personality, most of which are tucked carefully away in front of all those save who she knows best. She is, initially, viewed as a brash person; coming across too straightforward, too aggressive, or speaking in roundabout ways to mask her true feelings. While she does her best to be a closed book to those around her, Leni-Aura can be easy to read when one comes to know her mannerisms. While she speaks harshly and openly to those she does not know, Leni-Aura has a tendency to soften with time; it's a subtle and small change that comes after tolerating her usual behaviour. While her niceties are often laced with denial, coated with harsher words, Leni-Aura's expressions and body language often leave her an open book to be read. She's not particularly proficient with deception, making her very honest in her body language and expressions, and a rather poor liar. She is quick to grow embarrassed and quick to anger. |

Appearance: A young Rabbitaur who stands about two and a half feet tall at the shoulder, and stands maybe three and a half feet high in total.
Despite her rocky relationship with them, she continues to wear the armour of the Thunderpaw— her other half decorated delicately in carefully dyed silks, torn somewhat from her venture through Dragon's Cradle. The Thunderpaw Warren — A group of isolated Rabbitaur living in the Dragon's Cradle who may be regarded as fanatics, oddities, cultists, or criminals depending on who you ask. The Thunderpaw Warren, formed by Stymir Thunderpaw generations ago, consists of a group of aggressive Rabbitaur who were tired of living the meek, quaint life of the weak. Survival and adaptation to the Dragon's Cradle, paired with Stymir Thunderpaw's original fanatic teachings, has created a ferocious survival of the fittest mindset amongst its members which results in the alarming practice of exiling their weakest links when they are of age. For, "If you cannot become a predator, you will be treated as prey."
Despite it, all surviving members of the Thunderpaw Warren are fierce combatants and have gained a reputation as "particularly ferocious mercenaries" who will only consider work with those that it considers strong by its standards. Because of how centered in the storm they are, the Thunderpaw are rarely, if never, hired or noted outside of Dragon's Cradle. Because of their isolationist views, many Thunderpaw are naive to the world inside of Dragon's Cradle, let alone outside of it, creating a dangerous echo-chamber within the warren. As such, the Thunderpaw family has manipulated and twisted Avasha's visage over the years, their preferred deity, from the shy and kind god that she is into a monstrous and vengeful being, who controls the skies over the Warren.
The most notorious tradition of the Thunderpaw is their near-militant training and graduation methods; adolescents are trained from ages 8 - 18, where they will either graduate, or be deemed unfit and exiled into the storm to be hunted by those who succeeded in their graduation, thus weeding out the physically and emotionally weak from both bunches. Exiles never return home, and some graduates lose their lives out in the storm; but it is believed the strongest will always return.

History:
Leni-Aura hails from the Thunderpaw Warren in Dragon's Cradle.
Born a runt; the Thunderpaw had it out for her before she could even open her eyes. Daughter of Torm Thunderpaw, the grandson of Stymir Thunderpaw, she was spared only by the insistence of her mother that, "She be given a chance to live up to the Thunderpaw's name." With his great affection for his wife, Torm reluctantly agreed to let her live, believing that it was only a matter of time before the Dragon's Cradle would take her, anyways. Her biggest siblings held the clear advantage.
By some miracle, Leni-Aura— embarrassment of the Thunderpaw lineage— out-survived two of her siblings instead, and was spitefully pushed into the intense combat training of Thunderpaw adolescents with her surviving eldest sister, Tempest. What Leni-Aura lacked in size and weight, she did her best to make up for in sheer determination, willpower, and persistence; she trained hard and often. She was undoubtedly quick, undoubtedly sharp, and undoubtedly vicious— persisting until she was too battered or exhausted to move; but despite her speed, despite her quick wits, she was still smaller than the rest, and put in clear disadvantages in practice combats.
She never won a single battle, but she put up a heck of a fight.
Desperate to graduate, desperate to shoulder the judging eyes of her kin, desperate to bring honor to the Thunderpaw name, and desperate to hear any inkling of pride from her father who seemed to grudge against her so, she persisted to no avail.
When the time of graduation came, Leni-Aura was the first to be spoken into the exile of the storm; a tradition not even her mother could protect her from. She wept. Leni-Aura ran for her life; soon joined by the other exiles who had not made the cut of the Thunderpaw Warren. She watched as some were swallowed by the earth, others struck down by Avasha herself, and others pulled into the sky by the wind.
Hours later, the graduates were released after them to prove their worth as predators.
Tempest was the first to find Leni-Aura, exhausted and drenched— desperately taking shelter in a cave somewhere in the Dragon's Spine away from the great storm. The battle between sisters was ferocious, desperate, and spite-filled; Tempest had never respected her, and she had always hated Tempest, who was everything she had so desperately wanted to be. Leni-Aura was already at a disadvantage, so; battered, exhausted, and angry; she had no choice but to run. She thrust her spear one last time into Tempest's shoulder, and in her desperation to survive, called upon something primal— which answered.
Tempest, jolted and stunned by electricity, fell to the ground; and Leni-Aura ran, not knowing what she had done, or whether her sister were alive or dead. The rest was a blur. It took days before Leni-Aura stumbled across the border; and she collapsed, exhausted and feverish, on the road. She was picked up and cared for briefly by a small caravan of merchants, who she tries to fight upon waking up, before they calm her.
In a new land, and a strange continent she has never explored, she now roams, at first with that small band of merchants. Learning of the world. For now, Leni-Aura intends to train herself, to learn to fight and to call upon the sky once again, until she is everything the Thunderpaw wanted her to be and more; then, she will return home to prove her strength by overtaking the Thunderpaw for herself. Still, the new land is strange, and although sometimes dangerous, is also kind and bumbling— and that is truly something unfamiliar to her.

Personality:
Leni-Aura has lived her life struggling and failing to meet the brutal expectations of the Thunderpaw Warren, a small branch of Rabbitaur who once wandered into the Dragon's Cradle, and who now subscribe to a "survival of the fittest" mindset after many years of hardship living amongst the storm. She has always been persistent, strong-willed, and harsh in nature— but she is even moreso after her exile. Leni-Aura over-exerts herself in regards to everything, as though she has something to make up for. She is reckless, too-eager to fight, and masks nervousness or fear with hostility and aggression. She is her own worst critic, and punishes herself for her failures by training to overcome them ten-fold, until she is exhausted and wilting. She often seems as though she has nothing to lose, but everything to prove.
The kindness of other creatures and beings is new, and Leni-Aura does not yet know how to respond to it; she has a hard time understanding sarcasm, responding to sympathy, and saying 'please' or 'thank you'. She is slow to trust, but proves to be a loyal and faithful friend once her trust is earned. Despite her outwardly harsh attitude, Leni-Aura can soften at times; she appears calmest by herself or among those she is very comfortable with; and one would be forgiven to approach her, believing her to be a gentle soul. Sometimes, she loses her hostility to wonder and curiosity of the new lands, but it is quick to return in order to mask her embarrassment when among others. The harsher aspects of her personality multiplying primarily when she is among strangers.
Something considerably less harsh does seem to linger underneath her aggressive mask, however.
She is still very naive to the world outside of Dragon's Cradle; and it is frightening, albeit filled with many curiosities and wonders. Despite her upbringing in an echo chamber, she is young— and the world outside offers new, clashing perspectives that she is processing on the daily. Her mindset is of a state in which it is able to be shaped and molded by those she interacts with, as unfamiliar with the outside as she is. She loosely believes that Avasha had blessed her during her escape from the Thunderpaw, deeming her strong enough to some degree, and that it means she has yet to fulfill some kind of duty for a god she believes is wrathful, not gentle. She seeks that meaning as she roams the land, hoping to gain strength, and return home to overthrow her father— but, those plans might change.
