The old man didn't seem to expect they would be calling forth a dragon, huh?
Although the people in the village knew Kamille to be in leagues with a black drake, it was a rare sight for them to actually go together to the village. The villagers stepped aside and whispered among themselves, while some of the more mischievous kids tried to touch Kalaf's tail - the dragon seem patient enough with them for the moment, just growling when they started to get really annoying. Really, since Kamille made the village her home and turned it upside down, they've been starting to get used to her magical shenanigans and the weird company she kept.
The guards quickly learn of the story from Astrid, and Kamille backs it all up. Kamille basically doesn't have to do much from then on, jumping to the ground once more to push back the stone enclosure around the remaining owlbear that they left at town. She was glad to see Astrid doing exactly what she would've done, and as the people join in to greet the owlbears turned back to people, the guards that had accompanied them scooped in to put the old wizard in irons.
"I THOUGHT WE AGREED YOU WOULDN'T-"
"I made no deal with you. You're lucky to be serving only jailtime, and not becoming dragon food..."
"I don't want to eat him. He doesn't smell good."
Kamille chuckled at Kalaf's remark, possibly one of the few people who could understand him thanks to her Necklace of Animal Speech. Once again she approached Astrid, taking off one of her fancy handkerchiefs to clean the girl's face while the guards manhandled the squealing wizard.
"How about we don't call this day a complete loss and go home to have a good, relaxing bath, change clothes and have our afternoon tea?"

With things finally settling back down, maybe they can get back to their shopping for herbs and snacks. At least, that’s what Astrid hopes when the guards take away the screaming, protesting wizard. Instead, Kamille approaches her and starts cleaning the mess of sweat and dirt off the girl’s face. She’s not as gentle as Cantio, but she also knows Astrid’s tough enough to deal with an uncomfortable pull of skin if it means being cleaned up and presentable in public. Not that that’s something Astrid ever cared much about.
“Ow, oh, uh, I s’pose,” Astrid says through squished cheeks. “Maybe we try again tomorrow when there’s not a crazy wizard tryna take revenge on folks callin’ him a fraud.” Not that this is the first “wizard” she would call a fraud. At least this one can actually perform magic.
It takes a little while for the two of them to actually make their way out of town, as the villagers come forward to greet and thank them for handling one of its many problems. The Witch is something of a local celebrity. This kind of attention is a bit strange for Astrid considering her first few visits here weren’t the most pleasant. Eventually, they’re free of the village and head to Kamille’s to wash their hands of this day.
