Wearing his ring of water walking, as Shaa jumps over the side of the boat, he lands on the waves below as if they were dry ground. Not missing a beat, he makes a bee line for the pirapple boat to figure out its mysteries and put a stop to the flame attack. Man I really hope these things aren’t ghosts… He mutters to himself as he reaches the side. Gripping to the side of the tattered vessel, Shaa manages to haul himself up to the bridge. Ok, which one of you jerks tried to shoot me in the face. Several of the pirapples started to scramble to avoid the Minotaur’s wrath. As his eyes adjusted a bit, he finally saw the source of the attack. The deck was full of fire beetles that had been strapped to the side of the boat with strong leather cords. Taken aback that someone thought of using fire beetles as cannons, he is dazed for only a moment until he rights himself to look for the boat’s captain.
Looking around for something that could possibly be a cabin, Shaa spies a large pineapple trying its best to hide behind a wooden barrel. Grabbing the pineapple by its stem, he yanks upward roughly only to find an empty pineapple in his hand. He looks around quickly to make eye he didn’t accidentally behead someone ( which happened more frequently than he cared to admit). He spots a body lying on the ground covered in, supposedly, pineapple goo. The body was that of a greasy Slaad. Shaa grabbed the toad like creature and hauled him up eye level. Just what is going on here? The Slaad kicked furiously to to avail. A pirappple rushes Shaa from behind, saber in its clutches. Shaa grabs the wooden barrel with his free hand and slams it down on the tiny assailant. With a rough kick, he sends the barrel, pirapple inside screaming, flying over the side of the boat. Shaa hears the splash of the barrel as it hits the waves below. Two more pirapples start to rush him.
Slaad still in hand, he runs up a nearby flight of wooden steps that lead to the upper deck of the ghost shipp. As he look’s around, the ship looks more and more poorly kept than ghostly. As the two new assailants climb the stairs up after him, Shaa grabs a loose fire beetle and rolls it down the stairs after them, taking all three out in the process. He shakes the still wriggling Slaad who is starting to look dizzy from all of the jostling. It’s over! Call off your bugs! The Slaad shakes its slimy head and immediately starts to vomit onto the deck what can only be described as fruit mixed with a cat and some very old fish heads. He stops shaking him and decides to take a more direct approach.
With a flick of his hand, he flings the putrescent frog man over the side and into the sea with his buddy. Running back down stairs, he finds a hatch that leads down into the ghost ships cargo hold. Hoping for the best, he flips the hatch open. As soon as he does, the smell of rotten fruit and fish blast up from the space below. Ughhhh, but why? Shaa wipes some tears from his eyes and tries to shake the stench from his snout. Deciding against an attack from inside, he looks around for another way to take out the vessel.

There wasn't much of a mystery left as to whether those... things... were ghosts or not. Her cloak enveloped a much real creature, and the ravens were picking and assailing a very real target.
But now more of those pirapples tried to hoist themselves into their deck. Kamille was met with the same difficulty she faced when fighting in a ship: she couldn't damage the ship. She could, of course, just summon Kalaf and ride away, but she couldn't bring herself to damage the vessel of their friend. Instead, she prepared herself to-
Wait, what was that little shit holding out?
The pirapple that got stuck in her cloak finally made his way out of it, and after he stopped fighting the fabric, confused, he noticed something sticking out of what looked like a hidden pocket. To Kamille's horror, he raised...
...a piece of paper. An envelope.
Oh, for fucks sake...
"HEY! That is classified information! Give it back!"
The ravens that were bickering and clawing at the invaders suddenly faded into the night's sky, and the Witch saw herself getting back on the deck where she was previously, holding out a hand towards the three pirapples. Strong winds gathered at her palm, and as she released it, a strong gust of wind shot out towards them [1]. The pirapples had barely recovered from her reception aboard, but only one was sloppy enough to be pushed out of the ship by the strong winds. The two remaining rolled around, including the one holding out her envelope.
"YOU! COME BACK HERE!"
Kamille pointed a finger at the two remaining... Wait, what were they exactly? The strong winds Kamille summoned made the pinnaple crown of one of them slip off - thankfully it was just some kind of helmet, and not its actual head -, and what she saw in its place was a slimy, frog-like head.
They rose their weapons in defiance.
"Alright, I'm gonna count to three! ONE!"
From her finger, lightning jumped [2] ahead and struck... the ship's banister behind them, as her intended target fled in time out of her way. But a thunderous sound followed the lightning [3], and despite avoiding the bulk of her attack, the pirapple was pushed out of the deck by the sheer force of the thunder. The remaining offender - the one that still got her envelope on his hand - suddenly felt much less confident in his own, small two headed axe.
The pirapple shot some indecent provocation to her, turned on his heels and fled.
"Wait!"
Kamille hoped Shaa was having more luck than her at sinking the pirapple's ship.

Shaa had been in some pretty weird predicaments in his time but he was sure to remember this one. What he needed to do here was calm down and think. That was a tough proposition as he was also being repeatedly bombarded with non ghost fruit with swords. Was that what all this was about? Midnight pantry raiding for rotten fruit and fish heads? Ughh Slaads may not be the evilest creatures in Charon but they certainly were giving whomever was a run for their money. It was a rare instance that Shaa kind of missed the run of the mill goblins he ran into.
The initial panic from Shaa’s arrival had started to die down a bit and the ghost pirapples were starting to get organized. Scanning the deck, he could see at least a couple of them staring to untie the lashed up Fire beetles. Presumably so they could turn them around and start shooting at him again. He needed to figure out something quick before they made that happen. Maybe he would get lucky and the idiots would sink their own boat trying to shoot him. He wasn’t about to make it easy for them however.
Running back up the stairs for a second time, he figured that the area was small enough that, at the very least, they couldn’t get a clean shot at him which should give him an advantage. The fire beetles didn’t seem particularly cooperative ( not to mention not super excited being on the sea) so hopefully they wouldn’t make aiming be easy either. Shaa looked around the upper deck for anything else that might help him fight them off. The only things he saw however were the wheel with no current pilot, some more barrels of so ring that smelled like what was in the hood and…the anchor.
He was too busy dodging nonsense before to notice a very large iron anchor and chain that were stowed in the back. Shaa didn’t need to fight these guys anymore. It was time to go back to plan A. And these smelly fruit bandits had unwittingly provided the method for their own destruction.
Shaa had been practicing this for a little bit and was happy to get the chance to use it in real life. Pointing his finger at the anchor and chain, he fires a lightning bolt right at them. With a loud crack, the lightning hits the anchor, sending an electric charge right through it. He can feel the power pulsing in the big metal anchor and makes a mental connection to it, shifting its polarity. The anchor has now been magnetized.
The big Minotaur smiles with glee. Using the power of magnetism, he hauls the anchor and chain as high up into the air as he can. The pirapples from the lower deck who are still messing with the leather straps and some cranky fire beetles, stop what they are doing. They all look up above the ship in confusion as their anchor seems to be floating in mid air all by itself.
Hey Scrag says one of the pirapples to his companion. When did we get a floating anchor? That’s pretty good for pretending to be ghosts. The other pirapple scratches his fruit head in confusion. Got me, I didn’t know we had one either. Man, they never tell us nothin! The first pirapple brushes away the comment with a scaley green hand. Pssst so what? We get all of the fruit and fish heads we can eat with this gig. If the captain wants to throw in a little theatricality, who are we to complain? As the two discussed the situation and continued untying their fire beetle, the noticed the anchor starting to spin in the air…and it was picking up speed.
What is the captain doing? The pirapple wonders curiously. That anchor is moving very fast, that’s kind of dangerous. Maybe he’s trying to smash the Minotaur with it? What is a Minotaur even doing on a fruit boat? Least we weren’t on the boarding party. Those guys are idiots. I know right? I heard Glamac got out on the boarding party because he was messing with the first officer’s sister. Really? The two start laughing when a third pirapple rushes over to them. You two stop messing around and get that fire beetle up there, that Minotaur is trouble…the captain is over board…damn fruit is spilling everywhere. Wait, what do you mean the captain is overboard? Wait….if the captain is over board, who’s controlling the ghost anchor. The panicky pirapple looks even more confused. What ghost anchor? Scrag points up to the the anchor in the sky that is now failing wildly. Awww nooo….
Shaa’s antics have managed to keep the pirapples at bay. Time to end this. He throws his hands down brusquely. As he does so, the anchor and chain coming crashing down into the deck smashing it to pieces. Nearby pirapples and fire beetles start scattering while others jump over the side. Up and down he brings the massive anchor, blasting holes throughout the ship. Hahaha teach you scum lickers to shoot at me! With a final twist, Shaa slams the anchor into the mast, bringing the large pole right down the center of the ship. Suddenly, he can feel the boat start to lurch to the side. Annnd that’s my que.
Once again, Shaa hops over the side of the boat and runs back to his own ship. As he climbs back over the side, he is surprised to see boarders causing problems.

For the moment being, Kamille completely ignored the fact there were still a few pirapples aboard, or that the anchor on their ship was suddenly floating several yards in the air. All she wanted was the piece of paper that her little thief was holding.
"HEY! MISCHIEF! A little help here!"
The raven, who had been bullying some other pirapple, rose his head as Kamille indicated the one holding her letter. Mischief saw no shinny on that one, but sometimes the Witch asked him to go fetch things that were not shinnies - and then gave a shinny in return. That was as complex as his thought process could get, so he merrily left the slaap he'd been poking with his beak and went to try to retrieve the piece of paper from the other.
The black feathers of her cloak rippled, and they took her shape as the figure of the woman disappeared from the deck, leaving just... another raven behind [1]. The pirapples were both confused for a moment, but kept on their way, trying to break into the vessel and trying to find something valuable to steal.
The pirapple with the letter stopped to take a breath after a moment of running wildly through the deck, as he seemed to have lost the woman who was chasing him. Heh. Then, he took a look at the envelope on his hand. He didn't know why to be so worked up about a fucking piece of paper, but sometimes the pink people put so much value in so much nonsense he wasn't at all surprised. Perhaps he could sell it to someone who also saw value in it...
Then, he felt a tap to his right shoulder, and looked over it.
"CAW! Hello!"
It was the raven, who landed on his shoulder and eyed him intensely for a second, and then looked to the letter.
"Ya wanna this?! Come an' get it!"
And as he provoked the bird, swinging the piece of paper away from the raven on his shoulder... another one just came the other way and snatched it from his stretched out hand.
"Oh, sod..."
The second raven was very different from the first one, primarily because she wasn't a raven at all. When she landed before him, her shape shifted once again to the lady he saw before. Oh, that was a neat trick. The letter already in hands and once again, she safely tucked it away in her clevage, right in time of seeing the minotaur climbing on the ship once again.
"Hold tight, Shaa!"
Raising her hands to the skies, suddenly the wind picked up on speed. Encircling her in a tornado, the winds pushed back the slaad right in front of her, while aparently doing nothing to Mischief. The tornado grew outwards, promptly pushing the remaining slaads out of the deck, while being clearly inocuous to Shaa and herself [2].

Shaa watched gleefully as the sorceress unleashed the devastating gale across the ship, flinging the miniature pirates into the sea. It was a spell that he was very familiar with as an elementalist but it was fun watching it unleash from the other side. As they land in the water he cackles after them. Haha bet ya didn’t see that coming did ya jerks? Have a nice swim back to shore on whatever pieces of your boat are left. Maybe you’ll think twice about your career choices. The only thing Shaa was worried about were the fire Beatles that got gang pressed to be make shift cannons. They were usually in the desert so he wasn’t sure how they would handle the waters of the sea.
To his surprise, he got his answer. In the distance, the beetles had swam together and interlocked their legs together and on top of each other. By doing so, they managed to create a large flotilla of beetles that seemed to float just fine. Shaa had never seen them ever do something like that before. Hunh, learn something new everyday. With the threat removed, the captain approached them, a nervous look in his eye.
Are they gone? He asks with a nervous stutter. Are they haunting us? Shaa looks at him incredulously. Ummmm no. I don’t think they are going to be haunting anyone again for a very long time. Your fruit ..Shaa wasn’t on the boat so he actually wasn’t sure what happened to the cargo. He looks over to Kamille for confirmation. Is fine.. I guess. At any rate, let’s hurry up and get to the island. I’m pretty beat at this point. Sure sure of course. He looks at Kamille. Thank you so much dear lady. You were the main reason that we are still floating. He looks over his wind swept deck. Mostly. But no matter, couple adjustments and we will be back on our way.
The captain leaves the two on the deck to bustle about the work of the ship. Shaa walks over to Kamille and yawns loudly. Well that was super fun. You ok? Shaa looks her up and down to check for injuries but suddenly feels awkward about the unintentional gawking. Ummm yeah you look fine. Spiffy. Smooth. Ahem, anyway. We should probably try to get some more sleep. Once we hit the shore, it’s your party. Where do you think that we should go first? Remember, we just need to keep as low a profile as possible until we get our next ride on the other side of the island.
Shaa had been pretty cavalier about showing up to the city. In truth, he was there all of the time and mostly didn’t have any issues. As long as they avoided being too obvious , they should be fine. Shaa looked over at the burning wreckage of the thrashed pirate ship and got a deep pit in his stomach. He could be low key if he wanted to.. Right? Maybe he should wear a hat or something.

So disheveled as she was, Kamille seemed to appreciate the comment, even if she didn't believe it. Picking up her cloak and straightening up her hair, she chuckled at the minotaur.
"Not as good as you, apparently. I'm gonna stay up a bit longer, there's no way of falling back to sleep after all of this. We should be able to rest properly once we reach the Capitol."
With a heavy sigh, she looked around for a moment. Yep, looked like she was gonna have to get used to this while traveling with Shaa. Some nonsense about fighting ghost fruits, some explosions here and there.
Everything would be fine.
"I have an old friend who owns a tavern by the docks. It's a small, quieter one. And he's very good at getting the latest hot gossips, so we might also have a good direction on our next move from there."
But she should have expected that "keeping a low profile" was a bit harder for them both. Kamille did offer Shaa a cloak, but it barely covered his shoulders and looked like it could be a scarf rather than a cape. When they arrived, the bustling merchant activity at the port was already starting to resume, as the nightcrawlers and drunks made their way out to the streets. The sun was still setting, painting the horizon in bright oranges and reds.
Kamille traded her feathery cloak for a simple one - Shaa had been warned that the piece made her easily recognizable in a crowd. If it was as easy as putting up a different piece of cloth over your head to become unrecognizable, it should be easy for them, right?
Right?
Wrong.
As they docked, Kamille guided Shaa through the dock as someone who had walked that path many times before - she was raised in Sol City, so as much was expected. Although... a noble lady wouldn't get to know so well these parts of town, for sure. Kamille did mention something about being a unruly, lousy apprentice who ditched her prestigious Master on occasion to go drink with sailors.
"Here's the place. Uhm.... Let's.... Let's see how this will fare out........"
It was a small tavern, certainly not known for the quality of the ale or even the price. The person behind the bar was an elf - a handsome one, clean, maybe even a bit more fancy than the first idea of the place would have suggested, dressed in simple green robes. The elf was imediatelly drawn by the huge sight of the minotaur, squinting his eyes at Shaa. Then, when Kamille pulled down her hood, he opened up in a warm, bright smile, opening his arms as if to offer a hug.
"BY GINMA'S FUZZY HORSE ARSE! YOU HAVEN'T AGED A DAY, MILLY! What the fuck is your pretty bottocks doing in my small stabilishment again?!?! I thought you'd be out and about with a rich vampire lord by now! Wha-"
"Nice to see you again, Fenthir. Can.... Can we talk in private?"
So much for being stealthy.

The floor boards gave a small whining creak as Shaa followed behind Kamille into the tavern. He had spent most of his time in Sol either on missions or running away from the cops so admittedly he new very little about the smaller establishments around the city. This tavern in particular seemed to be one that he would normally put on his radar but it was unfamiliar.
He watched as Kamille and the bartender bantered a bit. She met a familiar face so that was good news. He still thought it would be a good idea to walk around and act like normal so that there was no chance word of their true adventure would get out. Yup, just a couple of random adventures running around like normal. Nobody on a life time mission of revenge and justice around here. Do de do.
He looks up and sees the bartender motion to the two of them to follow him. Going first , he enters a small wooden doorr behind the bar. Before entering the door, he turns to an Avian woman who is cleaning some tables. Charla, please watch the bar for a bit. I’ll be back in a few. The pretty bird woman, who was tall with red and gold feathers, nods at the elf and gets back to cleaning the tables. The tavern seemed pretty slow at the moment so she probably wasn’t super worried. As they headed into the back room, Shaa looks back and notices the Avian watching them as they go. When she notices that he sees her, she quickly goes back to cleaning tables. He gets an uneasy feeling but proceeds back into the room.
The room in the back is medium sized and well furnished. There is a small table with 4 chairs set around it. The walls have shelves with several typical bar supplies and several books. There is an adjoining room that is much louder that leads to a small kitchen. He notices a trap door in the floor that he assumes leads to more storage. The rod holds his hand out to the chairs around the table. Please sit down. What is all of this about? Shaa looks over at Kamille. Could they trust this guy? He trusted her judgement but, for some reason, that feeling in his stomach had not gone away.

If Kamille noticed anything odd about the aviankin, she didn’t let it show as she sat down on the chair offered. Clearly the owner was an old friend, as they reminisced about the old days for a couple of minutes as they were led to the back. Looks like Kamille was a terrible apprentice after all, fleeing her class to go drink with sailors and catch up with the latest gossips around the port - and turns out Fenthir was one of the main suppliers of gossip for the Witch.
"You know what I was thinking the other day? Rememeber the red fellblood you brought here a long, loooong time ago? Did you happen to meet him again?"
"We'll have time for that someday, Fenthir... Now. We need to stay low for the time being."
"I'd say it's a tough job staying low with your mysterious company..."
"I'm sorry, this is my friend, Shaa."
The light fled the pretty elf's eyes suddenly.
"Shaa Rhunn"
His smile faded. He chuckled nervously.
"Ha... Certainly you're joking, Milly..."
Kamille crossed her arms, leaning back.
"As if your reputation is spotless."
"I've never.... Milly! Oh my-....! What are you....?!?!?!?! WHAT?! WHY?! Please, I just used a lot of money on my other business, I can’t afford to-....! N-no offense, Mister! It's just...!!!! I mean...."
The elf started to hurriedly pace back and forth, his head deep into future problems that weren’t before him yet. Certainly he knew of Shaa's reputation, as it became obvious by his worries as he knew of Shaa's identity.
"Come on, Fenthir. You owe me."
"Yes, yes... I know, I know... But I can’t let you stay here! I'm sorry, Milly... Maybe...... Yes, maybe you can talk to my brother.... down the Mermaid alley? Not... the best place for a lady, but not the worst you've dealt with, I'm sure... uhm... He runs a stable there and keeps a vacant room for a mate. He mentioned his chap was on a two-month voyage right now, so he should be able to take you in. Tell him it pays his debt, and he won't make a fuss."

Shaa couldn’t believe his ears. He delt with overt racism all the time as a Minotaur which he constantly ignored, but when people implied he was cattle, it tended to cross a line with him. Did you just say that we should see your brother….because he runs a STABLE?! You think I’m some sort of stupid cow that needs to be out to pasture?! There was the possibility that the mention of the stable was complete coincidence but Shaa was a bit sensitive to the implication. Oh am I disturbing you? Perhaps I should put a bell around my neck and go put myself outside with the rest of the animals?? Breathe. Shaa needed to breathe and he knew it. He could tell that he was getting himself worked up and he needed to be calm. For Kamille’s sake. For his parent’s sake, for stealth’s sake. Shaa looks the bedraggled elf right in the eyes and goes MMMOOOOOOOOOO…
With that, Shaa stomps out of the room before he does something he knows he will regret. He wasn’t doing any good in there, Kamille would need to handle it. As he paces around a bit, Charla, the avian woman from earlier catches his eye. Walking over, apparently unbothered by his grousing, she offers him a chair at one of the tables. You look upset. The avian coos softly. But if we are being honest, most Minotaurs I have ever known look upset most of the time. I have learned to ignore the grump face. Shaa looks over at her skeptically. They weren’t here to make friends but at least she was trying to be nice which was more than most would do. He crossed his arms and scowled a bit.
I’m fine he lied. The room was just getting stuffy and I needed some air. You got anything good to drink around here? Charla thinks for a moment, walks over to the bar and grabs a medium sized bottle and two glasses. Returning to the table, she pours a drink for both of them and takes a seat. Try this one, bought it from a couple of dwarven traders couple months back. Curious, Shaa downs the glass and immediately regrets not taking his time. His insides seize for a moment and then relax, the fire in his throat subsiding. Smooth. He says hoarsely. The Avian down the same, shakes her feathers and grimaces a bit before relaxing. It kind of punches you in the face a bit but I like it. Reminds of what mom used to make. Remind me to meet your mother. Oh, looking to meet my parents already? So bold! She says jokingly and a little flirty. Shaa ignores the innuendo and leans back a bit in the chair, feeling a little better. Looking over at Charla, he smiles. Your’e good. She laughs, stands up from the table and goes to put the bottle back. As she turns to leave, she looks at him and says. I know. With that, she goes back to cleaning the tables. He wondered how negotiations were proceeding in the other room.

Shaa's reaction was..... something else. Even Kamille widened her eyes at the minotaur's outburst, but the elven man was decidedly a step away from a panic attack, even when he loudly mooed at him.
The room was tense when Shaa exited and the door shook on its hinges. For a whole minute, there was silence. And then the Witch's shoulders started to shake violently, as she tried to laugh as quietly as possible, not entirely sure if because of her friend's shocked face, or Shaa's outburst, or just the plain MOOOOOOOO.
".....You......... You find this funny?! What kind of people you're friends with these days Kamille?!?!"
"....I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I never... I never expected this... I mean..... hahahaha..... I... can't...."
Kamille had come to appreciate Shaa's company dearly for the past few days they've been venturing together, but she didn’t claim to know the minotaur past his famous deeds. That was... good to know. She'd make sure not to make such connections with cattle near Shaa, lest she wanted him mad. The Witch chuckled to herself. Perhaps she could even make good use of that... That, and the proclivity for Shaa to lose his food.
The negociations took a while longer, but they tried to keep it short. In a few moments Kamille emerged back to Shaa, with what looked like a very, very big cloak. She had a playful smile on her lips - with the shock of the situation wearing off, it looked like she found the whole ordeal quite funny.
"Are you ready for this news? He got us somewhere else to stay, but... It's deep down on the Mermaid Alley."
Which, as Shaa knew more than a bit about Sol City, he would know it was the favored place of the ladies of the night.
"It's some kind of inn that the owner rents for the ladies, if you know what I mean. Fenthir tells me they always have room, and they won't complain if they see the color of solars. But it's not the safest place. The ladies are known to be...... quick. Fast with the hands and with the scams. And they gossip like Fenthir and I, so we need to be extra careful. So... What do you think?"
The cloak she had on her arms was clearly for Shaa, in the hopes it would be enough to cover him and hide his identity.
Of course, it all seemed to be one step behind a huge disaster.

After the drink and pleasant company, Shaa had managed to calm down quite a bit before Kamillie returned. He noticed her carrying a very large cloak and assumed it was for him.
Hey… he started, a little embarrassed at being so grumpy in front of her. How did it go? Tell me it went horribly so I can go put his face through a wall. Shaa listened as Kamille explained that they would going to Mermaid alley and hiding away in a room down there. Shaa, of course, had heard of it. Being in the fighters guild, bawdy talk about passionate exploits and ladies in the entertainment business were normal course over long journeys. Shaa himself had never been there personally or even been in a serious relationship. The wanderer’s life was a solitary one.
Shaa laughed a bit. I don’t really worry too much about thieves. I’m a bit of a minimalist. Shaa gestures up and down his mostly naked body, devoid of armor or weapons that theives might want to steal. On top of that, Shaa’s spacial awareness was honed to the point where he would notice actions against him almost immediately. He did however have some valuable items that were kept in his bag of the infinite. If anyone tried to take that however, thieves would find a very grumpy fire pixy waiting for them. It had only happened once. Shaa was very drunk at a bar and was not at his best. No one bothered him except for a rogue had the guts to stick his hand in and try his luck. When he pulled it out again, he ended up only pulling back a burning stump.
Shaa stands up to his full hight and finds himself a bit wobbly still. Man, what was in that drink. He breathes deeply for a moment, centers, then puts on the cloak. He is surprised to find that it fits well around the shoulders. The only issue is his large horns. He pulls hood over his eyes but his horns stick out like sore thumbs. He shrugs a bit. Meh, close enough.
Shaa waves goodbye to Charla who is wiping down some tables in the corner. She smiles warmly and then gets back to her work. The big Minotaur turns and walks out of the bar towards their next destination. Turning to Kamille he comments. I know I have said it before but I want to thank you for all you are doing. This can’t be easy. But … I am here for you too. Whatever business you have to deal with here, I have your back. No sweat. It’s not like I am in a hurry or anything. It’s been years and the guy doesn’t even know I’m alive, presumably.
As the two waked and chatted, Shaa kept a an eye out for anyone he knew or that might recognize him. He got several looks due to his sheer size but one one approached them. As always, being sneaky was way out of his tool kit so the whole thing was a bit unnerving. He wondered to himself if they would make it out unnoticed.

"It all went down well. Fenthir is a good friend, he... Just got a bit scared of you, but that might serve us well."
She chuckled at that remark. Kamille already had a reputation of walking among all circles, including some of the most dangerous ones. She often kept company that was as dangerous, and that added up to her perceived reputation.
The Witch's sunny disposition turned into an expression of worry as she noticed Shaa a bit wobbly. Just how much did this minotaur drank while she was talking? Couldn't be much, they weren't talking for a long time. At the same time she often didn't pay much attention to her pockets - coins and items could always be restored, as she would often say - as a Master Alchemist, she usually paid a lot of attention to people's drinks. And, of course, her own. It was not the easiest of tricks to put something in her cup - unless, of course, she was distracted by a handsome man...
"Are you okay, Shaa? Just to be clear... I cannot hold you if you fall, you're aware of that, right?"
Either way, it looked like the cloak... worked? Kinda? She figured it was a difficult task to disguise Shaa, so that was right up her expectations. Right now she was relying on people being too distracted by the ladies of the Mermaid alley to pay attention to the giant minotaur walking around...
Yeah, they're fucked.
But then Shaa turns to extend his sympathy towards her, as they head out of the tavern and into to the chilly, salty air of the night. Her feet took her without missing a step, clearly used to walking around the sleaziest part of town, as much as she walked through the Court room of the Sun King. The Witch smiled at Shaa.
"Truth be told, Shaa, I had always wished for the Fighters guild and Mages guild to be on good terms. So if you think I'm not getting anything out of this, rest assured this interests me as well. And I would be lying if I said I didn't care about you, really. But don't worry, if I need some walls to be busted, I'll make sure to call you."
With a reassuring touch on his arm, Kamille smiled at him. Her father's words would suddenly ring in her head, however. You create attachments too easily. Trying to shake that off, she paid attention to the path ahead of them. It was a quick walk towards the Mermaid alley, and she pulled the hood of her ragged cloak over her head. As the movement started to die down on other areas of town, it was clear where some people were headed, as the Mermaid alley was the part of town that woke up as the rest slept. The ladies of the night littered the street, some already chatting up drunk sailors and poor workers trying their luck. Kamille held her purse closer to her body, under her cloak. During her years as apprentice, she had made some friends around there too, but she doubted many were still around. Finding Fenthir on his usual tavern was luck enough. Looking around, as she clearly tried to find the place among a wall of gray, mismatched buildings, she didn't seem to notice when her hood slipped down a bit, or when a man started to approach.
"I guess... If this is not the place, then it must be-"

The walk was helping Shaa get his feet back a bit. Shaa was definitely someone that could hold his liquor normally. Whatever was in that drink was something special. He would have to keep that in mind the next time he wandered around this way. For some reason, he was here a lot more often than he ever intended. As the two talked and walked, Kamille’s gentle touch gave him a nice reassurance that, no matter what happened on this trip, they were in it together to the end. Shaa was never sure if he was a good judge of character or not but he hoped his instincts were right on this one.
The streets were filled with random people of different backgrounds and even species. Shaa tried to keep his eyes down and not catch anyone’s direct attention. This was the kind of place that he hoped that everyone would mind their own business. Some people were better at that than others.
Hey, doll! Wher' ya goin' wit such a hurry? I'm sure I can pay ya mor' than bull man. Whadya say, love?
The Minotaur shook his head slightly and immediately was frustrated that they had to stay low key. Regular Shaa would have handled this clown in 5 seconds and been on his way. But he was not regular Shaa, he’s was stealth Shaa. Keeping it low and subtle. Ugh.
Come on baby. I got a place just right over there and we can get this party started. Shaa wondered what kind of animal that Kamille was going to turn this guy into. Then he got an idea.
Oh sir. I’m afraid you are mistaken. We are actually just humble traveling magicians looking for work. There are lots of people here with extra coin. I don’t suppose you would be interested in a show? The man looked at the two travelers skeptically. You two. A Minotaur and a beautiful woman. Traveling magicians. Shaa smiled mischievously. Yes absolutely. The man takes a step back and looks at them a bit too closely for Shaa’s liking. You’re a magician? He asks again almost sounding like he’s trying to fit what he is seeing with what’s being said with no luck. No, she’s the magician, I’m the sexy assistant meant to distract you. Shaa winks at him and the man bursts out laughing. No, you are a comedian. Shaa proceeds to produce a single silver coin in his hand and shows it to the man. Come over here and watch closely. This is a private show.
The three turn a corner where no one else can see them. Shaa shows the coin in his left hand and holds his right hand open so he can see it’s empty. Ok watch close. Taking the coin with his right hand, he makes a fist with his left and places the coin on top. The then shoves the coin with his right thumb into his left fist and closes his right hand. Holding both fists out, he asks Ok, so where is the coin? The obnoxious man looks at both fists carefully. Well the left fist is the obvious answer but…well you are a magician… True. …. I’m going to say it’s in your right fist. Shaa purses his lips and raises an eye brow slightly. Are you sure? He asks suspiciously. Yeah, right fist. The crafty Minotaur opens an empty right fist. Damn. He then opens his left fist, which was also empty. With a flourish of his hand, he pulls the coin from behind the man’s ear and says Ta Daaaa!
The man gives him a polite clap. Ok bull man, You got me. But wait, there’s more. Shaa closes his fist again and points to it. Ok look closely. The man peers down at the fist. As he does, Shaa gives him an uppercut, knocking him unconscious. He grabs him before he can fall down and lays him down carefully in the alleyway. Taaa daaa ….jackass. He looks over at Kamille and smiles. If you think that’s impressive, you should see me juggling. Did I ever tell you about the time I juggled some goblins in barrels? That was hilarious….
Walking quickly and quietly from the scene, Shaa spies a building. Is that it? He asks.

Perhaps the Witch shouldn’t have looked so confused when Shaa started to roll out his performance. If the guy had glanced at her, he would have found she was equally amused by Shaa's tricks. Kamille expected the old fist-to-the-teeth trick, but that one?
Shaa was deliciously unpredictable!
When he followed to give the man a "private show", Kamille followed eagerly - as if she wanted to watch that too! She was already using all her might to keep a - sort of - straight face as the minotaur told the story about them being traveling magicians.
She was starting to wonder if Shaa was gonna try to scam the man for some money for such "private show" when BAAM! She even jumped up when Shaa actually punched the guy square in the face. It took her a whole second to burst into laughter, holding her stomach as she wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes.
"OH MY GOD SHAA! Hahahahaha.... That was... The best trick! Oh.... Oh I will get my hands on some glitter... Now I want to be your assistant! I want to see the juggling trick too sometime!"
It took more than a few moments to find her composure. They were sucking at the stealth part of this mission, but so far they were excelling in being one step ahead of the consequences of their actions, so... so far so good?
So far...
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry... I'm on it.... Huh... It looks like the place, yes? Let's go."
It became abundantly clear that the building was an inn mostly used for the ladies and their business.
And probably some even more dubious business as well...
On one hand, that meant that few questions asked. When Kamille approached the counter, the woman behind it shot a glance towards them both - a very judgemental-yet-professional, I-ve-seen-it-all - look. Kamille put a few coins over the counter.
"Room for two."
"Names?"
A few more coins.
"Jack and Jill."
The woman blinked slowly before collecting the coins and turning to get an old rusty key.
"Room 45. Upstairs, turn right."

Key in hand, the two head up the stairs as casually as possible to Room 45. Found on the third floor of the building, Shaa can hear noises coming from several of the other rooms as they pass by. He tries to keep an old road song playing loudly in his head as to not understand anything happening in the adjacent rooms. He knew a lot of horrible things that people did out in the open. He didn’t want any part of hearing what happened in private. He was glad this was a secret mission. If any of the fighters guild ever found out he was here, he would never hear the end of it.
I think that’s it over there. He says turning the key in an equally rusty lock. They entered the room and the first thing that Shaa noticed was the smell. The room smelled old and like it hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. He got a sharp instinct to burn the entire thing down and make a run for it but that would be counterproductive. Steeling himself, he steps into the room and looks around for anything overly concerning. He waves to Kamillie that the room is clear enough for her to come in.
The room itself was sparsely furnished. There were two single beds with small wooden night tables next to them. Shaa checked the tables and found a couple mostly used candles and a some small jars with various lotions. There was also a small table with a couple chairs in the corner. The room was interior so there were no windows to speak of. The candles seemed to be the only source of light. Shaa grabs one of the candles, breathes a bit of fire to light it and places it into a small holder on the table. Ugh. A place like this, I would probably want as little light here as possible as well.
He pushes one of the beds to the far wall, opening up space in the center of the room. He rarely slept on beds, mostly because his horns wreaked havoc on pillows and mattresses, so the floor seemed the way to go. Once he had sat down and settled a bit, he looked over at Kamille. Swanky. He said with a grin. Thank you for finding us a place. I don’t mean to seem ungrateful. So he said stretching out a bit. So, here’s the question. We are here. What can I do to help you with your business here?
It was something that that was weighing on him a bit. Shaa had started this to help her with the death house. Done. Then it changed into her helping him with family issues he never even knew he had. If he could help her with her business here, it would help him feel, maybe a bit more even about things. As a minimalist, he didn’t like idea of huge favors hanging over his horned head. And this was a big one. Or maybe it was more than that now. Kamille had gotten a deeper insight into Shaa through this journey than most. It made him feel vulnerable but, in a good way. No matter what it was, Shaa was sure he could do something. Even if it took, a little magic.
