Gwendolyn definitely found herself incredibly bored on this cold midafternoon. Snow was falling softly on the dock as she lazily leaned against Redolence, her massive smoking maul. The smoke produced around her was the only thing keeping her warm and awake as she watches several ships bouncing against the docks. She had been hired to ensure no one bothered them before they set sail for the Arid Mesa, but she could only imagine what kind of ruffian would bother several random ships in some far-off dock in the frost gale. The abundance of incense fumes filled the area around her, the smell of the sea prompting her to light several censers to ward off the scent of fish and ocean.
Several civilians wandered about in the dockyard, and Gwendolyn had long since stopped paying attention to the various potential threats and wanderers. She leaned against her maul, almost falling asleep were it not for the chill in the air. The only thing that had stopped the ships from setting sail was the ice in the bay, projected to clear up tomorrow. As easy as this job was, Gwen only wished for the day to be over. Her family letter had insisted she participate in the warding here, apparently to get closer to the head of the dockyard. She yawned, caring little for what insignificant politics were at play.

There's something about political figures that seems to irk Astrid. Whether it's an inherent dislike or something that's built up over time, she's not really sure. What she does know is that from the sounds of it, nobles are taking advantage of desperate people and sending them up to the hostile environment of Arid Mesa for their own profit. In some aspects, the situation has some Very Veliky Vibes, but Veliky is a cutthroat businesswoman in a world that vehemently opposes women being awesome.
Nobles so far have not been the nicest of people. The Marrowvines were alright, she supposes, but she didn't actually talk to them. Oh, wait, Grandpappy Bellighul is technically a noble. She stops thinking about it. Someone asked her to do something to help people and that's what she's here for!
It's another cold day in Frost Gale. Of course, it is! The wind causes the cold to seep into her bones and sends chills down her spine. At least the hellhound Spicy Pawsage keeps Astrid warm in some regard, though the pup doesn't enjoy the cold either. After asking around, she finally reaches the docks where there are a... surprising number of armed guards. Okay, so they're expecting some attacks. Someone might have mentioned that, actually.
So how does she go about this? Unfortunately, stealth is not Astrid's best method of approach. Right now, her best idea is put a few holes in the ships while they're docked so they sink to the bottom of the ice-cold water. A few blasts of ice magic to freeze them over won't hurt either. The art of ice magic is new to her still, but she can't wait to make use of the abilities granted by Frok the Fell Frost's fundamentum. The half-dwarf cracks her knuckles. A few goons won't be too much trouble. In theory.
So, the well-armed and armored short stack walks along the docks as if she totally belongs. She so very clearly does not.

There was a ruckus afoot. Gwen could hear two of the dock patrolmen harassing someone. They were barking dogs tugging at their leash, begging to let loose on someone in this relatively quiet assignment. Trash, couldnt even hold it together for one shipment. Several of the potential colonizers hooted and hollered as she approached, clearly jeering at whatever or whomever the guards had stopped. The shorter of the two stopped mid sentance, noticing the strong smell of incense and perfume as she approached. He saluted, but the other seemed not to notice. Putting a hand on the tall one with the metal cuirass, she spoke authoritatively.
"What the fuck are you doing, what is this nuisance"
"Lady Mystwud! Apologies, there's just this kid walking around in armor, She has weapons and wont hand them over."
"Great..." She muttered, her lips partially concealed by the thin veil of oil and spices covering her lower face. Gwendolyn shoved the tall one out of the way as the short one went to catch his friend. It certainly was just a child, dressed like a mercenary. She chuckled, and reached out to pat the kids head in a dismissive manner. She had almost two feet on the short blonde child, at least with her boots.
"What are you doing here, short stuff. You're a bit late for Black Harvest, were all out of candy. Get the hell out of here unless you wanna become the next settler of Arid Mesa."
Her tone was almost mocking, what's the worst that could happen

Having drawn some attention and been cornered by two guards, Astrid seems perfectly calm with the situation at hand, though Spicy Pawsage at her side growls at the other two canines. A red light glows below his black fur in his chest cavity, but he doesn't attack yet. The half-dwarf keeps her hand on Spicy's head and just looks between the two guards, an indignant pout crossing her face when they accuse her of not being "willing" to hand over her weapons.
"I told ya, if I did hand 'em over, ya wouldn't be able ta carry 'em!" she retorts, looking at the newly present woman smelling heavily of spices and incense. The smells kind of remind her of Vikram, but this woman is obviously not the turbaned Seeker. In fact, she's tall, looks strong, and also carries a sizable hammer. By the sound of it, she's in charge of this outfit, which means she and Astrid are in direct opposition to one another.
"Here, I'll show ya," she says, setting down the almost impossible-to-see war hammer with the pale ice enchantment. While one of the guards makes a poor attempt to pick it up, Gwendolyn pats her on the head and speaks to her in a tone Astrid's hear dozens of times and doesn't appreciate any more than the last time. The girl frowns at the warrior woman and pushes her hand off of her.
"I ain't playin' dress up," she huffs. "Are ya in charge of this operation?" There's a significant challenge in Astrid's voice despite her tiny size. "What're ya doin' helpin' jerky rich people take advantage of folks, huh?"
The guard attempting to lift the hammer tries with all his might but can only lift it a couple of inches at best. "Gods above, this thing is heavy!" he says, wiping a brow and taking a step back. The other guard pushes him aside.
"You're just a weakling, let me try," he says, stepping forward and pulling on the hammer. His attempts aren't much more successful, and Astrid looks between the two of them with the smuggest expression she can muster. Instead, she offers up the battle hammer from her hip. The metal cord dangles from the end of the haft, connected to her red gauntlets.
"Ya can try this one if ya want."

She hesitated momentarily, The Guard captain was still in his office, and the Dock foreman was off inspecting one of the ships. "In charge" was certainly subjective, and right now, this was her problem to deal with.
"Yeah, I'm in charge right now. It's heartwarming to see the local youths so interested in current events. We're colonizing the Mesa, one way or another. Sorry to tell ya, but you gotta crack a few eggs to make a lucrative omelet."
Smiling smuggly, she regards her fellow guards foolish attempts to powerlift, which quickly loses her amusement. It was almost embarrassing, she would have to put an end to this. Before the thought even finished crossing her mind, the short one was already falling for it again. The guard bent slightly, cautiously reaching out to touch the head of the hammer offered him. A spark leapt from the tip to his finger as he yelped, waving his hand about as though it had caught fire for a moment. "Why you li-" He exclaimed, before the punch he was about to throw was caught by Gwendolyn. The expression on the kids face was blurry, but Gwen could catch its vibe.
She did not like this kids smug aura, it mocked her.
"Playtimes over kid, get the fuck out of here. You're getting in the way of progress"

Sensing the hostility from the woman, Spicy Pawsage lets out a low rumbling growl in his throat. Astrid sets her hand on his head to keep him still, but the snarling dogs nearby don't help the situation. She pulls her battle hammer back, having gotten her little shock off on the overconfident guard, and she looks the armored woman up and down. Most people don't talk to a kid this way, but this lady doesn't seem to mind. In all honesty, Astrid kind of appreciates the even footing in that aspect, even if this lady is being a big fat jerk.
"I'm not goin' nowhere," Astrid asserts firmly. "I've got a job ta do, and if gonna get in me way, then I s'pose I'll have ta knock ya a good one and send ya ta the moon." She looks between the two guards. In part, they're just doing their jobs. In the other part, they're in her way, and they haven't been the nicest to her. Very calmly, she pulls her goggles over her eyes, red lenses shining in the afternoon light. "Sorry 'bout this, boys," she says only somewhat apologetically.
Then, she claps her hands together, and fire bursts forth from her palms and crawls up the length of her red gauntlets. She quickly punches each of the guards in the stomach. Flames burst against their torsos, and the force of the blows stumbles them or knocks them back completely. Just as quickly, her war hammer is in her hand, wielded as if it were as light as a toy hammer.

"Hey! What's your problem" Oh, the kids got some fancy toys and want to rumble huh? It was a bit concerning how much force was behind the punches to be honest. So be it, she had dealt with problem children before, several of her brothers and sisters needed a good smacking around now and then, though for different reasons. One of the guard dogs had growled in a strange way earlier, or was that the girls dog? She only saw black and grey lumps close to the ground if she didnt get close to them, and their scent already revolted her from this far away. She hefted the maul off of her shoulder, letting the weight of the head swing it to be held with both hands readily. Enlightened Redolence had been one of the only positive inheritances her family had bestowed her, the other being near blindness and indentured servitude. What is the peasants saying? If all you have is a hammer? The issue in front of her was certainly a nail in that case.
"You wanna play with hammers huh? I'll show you a hammer" She stated, swinging at the girl's chest. The incense from the maul flared out with the increase in airflow through the head of it. This kid had probably never been told no in her life. She hoped that wasn't projection.

Oh, Astrid's been told no more times than she can count. Having a mother unwilling to humor even the simplest of requests made her hesitant to ask for things after a while. Even when she was left on her own, she rarely asked for help and instead looked for ways to help herself within her capabilities. She's heard no plenty of times. The difference between then and now is that now Astrid has the power not to take no for an answer.
With a cast of Bullet Dash, Astrid zips under Gwen's swing behind her. She knows well that whiffing it with a heavy hammer can easily throw you off balance, especially when you've braced yourself for an impact. It happened to her many times when practicing with her own hammers. Ready for the hammer to come back around, Astrid stays low and gently taps on Gwen's back with her seemingly weightless, icy war hammer. Nothing to hurt her, just taunt her.
"Hammers are me favorite kinda weapon," she says with a wicked grin. "Tools and weapons both. They're amazin'! I can beat a piece o' metal into shape or a few nasty guards in the shins."
By this point, Spicy Pawsage has jumped into action, letting out a not-so-dog-like roar and spewing a gout of flame at the other two hounds to chase them off. His tusks aimed to gore, he barks viciously at the recovering guards, a canine taunt of his own.

"You little shit, I'll kill you for that!" Her face steamed red with anger and embarrassment as she overshot and twirled slightly, before turning her head to meet the childs. Cheeky brat, so she's got a few tricks up her sleeve, She'd never let an actual child be a match for her. Though there were several questions in the back of her mind, overwritten largely by anger and indignation. What job did a child have to do here on the docks? Why did that dog shaped blob sound like a demon and spit flame. Why were her own guard dogs cowards. This situation had gotten out of hand fast. The fire growing on the dock should be obvious, but Gwen wasn't going to take any chances. She lifted Redolence high into the air, activating its indwelling torch. Embers flared from the slots in the head of the maul as it came alight, not necessarily brightly, but enough that if the watch in the captain's office was actually paying attention, he would send help. Embarrassing, but she couldn't risk a small demon let loose on the settlers, bad for morale.
"You won't get the better of Gwendolyn Mystwud, you'll get the worst!"
She brought the embered maul down where the girl was standing. Her style was clumsy, not having fought any significant foes since leaving her family estate. Unfortunate, she had talked a big game so far, so it was time to put her maul where her mouth was.

This woman's cockiness honestly kind of entertained Astrid. And oh man... "Yer hammer's pretty cool!" she exclaims. It's genuine adoration. "Yer fire, and I'm ice!" The maul comes down, and Astrid holds her arm up for it to crash against her gauntlet. Does it hurt? Yes, and the fire licks out against her, mixing with the fire of her own gauntlets. With her Bull's Strength, Astrid keeps the hammer from crashing down against her head. Honestly, she uses this moment to get a better look at it. "Oh yeah, this is real neat! I've got me own neat tricks."
The half-dwarf reaches out and touches Gwen's cuirass with her war hammer and casts Charged Object through it. With the electricity coursing through, Astrid pushes the maul away and jumps back out of Gwen's reach. "Welp, this has been fun, but I gotta wreck a few boats! See ya! Come on, Spicy!" With that, the kid gives a playful look to the recoiling guards then books it across the docks with her hellhound at her heels.
She wants to make sure she doesn't bust up any boats that don't belong to the problem companies, so she looks for the cargo with the right branding and decides to target the ships with those crates being loaded up on them. However, the guards have definitely noticed her at this point. Clicking her heels together, two metal blades pop out the bottom and coat the ground below in ice, giving her a lot of additional mobility and speed with fewer steps.
Gauntlet - 1 hit prevention
Charged Object - By touching an item or object, you cause it to become charged with electrical energy. Anyone who touches this item will feel an incredibly strong shock, able to numb and disarm the limb that touched the object. If anyone touches the object they will take damage and be forced to let it go or take it off -Deals lightning damage-

Any sense of superiority on Gwendolyn's face dropped as the kid caught the full might of her Enlightened Redolence with an arm, only to admire its craftsmanship. She pushed its weight to the side after merely tapping Gwen's armor. She had but a moment to look down at the taunt before the electricity pulsed through her armor. Her entire body convulsed for a few seconds as several thousand volts coursed through her. Gwendolyn took a step back out of shock, as her footprint on the cobblestone smoked from the freshly channeled lightning. Shaking her head and catching her body on a knee, she took a moment to find the child, now weaving in and out of several guards and dockworkers.
"Be warned!" Gwen shouted out to the guards, quickly running out of breath "That girl is an electromancer! She aims to destroy the boats!" The bell atop the guards office rang out, three times a toll. Three officers wielding spears each attempted to cut off the child and tackle her to little avail. Several dock workers and meandering civilians began evacuating the boats rapidly, not wanting to get in the way of the tiny terrorist. Where in the Ashland was this girls' parents?!

Guards with spears used to pose a huge problem for Astrid. She distinctly remembers her first encounter with a couple of spear-wielding bandits that nearly put her eyes out. It's been a long time since then. Channeling magic through her hammer, she wreaths herself in electricity to protect her. Her Diplopia Armor makes her difficult to target, but the lightning is a great backup, she feels. Narrowly dodging the spears and skating along, Spicy Pawsage follows at her heels. Of course, she doesn't want her pup to get speared, so she whips around, still soaring backward on the skates, and flings her war hammer at the guards with spears. It strikes one and scatters the others, giving the hound enough space to keep up with her.
Chaos unfolds on the docks, and Astrid, in her own cockiness, doesn't turn around soon enough to avoid a very obvious crate in her path. She slams into it, tumbling over on her back and rolling across the ground. Pushing herself up with a groan, she looks up to see some guards trying to take advantage of her situation. Well, that's not good. She summons her hammer back into her hand and gets to her feet as quickly as she can. A guard with a sword strikes out at her, only to swing through an afterimage from her armor. A narrow miss. This could be bad.

Back on her feet, Gwendolyn hefts her maul and jogs towards the blur of bodies further up the dock. Pushing past evacuating sailors and colonists and getting closer, It becomes apparent that they finally had the little devil on the back-foot. Her confidence changes, noting the difficulty of which the guards were having in even trying to hit her. Wait, was that a sword? Hells, she wanted the kid gone but not dead. A conk with a hammer was at least treatable without going to the guild for a healer. "Back off you animals, we want her alive, not in pieces. Two of you, Cut her off from the other side of the dock!""But mistress, ai'nt tha where the lamp oil barrels are? Boss said no fightin round there." A dumbfounded look preceded the slap by only seconds as she struck the foolish guard. Did they just pick these guys up from the side of the road and hand them arms? "You idiot, don't question me and move!". There were about nine barrels meant for the expeditions colonization efforts, to tide them over until it could be made from the colony itself. Necessary, but incredibly dangerous were a stray spark to go near them. As two of the guards went running, the two that remained worked to keep the girl at a disadvantage. Gwendolyn took the moment to find a solution for the frustratingly hard to see girl. Looking around, She saw a cargo net prepared on the dock for the crate that the child had apparently recently ran into. It would seem, in the dockworkers haste, putting stuff down wherever was preferable to dealing with whatever maelstrom of chaos this kid had turned out to be.

Back on her feet and dodging another strike, Astrid hears Gwen shouting something about not wanting her in pieces. "As if ya could chop me into little pieces!" she taunts, dodging another stab. This time she smacks the guard's hand with her battle hammer, forcing him to drop the sword. Then she muscles past, leaving anyone she touches electrocuted by the lightning surrounding her. Several men convulse as the electricity courses through them, feeling surprisingly toasty in the cold weather. This makes others hesitant to get in her way and simply just... let her go despite how easily they could just reach out and grab her. No one dares after the first three men attempt and fail miserably.
When Gwen catches up, one of them looks at her with an apologetic expression. "S-Sorry, ma'am.... She's just... It looks like it hurts," he says, pointing towards one of the shocked fellows with smoking hair.
Meanwhile, Astrid's made a break for one of the ships with a bunch of cargo with the same logo. "Everybody off!" she shouts loudly and as commanding as a twelve-year-old possibly can. Some of the sailors still remaining on board look confused about a kid and her dog rushing on board covered with little arcs of lightning. Is this the source of the commotion on the docks? Several guards pursue her along the docks and haven't quite caught up.
When no one moves, Astrid looks exasperated. "I saaaaaid, everybody off! I'm not tryna hurt no one who don't deserve it!" Releasing her war hammer, it drops hard enough on deck that the wood splinters beneath the sudden weight of its heavy head. A few sailors look at the guards then at her then at the guards shouting again as the run on deck. With her hands free and fire still swirling around her Spitfire Gauntlets, Astrid pulls her fist back and unloads on the deck itself. Flaming fists strike the deck, and with her strength, she quickly wears a hole into it. The scorched boards catch the flames, and it slowly starts to spread. When she stands upright again to collect her hammers, she sees sailors still hanging out watching the chaos unfold, frozen in their bewilderment.
"What? Are ya deaf??"

Several frightened sailors push past her as she approaches the boat. "Cowards! All of you! A little shock is gonna prevent you from stopping a girl?!" She exclaims to those running away. One unfortunate enough to trip and be caught by Gwendolyn is brought to up to eye level with her.
"Please ma'am! She's set the deck alight! Let me free!" the sailor cries, hands together pleading with the woman. She throws him behind her, teeth gritted in anger. This kid thinks she's untouchable huh? We'll see about that wont we. She rips a cargo net from a hook on the dock, and drags it up the gang plank with her. An orange blob with thick black plumes danced hazily in her vision, presumably the fire. Shit, it's spreading faster than she thought it would. Where is that slippery little midget...There! The kids form danced in her vision, the blurring effects disorienting and making her seem just like a really wide version of herself, at least from a distance. Spiking the hammer into the deck of the boat, impaling the shaft so it stood independent, she braced her footing. With a mighty heft, Gwendolyn tossed out the net and attempted to ensnare the slippery child. It was a long shot, but if noone could touch her without the shock, that would have to do for now.
"You mangy Cur, you've done it now. You're getting in the way of progress, I'll have you in chains and shipped to the colonies with them!"
