When Gwen stomps up the deck, Astrid turns around to look at her. The maul lands heavily beside Gwen, and the net catches Astrid's eyes. Well, that can't be good. Unfortunately, sharp maneuvers with the skates are difficult, especially when the flames melt the ice the skates magically create. So, in her attempt to dodge, Astrid doesn't slide to the side like she expects. Instead, the metal skate catches the wood, and she trips. The net lands over her, tangling in her armor and on her horns.
With a heavy thud, Astrid plunks on the deck hard and writhes. This only gets her more wrapped up. The fire is also... quite close. She's got to get out of here. Spicy Pawsage barks and tries to tear at the net with his teeth but ends up just tugging Astrid along. This is definitely not good.
The girl manages to click her boots together to remove the skates from the equation. As armed as she is, the ice skates are the only blades she has on her person, however, they're not sharp enough to cut through the net. At this point, her only option is to burn through it with her flaming gauntlets, but she can't even do that! The net is damp and won't catch!
"Oi!" she shouts in a panic, trying to push the net off of herself and be methodical, though she doesn't exactly have the time or mental capacity to do that with the fire spreading toward her so quickly. "Ya want ta burn me alive like this??"

Shit. The kid annoyed her, but a nagging in her conscious would'nt let her abandon a kid like this. It was a cruel fate, and at the end of all things, she did not want the Fey imposter Alvina to hold it over her head. Stepping forward, she approached the netted girl and her dog with open hands, trying to disarm the dog currently trying to protect its master.
"Pipe down, i'm gonna get you outta here. I'm not a monster. Just make sure he doesn't bite me"
Gwendolyn grabs the entangled delinquent and attempts to lift her off the boat. Despite great effort, something in the net proved too heavy to lift outright, so dragging it was. A few bumps and scrapes got the both of them down the gangplank as she strained against the weight of the heavily armed and armoured child. "Ginma's Grace child, are you lugging around a yak in your pocket?!"
With a grunt, Gwen hefts the net onto the dock, and untangles the child until it's loose enough to undo by herself. Finally, it seemed like this headache of a situation had come to it's conclusion. Sure, a boat was currently burning down behind her, but something felt like it was missing...
"Shit! My maul! Don't do anything stupid kid, I'll be right back" She shouts, dashing back up the plank onto the inferno of a ship.

Well, this certainly took a turn Astrid didn't expect. She manages to get Spicy Pawsage to back off so Gwen can help her, but she ends up just being dragged. Yeah, definitely unexpected. Each little groove in the gangplank hits Astrid's hip uncomfortably, and she can't exactly do anything to make herself any lighter at this moment.
"It ain't a yak," she grimaces as another notch catches her. "It's me hammer. Ya saw yer goons tryna lift it, didn't ya?"
Finally, they're at the bottom, and Gwen untangles her. Astrid pulls the last of the net off herself and gets up. Okay, maybe this lady ain't so bad. Several guards are waiting on the dock, trying to figure out how to keep this fire from spreading to the wooden docks and other nearby ships, and they look cautiously between Gwen and Astrid, wondering if they should try to reprimand the girl that their commander just released despite being safe again. It's a confusing situation. None of them want to test the tiny warrior or her growling hound.
The fire on the boat begins to spread, and Gwen remembers her maul. "Eh?! Wait, ya can't run up on the ship when it's burnin' like that!" Astrid shouts, but the woman isn't listening. To be fair, Astrid gets it, she'd rush into danger to retrieve her hammers too. But to run up there when the deck is burning like that?! She could fall! "At least let me help with that!" But Gwen's gone Astrid leaves her war hammer on the deck and takes one step on the gangplank, but the top leaning against the ship has already caught fire.
Instead, she unfurls a pair of wings that are feathered along the arms but breaching out from beneath are long fingers webbed with a black leathery material. She flies up toward the deck where thick smoke billows and makes it difficult to see. The maul wasn't placed too far from the rail, but where is that woman?? Astrid bangs her battle hammer against her buckler, the clanging ringing out across the docks and reverberating off of things within the smoke.
"Hey, lady! If ya don't come out, I'm comin' fer ya!" With her echolocation, she at least has an idea of where Gwen is if she needs help.

The smoke was thick and putrid. Her veil and the censer at her hip did nothing to shield her sensitive nose to the soot and ash now burning her nostrils. Each desperate inhalation lit more of her throat on fire as she blindly grasped through the fire. The swirl of flames and smoke made the deck unrecognizable, like some foreign hellscape told only in whispers to scared children. Lost, blind, hands outstretched grasping for something, anything, when a dull greyish shadow whisped by on the periphery of her vision. As though superimposed on the chaotic scene, it danced gaily through the burning wood and supplies of the flaming deck. "Folloooowwww.....Follooowwww.... " the wisp whispered, audible as though it were in her ear, guiding her through the inferno. With little other choice, she followed, eyes narrowed to protect from the soot. Even though her visibility was less than one or two inches at any given time, It was as though she could see this wisp clear as day. Even before her vision had been irreparably damaged, objects were not this pristine. It led her around patches of flame and holes in the deck before coming to a swirling stop about five feet ahead of her. For a moment, she could make out a sickly smile in the mist, before disappearing as her hand reached out to touch it. Blinded once again, and with all her senses returning to her at once, Her hands wrapped around the steel shaft of Enlightened Redolence. Ripping the maul from it's place in the flaming deck, She began to run. Gwendolyns hands burned from the accumulated heat of the maul, but the pain was ignored in favor of survival. After only two meters of a sprint, a raging fire blocked the path to what had been the gangplank, and with renewed vigor she lept. Blind faith carried her through the air towards what she hoped was the docks, as an explosion rocked the boat from within. A lampoil cache presumably, ripped through the deck with a fireball, destroying what was left.

Her eyes peeled and her clanging helping her echolocate Gwen, Astrid notices the armored woman fling herself from the deck in a way that won't make landing a particularly fun experience. She drops her hammer then dives down to grab Gwen. The hammer falls like a boulder and crashes into the dock below, splintering the wood in a small explosion of ice and electricity with the impact. Astrid's fingers find purchase under a lip of Gwen's armor, and despite a small dip from the extra weight, the two of them stay aloft with Astrid's wings pushing air beneath them with powerful strokes.
"Oof! I gotcha!" she grimaces, slowly reducing their lift until Gwen's feet touch the deck below. Astrid lands beside her, tucking her wings under her cape and letting out a breath. Beside them, the gangplank breaks from the flames and collapses into the water. The ship groans under its own weight, a burning beacon of chaos on the docks. Most of the dock workers and guards gave up on trying to save it. They hesitate to approach the two armored, blunt object-wielding women. Spicy Pawsage doesn't hesitate though, and he rushes over to receive pets from his person, though his black fur still bristles at Gwen's proximity.
"Quite the leap of faith ya made there," Astrid says through a laugh. She reaches down and pets her hellhound, giving his side a heavy, affectionate pat before she looks up at Gwen again. "I appreciate ya not just leavin' me up there ta um... Well, barbecue in me own mess." The girl looks off at the rest of the ships that were getting prepared to leave. Her next words come a bit sing-song. "IIII'm not gonna stop me sabotagin' efforts thouuuugh."
At about this time, there's some commotion from the crowd of hesitant guards as someone pushes their way through the front. The particularly muscular man in armor, a cape, and a badge that denotes him as some kind of ranking officer takes a look at the situation, sees that Gwen is just standing there beside the child without apprehending her immediately. "Gwendolyn, what are you doing?! Don't stand around gawking! Be useful! Arrest her!" he barks.
Astrid just looks over at the muscle head and grins, "As if she could!" Then she looks up at Gwen. "Are ya sure ya wanna work with a jerk like that? Ya could have more fun kickin' their butts with me!"

Mother of Lunala the child had wings. And she was pretty sure she had almost died just now, keep it together... Landing back onto the dock she finds a knee and coughs out the soot and smoke from her lungs.
"Y-yeah...Dont mention it" The guards approach as Captain Kareen barks out an arrest order. Shit this was annoying. She wasn't even getting paid for this, it was a publicity job for her family. It was a tempting offer, an opportunity to rebel against her family and have some fun at the expense of this po-dunk establishment.
"Eh, Fuck it. Here kid, catch" She grunted, coming to her feet and tossing over a small hourglass shaped vial retrieved from her belt. Filled with a nondescript grey powder, she cracked open one of her own down the middle and inhaled deeply. Mere moments passed as she could hear Kareen shouting at her, unintelligible as the salts worked their magic. She opened her eyes, vision clear to the horizon. Everything was vibrant and focused, she could see the sweat beading on the captain from twenty feet away. Silently, she wished it were always like this. Her hands screamed in pain as she tightened the grip on the still warm maul, muttering a few soft words as the incense within billowed forth. It spread rapidly along the docks, covering the advancing militia and even a nearby boat in a thick soupy fog of intense scents. Blinking, she could see through the fog as though it were but a light veil covering her. Several guardsmen stopped in their tracks, turning around and attempting to find their targets, all while bumping into each other.

Well, that was easy. After the scuffle earlier, Astrid thought it might take more than simply just asking this woman to switch sides, but with the guard captain yelling at her the way he is, it's definitely understandable. Astrid looks up at Gwen just as a tiny vial gets tossed to her. The girl catches it and watches the other warrior woman open hers. Either this is a ploy to take her out or it's fine. Astrid shrugs and opens hers, the smell striking her senses like an incense maul. Suddenly, the world seems to open up before her. No longer is her vision impeded by the billowing smoke from the burning ship. The guards are approaching them both.
"Whoa," Astrid breathes, blinking through this new vision. Holding her hand out behind her, Astrid summons her war hammer from the crater in the dock then takes out her battle hammer. "I'm Astrid, by the way. Astrid Stormstone!"
Gwen grips her maul, gearing up for a fight. She seems to scoff her words with some undertone of amusement. "Lady Gwendolyn, of the Mystwuds," she says.
Astrid's grin doesn't falter. A noblewoman warrior! "Well, Miss Lady Gwendolyn of the Mystwuds," she begins with a playfully haughty tone, "I don't think these guys stand a chance against us!"
Through the smoke, the guards can't see to know that Gwen is taking up arms against what should be her allies. They don't stand a chance. Astrid and Gwen charge forward into the approaching company, two hammer-wielding warrior women fighting with the ferocity of the fires spreading around them. The guards never know what hit them. With great speed, the entire group is taken down by silent fury and a laughing child.
Soon after the guards, so too fall other ships belonging to the colonizing company. A hail of wooden splinters rains through the smoke billowing through the shipyard, blown by the cold Frost Gale winds. In no time at all, the entire wharf is engulfed - a job well done.
Glad things took a different turn than she expected, Astrid bids Gwen farewell. "Well, that was fun! If ya get into too much trouble, ya can just tell 'em I did some mind control or somethin'," she jokes, tapping her red horns. "Maybe next time we meet, we'll start on the same side!"
Gwen looks down at the sassy, not-so-lost child and rests her maul across her shoulder. Poorly hidden behind her veil, her lip purses in a childish pout as her eyes turn away. "Don't think this makes us friends or anything," she says. Then her eyes cut back to Astrid. "But... Thanks."
"Well, the offer's on the table if ya ever wanna take it up!" Astrid's wings flare out again. It's time to get going before someone catches her. "See ya! Come on, Spicy!" Then she takes off into the air, flying above the hellhound and getting the heck out of there, leaving Gwen to deal with things in her own way. She's sure they'll cross paths again one day.
