The Witch was looking around when Zarius spoke of Shaa. There were a few more familiar faces around there. There was Veliky, of course, who she already tried to send a Message to and had the quarterling nearly drown for it. Of course there was Caedes, who she would probably want to, at the very least, acknowledge later. She had seen Vasilia, of course, and Gabriel too. And then there was Vakker, the devil from the ball - Bellighul mentioned knowing him, so it was only natural for her to feel curious about the satyr. Kamille glanced over to Zarius, giving him a eye signal towards Vakker.
"What about the devil from the ball? Do you know him? I met him only briefly... Looks like an interesting person."
The comment about Lloyd made her snicker softly.
"Some bumps along the way, but nothing we couldn’t handle with a couple potions and bandages. Bellighul got the worst of it, and it didn’t come nearly as bad as your arm. Don’t take it out on Lloyd, he's a curious researcher, doing what researchers do best. Some of us have a special place in our hearts for monsters."
The curious part was how she included herself on that category of "researchers". It was easy for some people to forget that she was a mage and a scholar, first and foremost. Kamille smiled to Eameia, turning to face her.
"It was my pleasure. My house is always open for friends - anything you may need, I'll do my best to provide."
It may have come across as a bit unerving that she didn’t ask for anything in return yet....
"I would hope to hear more of you, though. Whenever there's the chance we could have tea, it would be my pleasure to receive you at my house, or anywhere really. I do want to hear all these embarrassing stories you might have of Zarius.... By the way.... Is it just the two of you? Do you have any other siblings? I've always wondered what it is like to have brothers and sisters. I take it you worry about your brother, and not without reason. We can’t avoid them going out in the world and seeking danger when its in their nature. We can only help prepare them and handle the consequences."
Despite Kamille speaking the whole time directly to Eameia, it was clear for Zarius she was hinting at something else.

Zarius follows Kamille’s line of sight to the steaming satyr.
“Oh, Vakker. He is an advisor to folks in Sol City. Seems like the type to keep out of the public eye while whispering in the ears of those too foolish to make sound decisions on their own.”
Kamille could probably understand a lot from that information. She was within the Court at one point herself after all. Vakker certainly was not someone you would want to be on the bad side of, either as an enemy or a client. He struck Zarius as the type to not hesitate to turn to sabotage and subterfuge if he decided it was necessary.
“Some of us have a special place in our hearts for monsters.”
Something about that line bothered him. It wasn’t jealousy. Kamille was a very beautiful woman, but Zarius saw her only as a business partner. It wasn’t worry for her safety either. The Witch of Moonglade hardly needed anyone to protect her. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but the words had put him on edge.
Eameia smiles at Kamille. The two certainly seemed like birds of a feather.
“We have a younger brother. And our parents of course.”
Zarius shoots his sister a bit of a look. As far as he knew, Kamille didn’t know everything about him and his family. While he wanted to trust the mage, they were still wary of one another and hadn’t really seen what each other were capable of. There was a trust that was still being built between them.
Eameia doesn’t seem concerned though. It was if she knew something he didn’t. Which wasn’t unusual. His sister was much smarter than he was and she had plenty of strange magic at her fingertips. Perhaps she had put some pieces together and was keeping it to herself just to tease him. It wouldn’t be the first time.
"To be fair, both me and my brother here were quite the troublemakers back home. I was not about to let him have all the fun by his lonesome. He has such a hard time making new friends you know. It is comforting to see that he has made so many during his travels as of late, though I will say you are the first one he has introduced me to formally."
"We are in a public bath. There is hardly a formal meeting."
"Shhhh, us ladies are talking."
Zarius gives his sister the most unimpressed look ever.

The comment on Vakker seemed to make her thoughtful for a moment. She knew very little of the satyr, but that was enough information for her to regard him with care from now on - not only that, but knowing he was a friend of Bellighul, even more... Kamille wasn't sure Zarius had that piece of information, and hoped he didn't. The tiefling didn't need any more reasons to hate the Necromancer, and she wanted so hard to have them tolerate each other already...
Kamille opened up in a small sideways smile when Eameia talked about the family - it was hard to say she was surprised, but she was certainly pleased to hear more about it.
"You know, if you hadn't said that, I wouldn't have guessed it myself... The troublemakers part, maybe, but I'd rather not dwell on that.... But I mean, the part about making new friends... Your brother is such a charming, handsome young man... And look at all the people who care about him. Me, Veliky, Caedes... I feel honored to be the first one introduced to you, really. "
To be fair, she truly had no idea on leg stood his relationship to Veliky, but she threw it out there on the same breath - maybe she could even get more than she asked for. Eameia seemed to be fairly upfront, which contrasted imensely with Zarius. This was more her own style, really. To be upfront about the things you wanted to be....
"I will say this, and I hope you don't take this as an offense....... But he does look the overprotective type, if you know what I mean."
Kamille shot a glance full of meaning to Eameia. Certainly she knew what Kamille meant, being a mage too, and not only that, but Exalted in the Space domain on top of it. But the Witch quickly amended:
"I won't take away his reasons, let me be clear. I find its........ thoughtful."
At this point, both Eameia and Kamille seemed to be talking about Zarius as if he wasn't present and between them both. Certainly, to leave those two woman alone in a room, unsupervised, could lead to a multilayered disaster.

Zarius props his elbow up on the rim of the pool while the two mages converse. He didn’t mind really. It gave him some time to think about a few things, including the situation with Bellighul. Kamille was clearly enamored with the creep, and to give the undead bastard some credit, he didn’t kill anyone at the ball. It also seemed that Kamille was still eager to keep their business relationship on good terms despite the two mens’ dislike for one another. He wasn’t particularly keen on playing nice with the man, but perhaps they could find some common ground somewhere.
“Oh, do not misunderstand. My brother is plenty social. He just has a hard time trusting people. I am sure you can relate.”
It wasn’t clear if Eameia was referring to something specific or not. The sentiment was vague enough to mean anything really.
“He is,” she nods at the comment of Zarius’ overprotectiveness. “Unfortunately, such caution is necessary. So many dishonest people in the world who are just looking to take advantage of others for their own gain.”
She seemed to be insinuating something as her eyes narrow at the witch despite the friendly smile never faltering. She clearly suspected Kamille of having already given her reason to mistrust the witch. How much did the tiefling actually know was uncertain, but she wasn’t about to let Kamille underestimate her. They were in the same business of gathering information and using it to their advantage after all.
Zarius keeps an eye on the two of them and listens to their conversation closely. As tempted as he was to interrupt and keep Eameia from throwing accusations at Kamille, he knew very well that the witch had toyed with his trust a fair amount already. If the two of them could get along, then it might help mitigate some of that in the future.
"Did my brother ever tell you about our homeland?" She suddenly asks and Zarius shoots her a bit of a look which she ignores, keeping her golden eyes locked on Kamille in case she gives even the slightest twitch in response to the question.

"Of course, I understand that."
Either the insinuation slipped right over her head entirely, or she just picked it up without missing a beat, because Eameia barely finished speaking and Kamille was already tailing the thought.
"...And in the end, it's the ones that most need it that end up paying the price, don't you think? For instance, for the past years, I have made myself readily available at Moonveil forest for those who would seek me. Sadly, that might be about to change. Some...... weird folks have been happening at my door nowadays, which could warrant some sort of....... precautions."
Which was news, so far. Kamille's whole deal was to be, like she said herself, "readily available" for anyone who would happen across her path. Something might have happened for her to want to change that... If Zarius knew of the banditry activity around Moonglade, it was easy enough to connect the dots. It might've been harder to assume the bandits had actually been trying to strike a deal with her - which ended horribly for them, as far as everyone knew.
But then again, as much as she could speak in a roundabout fashion, the Witch was also good at diverting people's attention.
When Eameia mentioned their homeland, Kamille's eyes shone in antecipation - already hoping that the mention would be followed by the whole story. She leaned closer, happy to hear so much about both Zarius and Eameia, who she just met.
"He did not! He speaks very little to me, actually... Which I won't hold against him, I know, I get it. But do tell!"

Eameia gives Zarius a bit of a concerned look. "I am sorry to hear that."
"Gerhart and I ran into a Lunar Rebel during a delivery job for the Fighter's Guild and the Clasp has been quite active as of late. Has something else happened in Moonglade? " Zarius asks.
Surely there was nothing the witch couldn't handle on her chosen home soil. She had her magic, her minions, and evidently she had many friends she could call upon to help should there be any trouble she couldn't handle on her own. Hearing that she was thinking of turning people away from her home definitely raised some concerns.
"To be fair, we have had few instances to speak without other distractions." He points out to the witch.
Their past few conversations have been strictly business or...well...complicated. He has found it challenging to trust Kamille since his discovery of her transgression against Caedes and her infatuation with the Lord of Ghouls. He would be lying to say that he didn't question her value to his work. He decided to give her a chance to prove she was still valuable as an ally rather than an threat that needed to be removed.
Eameia crosses her legs and leans forward, props an elbow up on her knee and rests her chin in her hand.
"Certainly you know we hail from Zeinav. Many of our kind are from those arid lands. Quite the contrast to the fertile soil of Moonglade from what I have heard of that region. You mentioned having amongst the sands before, what do you think of it?"

For a moment, Kamille dropped the act. Zarius had seen it before, when she left the smiles and mischief to speak of subjects she considered serious, letting the gift of Ginma shine through her stern and firm look.
"The activity has been.... worrying, to say the least. Twice already they had come to my house. First, they arrived trying to parley. The second time they already came launching an attack. I'll have to give it a thought and cast some kind of diverting or protecting spell around it, sooner rather than later. Something that will not be easily dispelled, but it needs to have some kind of way through it. You know, for a few chosen people to be able to find me."
It was a different smile the one she offered Eameia and Zarius, free of the debauchery and mischief she usually carried. Even if she was in the process of raising wards and protecting herself, she still thought of ways for the people she cared about to come through. She spoke of these encounters plainly, as if, in the end, all was well and settled.
But that glint of mischief soon came back to her eyes the moment Eameia mentioned Zeinav. Curious for her to want to go that way... Kamille had just spent a couple of months at Zeinav, at the Villa of Lost Souls, with its roses, it books and its Master.
"Each place has it's best atributes, and I learned there is no silk like zeinavian... I spent a few months there, recently. A tiefling gentlemen read my fortune on the market streets."
Kamille chuckled softly at that. The zeinavian streets were known for being littered with charlatans and people after their daily hustle. It was definitely a bad choice of a target for the poor tiefling to have caught the eyes of the Witch of the Moonglade; but her eyes were soft and gentle as she remembered the incident, which could only mean it brought her more delight than headache.
"I don’t recall if Zarius mentioned this... Are you from Zeinav City itself? I loved it... so much chaos, so much color...."

"Well, we all have to do what is necessary to protect ourselves and what we care about. I cannot say that you are wrong to take such measures."
He could understand Kamille's position quite well. He now had a space of his own to protect but also wanted to keep it open for his allies to utilize as a sign of good faith between them. It was difficult to balance openness and caution, especially in someplace as volatile as Darkveil city. He hoped to change that, but those plans were still far from bearing any substantial results.
Moonglade however, had struck him as a much more stable place. Hearing of the issues with the Clasp seemed to indicate something worse was brewing in those tranquil forests and pristine elven cities.
"Next time you are in Zeinav, we should go to one of the silk markets. I so rarely get to go shopping with someone who appreciates fine fabrics." Eameia smiles a bit more genuinely than she had before, seeming to let the tension ebb and turn the conversation to more pleasant topics.
She had so few friends, especially other women her own age. The female tiefling would be lying if she didn't find Kamille a charming and a kindred spirit. Oh the trouble the two could get into if they were to become friends. It was an enticing thought, but she also was sour with the witch for what she could only see as a violation of his trust. While her brother seemed to be working towards forgiving the witch, such a transgression was harder for her to understand.
At the question about where they are from, she gives Kamille a knowing grin. She wouldn't say where they were from aloud. She knew better than that and also she felt very strongly that Kamille knew much more than she was letting on. It was best to deflect the conversation to something more casual without arousing too much suspicion in case any of the others present were eavesdropping.
"No, we do not live within the city, but it is important to us so we try to visit when we can. There is a wonderful outdoor eatery with the best curried goat you will ever have in your entire life. And the flatbreads are the perfect comfort food."
Though Eameia didn't often get to leave the Ash Lands due to her duties at home, there were times she would steal away with her mother to Zeinav City. It was dangerous, but with their magic and disguises they managed to justify it from time to time.
Their mother had long since left behind her home city of Zeinav in order to join their father in Darkveil, but the bustling costal city held a special place in the woman's heart. As kids, they grew up with the Zeinavian culture being ingrained in their day to day lives. Perhaps one day they would be able to more freely practice traditions of their mother's heritage which had to be pushed to the side for their own safety. But that reality was still far off in the future. There were many obstacles to remove first.

Moonglade had been, for the most part, a peaceful place on the surface. That was one of the reasons why she chose to go back there - the other being Moonglade was also the place she was born. From time to time, her father would take her on a trip to the Crescent Isle and through the Lanterns Light Woods. There were some good memories there she cherished and wished to revive, but for the time being she had just been trying to avoid burning down the whole forest.
"I... May be visiting Zeinav more regularly from now on... We should set a place and time to meet, I would love to know your favorite places..."
Kamille wasn't sure how much Zarius knew of Bellighul, but she was almost certain he didn't know he was based at Zeinav by now. It felt as if none of them were willing to give up on all information they had, which was fair - at least on that regard they could understand each other, even if they might have means to come by information on their own... Kamille accepted the diversion without a fuss.
"I'm still getting used to the culinary, I'll be honest... Lots of different spices I'm not used to, but I'm enjoying it very much. Very different from Moonglade or Sol City, I loved it. The elves are a bit on the shy side of seasoning, I always thought... I'm not sure I mentioned it before, but I was actually born at Moonglade, Eclipse City."
Whether it was a genuine act of opening up on her end or a slip up, it was hard to say. It would certainly explain why Moonglade, and not anywhere else after she left Court. As for Zeinav, Kamille looked pretty comfortable around it already, which could truly indicate she had the connections she claimed to have. Her association with Bellighul would be easy to assess from there, since she spent a couple of months studying with him - which wouldn't look odd on and in itself, since they were both mages, both with great resources in matters of books and knowledge.
"From what I understand, I assume you don't get out much, so take your time. I would love to have your company around the city anytime. And whenever you feel like visiting Moonglade or Sol City, I know a lot of places around there too...."

"Oh?" Eameia's eyes glimmer and a coy smile spreads across her face. "Visiting a certain someone perhaps?"
Zarius rolls his eyes and shakes his head. Of course the conversation would loop back around to the necromancer. He was half expecting the necromancer to show up at the hot springs himself at this rate. That certainly would ruin any attempt to relax. He folds his arms in indignation.
"I doubt Lady Kamille wants to talk about her personal life, sister."
The young mage gives him a smug smile before sinking down in the water to her shoulders and sliding on over to sit next to Kamille.
"Hmm, but it is a chance to gush about a handsome man and tease you at the same time."
He narrows his eyes. Even if Kamille knew she was just a projection, others may have not figured it out yet.
"Stop."
"You can not make me." She sticks her tongue out.
The brawler sighs exasperated. "You are such a child."
The female tiefling snickers and smiles at Kamille.
"A date it is then," she winks at the witch. "You are more than welcome to bring your friend as well."
"Eameia."
The two tieflings get locked in a stare down for a moment before Eameia raises a hand and makes a few gestures. Zarius watches her hands closely before frowning. After a moment, he reluctantly nods and seems to back off as her attention turns back to Kamille.
"As I said, the invitation is open. You and your friend are both of the Mage's Guild, I am certain I could learn a great deal from you both."
In truth, Eameia had her own suspicions about the Lord of Ghoul which she wished to confirm. There was something about her brother's description of the man that seemed...vaguely familiar. It would be important to know exactly what Bellighul's goals were if only to ensure they did not step on each other's toes. Though her brother may have already gotten them on the necromancer's bad side.

Kamille smiled at Eameia and Zarius. It was beyond her to understand their bond, but she envied it nonetheless. It was no wonder Zarius was so protective of his family, at least that Kamille could understand. The Witch nurtured several, surface level relationships throughout her journey, and while she really, truly wanted to attribute more meaning to them as to just "business relationship", it still hovered over her head the fact the two most important connections she had had were probably burned to the ground. Her former lover was out of her life - that bridge she was completely burned to the ground. But how was a daughter expected to abandon her father?
She snapped back to reality when Eameia kept talking about meeting in Zeinav, clearly indicating she wanted to meet someone else too. Kamille squinted her eyes at the gesture Eameia did to her brother, glancing around briefly, wondering if Poe caught that.
"We'll have to see how it goes, but I will love to. And don’t worry, I don’t mind talking about myself. There isn’t much to know about me that is not already out there. But now that you mentioned, it made me wonder.... Don’t you have any interest in joining the Mage's Guild? Surely it would make for family dinners quite interesting, given the guilds rivalry..."
Not that they needed any more reason to bicker, she chuckled at that. She propped her elbow against the edge of the pit, her chin resting on her hand.
"Such a shame that us mages tend to be a scattered lot. Such egos. I always saw strength in joined forced. Much more can be accomplished in union, but it feels very much like herding cats to put mages and fighters on the same page..."
Once again, she toyed with the notion of a unified entity.... but to what end? Despite her constant actions against the common banditry at Moonglade and her climb through the knowledge of the domains of magic, everything else looked rather.... erratic and random. Maybe she was really just making stuff up as she went, which wouldn’t be much of a problem if she hadn’t grown so powerful as people claimed her to be.
"I would be more than glad to help in smoothing your way if you have any interest in the guild."
She didn’t believe Eameia had such interest, though, so her sales pitch was visibly half-hearted.

Eameia's eyes light up with interest. "I would love to join the Mage's Guild, but...I am afraid my duties at home leave me with little free time. Maybe one day."
There's a bit of melancholy in the tiefling's voice. Zarius looks at his sister then leans his head back on the edge of the pool of water.
“What exactly do you want to accomplish from such an alliance?” Eameia asks after a moment. “Do you have some vision for the future you would need such a force for?”
“Probably best to save a sensitive conversation like that for a less public place, sister.”
“Ah, yes, my apologies, Lady Kamille. I suppose that gives us another reason to meet up another time. I certainly would like to-”
The astral projection flickers then blinks out suddenly as the spell comes to an end. Zarius frowns and a bit of worry crosses his face, though this wouldn’t be that unusual for Eameia to be pulled from her spell by something else demanding her attention back home.
He looks at Kamille. “I apologize for that, something must have come up.”
Across the way, Eirynor has taken note of Eameia’s disappearance and is already up and out of the pool he was relaxing in, headed for the change rooms. Zarius stays put though, he can’t travel any faster than the half-elf, so there was little point in rushing home when it likely is nothing to worry about.
"Do let me know if there is anything I can help with," he says. "I still am interested in working together on future ventures even if that means having to...practice more tolerance of certain individuals."

It was evident that Eameia had interest in the Mage's Guild - curiously, "dutiful" wasn’t a word that would be on her mind when describing Zarius' sister at first, but maybe she was wrong about the tiefling. Or maybe she wasn’t entirely free to make her own decisions, which she understood could happen when belonging to an important family. More things and more people were at stake in that situations - no wonder Zarius was the way he was.
Contrary to Zarius' own words, Kamille looked about to answer Eameia's question, but stopped as the tiefling's image started to flicker. There was a hint of surprise in her eyes, likely because of the sudden way she went away, rather than anything else.
"It's okay, I really liked meeting your sister. I hope she gives you enough trouble, as I hear siblings are supposed to."
Kamille jested with a smile upon her lips. Her eyes trailed off to the other people at other pits as he spoke about tolerance.
"I'm glad to hear that. I'll ensure the other end will do the same."
And then, she felt silent. It was a heavy silence, weird and alien for the Witch whose smiles were frequent and easy. Very few times the tiefling had seen that graver side of her, one that spoke to her deeper connection to Ginma - whether she liked it or not. Carefree and chaotic on the outside, there was a strong and solid foundation beneath.
"Benethuil."
She finally spoke, and Zarius could feel a very particular, hard to understand mix of feelings. The name rang a bell.
"If you come across that name, I would like to know it."

“You two are eerily similar. So it should be easy for you to imagine just how much trouble she gives me.”
The silence is oddly tense. Usually that wouldn’t bother the tiefling, he didn’t really care what others thought of him. But he was invested in Kamille’s trust, so her opinions did matter to him. It was frustrating if he was being honest. Relying on others was so much extra work, but he was not so proud to think he could do everything on his own. He knew his limits all too well, and he knew there was strength in numbers.
He looks at the half-elf when she speaks again. Her tone was quite different than it had been for most of their conversation. This must be something quite important to her. The tiefling thinks for a moment before replying.
“Benethuil. I have heard of it. He was the previous Court Wizard. Rumor is that he went mad and retired.”
Surely the witch knew this. She was of the Court previously. She likely knew much more about the situation than the public did. He thinks about if he has heard anything of note recently, but nothing comes to mind.
“I can look into him more. Though I imagine such information is closely guarded by the crown to protect against any slander.”
It wasn't like he didn't have ways of getting such information. It would just be challenging and require a certain level of discretion and care. The Court, despite its dramatic tendencies, was still a government body. Any information about topics the Court would rather have quietly disappear into obscurity tended to be well guarded.
That said, if it was so important to the witch, he would do his best as a show of good faith between them. He wouldn't let his personal disdain for Bellighul get in the way of business. At least, not in obvious ways.

Kamille wondered, not for the first time, how much Zarius knew. They were both on the same business, they both knew the power of information and secrets and were keen on scourring each others past before striking an alliance. The difference was that, while Zarius went about the "tradicional" way, Kamille used her magic. And while the Witch would gladly give away some information about herself without a second thought, there would always be that secret that she would hide close to her heart. It had been her tactic at Court: give them something juicy, so that they won't be too eager to search for something more - so they wouldn’t find out what truly mattered.
It had worked so far.
Now, Kamille was willing to take a leap of faith. Zarius might come across a secret few people knew.
"He was, and then he was imprisioned and escaped. Which just counts towards the reasons the Court wants to keep information on him safely guarded. But I'm more interested in his whereabouts, not his past. He might be using an alias."
It wouldn't be a surprise she wasn’t interested in the man's past, for she probably knew more about it from her time at the Court.
