Post by Eameia (Zarius unavailable) on Oct 31, 2022 10:39:59 GMT -5
Eameia lounges in the water facing away from her brother and attendant as they relax in the steamy springs. While not as sheltered as their youngest sibling, she still did not get to go out as much as her older brother. She had too many duties and responsibilities at home which required her to be able to jump into action at the drop of a hat. While she was happy to do whatever was asked of her by her family, she still longed for a future where she could actually travel freely without the looming threat of the rival Ashen Fathers hanging over her head. One day, she thought.
She studies the faces of those in the pools. Many had caught her eye and piqued her curiosity. There of course was the pale man she had seen her brother with at the Black Harvest Ball; the satyr who had been dressed as a devil who had been hard to miss due to his towering height; a very attractive human man with a muscular frame and chiseled features; and an elven man with wearing a top that appeared a few sizes too small. Her tail twitches with interest in all of them when her gaze meets the eyes of another.
The woman across the pools from her had flawless light luminescent skin and raven black hair. Her eyes were like the most precious of sapphires, a sharp contrast to Eameia's own pupil-less eyes of molten gold. She was stunning and she seemed to be here on her own. How strange, she thought, her tail twitches as she plots.
Zarius notices Eameia's tail and follows her gaze across the steaming pools to where Kamille lounged. Oh gods, here we go. He looks at Eirynor and gets the mute half-elf's attention with a subtle wave. Eirynor looks at him curiously as the tiefling signs a silent message to him. Eirynor narrows his eyes then nods as he sits back and just keeps an eye on the surroundings. Zarius wades over to his sister's projection which glances at him briefly.
"That woman there seems interesting." She comments.
"That is the Witch of Moonglade." Zarius says simply.
Eameia looks at him in surprise. "Really? You really understated how beautiful she is then."
He sighs. "Do you want to meet her?"
"Yes, of course!"
"We are still working on building a business relationship, so please do not say anything unnecessary."
"Have a little faith in me, brother. I just want to thank her for taking pity on my poor brother in his time of need." A smug smile crosses her face as she teases him.
"You are never going to let me live that down, are you?"
"You put your arm in an ooze. There are consequences for being an idiot." She says as she gets up out of the water, the projection not interacting with the liquid at all due to the nature of the spell.
Zarius too gets up and walks across the stone pathway between the pools over to Kamille with Eameia trailing behind him.
"Good day, Lady Kamille. May we join you?" He asks.

Vasilia moved gracefully in the pool as she breathed in the hot misty steam. She felt the warming waters seep into her very bones and reduce the stress she had been under. Working with bandits in the Moonglade had been dangerous and exhilarating, but it didn't go without risk. Luckily there had been no survivors so far, so no one could recognise her. She did wonder one day where they might be unsuccessful and someone might escape to report her to someone who might come after the bandits. That threat remained illusive for now, but it sent a little shudder through her bare spine.
Atleast here there was a relaxing nature to those who also came here to rest in the waters. For the moment Vasilia tries to see who else is in the pool and notices a few faces, but she chooses to keep a low profile. Then her eyes pick up Kamille and she instantly stops her move through the middle of the pool and gently goes to the side pretending like nothing out of the ordinary happened. Was there no where that witch didn't also come? They had already done some wicked deeds together, but if Kamille found out about her most recent deeds that might be a step too far. Vasilia felt a little vulnerable, but tried not to show it.
Then Vasilia saw a tiefling and someone else talking in another pool, although it was hard to make out through the steam. The she-elf now touches the side of the pool and isn't too far from Kamillle. She wondered how best to approach the situation. Could she stealthily get out without them noticing.
Her long elf ears picked up some of the discussion between the pair and then they now get up and walk from the pool over to their pool. Now Vasilia found it impossible to move and it would also be impossible for her not to be noticed. Out of the all the pools, she had to blunder into this one. She tried to avoid eye contact and turned her back to Kamille and the Teiflings about to make conversation.

Post by Lady Kamille Verlithax on Oct 31, 2022 15:59:07 GMT -5
The feeling was familiar: the warm water made the muscles relax, the worries drift away for a brief moment. No wonder the pits were so popular, she thought. Maybe she should arrange to have something like that at her own house, now that she found out how to make space bend well enough to make it possible. It was a good thought for later...
Once again, Kamille was surprized to see a lot of familiar faces lounging about at the pits. There was Gabriel, who she hadn't seen in a long, looooong time. She wondered what the warrior was up to since they last saw each other, hunting lilies and treasures in the marsh. There was also the devil from the ball, and another one she wasn't sure she got the name of, so worried about her hunting for the princess as she was. Caedes and Zarius were there too, and to her delight, Zarius seemed to find his way towards her - and better yet, he was not alone. The tiefling was accompanied by other tiefling that resembled a lot to him. Kamille wondered... Sister? Cousin? Probably sister. Family, certainly. " Zarius! What a wonderful thing seeing you here! Of course you can join, certainly... Will you introduce me to your company?" The Witch's eyes caught a glimpse of someone else familiar to her. Despite the happenings at the ball, Kamille seemed incapable of holding a grudge over some petty dispute over a princess at the ball. If anything, the ball ended better than it started. But Vasilia didn't seem to feel like approaching at the moment, or so it would seem to Kamille, so she wouldn't poke at her. " How are you today? What do you think of the ball? I thought it was a blast, don't you think? Can't wait for the next one..." She offered him one of those genuine smiles that brightened up her eyes, as she gave both Zarius and his sister the space for them to join her in the pool.

Zarius chuckles and steps down into the water next to Kamille. "Of course, this is my sister."
Eameia waves before stepping down into the water without disturbing the water. "Pleasure to meet you, Lady Kamille. My name is Eameia and my brother told me all about you."
Zarius sighs. He wasn't surprised the teasing was starting so soon. "To clarify, I told her about how you helped me and about how capable of an alchemist you are."
"Yes, he was very flattering in his descriptions of your hospitality and skills."
"Stop." He whispers to her.
"My brother is so helpless when it comes to the arcane, I deeply appreciate your assistance. He might have not made it home if it had not been for you and your druid friend. Oh, and the mysteriously handsome white haired man over there." She waves her hand dismissively in Caedes' direction.
Zarius sinks deeper in the water, his skin deepening.
Eameia snickers.
Sitting between the two mages was not usually be something he was keen on but Kamille had proven she had no interest in harming him and Eameia was not actually there to cast spells at him. He doesn’t recognize the other woman across from them, though he wasn’t entirely sure she wasn’t purposefully eavesdropping on the conversation or not. He would keep an eye on her in case she showed any other suspicious behavior.
“We are well. That ball was certainly something.” He comments.
A lot had happened that night, but he was more interested in the long term consequences of what had happened. He had made some new promising contacts, reaffirmed some others, and maybe brought one attendant’s wrath against him to a new level.
Though that did need to be something to discuss with Kamille. Not only had he spotted Kamille and the Lord of Ghouls dancing together outside of the ballroom, they had also left together. At first he had thought that Bellighul intended to do her harm, but how they behaved around each other suggested that night was not their first encounter. It was worrying as he would prefer not to have Kamille as an enemy as well as the violent necromancer.
“I will say that it was a night to remember.”
Eameia’s sighs. “I wish I had been there for longer.”
“You should not have been there at all.” He scolds.
The female tiefling narrows her eyes at him then looks at Kamille with a smile. “What would you say was your favorite moment from that night?”

The pool was shrinking as more bathers joined it.
Vasilia's ears slowly picked up on different parts of the conversation. Who they were...small talk and then some conversation about the ball? Oh the ball...what an interesting episode that was.
“I would say...it was a rather short dance and reunion with a certain princess...wouldn't you say Kamille?” said Vasilia as she slowly turned to face them in the water and locked eyes with Kamille. There a certain playful chiding tone in her voice as she spoke. Vasilia's face was full of amusement and she wondered what Kamille was really thinking? Maybe she wouldn't say anything here, but would she have any inner thoughts?
Vasilia wasn't sure how they would react, but she couldn't help but answer someone else's question here.

Kamille had a feeling she would like Zarius' sister. She smiled at the young woman - she recognized the spell and what was going on, but wouldn't say it. " Your sister! I don't recall you telling me you had a sister... Nice to meet you, Lady Eameia. And no worry, I'm happy I could be of help. I assume you'd have all the embarrassing stories about your brother to share... I hope on keeping doing business with Zarius, but I also would like to think we are... friends, by now." She offered a bow of the head, instead of a handshake. To the mention of being friends with Zarius, she glanced over to him with a smile. It was one of those genuine smiles he'd seen before. After all the ups and downs of the gala event, she really enjoyed all of their company, despite....... everything. The night was truly a rollercoaster. She was about to answer, when a known voice floated over. Kamille didn't look surprised to the woman's interruption, instead offering her a gentle, patient smile in return to her teasing. " There'll be other opportunities for another reunion, I'm sure. Zarius, Eameia, this is my acquaintance, Vasilia. Vasilia, this is Zarius, he's a business partner. And his sister, Eameia." Like a proper lady, she introduced them all when Vasilia made her presence noticed. Once again she turned to Zarius. " Which reminds me... I don't remember you telling me how you met Cantio.... How did that come to pass? And...... What the hell was that on the dancefloor?" Whether it was her intention or not, she was diverting the attention to the question about the ball, taking it back to Zarius. She had the feeling that, after all was said and done, they'd need to reasses a couple of things and talk again to trim the edges of their... business agreement. At least, Kamille respected him enough to be open to that conversation. But she also felt close enough to the tiefling to not let it go without some teasing.
Then, her eyes widened in delight when she noticed who was in the pit next to them, most of them familiar faces... And Caedes was there too. And the devil from the ball, Vakker, someone she just saw really quickly during her chase for the princess, and....
Veliky!
Things were getting interesting in that other pit as well.... For a moment, she stared at the quarterling to deliver her a Message.
Veliky! What is going on there?!?!?!? Tell me everything!!!!

Eameia’s grins mischievously. “Oh, yes. I have so many stories. Some best not suited for such a public space.”
Zarius sighs exasperated. “Lunala spare me.”
“Do not be so dramatic.” She teases and looks across at the other woman. Her eyes narrow in suspicion. “Pleasure to meet you, Miss Vasilia.” Eameia nods to the elf, she wasn’t sure what to think of the woman. Zarius didn’t seem to be familiar with this elf, which put the female tiefling on guard as the conversation turns back to her brother.
“I met Cantio in Sol City at a party actually. He was performing for a noble family.” He didn’t really feel the need to go into details.
While he wasn’t particularly sour with Kamille about that whole situation, she still overstepped quite a bit which put him on edge. Actually, what put him on edge the most was that Kamille had left the event with the necromancer. The two clearly had some significant history.
“That was what happens when an egotistical megalomaniac decides to rudely interrupt a conversation because he thinks he can do whatever he wants without any consequences for his poor choices.”
He doesn’t mince words. That was the second time the Lord of Ghouls had started a fight with the tiefling. Sure, he could have let it slide, but the necromancer seemed to have it out for him and he wasn’t about to let him step all over him.
Kamille would either understand his side of the story or live on in blissful ignorance. If the witch and the walking corpse had a relationship, that was their own business. He just didn’t want Kamille to turn out to be an enemy since he was still indebted to. He wouldn’t put the necromancer past taking advantage of that if the witch had shared that information with him.
He huffs. “That man is a murderous psychopath.”
Eameia smiles a bit apologetically to Kamille. “You will have to forgive my brother. He does not take slights very well.”
“He attacked me in a swamp and threw meat in my face.” Zarius states matter-of-factly.
Eameia tilts her head to the side thoughtfully. “Fair. I would probably have eviscerated him.”
He nods. “True. He got off lucky.”
Eameia giggles.

The she elf's long slender ears kept listening to the discussions of the trio as they covered various topics. Kamille's response was nothing that wasn't expected and now she had an introduction to Zarius and Eameia. Kamille was such a lady, perhaps on the outside, but Vasilia knew that other more wicked side of her. It did seem there was a few other people in myriad of pits around them which were also at the ball, but Vasilia didn't pay them much heed. She didn't let herself get distracted from anything happen in this current pool. The conversation was too interesting she thought as her slender feet came up out of the water and she used what looked like a sponge coral to slowly massage them. The elf was never afraid of showing off some leg.
Vasilia sent a sneaky smile towards Eameia imagining what those stories she was talking about were exactly. The she-elf found the rivalry between Zarius and the Lord of Ghouls quite interesting. From an outsiders perspective, it seemed Zarious was vexed massively by him. That was a tantalising and juicy rivalry, something Kamille couldn't escape. Vasilia thought a living corpse suited her quite well. Perhaps it might be interesting to stoke the fires a little...there was nothing like stirring a pot that was boiling over underneath.
"I did not get the chance to meet the Lord of Ghouls at the ball, but now you have made me aware Zarius I will take careful notice around him when I see him next...no one should be going around attacking people without good cause" said Vasilia with a teasing smile to Kamille.

The teasing seemed to be flying over her head. For once, the Witch was not in the mood to sow chaos, much the opposite, actually. But she did try to contain a sheepish smile when Zarius spoke of Bellighul on such aggressive terms. Truth be said, Bellighul also had some.... strong words about Zarius, let's put it at that. Kamille wondered if it would change something if she told him the Lord of Ghouls was the connection she had to Zeinav, the one she mentioned when they first met. She turned to Vasilia.
"No one should be going around doing so much, but yet, here we are..."
As for Vasilia... She wasn't quite sure what she wanted from that interaction. Maybe it would be worth it, sometime, to dig deeper into the life of the elf that had previously taken a mission with her. But now wasn't the time for it.
Better to start with the information that was, most likely, already common knowledge.
"You must know by now that I joined the Mage's Guild recently. What I don't know if you're aware is that the Lord of Ghouls was part of our group during the retrieval of an ancient artifact on the ruins of Zeinav. It was me, Bellighul and Z'kharta Putok."
There was a part of her, that Zarius knew well, that loved to tease and poke fun at the tiefling. But she was also capable of opening up and being real, almost solemn. There were times when Ginma's gravity shone through her eyes, shedding all that pomp and dramatic flair she had always wrapped around herself. She took in a deep breath, trying to chose the words.
"I spoke to Bellighul. He compromised on acting a bit more... friendly... towards you. And I'd hope you could compromise with the same."
The exact conversation went on more along the lines of "I will try and not murder him", but Zarius could certainly read between the lines. Being all of them members of the Mage's Guild, the association between the Witch of Moonglade and the Lord of Ghouls was understandable.
"I do not condone his actions up until now. But I would hope you both could put this whole ordeal behind us. I appreciate you both greatly."

“Ah. Yes, the Mage’s Guild. They paid the Martial Academy a visit and destroyed the building.” He says flatly.
Needless to say he isn’t very happy with the havoc the Mage’s Guild has endorsed so far. It’s not that he cares deeply about the Fighter’s Guild, it’s more that the attack was so sloppy and destructive that was annoying to him. They could have been way more clever with their brash assault. He wouldn’t hold it against Kamille or even Bellighul as it seemed like the attack had been carried out without their involvement. They still were associates though so they had some responsibility.
“I assume you had no part in that considering you were not there and neither was the necromancer.”
Zarius’ eyes narrow at the witch. Her connections to the necromancer were fairly deep based on her words and her actions. Her honesty about the situation held his attention. She was earnest in her words and clearly wanted the two to reconcile. He grimmaces at the thought. Bellighul had been unreasonable and erratic. He seemed to be the kind of person who would fly off the handle at the slightest thing. His usefulness was questionable, though having him as just a nuisance rather than an enemy would probably be best. Maintaining his relationship with Kamille was far more important and they all likely knew that. He sighs.
“Though I doubt he would be willing, I would at the very least appreciate an apology from the man himself. I appreciate you, Lady Kamille, and I do want us to continue to work together regardless of your…questionable choice of alliances. I am willing to let go of past transgressions. I just have a hard time believing that he will do the same in earnest given his behavior at the ball.”
While this conversation goes on, the female tiefling at Zarius’ side turns her attention to the elf across from them. Eameia crosses her legs, her knees not making even a ripple in the water. Her brother had a handle on the situation with the witch and necromancer and hardly needed her interjections, so she instead decides to make Vasilia the target of her attention.
“So, Miss Vasilia, you were also invited to that event.” She states rather than asks, acknowledging that the few comments from the woman so far have indicated as such. “Though I do not expect you to speak for all of your kind, I would love to hear an elf’s opinion on the attempts to unify the elven races under the pretense of peace.”
Zarius glances at Eameia out of the corner of his eye. His sister had also technically been in attendance against his wishes, but she had dropped her spell before the situation took a turn. While he had informed her of what he observed in the aftermath, the female tiefling couldn’t help but ask for more witness accounts in order to cross check the facts.

Vasilia yawned a little...she was growing weary of the pool...she felt like drying off or maybe getting one of the spa folk to do a mud pack on her face. Her face felt not as soft as before, a little bit of the spa mud might help that.
“Yes...I attended the ball...quite a nice occasion...” she said sounding rather disinterested.
At this point Vasilia wasn't too interested in talking politics...there was too much of that in the world. She smirked and stood up from the waters effortlessly. The air was dense with moisture and she couldn't help other eyes notice her there.
“Peace is an illusion...there will always be someone to come along and shatter it. If you'll excuse me...” she said as she stood up and walked out the pool gracefully.

Vasilia's exit was as swift as her approach. Sometimes Kamille wondered if the things she did were just to elicit some sort of reaction just because, or if there was something more behind it. She shrugged. The elf was out of luck if that was the case - Kamille was known for being calm and slow to anger.
But what she said did make her rethink a couple of things about her partner in crime in previous days. Peace is an illusion? Would that mean she wasn’t in this to contribute to peace? that was a talk for another time....
Kamille turned to Zarius.
"I will assume that my joining the Mage's Guild is somewhat similar to your joining the Fighter's Guild. We're not here to wear their colors, but to expand..."
....expand influence? Contacts? Skills? All of the above, really.
"I can have the incident investigated, if you want. But the mages there don’t feel like they're stupid enough to launch an offensive so openly. What I heard, however, is that there's always someone interested in keeping the rivalry alive..."
Not that their rivalry would miraculously dissappear without some effort. Without some common enemy, even...
As for Bellighul... She didn’t promise he would apologize, but at least some soothing words could be said... from her, because she doubted Bellighul would go as far.
"I can guarantee what happened at the ball won't be happening again."
Kamille spoke with confidence, a small smile on her lips. Whatever sway she had over the Necromancer, she seemed fairly certain of it - maybe Zarius could even interpret it as a sign of naivety. The Witch quickly added.
"And by the description of what happened at the fighting pits, I can assume the other guy may or may not be a friend of mine too. I would very much appreciate if you guys would not try to kill each other."
When Zarius had commented on how well connected she was, perhaps that was not what he had in mind. And the fact the trouble maker, chaos inducing Witch would be vouching for peace among people who had previously tried to murder each other was certainly.... odd.

Eameia’s head tilts and she frowns a bit as Vasilia leaves the pool. She looks at Kamille and Zarius. “I think I may have offended your friend.”
“You did pick a complicated topic to talk about.” He points out.
She sighs and sinks down in the water. “Fair enough.”
Zarius turns his attention back to Kamille.
“I was invited to join the Fighter’s Guild by Mister Shaa. I owe him quite the debt, so this is just an effort to pay off that debt.”
Even if the minotaur didn’t feel the same, Zarius would probably never stop being grateful for his efforts to protect Karize during that attempted kidnapping in Zeinav. The minotaur had turned down a handsome bounty in favor of their friendship. It was a surprising and truly touching gesture given they had only just met that day.
“So you suspect the Mage’s Guild might have been framed?”
That was an interesting thought. If that was the case, he would have to look into it more thoroughly. He couldn’t afford to have Kamille turn against him for any reason. If someone was intentionally trying to pit the two guilds against one another, that simply would not do.
“Well I certainly will be avoiding attending any parties he is also invited to from now on.” He huffs.
It took him forever to get the meat stains out of his costume. He gets an annoyed look on his face when she brings up the mud pits. What an unnecessary show that whole mess was. At least Kamille seemed to have a lot of friends she cared for, perhaps she really could keep them all from ripping each other apart limb by limb.
Eameia looks over at Kamille with a curious glint in her eye. “How did you come to be acquainted with a necromancer from Zeinav in the first place?”

Post by Lady Kamille Verlithax on Nov 10, 2022 7:03:10 GMT -5
Kamille's eyes lit up in recognition of a name. She had heard some stories and had wondered how much of what was said was true.... it wasn’t unheard of for people to grow some stories as they passed it along. Still, her interest was picked. The Witch remembered a drawing Ulrich showed her of the minotaur once, speaking of some adventures with the mighty warrior.
"You mean, Mister Shaa, the minotaur? Could you introduce us someday? That is someone I'd like to know...."
And, as she understood, Shaa had also joined the Fighter's Guild. She wondered if she should be actively working towards bringing both of the guilds together - they could be unstoppable if they did.
If they did....
"'Suspect' is a strong word, but it does seem off. Maybe I should really take a look at it. I wouldn’t put it beyond someone's intentions to keep the guilds fighting each other, least they ally towards a common goal... Can you imagine how great of a force that could be? Mages and fighters together? We could..."
But she left it hanging in the air, stopping abruptly. Maybe she meant to say something important, or just tug at his curiosity, but she left the subject there and turned her eyes to the other pit, where Veliky and the others were.
When Eameia mentioned the Necromancer, she did her best to keep a straight face, but was betrayed by a soft blush that rushed to her cheeks. She answered while still looked away, a smile still faintly perceptible in her voice.
"He came to visit me, hearing the stories. You'd be surprised by the amount of random people that happen at my house."
Certainly, a fair deal of people truly "just happened" across her path - usually unfortunate, hurt adventurers or travelers runing from storms, hoping for a warm bed and food. Kamille was always happy to oblige, as per her reputation. By his own experience, however, Zarius knew that some people would procure her for power, information and influence... Which one Bellighul wanted?
She'd hoped none, but even she couldn’t be sure.
"We just talked, and he left the next morning, when the storm was over. Then I met him again while going about a task for a friend you know very well. Have you spoken recently to Lloyd? Gods, Bellighul was so annoyed for going about the swamp looking for....... ooze. I dragged him all along the swamp and into the fields. He was so out of his element."
The woman seemed kinda proud of herself for having the Necromancer accompany her quest to, ultimately, befriend Lloyd. And maybe it even held testament to the different treatment he reserved to the Witch, feeding into her whimsical needs to make connections and friends, under any weather.

“Yes, he is quite friendly, you will likely get along.” Zarius nods.
He was confident that Shaa could hold his own against the witch if necessary and contrary to some people’s beliefs, the minotaur was very smart.
He tilts his head at Kamille. The woman certainly wanted to just be friends with everyone, didn’t she? Unifying the guilds? A novel thought, but not very likely. Even if you put the attack aside, there were too many big personalities in both organizations who would have a hard time kowtowing to one another.
She didn’t finish her thought though, and that made his eyes narrow. What was she trying to accomplish that she needed the two forces to come together for? Perhaps Kamille’s ambitions were loftier than he originally thought. She seemed like she was just trying to get a frest start and leave the drama of the Court behind. Maybe that was only a small part of why she went into self exile in Moonglade.
His eyes only narrow more as she talks about her first encounter with Bellighul. It wasn’t surprising that she had visitors. She had a certain allure even to those not interested in pursuing her romantically. She was mysterious and powerful, and she was more than willing to let just about anyone into her home.
Eameia takes note of Zarius’ expression and sighs. She wasn’t there so she really couldn’t understand why he was acting like this. But she trusted his judgement despite Kamille’s description which reminds her of the start of some sort of forbidden love story.
When the topic shifts to Lloyd and his ooze research, Zarius just rolls his eyes. “That man sure did lure a lot of people into his deadly research. I hope you were not injured by an ooze on your journey. There are few pains quite like having your flesh dissolved off the bone.”
“We really do appreciate how you aided Zarius in that time, Lady Kamille. It would have been quite the shock to find out that my brother had passed while abroad.”
Eameia wouldn’t mention that she was outraged at the situation Lloyd had put her brother in. She also wouldn’t mention that she had heavily considered delving into the dark tomes within her mother’s library in search of a hex to place upon the researcher as punishment for recklessly endangering her brother's life like that. Her eyes drift off to Caedes once more. She couldn't help but suspect that Kamille saving Zarius might have had more benefits than just the obvious.
