The sun was setting over Lake Calen, causing an orangey red sunburst to cascade over the water, highlighting the various lilies and small sandbars that littered the medium sized lake, several small fishing boats still floating along as they went about their work. The hamlet itself was vibrant and lively now, as the communal meal was being prepared and the townsfolk had begun to set the many long tables under their large community awning they had set up many summers past. All in all it was an idyllic little hamlet that seemed to be full of caring and love, a sight not always seen outside of small scale communities like this.
The thought of a calm before the storm was the only thing that had gone through Gabriel’s head as he looked out onto the scene so to speak of the villagers here. The common folk that lived here were a nice bunch, welcoming and good natured. Their values and morals are always present but not in an oppressive way, which made them a pleasure to be around at least.
He had taken a job to protect the villagers from recent bandit attacks, as they had been ever increasing with their poaching or midnight robberies as of late. The job was simple enough but it still posed a certain danger or real world consequence that made him anxious and unbending, unable to fully loosen up despite the drinks and snacks that the villagers had been plying him with as they prepared the community meal. Others would be joining him soon or were already around that much he was sure, who he would be working with was not of any consequence to him, but it would be enjoyable if it was at least someone he knew or was able to work well with.

Amongst the quaint hamlet, in a half-circle on the outskirts around the lake, sits a small band of colourful and decorative wagons. A small band of merchants had meandered into the little town earlier that morning. A balding halfling had stepped out to speak with the community about housing there for a few evenings; to which many were compliant. Happy to welcome the merchants with open arms.
The people here were kind; they took it upon themselves to warn the newcomers that, although they were welcome, there had been trouble with bandits as of late. Although they had hired a guard or two to help, the possibility that they may not be safe, even within the gentle confines of a sleepy town, arose; but the balding halfling had smiled. It was around then that he would gesture to the odd woman who accompanied him to speak with the villagers; a part halfling, part rabbit centaur with a default scowl and a spear tethered to her back.
"Leni-Aura is our personal guard," he'd tell them in his friendly rumble, "While we are in town, she'd be more than happy to assist as repayment for your kindness."
So, as evening approaches, Leni-Aura finds herself unwittingly employed by the tiny hamlet to assist in their thievery problems. She can't say she minds; she likes the merchants well enough to want to ensure their safety, and the people here have been kind to them thus far... and in a more selfish desire: she has been itching for a fight.
The rabbitaur lingers calmly amongst the outskirts of the townfolk; she's watching the band of merchants mingle— the balding halfling is happily offering up unique herbs from the Moonveil Village for the villagers to use in their communal meal if they so desire— a blonde elven woman is showing a few children how to braid bracelets from the stems of blooming flowers— and a human man is helping to set the long tables as they prepare.
The rest, she thinks, are scattered amongst the villagers, performing tasks and requests.
She leans leisurely on the length of her spear, looking out towards the setting sun when she notices a man who doesn't quite fit in with the celebratory energy of the evening. There's an anxiousness to his stance that she, herself, does not possess in the moment; and she recalls, distantly, the mention of the town's hired guard. He doesn't seem to be a civilian.
She watches him for a moment longer, the idea of introducing herself completely unappealing.
A gentle breeze blows and buffets the half-rabbit woman's hair; gently shuddering tablecloths, and rustling tall grass. A prick of frustration enters her soul; words which are not her own flutter through her mind: a reminder of Avasha's voice taking form in gentle whispers.
She whispers now, doesn't she?
As if in response, Leni-Aura feels the buffet of another gale.
Despite rolling her eyes at the thought, Leni-Aura gives way to her presumed will of the wind; the young woman hops, careful of the civilians, to the stranger on the other side. "You are the townsguard?" she asks as she approaches, her ears tilted towards him. "You seem nervous."

Edward walks around the periphery off the town, watching diligently at the forest with a nervous energy. He keeps getting distracted by the colorful lights and the cheerful celebrations that is happening around the town. He tries to block these distractions out of his mind, but he can’t help but to think about the peacefulness of this town and the liveliness of its people and how it would be all destroyed if he fails to protect them. While he was distracted by his thoughts, he fails to notice a rabbitaur approaching him from the side, “You are the townsguard? You seem nervous.” Edward is startled and looks to the woman at his right side, “Um, not exactly, I’m not hired by the town but I have offered my services for free. And yes, I’m nervous, protecting the village is a heavy task, especially from people who have no moral values.” As soon as he finishes his sentence, he hears the distant galloping of hooves that growing closer and closer. He turns away from the woman to look straight ahead and sees four people on horses rushing towards the celebration. Two of the figures notches an arrow into their bows and fires into the crowd to cause mayhem. Edward notices the arrows coming towards the crowd of people, raises his right hand that glows with golden runes, and a golden wall of light appears in front of the crowd that blocks the arrows.

Life always has a way of balancing any moment as needed whenever the scales are tipped in either direction, towards comfort ort discomfort in any form. In this moment despite the jovial and kind hearted nature of the people who were present as they set up the upcoming communal meal it would be shattered in an instant. All it took was some bandits and arrows followed by the timely intervention of wall of light, to shatter the peace and happiness of a hamlet. One single instance of fearmongering and the world shattered for the simple folk that lived here. Panic and fear taking hold of their hearts as they screeched and scrambled running into their homes, or under tables trying to hide from whatever hell had come for them.
It was in this confusion that Gabriel knew he was in the right and that his strength would be what was needed to see the day prevail for the common folk, hopefully his compatriots like whomever had raised the wall of light would be able to rise to the challenge as well. Dashing forward with a speed only possible from enhanced strength he bounded towards the group of horsemen that were beating down the main road towards the town center. Charging shield first he waited until it was the last possible moment to leap up and tackle one of the bandits to the ground, the resulting tumbling scuffle resulted in the bandit being on his back as Gabriel landed several feet away from him. Looking towards one of the other horsemen he then issued a challenge, "I, Sir Gabriel Davos upon the creed of the Knights of Davos challenge thee to combat!", it was almost like praenomenmancy in a way as his words carried a weight to them that forced the mounted man to challenge him against all better judgment.
Shouting to anyone that could hear him with his booming thunderous voice that held a certain air of command to it he spoke, "Anyone of able body, defend the villagers at all costs!", he rose to his feet as he took a defense stance and got ready to square off with the horseman and potentially the now grounded bandit as well.

Leni-Aura tilts her head, but she is unable to respond when the distant sound of hooves resounds, drawing her attention sharply. She turns to see horses charging towards the celebration; the figures on their backs notching arrows on their bows; it takes her little time to realize that these are bandits. The stranger behind her lifts a wall of light, which blocks the fired arrows from the crowd. Startled yells and screeches rise into the air as the kind, but unlucky, people of the town scramble.
"Get to safety!" she calls, twirling her spear in the palm of her hand. The Rabbitaur slams it into the earth; and lightning erupts from her fingertips, spreading like static cobwebs up her forearms, until it starts to flicker sporadically around the small centaur's figure. (1) She takes off towards the horses, kicking up grass in the wake of her sprint. From in front of her, she sees someone tackle a man from his steed.
They have similar ideas, it seems.
While the guardsman howls for able-bodied men and women to fight, Leni-Aura has locked eyes with another one of the horsemen. He notches an arrow on his bow, firing straight at her; and she does not dodge it. As the arrow enters her field, static erupts from around the rabbit, disrupting the line of fire. The arrow knocks harmlessly away, buffeted by sparks of electricity. She sees a flicker of alarm cross the bandit's face; they start to notch back another arrow when she buries her back paws in the earth, and uses an unusual amount of springing power to jump. (2)
She clears the head of the charging horse with alarming ease; and the Rabbitaur twists about mid-air to slam her paws into the bandit's chest. They practically fly off the horse, skirting through the dust in an ungraceful tumble of limbs. Leni-Aura lands with a stumble in the dust as the horse gallops forth without the rider.
"Your kind has disturbed the people here long enough!" she barks, brandishing her spear as the bandit gathers themselves in the dust.
There is one more horseman, it seems, but they were able to ride past her while she knocked this one away.
(1) Static Field — You cause the air around you to become charged, creating a small bubble of static energy around your person. This aura will protect you from the next two ranged attacks that are thrown your way, be it spells or physical weapons. Once it protects you from two attacks, the field fades. (1 Block Left)
(2) Long Stride — This spell can only be activated and used by the owner of the spell, and cast an enchantment me on them. The next time the owner would jump, they can instead jump three times their normal distance. This allows them to jump over gaps or obstacles, or even scale high walls. This spell only effects the next jump and must be used again to gain the effect an additional time.

Edward shouts, “Be carefull, everyone. Hide and barricade yourselves in your houses. We will take care of these bandits.” He motions to the rabbitaur charging at the horsemen and the knight who’s shouting at the bandits. What an interesting group, he thinks. Edward charges forward as well at the one bandit that galloped pass the rabbitaur, with his veins bulging and his eyes bloodshot as rage fills his mind (Berserkers Rage). The bandit stabs at Edward with his spear but Edward grabs onto the spearhead with his left hand as blood trickles down from the hand wound. Blood red mist drifts from Edward’s back and gathers around the bandit, clinging to him (Blood Feud). Edward jabs at the bandit with his staff in his right hand and manages to push the bandit of his horse. As the bandit comes tumbling down to the ground, Edward swings his staff downward and manages to hit the bandit in the ribs. The bandit gasps in pain as the blood red mist travels into the bandit’s mouth and nose, aggravating the staff wounds he had received. As Edward goes for another strike to the bandit’s chest, an arrow impacts Edward’s back and he tumbles forward as he was caught off balance, interrupting his swing. Edward looks back to see another horseman with a bow galloping around the town square.

The others it seemed had begun doing their jobs adamantly so as they fought against the other horseman and knocked them from their mounts. If things kept pace they would win the day yet!
Cracking his neck and stretching some as he stood up and readied himself with fast footwork that was almost like bouncing from foot to foot he was ready for the bandit that had risen off the ground in anger and rushed towards him spear in hand. His movements were too rage filled and uncoordinated to be effective, as running in a straight line was never the soundest option. Taking liberties with the mans singular point focus, he waited until it was the right moment and side stepped to his left, using his shield to collide into the Bandits spear, knocking him off balance before grabbing the haft and using it to throw the unbalanced man to the ground with force unbecoming a normal person.
Looking down at the man who was seething when winded fury, Gabriel closed his eyes ever so briefly before he stomped on the mans face with his preternatural might, feeling several bones crack under his boot. Sighing at the fact that it had to come to this, he shook his head before breaking the spear in half over his knee and striding towards the mounted archer who was targeting the townsfolk.
Striding towards him with a barely contained fury he probably seemed like an ox to any onlooker who caught sight of him in the moment. His step undisturbed by debris as he pushed it out of his way. The archer took notice of this as well and began pelting him with arrows, that Gabriel only blocked if they came close to his head, otherwise he let them sink into his extremities and more non essential areas of his flesh. For every arrow that was wasted on him was one that wouldn't find its way into a villager.
"Soon it'll be just you and what will you do then?", his words were spoken with a strong conviction as he spat blood onto the ground and continued his stride towards the object of his attention. The horse archer himself was perturbed by the pincushion he was making but also knew that he had distance and mobility on his side and began to circle towards the far left side of the village so as to not allow himself to be ganged up as it were.

Leni-Aura leaps to action; her paws drum against the dirt road as she drops her spear to waist-height and charges the bandit. The bandit steps back, lifting their bow and arrow quickly and firing at her; static erupts from the Rabbitaur once again and ricochets the bolt away from her person. It thrums into the dusty earth instead, warbling from the impact. (1) The bandit steps back, dodging out of her path at the last moment.
The man rolls through the dust into a crouch, and reaches back to grab another arrow from his pack.
Leni-Aura skirts to a halt; dust rises in clouds from around her paws as she whirls on her soles to face the man. He's notching the arrow in his string when Leni-Aura charges again; he fires just as Leni-Aura's spear pierces his chest. "Rrrah!" A sharp pain thrums against her shoulder, but the young woman pushes further against him; he grunts as she lifts her spear, taking the man with it. She flings him over her back; and feels gravity take the man from her spear.
He lands behind her with a heavy thud, coughing and sputtering in the dust.
A short chorus of screams takes her attention from him, and she turns to see one more bandit on horseback firing arrows into a man with a shield. She frowns, looking back at her bandit with a scowl, "If you survive," she warns as he coughs blood into the dust, "Remember this moment." With that, she grabs the bandit's bow and plucks one of the arrows from where it had stuck into the dirt. She charges forwards, circling left in hopes of cutting off the rider or coralling him towards the other guards.
While she runs, she notches back the arrow in the bandit's bow— squinting as she lines up the shot— and fires at the horseman. The arrow thrums non-mortally into the side of his shoulder, and she sees him grunt. He takes a moment to rip the arrow from his shoulder, but doesn't seem too thrown off by it; the action does catch his attention, and Leni-Aura meets the bandit's scowling gaze.
