Zak frowned as Lord Sarne admitted that there were virtually no leads to assist them in their hunt. If they didn’t have a place to begin, they had quite a task ahead of them. They’d have to hit the streets for whatever tidbits they could collect.
As Zak was contemplating their frustrating position, Sarris popped back in through the window. Did she ever use a door? Zak wondered with a smirk. He grabbed the apple Sarris laid in front of him, and brought it to his lips. At her mention of poison his hand stilled. “Snake poison, eh?” he asked, placing the apple back on the table uneaten. “This apothecary, the Silver Fang, sounds like a good place to start.”
Zak grinned at Sarris, picking up the apple again. “I assume I’m safe from poison here, eh?” he asked, taking a big bite.

Looking over back as Sarris gracefully entered the room from the window. Sarne gave a smile as Sarris made her comment. "No, she does not like doors you get used to it. One time she scared Grandmother so bad that she almost blew a hole in the wall with a spell of hers." Sarne said with an smerk.
Sarne chuckled at Zak's remarks about the passable poison apple. "I don't think she has killed anyone that way here yet but there is always the first time," said Sarne Jokingly right after Zak took a bite of the apple.
"This apothecary, The Silver Fang, Sarris I won't ask how you know because I know you won't tell me. I think sometimes it is you protecting me instead of me protecting you." Says Sarne then taking a sip of win.
"Zak sounds like you in so when do you want to live?" asked Sarne.

Sarris smiled nicely and said, “Poison is not my style. I would rather torture them with misfortune than kill someone.” She sat on one of the fainting chairs and continued, “Poisons are against the family and Vanguard Code, so is slitting a person’s throat. If I were to do anything like that I would no longer be welcomed in the walls of the Grey Citadel and under your good graces, my Lord Cousin.” She straightened her skirts and sat proper on one of the fainting chairs.
“I do try to keep up on the gossip that the family can not hear,” she said.

Zak smiled at Sarris' words. Would rather torture with misfortune than to kill sounded like a good policy to him.
"Good at hearing all the juicy gossip, eh?" Zak asked, his expression growing serious. "Let me get this straight. You've heard that this hoodlum enjoys using poison, and that the apothecary The Silver Fang peddles snake poison. Have you heard any other useful tidbits to help us in our search?"
"And, yes, of course, Lord Sarne. I am quite willing to join you to rid your realm of this Black Hood character. I'm ready to venture forth whenever you are."

Sarne looked at Sarris and shook his head almost in disbelief. "Yes Sarris is there anything you are leaving out?" asked Sarne taking a sip of wine.
Zak did have a point where Sarris gets this information. She always seems to know something. Saren wondered because he was a noble and people never really told him things like that. Is it the people Sarne needs to approach who would not talk to him? Sarne thought well if he did they probably want to kill him or capture him and ransom him off.
"We still have some light we can finish our food and head out if you are ready Master Zak," suggested Sarne

She looked at them with a little smirk. “Gossip and rumors all contain a bit of truth,” she said with a smirk. “Well, there is a barmaid that has her eye on a certain single noble and had plans for him of the most entangling kind,” she said. “If she tries she might find herself locked in a shipping trunk,” she said in a bit more serious tone.
“As to your target, not much more. I do know that going dressed like you are, you both are probably going to scare most people or end up being rolled for your loose change,” she said.
“Bright shiny boots and swords, clean clothes, house seals, even your stride, screams payday. Clean hair, faces, and no body odor might as well scream send the city guard,” Sarris said. “To catch this one you are going to need to think like this one,” she said. Grandfather had said something like that before and it sounded wise. It did not sound quite right so maybe she read it somewhere.
She moved over to the table and picked up the bottle of wine then said, “After dinner, let Aunty Sarris and her babes give you an education on being a street rat.”
Sarris looked at Sarne, “I expect one of the Masters Hammerfist will be coming for me in.” She held up a hand cand counted down. “5… 4… 3… 2…” she said. There was a knock at the door from a large hand. Dwarf knocks were unique. This knock was a bit annoyed. “I may be in trouble for not being at my post,” she said a bit playfully. She looked at Zak and said, “At times, they think I am a member of the Vanguard.”
She poured more wine for each of them.

Zak scoffed, shaking his head incredulously. “You might be well versed as a street rat, little chick, but don’t you worry about this tribesman. I’ve never had shiny boots, …don’t carry a sword, …clean clothes can always be exchanged for dirty rags, …and missy, you haven’t been close enough to me to take a good sniff. If anything, I smell like wolf.”
Zak chuckled, pulling up his shirt for a sniff. “But you go ahead and school your cousin over here. He reeks of nobility and entitlement.” Zak glanced at Sarne, raising the wine goblet to his lips. “No offense meant, Lord Sarne.” Zak took a sip of wine. “Sarris does have a point, sir. You will definitely stick out like a sore thumb. We either use your authority to intimidate or you might need to alter your demeanor and appearance.”

Sarne gave a grin "cousin, do you need a note to excuse you from your post?" said Sarne jokingly. Looking at the Dwarf "My cousin will be with you shortly wait outside." ordered Sarne. The dwarf gave a nod and stepped back out of the room.
"Master Zak, I will have to go back to my ranger roots I have not always looked... ah.. so clean. Three months in the wilderness make anyone look like a peasant." commented Sarne "and no offense taken." Sarne answered.
Sarne thought for a moment. "but you are right. I need to play in the dirt some on the way there. I can stop by some of the craftsmen and pick up some old stuff. I will leave it to Master Zak and the Sarris to make me fit the part." Suggested Sarne with a smile.

Blushing Sarris nodded then added, “He mentioned something about having me stand the night watch at the pole in full plate.” She looked a little serious and added, “I would hate for the Sargent to have to stand there all night too and the Keep does not have plate armor my size and shape.” She set the wine bottle down. “Can you help him understand that I just can not stay in one spot for four or eight hours,” she added in a bit of frustration.
She wanted to add that she had her orders from Grandfather to help protect the family and the citadel. She is not suppose to talk about with anyone. Master Hammerfist or even Sarne. She was in “Secret Service” to the house. A lot of Grendfather’s yelling and her banishment was in part an act letting her go places and do things the family name would prevent. Her “discharge” from the house had been done publicly, and being a child, Sarris took it as true. Grandfather still yells at her when he sees her in the keep.
This was an on going plea that Sarris had. The look on Sarne’s face made her stop, it was family business.
“Ranger clothes would suite you well,” she said and headed for the door.
Master Hammerfist dressed Sarris down in a paternal tone about leaving her assignment.
Sarris found herself standing at the flag pole in the court yard with Nathander. He was in full armor and standing at attention. Sarris had a helmet placed on her head and some part of a suit of armor placed on her outstretched arms. Nathander was moved in front of her by orders and placed his arms out too. They stood face to face.
When they were left alone. Sarris said, “I could do this all day.” Nathander replied not moving his head much, “No you can not. At some point your arms will get tired and you will drop the armor.” He continued, “The Captain said we carry each other and when one is punished all are punished. They thought you needed to know I was okay.” She smiled at that. “Your cousin is a good teacher. Hard, expects perfection, but fair,” Nathander said. They stood there for a while. “He is going to need you, so when it is time lower the armor into my arms and place the helmet on the ground. There is a group of us that will stand your punishment tonight,” he said.
Sarris started to wonder if Sarne and Master Hammerfist had not had this all planned out. In a while her arms started to shake, another member of the thieves guild came up took the helmet and her place.
“Go,” Nathander barked at her only to get dressed down by the Sargent who happened to be passing through.
Sarris put on a blue peasants dress and her cloak. Her knives tucked in places and her thieves tools in others. She undid her braids and rubbed a bit of grease and soot in her hair and on her face neck and hands. Her feet were filthy already. She grabbed a staff and waited at the edge of the courtyard.
She waited at the edge of the courtyard for the men. One of her little girls ran up bringing her some food in a pouch.

Zak shook his head as Sarris left the room. Did she ever sit still? he wondered. The cousins had an interesting relationship. Zak had a feeling that the young lord appreciated the young woman’s spontaneity. The responsibilities of being part of a ruling family weigh heavily, he supposed.
“Lord Sarne, I’m ready to leave whenever you are,” Zak said before sitting back and taking a sip of wine, a contemplative expression on his face. “We don’t have much to go on, do we? Clear to me though that the apothecary appears to be the first step.” Taking another sip of wine, Zak wondered what he had gotten into. He was not used to subterfuge, more comfortable with the direct approach.
“We should come up with an approach though. Not a good idea to make it obvious that we’re looking for someone. Should we say we’re looking to purchase some poison? …What do you think?”

Sarne was hoping for more people to come for this mission but maybe it was better this way. Sarne thought about Zak and his questions. Taking some cheese and eating it and drinking some wine. Sarne wondered if they could pull this off and find the man.
"That's a good plan and if a noble is involved that is not uncommon either if we get found out." Sarne paused in thought. "I do think it is a good idea to start there. I know we don't have much but I think we can fill in the rest as we go," explained Sarne
Sarne looks down at his plate and pondered facts. "I hate to say it but maybe we should walk to town. If people see us walking in we might look more common," suggested Sarne. "We can live when I change my clothing." said Sarne.

It has been a long voyage from the Moonglade to capital landing, but Vasilia knew the trip was going to be worth her while the first moment she had set foot on dry land. Not only were there opportunities to make new contacts, but a wealth of opportunities and intrigue ready to explore. In part, her reason for being there had been one particular contact who she was interested in doing business with, the Black Hood. They had connections and information aplenty. The kind of contact her sect found useful to know in the information trade which took place in the shadows.
Vasilia worked briefly with the smuggling operations that were moving in poison as someone watching and monitoring the rat lines in and out of the city. These small fry jobs helped her to get access to those with the right connections in the city. Information was exchanged and levers pulled.
An anonymous meeting followed. It had been arranged discreetly and in a few short discussions, she had decided to work closely for the Black Hood. This first contract was nothing more than a misdirection mission. The Black Hood had, by various sources and repeated attempts, began to see a threat appearing for them...to this end they now dispatched her to push the threat off course. So far she'd had some interesting run ins with people trying to pursue the Black Hood, but now they foresaw a threat from the source coming. She was to intercept, infiltrate and take notes of developments. This was a mission that required a delicate touch, the feminine touch of one trained in the art of deception.
Her main point of call was where she intercepted someone else prior, the apothecary shop. At that moment she was awaiting her contacts any day and made sure to be in close distance to the shop. A note had been passed to her that it would be hours rather than days soon and she made herself visible around and inside the shop.
She wore the slit purple skirt of a priestess which hung down near her thighs either side where the top of her black stockings could just barely be seen. She wore a air of knee high black rugged boots. Over her chest was covered by some more purple cloth and some light padding and straps. Her hands were cover in a pair of thin and black elegant gloves. She kept one blade within the back of her skirt and one concealed inside her boot. If there was to be any confrontation, although extremely unlikely, she was ready for it.
She stood in the job admiring the poisons as she pondered the best way to infiltrate whatever group was coming. Groups were always trickier than lone individuals. It was harder to seduce a group. It was hardener to drug a group. She'd have to wiggle her way in and somehow earn their trust if she was to extract what their goals were. The Black Hood wanted answers and that is why she was being paid, however information was more valuable. Perhaps she might even play both sides at the right time. She would wait a see how things developed. Cautiously and shrewd she waited.

The Hood had been watching the shop for a while. He had killed several people so far. The Hood did not want anymore or another body to deal with. The alleyway was dark and dirty even during the day time the tall buildings made it so that way you could see people going about their way watching one other closely. some sitting in the gutter passed out from drugs or Drinking. the smell of urine and old ale was in the air. The apothecary shop of The Silver Fang is what it is known by. Silver Fang was known to have some of the best... ah... medicine and poison in the slums of Sol city. The Hood had been doing business with the Silver fang for some time now. The Hood was being paid very well for the work of the Robe is all he knew about him and that the Robe showed they were a powerful spell caster. The Hood saw another he had sued before Vasilia pretty girl and a bit dangerous. The hood looked around to make sure she was alone. The Hood walked over to Vasilia "Vas, how's it going, you got anything new on the guard patrols?" the Hood said in his raspy voice that stink of ale.

Sarris was not use to Nathander talking that way to her. Her Noble birth in her flared and she just about back handed him. She had been providing for him when her could not even beg a meal. She looked at him and realized that it was his training talking. She might as well have been talking to Sarne when was learning about commands. Sarris did not get this form of discipline, being punished that something could happen and she really was not use to people willingly taking her punishment for her. Grandfather, through proxies, had tasked her with guarding Sarne and the family and given some latitude. This was a fools mission and she knew it.
She had to move quickly. Walking into the armory she found the most beat up scabbards. She quickly pulled the seals off the outsides with her knife. Then ran the leather down the grinding stone scuffing it up so that the pattern would not be as visible, She smeared black polish on them. Walking over the the weapons, she looked over the swords that were reserved for the recruits. Weapons not fit for a knight. She picked out two long swords worn but straight and a beat up staff for herself. Placing the swords in the sheaths and headed out.
She headed for the barn where she changed into some beggars clothes and transferred her lock picks and her throwing knives. She took old grease from cooking and a mix of soot and rubbed it in her unbraided hair. She rubbed some on her legs, arms, and face. She added two vials of numbing poisons to her pouch. The pouch that contained only copper coins and silver coin.
She looked at Prince and asked “What do you think?” A little girl laughed from the next stall peeking through the slats.
She picked up Prince and handed him off to the girl. “Make sure you do what Cora and Leah tell you,” she said giving her a little hug.
Then she walked to the gate and waited before the walls and waited for the men to come. She kept her head low, her hood up, and the swords hidden inside the cloak.

Vasilia's elf ears pricked up with the sound of footsteps, but she didn't turn. Her nose picked out the unsubtle odour of ale that was unmistakable on his breath...a vile drink...and she recognised the voice, it was the Hood. Her eyes moved to the side and then to him.
“There is nothing new on the guard patrols...and it has become harder to extract information out of them since my unruly pillow talker got transferred for verbally abusing his superior officer...” she said as each of her gloved hands caressed each other. She wondered if he was irritated of being hunted yet, clearly there was more trouble on the way. She felt frustrated...that guard had been a good source of knowledge for her, funny how easy dull men fell for the feminine charm.
“...seducing one guard is easy, but many creates problems” she said as she admired a potion with a pink rose on it wondering whether The Silver Fang did perfume or seduction potions.
