Spend enough time wandering the lands and you're bound to end up places you do not mean to be. For many people that means swamps or thick forests, far away from the comfort of civilizations, for Galvynn it was the exact opposite. His nerves were immediately put on edge being inside of a city. All of the side glances and awkward looks did not help, but in his defense Galvynn couldn't help but look so out of place. A large rune badger trundling beside him did not help things in the slightest. In fact, it was through Bucky's recklessness that they ended up in the city anyways. A powerful sense of smell and an even more powerful hunger meant the badger would go anywhere that meant food. He snuffled up dirt as they walked and Galvynn did his best to at least keep them from the more populated areas of the city. It was then the pair found themselves just outside The Black Spire. Galvynn frowned a bit in the shadow of this dark place, feeling the corruption in the soil. He puts a hand on Bucky, gently tugging his scruff a moment. "Hold on Bucky....I don't think we should forage here. This is.....I don't know what is wrong with this place, but something is off here and I don't like it."

If one should ask which place is best for listening in on rumors, changing rooms at the Martial Academy would be considerably high on Eilidh's list. This one had first started as sort of a ghost story about all places you shouldn't be visiting when the moon is up, but escalated quickly into its own:
"Did you know there are these mysterious flowers somewhere over at The Black Spire? Someone told me they make you hear things. Feel, too. It's probably just a silly tale, but I wouldn't be caught stepping a foot there... there's that wind and screams, and it feels like a very long funeral over there. And the flowers are all black. Maybe that place is just straight-up cursed or something."
Now, Eilidh doesn't even have much in common with magic; it's not alien, but also not something she understands well. In her poor knowledge of the topic, runes, curses, and hoaxes stand on the same level as spells and potions, and while she does have an inkling that she is probably doing an injustice to all these different subjects, she doesn't have the spare energy to get into it on her own.
Still, the story clung to the back of her mind like honey. Can't get it out once it's there. Be it a curse, a magical plant outbreak, or something else entirely, she found herself on a day off striding toward the rumored place, wearing some light armor and carrying her satchel and sword in a scabbard.
"Guess I can just report it if I can't figure it out," she thought glumly.
The closer Eilidh got to The Black Spire, the more the feeling of dread and unease. The wind perked up a bit, but there weren't any unusual sounds as the original story had suggested, and she pressed on until something appeared to move around the darkened soil, something very much resembling a ... small bear? An enormous rat? It would take getting a bit closer to figure out what it was, which prompted Eilidh to approach the animal and soon notice its companion as well.
"Greetings," informing the pair of her presence, she halted. "Are you investigating something?"

Somewhere between a small bear and an enormous rat was a pretty apt description for Bucky. At a distance it was hard to tell, but up close he had all the markings of an average badger but with the addition of some runic markings in the fur. The man beside the badger looked equally of the woods, dirt clinging to the edges of his outer robe and heels of his boots. No weapons or harmful items can be seen on his person either.
"Well....not intentionally." Galvynn sighs as he puts his hands on his hips. Bucky has continued forward to start snuffling at some of the vegetation.
The druid looks around a moment, thankful that this new person was the only person who seemed to notice them so far. In fact....they hadn't seen any people for a long time. Was this a place people weren't supposed to be? He got in here, but then again he doesn't consider himself a people. Maybe that was the trick.
It didn't explain the stranger though. Was she also not people? Galvynn is about to ask before clumps of dirt are flung back into his shins. He looks up to see Bucky digging at the roots of a tree.
"No, no come on Bucky, you can't make a burrow here." Badger noises. "Because this is the middle of a city Buck, we don't live in cities." More badger noises.
"I'm sorry, do you live here? I'll put the dirt back, don't worry....I know how it looks, but he's harmless.....mostly. You don't have grubs in your pockets do you?"

While unusual, the pair didn't seem to pose much of a threat, unprovoked at least. Eilidh eyed the badger warily, noting to herself his name - Bucky. The person accompanying him didn't look like he could be from around here, though Eilidh wouldn't have known his origin or occupation just by looking at him, it wasn't someting she took interest in.
Looking at the stranger's weary expression, the maiden felt like she'd accidentally stumbled upon someone lost and unsure where to go. Her gaze followed Bucky as he dug around, and he reminded her of old Sap, her childhood dog, who'd also stuck his nose into every crook and root he possibly could. It didn't really occur to her that the badger could be doing something bad until his companion spoke first.
"No, no come on Bucky, you can't make a burrow here." Badger noises. "Because this is the middle of a city Buck, we don't live in cities." More badger noises.
Eilidh lifted an eyebrow, but didn't comment. She looked at the changes in the man's face as he talked to the animal, which looked a little comical due to her not being able to understand what Bucky said to him. At the very least, she didn't freak out, just stood there with her arms crossed, observing.
"I'm sorry, do you live here? I'll put the dirt back, don't worry....I know how it looks, but he's harmless.....mostly. You don't have grubs in your pockets do you?"
"I'm from around here," Eilidh shifted her weight from one foot to another. "I... perhaps the man himself would be able to dig up some grub for himself if the place weren't messed up."
The wind howled suddenly, running through the ground and carrying flower petals through the sky, bringing a weird sense of... being young and afraid, maybe. Eilidh gave the dark petals a quick glance and continued:
"Apparently, this place, The Black Spire, has been rumoured to have grown black and purple flowers, and those supposedly can make one feel weird; dreadful, uneasy and such. There are ghost stories and even speculations of this place being cursed, so I've come down to see the actual story. Since you're already here, would you mind seeing to the matter along with me? I've got a feeling you'll do far better than me. I don't mind the badger. He looks, um..." Eilidh met a pair of two unreadable dark dots. "...gentlemanly."

Galvynn sighs as Bucky continues to dig. From the looks and sounds of it, no one really cared about this place so the druid was a little less worried about that. The flowers in the area did finally draw his attention though.
He looks back over his shoulder os Eilidh expounds on the place. The Black Spire? Humans sure loved their ominous names and scary locations it seems. Cursed? Even with his knowledge of nature he didn't know of too many flowers that could cause negative feelings.
Sneezing and allergies probably aren't positive emotions, but it's not dread and unease. Was this a new kind of plant? Or something caused by the shifting of balance in the world? He idly scratches his cheek as he thinks.
Bucky looks back as Eilidh addresses him, dirt flying from his nostrils as he snorts. He turns and toddles back towards the pair.
"He's something all right...Care to explain yourself?" Badger noises. "Uh-huh..." Badger noises. "Ok and?" Badger noises.
"Right makes sense, he can smell something strange in the area too, it fades the deeper he got...which means the plants must be fairly new if they haven't gotten their roots too deep....Still that brings up the question of how they got here and bloomed so quickly."
