The lichen covered suit of armour sat idly in the clearing. It’s hollow interior echoing the random movements its helmet makes when attempting to speak. The Consortium has posited that certain local flora might be capable of enhancing whatever magics are empowering this function, thus her presence. Gwendolyn sat on a log, arms propped on her knees to hold her head in place. She had been tasked at gathering a list of herbs and flowers that were fae touched in some way, but what was she to do with this list. It wasn’t like there was a greenhouse in this valley that had all of the plants all neatly arranged and labelled for her to pluck. She was no druid, nor desperate peasant to have experience foraging in the wild. “This is such bullshit” She huffed, sighing deeply in dismay. Not to mention, she had been given this random cauldron with which to process the concoction with. It’s like she was being delegated to the role of town witch in the woods. The armour mumbles another line of gibberish as she kicks a rock into the campfire. “Menangerie…Forensics…Haar…Moss…Languish.” Meaningless piece of junk. Some wizard 10000 years ago was probably laughing his ass off at her babysitting his enchanted entrance guard. Guild: Golden Consortium Participants: Exactly Two Location: Sunshade Glade Post Requirements: 5 posts per person, 200 words per post Reward: +1 Renown - Anyone +1 Mystical Archive ticket - Guild Member +1 Towards Guild Quest requirements - Guild Member Description: The Knight appears to be Fae in nature, and has been resting in this grove for a very long time, nature having claimed them as a part of itself. The Golden Consortium has identified several types of plant life and flowers that are Fae in nature and that have been growing around the grove. Help them by collecting these plants and following the recipe to create a memory potion, which could be used to help bring back specific memories. Additional Information: One potion is not enough, as their memory has long since been taken from them. The more of the concoction they consume, the more that comes back. Most of what they say is random nonsense with little meaning, however they keep repeating one specific word throughout many of their ramblings. Moss. What could that mean?

After having spent an afternoon fighting off a pair of Bogaboos and Kingswood Spawn, Astrid realized that she never actually went to see what this weird knight in the tree is all about. Being a purveyor of armors and constructs that she is, Astrid couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check this thing out. So, with a copy of the Consortium’s posting in hand, Astrid treks deep into the woods. Luckily, it’s an easier trek without the threat of undead presently.
It’s still the woods though, and Astrid unceremoniously stumbles through the brush into the glen where she finds a face she hasn’t seen in a very long time. “GWEN??” she exclaims, recovering from her stumble and standing upright. “Wow, I ain’t seen ya since Vulcadreaus! Good ta know yer still around.” Astrid slings a bag from off of her shoulder and sets it down then looks at Gwen with a teasing grin on her face. “Ya been busy weddin’ plannin’?”
At least, Astrid thinks Blue mentioned something about an engagement, which while a surprise and also a great concern, it is funny to think about. Does Gwen know that Blue is an ooze? Blue should definitely tell her before they get in too deep. Wait, they kind of already are in too deep. Wait, did Gwen disappear because she found out?
Maybe that joke was in poor taste. Oh well. Astrid’s sure the topic of her metal arm is going to come up and then both of them can avoid a subject. At least for now she’s wearing armor so it kind of blends in. Sort of.

The snapping of sticks and underbrush brings her back straight, alert to whatever chaos was headed Gwens way. A familiar face stumbles into the clearing, and upon hearing her voice, it was certain. “Astrid?!” she shouts incredulously, jumping to her feet. It wasn’t that far fetched to have adventurers come check this out, but what were the odds? “Same to you, loving the armour upgrades!” she says, eying up the fancy glowing armour that sat upon her arm. Or…did it go through the arm? The entire appendage was brimming with raw magical energy, and now that she thought about it, the entire kid did as well. This was the first time she had seen Astrid with her glasses, and it was almost scary how many magical effects were converging on one person. Layers of Auras, spells, and reinforced items, no wonder she hadn’t been able to beat her when they first met. Gwendolyn removed her glasses, putting them back into the pouch on the small of her back, looking at the flap to do so. She was glad there was a brief moment turned away from the young smith, because her entire face burned bright red at the mention of the wedding. Crap, crapcrapcrap she said something about that during the Vulcadreus incident didn’t she. It was incredibly rude to mention event’s offhand to people who haven’t been invited yet. Gods above she hoped that her brother Lorde Wolfe had the foresight to clear this up, and extend a formal invitation. Game face, a quick inhale brought her embarrassment back under control before looking back. “Ah, haha yes. It would seem everything is right on track. There was a few…issues… during the planning, but everything looks like it’ll be happening soon! I had no idea your brother was like that, he is a very interesting, and ...talented individual. I hope he has given you a formal invitation?”
She starts finding her groove again, no conversation a noblewoman can’t handle. Though Astrid usually did find a way to catch her off guard. “Enough of me, don’t think I have been blind to the Lore Gazette’s reports. Lady Astrid Stormstone, Guildmaster? You do find ways to impress me each time we meet it seems.”

“Armor upgrades…?” Astrid repeats, looking at herself and wondering what the heck is different before she notices Gwen looking at her arm with glasses she recognizes from the Mage’s Guild. “Oh, right, duh! I forget it's there sometimes. Thanks! Made it meself!” she says with a nervous laugh. That saves her some of a conversation, probably.
Seeing Gwen flustered makes Astrid start to giggle, though she does her best to cover her mouth and stifle it. She figures that an adult in her position would not be so flustered about it, but here she is, and Astrid, finally, understands what it’s like to be that flustered. Though, she tilts her head, not completely understanding what Gwen means about Blue. Did Gwen find out they’re an ooze? Astrid didn’t actually get very many details from Blue, which is to be expected because they don’t have a brain to store memories.
“What do ya mean by that?” Astrid asks, a touch of innocence and curiosity at the same time. “Like what?” In asking, she hopes to find out exactly what Gwen knows so that Astrid doesn’t accidentally spill any beans that shouldn’t be or haven’t been spilled…even if they should be spilled by now.
As Astrid sets her bag down, she starts unpacking it, setting aside various bits and bobs and kits and materials. “Oh, yeah! I got grounded fer a while, so I figured I’d start movin’ forward with an idea that kinda needed me at home fer it, ya know? I wanna teach people how ta make stuff they’re proud of an’ learn skills that could help lots a’ people.”
Speaking of making things, the potion. Astrid pulls out a copy of Kvasir’s plant book and her own notebook and starts making observations of the various plants in the clearing around the mumbling set of armor.

Did… did Astrid not know that Lord Wolfe was a ooze? They were siblings right? Wait… Was Astrid an ooze? Would that explain anything? She had to find out. Her eyes wandered, and she stood up to go inspect a random Veracibloom bush behind the small girl at the question. “Oh, you know… He’s so polite and well mannered. And quite…flexible. He’s responsible for saving my life quite a few times now. I was worried he might be a slimeball, but he’s turned out to be quite the gentleman.”
Certainly her subterfuge would sus out whatever Astrid knew, but for her second hypothesis, only physical evidence would suffice. Gwen stood nonchalantly as Astrid described her guild, twirling a bloom in one hand with her other at her back. Her innocent stride and inconspicuous whistle brought her behind the small smith where she could inspect her more thoroughly. She didn’t look or smell like a slime…though she could probably use another bath. On the other hand, Lorde Wolfe was a master shapeshifter, she probably would be too. How the hell could she figure out what she was on the inside… Stabbing was out of the question, at least for the moment. Could oozes be stabbed? She still had alot of questions for her fiancée. Gwen disengaged from her inspection of Astrid, wandering back over to place the bloom in the cauldron. Oh. Oh that would be delightfully devilish Gwendolyn. Veracibloom had an interesting effect along with memory stimulation once brewed into a potion. It could make the imbiber more likely to spill secrets… If she could get Astrid to test the potion before they gave it to the knight, she might be able to sus out whether or not it was safe to talk about Lorde Wolfs true identity around her… and whether or not she herself was another ooze. The thought of their government being overtaken by shapeshifting oozes did not escape her mind, but she was glad to have chosen the correct side. “Inspirational. I’ve always been enthralled in your wacky contraptions, I have little doubt that an invention of yours will change the world one day.”

Astrid, of course, knows that Geoffrey Wolfe, also known as Blue Raspberry, is an ooze. If she recalls correctly, she’s one of the first people they told, and she’s done her best to keep their secret, especially as the two of them were launched into the eyes of noble society. It’s more important than ever to keep that secret.
But they really shouldn’t keep it a secret from Gwen much longer. Did Blue really get themself into a real marriage agreement with her? Does she not know? It’s really hard to tell what she knows based on what she’s saying. The choice of words is too on the nose, but that could entirely be coincidence. Astrid never did like the way that people mince words around what they truly mean to say.
The tension in her shoulders could give her away if she doesn’t relax because her expression sure is struggling to appear halfway normal while the girl processes what she does know. In fact, she’s so caught up in trying to parse through her information that she doesn’t notice Gwen’s inspection of her in the slightest. She has no reason to think Gwen would suspect her of anything other than covering up for Blue– if that’s what Gwen even thinks.
Gwen’s words pull her out of her dizzy spell. “Oh, uh, thanks,” she says, looking at Gwen. “I appreciate it.” Though she is appreciative, Astrid is quite distracted. She turns to start checking on plants and checking them against any similar plants in her guide, kneeling in the grass near the murmuring knight.
Finally, Astrid blurts, “Uh, do ya… Do ya know..? About Wolfe…?”
Crap, come up with a backup plan.
