Rena tilts her head, the feathers around her beak ruffling in a small, avian smile as she considers the offer, silver eyes glinting with amusement as she takes a moment to reexamine the druid before letting out a soft chirp to get the twins' attention, “well? What do you think, lort’yrlr s’no?1 I remember you wanting a flute, Loci…” the crow trills softly, gently scooping her son up into her arms.
The little skeleton squirms a little in his mother’s grasp, eye lights still burning with that toxic, acidic green light as he glares at the retreating forms of the surviving crabs, letting out the occasional hiss as his feet kick in his attempts to free himself so that he might enact vengeance for their attempts to bring harm to his murder.
Rena just chuckles, a fond smile in the ruffling of her feathers, “...yes, I know, lort’yrlr ‘no, they tried to hurt us…but they weren’t in control of themselves. ‘S like how I used to be, when I first made that deal I told you about, remember? Besides…I believe our company would be…displeased were we to perform an all-out extermination without proper cause…”
Whistle tilts her head as she watches her undead brother struggle and squirm against their mother’s grasp, her ruby eyes examining every movement, every shiver of his bones, every little twitch, the way his acidic green eye lights refuse to focus on any one object or point for more than a moment, jittering in his dark sockets like fireflies trapped in a jar…

"Come, come." He smiles and motions for the family to gather around while he pulls out a few differently shaped and sized pieces of wood from his pockets.
Eventually he settles on a nice piece of oak and retrieves the whittling knife from his pocket. It was the only thing on his person that could harm someone, but it was already pretty clear he had no interest in that kind of action. Long and slow motions are made to shave off the first big curls of wood while he works to get the shape.
"I never actually learned how to play anything, but the priests liked to make things like this. They would make ones that could make different animal calls...I liked those...Mom could play an actual flute...I liked that too. Which kind would you like?"
The druid smiles up towards the children, fully intending to carve something for them both if allowed.
"If not I could make you a little totem or charm, something you can just hold and have. Something that would be special just for you."

Rena smiles softly, letting out a quiet trill and releasing her son as he slowly calms, the little skeleton’s eye lights dimming and flickering back to a soft, serene emerald shine as he takes a moment to regain his bearings…and then he lets out a small, startled yelp as his sister grabs his hand to bodily drag him over to the druid. Loci blinks a couple times, emerald eye lights flickering on and off a couple times before refocusing on Galvynn as the skeleton tilts his head, the spectral, half there feathers around his beak ruffling in an avian smile, ”...I…I think I’d like a flute…”
Whistle chirps softly, feathers ruffling in her own excitement, ”can ye do figurines? I’ve been tryin’ t’ get a crow figure for Big Sis Elvi!” the little crow bounces in places, ruby eyes sparkling with her eagerness as she lets out soft chirps and trills.
Bell tilts his head, amber eyes glinting with amusement as he watches his children, pleased to see them excited and eager for once…

"I can do both." He smiles and grabs out a longer piece of wood to work on the flute first since that would be the easiest.
Galvynn is sure to not rush the process though, wanting to give them both a quality product and a chance to see how something is done. It was a pretty simple gesture, but the hope was in the long run by showing how natural things have a use people might better appreciate nature. The things found in cities had to come from somewhere, the druid hoped seeing that was a benefit.
"Of course, if you want to do something like this, make sure your parents approve, knives can be sharp." He smiles before blowing some sawdust from the flute.
As Galvynn works he hums a little tune. It's soft and lilting, rolling like the breeze around them. Something just to fill the silence while he works. It takes a few minutes more, but eventually a simple flute is offered over to Loci. It wasn't going to be seen in any opera theater, but it could play a tune.
"Another thing you could do...if you find some clam shells or even hollow out the bodies of some of the crabs you killed, the empty shells once dried you could tie the two halves together and have a set of hand clappers."
Little did Galvynn know the danger he was introducing by showing kids how to do music and make even more noise. A byproduct of never dealing with humanoid kids, you never really teach a wolf cub to play the flute after all.
He grabs up a stouter piece of would to start working on the raven figurine, "Ravens are a good bird to have a charm for...resourceful and intelligent. I am sure your big sister will enjoy this."

Rena chuckles softly as she listens to the druid work, idly cracking her neck as her wings flare and mantle about her, silver eyes watching her children with fondness as her tailfeathers flick, the feathers around her neck ruffling and smoothing out even as the twin chains of her curse twist and orbit around her, frozen fog puffing from her nostrils with every breath and black frost crackling along her fingers as she stands there, content for watch for the time being…and then she’s sending a coin dancing along her knuckles as she walks over to sit on a nearby chunk of driftwood, those silver eyes dancing with amusement as she watches her children and stretches a wing out to pull her husband into a hug.
Bell lets out an amused chirp, happily pressing against his wife’s side and softly nuzzling under her beak as he soaks in her warmth…she’s colder than she was before she gave Loci his shell…and she’s only going to get colder as she sacrifices more of her warmth to give that same chance to their other two frozen children…but for now, he’s happy to snuggle, happy to hold and be held, happy to simple be...
Loci trills happily as he accepts the freshly carved flute from the druid, then his eyelights fuzz out…and snap back into focus as he sneezes, smoky feathers and onyx scales sprouting from the appropriate places on his bones…not covering him entirely, but definitely enough for him to emote with. And the black scales on his lower legs and forearms are pretty cool, too…
Whistle lets out a slightly irritated trill, seemingly unbothered by her brother’s transformation, “not a raven, a crow! There’s a difference…Ravens are an Unkindness, Crows are a Murder. and we’re a Murder,” and then she spins to tackle her brother, letting out a high, keening whistle of excitement as she turns his skull this way and that, ruby eyes sparkling with glee as she watches her brother’s new feathers ruffle with his surprise and irritation.

Galvynn can't help but brim with a smile and laugh as the children get more and more active. He had plenty of experience with younglings, but they were of the bestial variety. He hand the scars and marks along his hands and arms to prove that, hard to avoid when you're playing with claws and fangs. Humanoid children were different, but just as vibrant.
It was a good reminder to him that there are good parts of society. While he may never truly end his hermitdom, the children along with Rena and Bell are a sign that society isn't as far gone as he thinks sometimes. This family was willing to listen...to hear him out and that was a rarity.
"My mistake, a crow." He smiles, thankfully having not gotten to the beak or tail feathers yet. As he does near the end, there are only a few finishing touches on it. He blows off some of the wood dust to look it over.
"I have an idea little one, if your parents allow...would you like to carve something on the bottom of the crow? A little symbol or maybe your initials, that way whoever you gift it to knows it comes from you and you can add your own personal flair to it? Or if you would prefer, tell me what you'd like carved."

Whistle tilts her head slightly, then brightens, “could you do the rune for song on the bottom?” that particular rune had become something of a calling card for the little crow, a little symbol that means her. Elvira…should recognize it, she’s left little wooden tokens with the sigil carved in at the site of her pranks often enough…
Loci tilts his head slightly, experimentally playing with the wooden flute, closing various combinations of holes with his fingers of bone even as he breathes little puffs of air over the hole at the end…he's actually rather good, for all that he's never even touched an instrument before...
Rena trills happily, the feathers around her beak ruffling in an avian smile as she holds her husband close and watches her children. She does what she can, but…the cards her murder’s been dealt have forced these two to adapt, to grow hard and inured to the suffering of those around them. Not their own suffering, not to the same degree, she’s been able to shield them that much, thank the stars, but…they both have the same ability you’d find in crows and ravens from the Valley, this talent for just…switching off their empathy. It…she’s less worried about it with Loci, since it’s more a part of the magic animating his shell than a part of his native skillset…but her daughter…Whistle’s picked up the trick to it all on her own. And that…back in the Valley, that would be lauded, something to be celebrated…but out here it’s just…worrying. She doesn’t want her daughter to be like the supposed ‘genius fledglings’ who excelled at all things violent and painful…
Bell, sensing his wife’s downturn in mood, snuggles closer, chirping comfortingly as he nuzzles under her beak and gently nibbles at the feathers of her neck.

"Song is good, I like songs. I can hear them on the wind often...the music of nature." He smiles fondly as he takes a moment to carve in the rune. Galvynn rubs a thumb over the figurine for a moment....It is simple but easily recognizable. He hadn't the time or supplies to paint it, but perhaps it was something Whistle could do herself before giving it over.
Galvynn hands her the figurine before standing with a stretch. No effort is made to clear himself from the wood or sand, it was clear natural debris was as much a part of the druid's clothing as the cloth itself.
"Anything for the loving pair? Though I don't want to keep you any longer than I already have." He smiles sheepishly at the two. "Thank you for indulging me....both with the crabs and my insistence at giving gifts. If it wasn't obvious, I don't interact much with people not like myself."
Obviously they weren't much like him. Galvynn was human by all appearances, but its clear he sees a distinction between himself and people as a whole. A lonely little island he'd carved for himself.
"But you and your children help me to remember that abandoning people as a whole is not an option...there are good people like you that need help and protection sometimes too." He touches a hand to the bear jaw necklace around his neck. "It is important I don't forget that and tuck myself into a burrow the rest of my life. She would not like that for me."

Rena and Bell tilt their heads at the question, the motion eerily synchronized as they exchange chirps, trills, and whistles before returning their shared attention to the druid, “...I think we’re good. We…should probably be going, anyhoo. Ferries close for the night soon, and we’re not strong enough to carry the lort’yrlr s’no1 for the kind of distance we’ll need to get home…
Rena trills thoughtfully at Galvynn’s last words, those silver eyes zeroing in on the bear jaw necklace as she bobs her head approvingly, “...everything goes t’use. Everything has a use…even if all that means is reminding us of better times,” she offers the druid an avian smile, “...I hope she’d be proud of who you’ve become”
Loci tucks the flute away under his tunic, his egg rotating faster behind his ribs in response to his glee as his new feathers ruffle in an avian grin, “...thank you, sir. I’ll make sure t’ take care of it for as long as I can”
Whistle’s eyes shine with delight, her feathers ruffling in the same as she takes the figuring in gentle hands, marveling at the detail and lighting up when she spots the rune on the bottom of the statuette. She only examines it for a moment before tucking it away into a pouch, “thank ye kindly, Mister Moonveil!” the little crow chirps before she and her brother dart back to their parents and the whole murder moves to leave, chirping and whistling to eachother all the while…
