From the outside, Black Rock Tavern looks average, plain, and normal for Dragon's Cradle and Sky Peak Village. The hardwood and huge, stone beams make up most of the building's outer structure. It is tough to see through the large, curtained windows, but the festive noise from within can be felt outside. As you enter the tavern through the old, hard wooden door, you're welcomed by a layer of smoke hanging below the ceiling and watching eyes. The bartender is rubbing a glass with a cloth, though it's not getting cleaner, and makes no effort to acknowledge your presence. It's as festive inside as it is on the outside. Marble pillars support the upper floor and the broken fans attached to them. The walls are quite decorated, only covered in a layer of ash dust. But ash dust covers everything in this Village. If not ash then dust. The tavern itself is almost full. The people inside probably work hard for their money most are middle class, but whoever they are, they do not pay much attention to Sylvari and Sarne. You did hear rumors about this tavern, supposedly it's infamous for something, but for the life of you, you can't remember what for. Though judging by the things and people you've seen, it can not be that bad. Sarne talked to a waitress walking by she gave a nod and they were shown to a booth and seated. Sarne sat across from Sylvari. The lighting was not bad and the table was clean which was nice. "So, how have you been? Sylvari, I have not seen you in some time," Sarne said with a slight smile. He was happy to see her again Sarne got word she was in the area and invited Sylvari for a drink.

Dragon's Cradle had seen no shortage of problems in the recent past, mostly as a result of the fallout from the events of Vulcadreus, and, as such, Sylvari had been attending the region quite a lot in her travels. Whether it was helping to rebuild homes, clear out awakened monsters, or simply to visit dear friends on her passage through to other lands, the justiciar had become well acquainted with Sky Peak Village, so she knew just where to go when her friend Sarne invited her to 'the tavern in Sky Peak'.
She'd been to the Black Rock Tavern dozens of times with friends and employers in celebration and bouts of reminiscing, and it was hard to deny the rustic edifice held a special place in the vampiress' heart. Her father always said that hard places built hard people, so Sylvari wasn't predisposed to judge harshly the suspicious stares and drawn expressions of the patrons. She could see the strength of spirit behind their perceived hostility. They were a people that had been through much, and had the emotional scars to prove it. Sylvari empathized and respected them, a consideration that was slowly extended to her as well as time wore on. Their acknowledgement wasn't so devoted as the ladies of the Crooked Moon in Sol City, nor as boisterous and jubilant as the taverns of Starlight City, but it was present all the same, a speck of warmth like an oasis in an emotional blizzard.
Thus, Sylvari was in high spirits for the locale and the company as she stepped up to take a seat beside her friend, flashing him a quick smile. "Too long, I daresay, dear Sarne. I have been as well as the path permits. I must admit, besides the pleasure of your invitation, I was drawn to the region with rumors of raiders approaching. Normally, I would be scandalized to admit such, but I have a sneaking suspicion that such might be the case for you as well." The vampiress gave an impish, probing grin, the warmth from her concealed crimson eyes clearly felt if not seen.

Sarne looked at Sylvari. "You are looking beautiful as ever and Yes, I have been drawn here and. I have my subordinates out now scouting for information," replied Sarne with a small smile to Sylvari. "To the Knights of Solaria evil is an affront to our faith; destroying an agent of evil is an Honor. There seems to be a lot of evil as of late," explained Sarne. "Though the Knights of Solaria become avengers when confronting evil, we are otherwise thoughtful and compassionate," stated Sarne continuing.
"So there is a balance in everything I must do for the people. But at one point in my life, people like you would have been in that category, evil. I have been dealing with that for years now. I saw that teaching was wrong. It is the heart that is more important than form or abilities. It is your actions that talk about the heart." replied Sarne looking down at the table and confessing.
"So I saw that we all have the ability to do evil in our actions even me. Now the teaching has changed and when I get my Grandfather's title from the king I will make that a new doctrine in the Knights of Solaria," explained Sarne with a small smile "So thank you for teaching me that." remarked Sarne.

Sylvari took Sarne's hand in her own, smiling with eminent kindness. "Please don't be too hard on yourself, dear. I was much the same as your family in regards to my viewing of the world, and my family also. It has been a hard road to accepting the wretched state I find myself in, and I still teeter on my worthiness day by day. The best I have managed so far is that my presence in the world might prevent more evil than it perpetuates. My soul may be damned, but I shall carry out my oath of justice until the gods see fit to lay me to final rest. Would that this condemned vessel could take upon it all the iniquity of the world so that peace and goodness would remain alone, but alas, I haven't quite figured out that trick."
Sylvari gave her friend an impish smile, a light blush on her cheeks at her lofty ideals. She quickly took a drink of the served ale, briefly forgetting her predisposition against mortal food, her face wrinkling up in disgust at the ashy liquid. Still, she grimaced and bore it, deciding the foul taste was a preferable alternative to the embarrassment of admitting her foolish mistake.

Sarne had a smile on his face as Sylvari held his hand. "My father and Grandfather always told me to fall back on the family traits of valor, chivalry, honesty, and compassion. If there is ever a question what is the right thing to do? These traits have served me well." admitted Sarne. "You are to kind to me. I wish I could repay your friendship better. I do have a surprise for you." Sarne said looking past Sylvari a waiter walked up giving them both wine goblets ornate and well-crafted.
The waiter placed the one in front of them gave a bow "My lord, My Lady," and left. The aroma and the look of the red wine were exquisite. But the smell of Sylvari was a different but still high quality it was blood. "My gift to you. Do not worry. All animals ordered for you." said Sarne warmly.
"I was told that most in your position can have this with no effect?" explained Sarne hopping Sylvari like the gift. Sarne had done months of studying and hoped he got it right. Sarne was going to use his own blood. But Sylvari could smell his blood in a frenzy and go after Sarne first not that He thought that would happen. Sarne did not know. Sarne was looking for a cure for Sylvari but all Sarne found was death. Sarne would not accept that for Sylvari. Sarne offered her what she might like.

Given Sylvari's veiled eyes, it was hard to gauge the true depths of her emotion, but her lips curled into a soft smile. "You're too darling, Lord Sarne. I imagine you went through no small amount of trouble for this... unorthodox request."
Sylvari gratefully took the goblet, lifting it reverently to her lips. She was surprised to find that the mixture contained the blood of magical creatures, so it would indeed slake her thirst, perhaps not as powerfully as mortal blood, but without the ethical complications. Well researched indeed. He must have put quite a bit of effort into this. I'm glad I brought something for him as well.
"It's divine, my friend. Thank you for your kind consideration. I actually have a gift for you as well. I was walking through the market stalls, happened upon this little item, and thought it just too perfect for us, given how our combat skills complement each other so finely."
Sylvari took a moment to fish a pair of rings, detailed with ornate, flowing script, identical in every way, say for a slight purple glow lighting the runes of one. "These are called eternity rings. Once you've attuned to them, and given them to a trusted friend, you're able to share emotions and even talents over vast distances. I've already imparted a bit of my essence into the one, as you can see. All that remains is to complete the ritual yourself, if you're so inclined."

Sarne's eyes lit up when Sylvari complemented the drink he had given Sylvari. He had never done anything like this for anyone so far. he was not sure how his parents would have felt over this gift. But that did not matter. Sarne was relieved that Sylvari liked it.
When Sylvari brought out a pair of rings, detailed with ornate, flowing script, identical in every way, say for a slight purple glow lighting the runes of one. Sarne's heart skipped a beat. Wait rings? He was about to say something when she said "Given them to a trusted friend." The statement made Sarne realize where Sarne was and how Sarne felt.
Sarne said nothing at first thinking he slowly took the ring he had to imprint. "I would be happy to do my part," said Sarne as he took the ring in his hand. Sarne closed his hand and mumbled some words. The light lit up his hand from the inside it glowed a crimson red. Light leaked out between his fingers for a moment then faded.
Sarne handed back the ring. "I am so honored no one has done this for me before. I am not sure what to say" as He looks at the ring given to him by Sylvari. "I am at a loss for words. I will cherish this ring always," He said putting it on. He was deeply moved by Sylvari's gift.
He took a sip of his wine and smiled still stunned at the gift. "I hope this means we write now and them to one other or even you can stop by the Keep." He paused remembering Sylvari had a place of her own. "I heard you have a Crescent Isles Manor. Some call it a cathedral is what I have heard," inquired Sarne still looking at the ring and sipping his wine.

Sylvari grinned impishly, leaning against Sarne slightly. "It's a small token for a man who has saved my life on more than one occasion, but I'm glad you like it, nonetheless."
With the implications of the ring made readily apparent as Sylvari slipped on the crimson band he had handed back, Sylvari's blush rivaled her crimson eyes. She could indeed feel his gratitude for the gift, his wonder at the little item, even his burgeoning fondness for her. She was quick to stammer out a clarifying statement. "P-please don't think it's mandatory to wear at all times. Only when it's useful to you. I don't think you can turn off the emotive sharing and I wouldn't subject anyone else to the monsters of my mind..."
Sylvari trailed off, embarrassment making her tongue too tied for further words. She was truly happy for Sarne's companionship, but she was worried about what his family would think of their association. Worse, she was worried that they were right.
Thankfully, Sarne's comments about home visits drew her from her inner thoughts, but it was out of the frying pan and into the proverbial fire for the vampiress, whose cheeks flared in renewed shyness. "I have something of a standing arrangement with a friend in Sol City, but I should be able to stop by to visit. And of course, you're always welcome at Paladin's Rest."

"Thank you" replied Sarne sipping his wine. " In Sol City when you are there. You can come to the Grey Citadel of Solaria. My keep is inside. If you remember the coin I gave you. Show it and you will escorted straight to my Keep and automatically my gest. Even if I am not there you can stay any time." said Sarne confidently. "My subordinates and staff know mostly about you but not everything." explained Sarne "It is the same with all my close friends the few I have," confessed Sarne now looking away from Sylvari.
Sarne seems distracted staring at the entrance. "Naesala?" mumbled Sarne looking a tad confused. "Something is wrong, Naesala one of my subordinates is signaling me. I told them I did not want to be disturbed," said Sarne now looking uneasy. Sarne gave a nod in that direction and Naesala disappeared from the doorway. "Would you like to go for a walk perhaps?" asked Sarne with a charming smile.
