"Yes, that was an oversight on both our parts." Lucian agreed, still frustrated over the dirt clinging to his expensive jacket. "It especially sucks since this is really the only set of clothes I brought with me."
Yes, the draconynh had forgotten to bring any other clothes with him when leaving his home island. It was... rather embarrassing in hind sight. Of course you would pack other clothes with you if you're going to leave home for long periods of time! But he had been rushed out the door by the other nobles, only really able to pack a few things before being shipped off on a boat to effectively who knows where. And, of course, one of the things he had forgotten were any changes of clothes.
And then he remembered that he had the Summon: Possession spell. Oceans below, he was an idiot! He could have just summoned more of his clothes from home at any time!
He waded over to the banks of the stream, before beginning the spell. Sparks of light danced within his claws, altering the space around them. It took more effort, considering he was summoning from a further distance that he was used to. A much further distance. Before, he was just summoning from maybe a stone's throw away from his target. But now? He was trying to summon from leagues away.
After a couple of minutes, he managed to summon a couple more sets of clothes. He let out a quiet exclamation of excitement at this turn of events, before setting the new clothes on the grass to prevent them from getting dirty.

Rena blinks as she watches Lucian work the spell, then grins, standing up out of the water and wading over to the far side. She takes a moment to put a stretch of brush between the two of them - personally, she got over that flavor of embarrassment mostly due to the Clans of the Valley of Crows preferring communal bathing - before Summoning a change of clothes for herself. she promptly peels off the soaked and still slightly mudstained dress and blouse, spares a moment to wipe the remaining water from her gloriously waterproof feathers, and pulls on the new pair over her still-waterlogged undergarments. that...might get uncomfortable eventually? eh, it'll be fine. worst case she gets pruney in a couple of awkward spots. in the meantime...messing with her newest friend might be in order...
...so it is that, with mischief in her silver eyes, the crow picks up her dress and blouse winds back, and hurls the clothes at the back of the draconynh's head before ducking back behind the brush, suppressing her giggles as she hears the twin, offset smacks of ballistic clothing impacting with her guest.
She creeps to the side, peaking through a gap in the brush to gauge the draconynh's reaction...

Poor Lucian was oh so excited about figuring out the limits of his spell, only to get hit with Rena's wet clothes. They hit him with a wet smack, causing him to fall over onto his face by the force of the twin attacks. His snout hit the ground first, following by the rest of his body with a thud.
It took him a few moments to register what just happened, as the wet clothes soaked into the ground behind him. Once he did, he immediately let out a yell.
"OCEANS CURSE IT RENA!"
The draconynh slowly pushed himself back up and got back into a standing position. It took him a moment to re-balance due to his weight and center of balance. The first thing he did, though, was not going after Rena, but instead picking up the wet clothes. He began to wring the water out of them, muttering to himself.
"At least squeeze the water out first, if these are left to sit, they're going to get covered in mildew..." He spoke, squeezing out the water before setting the clothes up to dry.

Rena breaks down at that point, letting out a loud, wild cackling laugh interspersed with chirps and trills as she struggles to stand, silver eyes dancing with mirth. She does manage to stand eventually, grinning as she strolls out from behind the brush and humming softly, “...so, anyhoo, what’re we thinkin’? Trainin’ or movin’ stuff back? Personally, I’m of a mind to get some more practice in”
The crow frowns, looking over the river spanning the distance between herself and her guest, “...though I may not have thought things all the way through…’old on…” before turning around and striding a few meters away before turning back, flexing her taloned bird-feet to cause her skates to spring out, and proceeding to zip forward before leaping across the flowing water and skidding to a stop a few feet from shore.
She grins, flexing her toes again to retract the skates even as she lets out a triumphant chirp, "there we go! now, where were we? somethin' 'bout a decision?" the crow tilts her head at the draconynh as she speaks, silver eyes still dancing with a hint of mirth and mischief as she spares a few moments to Summon each of her bayonets to hand before slipping them up her sleeves one by one.

Lucian turned around to try to listen to Rena, hearing her speak from across the river but not being able to understand what she was saying due to the distance. The fins on his face even seemed to move in a way to let him listen better. He relaxed a little once she had gotten over to his side of the stream, though, as now he could actually hear her better.
“Training, I want to do training.” He said excitedly, his tail swishing back and forth rapidly almost like a dog’s. He seemed to have recovered easily from the prank, as his elation at the new discovery of his capabilities didn’t abate.
His success at summoning his clothes from a very far distance had excited and incentivized him enough to want to practice the spell more. He could actually get a lot of important things he’d need for staying on the Crescent Isle from his home, after all! And since distance only seemed to impact how difficult the spell was to pull off, he could in theory get many of his prized possessions back from his home.
“I may have discovered that the Summon: Possession spell can summon things from great distances!” He exclaimed. “If I practice it more, I should be able to summon many of my things from back home! And, then, if I practice it enough, I wouldn’t have to worry about having left something in another land entirely!”

Rena smiles, trilling softly and moving to head back to the clearing her little burrow is situated in, “alrighty! I’ll get us set up with a couple o’ targets, then!”
And she does exactly that; it’s rather simple work to lug a couple of practice targets from within the burrow over to the far side of the clearing from the hill, humming softly to herself as she skates back to check on her guest, eyes alight with…excitement isn’t the right word, but anticipation at the prospect of getting some more practice in with her newest spell.
“Alright, we’re all set up! Get ready t’work that tail o’yours off, Luci!” the crow grins, spinning on one of her skates to head right back to the clearing so she can start up her own training.
it's...hard. the throws get a little easier, Rena encouraging Lucian to prioritize aim over power until he can at least knock his blades against the center of the target reliably, "precision's usually more important, anyhoo. goin' for a weak spot requires less power than it does accuracy, an' the whole point o' these knives is weak points. even with all the power in the world, y're still better off goin' for the eyes or the throat with a small blade like what you've got. 'ell, even my bayonets are better suited for precise strikes when I throw 'em"

Lucian nodded at her words, continuing to try his best at throwing the knives at the targets. Slowly but surely, he's becoming more accurate with them. He'd probably never reach Rena's level of skill, but it would at least be enough for him to defend himself in a case where his magic wouldn't be as helpful. The summoning back of the knives, however, was becoming near instantaneous. It was clear that his skills lay more in magic, rather than physical prowess.
Between knife throws, he thought about how to best train the summoning spell to try to reach its very limits. If he could learn how to instantaneously summon any of his items from extremely long distances within a short amount of time, it would come in handy. One benefit, of course, would be getting back his possessions from his home land. It would allow him to actually travel without worrying about forgetting things. On the other, it also meant that he could instantly summon any weapons he owned to his hands if he was in danger.
It... may even help Rena, potentially, should he learn how to master the spell enough, and if she learned as well. If someone were to steal her bayonets, she'd be able to summon them back right away. And, if there were more bayonets, the spell could be used to bring them to her.

Rena hums softly, flinging her own blades at the second target, summoning them back each time she runs out. She’s getting faster, but it’s not enough. She’s not sure it’ll ever be enough. But…this helps. More tools is always good. And…and each time she resummons her blades, she feels a whisper of her husband’s hand on hers, the spell seemingly skipping through most of itself as the magic bends under the combined intent of husband and wife…
…she smiles softly, continuing her practice with a fervent intent as she hurls and summons her blades again and again, each repeat of the spell coming easier to her as she moves, grinning almost manically as she begins to spin and dance through each throw of her bayonets.
it's about then that she slips with a yelp, falling on her back as the two blades in her hands go spinning into the air before slamming into the dirt...on either side of her. Her eyes are wide, breaths still as she processes exactly what just happened, "...w-well...alrighty then..." she mumbles, carefully summoning those blades back to her hands so she can sit up without risking any wounds, "...yep, okay, practice knives for that sort of thing"

Lucian watched as Rena spun around with her blades before falling back first onto the ground. He couldn't help but let out a small, amused laugh at seeing this. At least it seemed like Rena was having fun with the exercise. His own excitement primarily manifested in the rapid movement of his tail going back and forth, thankfully not messing with his balance too much.
"Yeah, it would certainly be better to use practice knives if you want to learn how to incorporate dance into your fighting style," he agreed, amusement in his voice as he joked. "Just to make sure, though, are you alright after that fall?" He asked, slight concern in his voice, even if he knew that Rena was likely just fine.
He couldn't help but smile, though, admiring how fast Rena was mastering the spell. He was happy that he could at least help, or, well, teach somebody something new with his meager skills. Ever since he came here, he's felt a bit... lacking compared to Rena, knowing that others in this land likely are as strong as she is, and therefore much stronger than him. Well, it won't matter so long as he doesn't cause any issues for anyone and slowly grows stronger, whether that be with others' help, or training on his own.

Rena chuckles softly, stretching a little and dusting herself off after sheathing her bayonets once again before beginning to move toward the edge of the clearing, “...yeah, I’m fine. Just embarrassed and far luckier than I deserve. As for the practice knives…’s more that I’ve got a theory as to why this spell is coming so easily…” even as she speaks she’s icing over a bayonet to hack a limb off a tree, which she lugs over to the porch of her burrow so she can carve out a practice bayonet in the comfort of her rocking chair, humming softly to herself as she works.
It takes a good few hours for her to finish the practice bayonet to her satisfaction, softly trilling and chirping all the while, an idly planted bayonet on the railing before her allowing her to see her husband reflected next to her as she works…it seems almost like he’s gently guiding her hands as she works. But eventually the work is done, and she has a decently sharp bayonet meticulously carved from wood.
A quick bit of focus coats the wooden blade in deep black, sharpened Permafrost before she moves back to the training range to hurl the new blade into her target. This time when she attempts to resummon it, it takes several seconds and leaves her shuddering in exhaustion once again, “...the-thought so…Bell’s making it easier to summon the blades he forged for me. I cannae afford t’get reliant on that, though…”

During the hours Rena spent on carving the practice bayonet, Lucian had been practicing the spell quite a bit himself. Growing a bit weary of continuing to throw his knives, he had begun to practice by summoning more of his possessions from his home. It had taken some time, but now he had more clothes to wear than he had upon his arrival to the Crescent Isle. He moved them into a satchel once he was done, magically exhausted by the effort. However, he had managed to get the time required for such a long distance down to only a minute or two depending on the size of the item!
Now that he was taking a break, he watched Rena attempt to practice the spell with the wooden blade. He hummed softly to himself, taking in her observation. Being restricted to only being able to summon her main bayonets quickly would certainly be a problem.
“Well, it might be best to practice with other tools in your arsenal, then. Ones that aren’t currently being haunted by your partner’s presence, mind you.” He pointed out, before realizing that statement might have been a bit rude. “…My apologies there.”
He continued to speak. “Anyways, is there anything else you use often that may assist you in this case? Or, better yet… Perhaps a way to imagine the spell that may make it easier? You mentioned that your partner’s helping you, so perhaps imagining that your partner is kindly getting an item for you? I… assume that’s a thing in romantic relationships, where a partner will often retrieve something for the other upon request.”

Rena chuckles softly, silver eyes glancing over at the draconynh as she trills, “...I know. just…I find it easiest to work one thing as close to perfection as I can reasonably get before moving on to the next. something to do with the way my mind parses things, I suppose,” even as she speaks she’s resummoning the iced over wooden blade before flicking it into the target once more as she considers Lucian’s words, “...that is very much a thing, though perhaps less common than one might hope. too many couples jump into things without looking to see whether they click properly. many times it doesn’t matter, rough edges being smoothed away…but sometimes things turn toxic. anyhoo…that could work, but…I doubt it. Bell is…very much confined to the blades he made me, and even that is likely due to the specific manner in which he forged the steel…”
The crow trills quietly, summoning and hurling the practice blade over and over again, each time checking over the layer of sharp black ice that covers the blade to prove durability and cutting power. she nods a little, smiling as she examines her work, "...this one will hold up for a good long while, I think.." there's a dull thunk as the wooden bayonet slams home into the center of the target she's beem abusing...the poor thing looks rather ragged at this point, full of frost-rimmed holes.

Lucian nodded a little at her words, humming in thought. To each their own, he supposed. People learned differently. At least Rena will have perfected summoning her bayonets within a small amount of time, which should hopefully be enough for whatever Rena needed. He'd personally rather master summoning a variety of things at the moment, which he seemed to be rapidly improving at. It was such a useful spell outside of combat, especially now that he could summon his possessions that he left behind back at home.
The draconynh listened to Rena speak about her perspective and experience with romance. To be fair, he never really bothered too much with romance in the first place? It wasn't that he didn't feel romantic feelings, is that he barely had any interactions with people anyways. Besides, romance as a noble was rather... pointless to pursue when he was likely to get married off at some point regardless. However, it wasn't any of Rena's business, so he stayed quiet about it.
He gestured a clawed hand at the target, noticing how worn-down it looked. "It might be a good idea to replace soon. It might actually break at this rate, considering how damaged it is. And then it wouldn't be useful at all."

The crow woman trills softly, summoning her ice coated practice blade one last time, shifting to set it on the railing of her porch before moving to take down the target she’d been using, “...ah, but you’re a noble. Continuing the bloodline and the legacy therein - or just the legacy, as I suppose it is in your case - is more important than such petty things as love and happiness. It’s a small wonder that most noble-born are such small, pitiful creatures. Makes me wonder…” she shakes her head, chuckling quietly and softly sighing, “...no matter. The mistakes of my brother should stay in the past. He wanted that doomed title far more than I, and in the end he was welcome to it. And in any case, it was his decision to usurp my place in succession that ultimately led me to my husband, so perhaps I ought to thank him for it”
Rena shakes her head again, dismissing the notion for the silliness it is, “...ha. No. ‘twas naught more than luck that brought me to my Tolling Bell. my fool of a brother - may he forever bae’n’hi1 - was nothing more than the tool of that wonderful fate,” the crow hums softly, then frowns and glances back to Lucian, “...ah…it occurs to me that our tea has been left to sit. And it’s about time for a proper meal in any case. What do you think of a meal in town? It’s not too far, and the burrow isn’t exactly in any state for a meal…”

Lucian let out a quiet huff of annoyance at Rena's words. If he had fur or feathers, he'd be bristling right now. Instead, his fins were bristling for him. His tail swished behind him slowly like that of a cat's, showing his mild distaste at her comment.
"Not all nobles think that way," he countered. "Some have no other choice than to be married off to continue their lineage, despite any wishes they have for love. It's a sacrifice made over petty nonsense. And, yet, it's important for the sake of maintaining relations and ties and making sure that power stays within a noble family and... ugh. It's utter foolishness on the part of such a government. It's a lesser burden compared to the one faced by the common folk, but it's still something that is... annoying."
He let out an exhale, trying his best to let go of the annoyance. That was a bit of a rant, after all, but one he felt like needed to be stated. Normally he'd apologize for such a thing, but he had no regrets about stating that. He did his best to let it go, fins slowly relaxing and going back to their normal state.
"Yes, a meal out would be good. I could certainly eat," he stated, trying to get the conversation back on track.
