Quest Name: Hearth and Home Participants: Two or more Location: Dragon's Cradle, (Hearthside Village) Post Requirements: 4 post per person, 200 words per post Reward: +1 Renown Description: A new village is being constructed on the border between Dragon's Cradle and Zeinav and the region is in need of helping hands. Due to the increased flow of people fleeing the Ash Lands, Dragon's Cradle has become a hub for refugees and has decided to put their resources to good use, building a new village to further increase the region's economy and social standing with their neighbors to the south. An open call has been issued to anyone who would like to help out. Things like constructing buildings, stables or fences, the digging of trenches or wells and collecting supplies like lumber or food are all task that are in need of assistance. Whatever you have to offer, Hearthside Village will accept!
Sarne had flown over Hearthside village. It was a mess it looked like a war zone some people were still in shock others cleaning what they had left some people helping others. The recovery seems to be somewhat organized. Sarne Landed Screech outside of the Village so he would not scare people. Sarne started to walk checking out where Sarne could be of help. Sarne asked who was in charge. They pointed out a Hearthside Village chief walking with some other man who just arrived. Looking him over gave Sarne a bad feeling this was a man like a fish out of water. Sane looked around as he placed his hand on the hilt of his sword resting his hand. The man did not seem to be too involved yet. The man is very muscular a male triton who stands average height for the most part. He had a shirt that was open and loose exposing his gills. He has long wavy hair that reaches to his waist. the man wearing a multicolored flower-patterned bandana on his forehead keeping his hair back. Wearing a singular belt diagonally around his chest his shorts and white sandals with black straps were shocking to Sarne. The only normal thing to Sarne was the Quarter Staff he was carrying. Sarne walked up to the two men. He eyed the male triton man but talked to the Town leader. "I am Sarne Sequoia Lord of Grey Stone Keep, Captain of the Black Wolves Hunters," Sarne said with a slight bow of his head intruding himself. " How can I help?" he asked offering wondering what he could do for them.

Vonoros went to Hearthside Village with a single goal in mind, to help very little and ride on the efforts of the other workers to cash his solars and be down with it. He wasn't expecting to help much if all the tritons just wanted easy money and pretending to build houses seemed the easiest way to earn it. When he arrived he was a little worried seeing as it looked like even the people working there seemed to be lost, disorganized, and as lazy as him.
“Dammit”, the triton thought, “Looks like these guys got the idea first, I swear I’m gonna be pissed if I have to do some work”.
He decided to just get this whole thing over with and headed straight toward the foreman of the construction project to ask what he’d be doing since he wanted to help.
“Alright kid, since you seem so capable and we’re a little behind schedule right now I’m gonna have you build your own house just for the sake of time”.
Vonoros nodded quietly but was screaming in his mind, “Dammit”, he thought as he nodded and said, “Got it”, and walked over to the job site.
The foreman told Sarne what he needed arms with, “Cool to meet ya kid go help fish brains over there make a house”.

Sarne looked questionably at the Foreman. "Watch your tone with me. I am not just some ditch digger. I am a Lord. I can easily just turn the supplies have coming to another village. If you ask people to help you should be a bit nicer about it Foreman." said Sarne in a stern but polite tone.
Sarne looked around then let out a sigh "I can see your leadership is lacking as well by the way this place is trying to rebuild." Commented Sarne with a grin. He looked back at the foreman. "I will do as requested. Remember to ask next time, Foreman," said Sarne turning to walk away not waiting for a reply.
Walking over to where Vonoros was. Sarne could see there was wood and other building materials all in a pile. walking up to the triton. "I am sure your name is not Fish for brains as the Forman called you. I am Sarne some call me Lord Sarne" said Sarne looking at the ground where the house was to be built. Keeling down he touched the dirt and made a face of disappointment. Standing Sarne walked over an looked at the wood. "Yes bad planing indeed, lots of supplies" said Sarne witha frown. "No tools, this place is just great." comments Sarne. "Your Name?" Asked Sarne looking the Triton.

Vonoros walked over to the supposed house site and was already put in a bad mood by the foreman’s expectations.
“Really? That guy expects me to have an entire house finished by myself? No tools on site, just a bunch of building materials? I was already expecting a bad time here but this is even worse than I could have thought”, the triton man was complaining loudly, not caring if anyone around him heard.
He was not particularly well versed in the art of construction having mostly left the ship repairs and maintenance to his other fellow apprentice pirates during his time onboard the Black Dragon Pirates. He then held a block of wood he found nearby and started thinking how he would possibly even start this when his train of thought was interrupted. He stood up as he heard someone exclaim towards him.
He turned and saw a noble-looking man and got up slowly hearing his comment, “Yeah, ignore that pest of a foreman, names not Fish-for-Brains my names Vonoros nice to meet you Sarne dude. I hope you have more building experience than I do or both of us are kinda screwed and out of a bag of solars".

Sarne chuckled "Vonoros is it," commented Sarne looking over the building materials. "By the expression on your face you know about as much as I do about building a house," said Sarne picking up a piece of wood. " Not even good wood," stated Sarne with some disgust. "There are other things we could do. Constructing stables or fences, digging trenches or wells, and collecting supplies like lumber or food are all tasks that need some assistance," advised Sarne with a sly smile.
The Foreman came over looking at the two "What your hands too good for this type of work?" the man shouted at Sarne and Vonoros. Sarne shook his head "Don't be like that Foreman you will find there are those who will not be happy with the way you address me," warned Sarne. The, don't, seem to be for someone else Sarne was looking past the Foreman.
"What did you say Nodal brat and fish for brains? I will talk to you any way I won't I am the Elder's son." said the man with contempt and anger in his voice. Then he froze and looked wide-eyed as a Dwarf appeared behind him with what looked like fighting knives in his hands. With two others beside him three in all. The Dwarf's voice was raspy sounding without emotion calm with no empathy in his eyes almost freighting tone in his voice looking demonic and Cold like life itself meant nothing.
"If you say one more thing to My Lord Captain in that tone I will cut out your tongue and hang it on display for others to see what happens to people who disrespect My Lord Captain." The Dwarf warned the Formen.
Sarne sighed "Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir. Don't, kill him because of his ignorance," Sarne said in a firm commanding tone. "Foreman, I would advise that you go somewhere else to supervise here is not a healthy place to be for you," warned Sarne politely.
"Ye...sss, I will..." the Forman started to say it looked like Nordic the dwarf twisted his blade some. "Yes, My Lord" The Foreman replied. Then was pushed by Nordic the Foreman stumbled away. They all gave a bow to Sarne and Vonoros. "With your permission, we will return to our duties Captain," said Nordic.
Sarne waved them off. Then chuckled as they disappeared into the shadows of the buildings. "Good people to have on your side," remarked Sarne with a smile. "Now, Vonoros, collecting supplies like lumber or food sound more to your liking?" asked Sarne

Vonoros nodded in agreement at the other man’s comments, “Yep, know almost nothing about making houses. All this sounds like good ideas after all anything gonna be better than this”, he motioned to the messy pile of supplies next to him.
“You’re the boss dude, just lemme know what I can do to help and I’ll do it, as much as I can..
Vonoros was about to walk away in search of the pens but was stopped in his tracks only a few feet away from his new companion. He sheepishly stayed quiet intending for Sarne to do most of the talking as he listened intently.
He was about to speak up for himself and Sarne when suddenly the rude and overestimating boss they were talking to shrank even smaller as the other man’s companions popped up and decided to mess with him threatening him if he tried something with the noble-looking fellow.
"I couldn’t help but agree Yep if you don’t get good people under ‘ya then you won’t make it far as an adventurer. I can work on lumber and food both sound easy enough”, the triton says as he waves Sarne goodbye intent on taking a quick look at the things around them to cook and collect.

As Vonoros was walking away Sarne shook his head and realized by looking at the triton he had no real intention of wanting to do anything. Sarne smiled thinking I had seen his kind before. I did not get placed as Captain because of Sarne's good looks. "Hay Vonoros, I think we need a little teamwork on this," remarked Sarne.
walking up to Vonoros Sarne looked at Vonoros. "Did you think it was that easy? what do you know about hunting?" asked Sarne with a crafty smile. Sarne knew the answer just by looking at Vonoros. Sarne wanted to hear his reply was going to be first. Sarne did see a lot of families here and not a lot of cooking which meant people were going hungry as a noble. Sarne has seen this before. The kids running around were poorly clothed. their eyes were sink in some from malnutrition. You could see their ribs and bony arms. This bothered Sarne in a lot of ways.
Sarne looked around again as he waited for Vonoros's answer. To see what would be best to get for food or what Sarne would be best to hunt around here. There were a lot of options some better than others.

Vonoros stopped in his tracks and looked back as he heard Sarne’s voice, a little irritated that the man most likely caught on to his master's lazy plan.
He shook his head and said, “I don’t know man, I think I got this cooking, and getting wood doesn’t seem so hard. It looks easy enough trust me dude as for hunting I have some experience although usually dealing with larger targets”, he chuckled as he said the last part of his joke referring to his occupation as an assassin.
He then glanced around at Sarnes's eyes following them and looking around at the sorry sight before him. Looking at the poor malnourished people softened the triton man’s cold unfeeling heart for once. He knew what it was like to starve so much to the point your stomach hurts and hurts like no other pain. He sighed he knew he had to make food, not for the other workers of course but for the poor people in need of food.
He looked over to Sarne and said, “Don’t worry dude I swear that I’ll get the job done” and he walked away into the woods to gather ingredients.

"I will hold you to your word, Vonoros," stated Sarne. "I will get a large pot of water going. I think stew would be best and feed the most. Then I will go out and see what I might find hunting." suggested Sarne looking into the woods.
Sarne watched Vonoros walk into the woods and said nothing else. Turning he went back into Hearthside Village. and started to find what he needed to get everything ready. Sarne knew it would not be the best-tasting food out there. It was something that the people could eat. It was a lot of work getting everything into place with the help of his retainers they managed to get the cast iron cauldron set up.
The Hearthside Village people started to know what Sarne was doing and took an interest in it. Sarne got the fire going and started to get the cast iron cauldron warmed up. they had got some vegetables and chopped them up and a few other things they were able to put in the Stew.
With everything stated Sarne walked into the forest himself. It did take him a little time before he found some Dragon's Cradle rabbits that were different from most rabbits they had small ears and tails with scales. they were not as fast but had a nasty bite. Sarne hunted them for it seemed an hour straping some and using his bow for some others. Sarne headed back his catch to Hearthside Village to complete what he had planned. Arriving he prepared the meat and started to cook it.

"Damn this is gonna be such a drag dumb innocent villagers making me feel bad for being a lazy bum", the triton said as he continued forward.
Vonoros kept walking until he entered the clearing around the middle of the forest and stood pulling out his coral lance from his back sling. Deciding that it would be more effective than his quarterstaff or bladed fan for hunting he then stood still not moving a single inch breathing as slowly as he could. He closed his eyes, focusing on just listening to the woods as he stood..nothing ... nothing…loud footsteps.
He quickly opened his eyes and sprinted in the direction he heard the footsteps, his lance in hand as he sprinted forward. As he saw the figure in front of him revealed to be a deer buck he chucked his coral lance into the back of his head killing him on the spot.
He smiled feeling accomplished at his task carrying it back to the clearing he then proceeded to hunt a decent pile of animals including rabbit, deer, and duck. He then threw all of his prizes over his shoulder and started walking outside the forest back to the camp.

Standing over the large cast iron cauldron. Sarne was stringing it cooking the soup slowly. Sarne had added what he could to it the taste was not much but it was food. kids started to gather looking on with hungry eyes. There were noises from their stomachs their mouth dry and being fidgety with anticipation of the soup.
Sarne looked up to see Vonoros walking with a great deal of meat on his shoulders. Sarne felt like he had not done enough looking at Vonoros. "Vonoros, You outdid me. That is Good! You held up your word. I know you would," Sarne said out loud calling for Vonoros to come over. The kids Saw Vonoros walking there eyes got big looking at the animals he was carrying they started to talk about him saying what a great hunter Vonoros is.
Sarne chuckles looking at Vonoros. "Looks like you have a watchful gathering." says Sarne still adding some things to the soup. It was starting to smell like something. now something good enough to eat.
Sarne looked out at the now forming crowd "People! Women, children, and elderly first then the men" yelled Sarne "Get in a line families stay together." Sarne contenued. "If you have a problem with my instructions Vonoros! will help you understand," finished Sane as the people did what Sarne instructed. With the serving lines started and the food done food was being served to the people.

“Yeah, yeah whatever man, I told ya I’d get the job done”, the triton man shrugs but he was at least happy on the inside that he was able to get a lot of meat for the kids and people here.
He then walked over towards the man and handed him the meat he’d hunted before just standing around a bit caught off guard. He’d never usually been praised and spoken about in a good tone before. Usually when people spoke about the triton it was followed by a warning or a threat so this was a new experience.
He chuckles softly as he hears Sarne’s remark, “Yeah thanks, hopefully, all the twerps and people like it. Hell I’m sure with your obvious cooking skill everyone here's gonna have some good food in their stomachs”.
He then sighed as he walked over guarding the line motioning for people to walk forward and get their food making sure everyone got their fair share. After getting a bowl for himself and greedily downing it quickly he puts it down and meets up with Sarne one final time.
He places his hand into a ball and points it towards Sarne, “Fist bump dude I’m out, I got paid already by the foreman, and work here’s done, it was cool meeting ya. Hopefully our paths cross again. I’d like to have some of that cooking of yours again”, he chuckles before walking away towards a place to nap in the woods.
