The last week had been a very successful one for the young chemist, having managed to finally get her base of operations up and going in the swamp. She had long wanted to move out this way and operate under the freedom that the Marsh Flats offered and now that the dream was a reality, she could breath a sigh of relief. Things were beginning to look up for Plague, and it would not be long before her plan came into full view. Before she could enact her next phase however, a visit with her dear friend fate was needed.
Her life had a habit of reaching really high highs, or reaching really low lows, and as she was just recently coming off from a high, it was time to experience a low. She had somehow managed to get lost in the thick portion of the bog, an area she thought she knew better. The sun had already begun to set, casting the murky swamp into a shadow, with a layer of mist drifting through the twisted and gnarled trees. This would not be the first time Plague had gotten lost in these woods, or had to sleep overnight in them, and knew well enough what night was like in the bog.
It had been an hour since she had last saw a familiar land mark, her olive green leather jumpsuit knee deep in the muck and mud. Beads of sweat carried dirt down her face as her breath began to get warm and stale, creating a layer of humidity within her plague doctors mask. A large leather satchel that bore similar patches and sew marks as her jumpsuit hung from her side, containing many bottle, flask and jars. She was struggling to navigate the marsh, spending long moments trudging through the mud. Night was settling in fast, camp a must before the darkness swallowed her whole.

The only reason Veran wasn't lost was that he had no real direction at the moment. His memories still absent, the skeleton had the barest of notions with which to identify, and as such mostly wandered aimlessly. He found himself deep in the midst of a bog in the area the he had overheard a passerby refer to as the "Marsh Flats." Sloshing through the muck, not much cared to bother with him, considering his current state of undeath. Though, the undead paladin did wonder as to whether or not the creature recent rumors have been cropping up about would ignore him like the rest of the denizens of the bog thus far, or if it would act aggressive towards him as well.
On this particular day of his traversal of the Marsh Flats, Veran just so happened to see a person in the distance, seemingly struggling to walk in the muck of the swamp. Trudging his way towards the individual, Veran meant to offer his assistance, despite knowing that he risked a negative reaction to himself should the person discover what he was. The living didn't tend to be too trusting of the dead. Veran couldn't blame them, he wouldn't either; it was simply common sense, and he knew it. Thus, the skeleton made sure to keep his bones covered by his robes so as to hide his physical condition.

The sucking, slurping sound of mud could be heard with every giant, exhausting foot step Plague made, having to spend several minutes per step to pull her tiny, weak legs from the quick sand like muck. She was burning more energy than this trip was even worth, and would need to find a nice dry spot to camp at soon, or risk passing out in the pitch black swamp with no energy left to even defend herself. The trek was so distracting that she barely heard the mysterious stranger approaching from her side, completely zoned in on her own task. It was not until they were in a close enough proximity that the young alchemist noticed another presence. Her right arm quickly shot into her satchel, gloved fingers wrapping around a random bottle of unknown liquid as she prepared to fight. She hated being taken by surprise.
"I have no clue who you are mister, but I have a bomb in this bag and if you come any closer I will happily blow us both sky high."
The stranger was hard to see, shrouded by the setting sun with the help of the large black cloak that was wrapped around their body. She could not tell if this was a man, a woman, a human or any other strange kind of creature she had become accustomed to seeing in the Marsh Flats. Regardless of who they were, Plague was ready for anything, and was not afraid to fight this unknown entity if she had to.
"Look, I have had a long day, and this swamp is a pain in the ass to get through. So if you are here for any malicious reason, how about we wait until tomorrow, let me get some rest, then you can try and kill me in the morning? How does that sound?"

It would seem that Veran had been prudent to make sure his appearance was hidden, even here in the swamps and bogs of the March Flats. The person sounded like a young woman, but like Veran she had most of her physical form covered too, most notably by a peculiar mask Veran had never seen before. It's shape was interesting, reminding him of the beaks of birds; he pondered over whether it served a purpose other than just simply for aesthetics. She clutched something tightly in her overcoat, announcing it to be a bomb and threatening both of their lives should he come any closer... though, considering Veran's condition, he surprised himself when he absent-mindedly pondered what was actually lethal to him now.
Shaking his head more so to simply clear his head rather than truly respond, Veran instead slowly raised both arms into what he hoped would appear as a non-threatening stance. Soon after he brought his left hand down to point at himself as he verbally added "Help... y...you..." and then pointed at the mud her feet were currently stuck in. "Not... hu...hurt... you...
Hopefully, Veran wouldn't have to find out what it was like to be on the "business end" of a bomb.

Her small, gloved fingers wrapped tighter around the glass bottle, quickly reacting to the movements of the stranger. Whatever this thing was had just raised both of its hands as if to signal, not dangerous, but Plague was skeptical. Too many times had she hesitated over those arms going up, only to learn it was a trap. Before she could react however, something odd stuck out to the girl. From behind her cracked goggles, Plague saw what she thought was exposed bone, like a skeleton arm. It was brief and quick, but she saw it, which explained why this person was wearing a cloak after all.
"Hey! What the shit was that? I saw your bones, are you a ZOMBIE?!"
Her grip loosened, fear turned into joy as the girl tried so very hard to pull herself from the mud. If what she had just seen was real, than this thing was some kind of dead guy, and that excited Plague. She moved as fast as she could, which was not very fast, trying to close in on the cloaked thing, which had gone back to covering themselves up. Plague had seen a lot of dead bodies, but only a few that had come back to life, and every instance had been just as exciting as the first.
"Come on man, I wanna see, show me ya bones boney man."
Two massive, heavy foot steps brought her only a tad closer, but she no longer cared. Her new objective was this stranger and all the curious questions that came with them.

Oh no. Oh no no. No no no n- Veran panicked when the girl asked if he was a zombie; he had forgotten about the tear in his sleeve, it had cost him. Turning, he started to run. He didn't want to have to fight or hurt someone innocent, at least as far as he knew, but funnily enough in even undeath Veran was still incredibly motivated to survive. If it came down to him or- He shook the thought from his head; it wouldn't come to that, he could just run away, though he wished he could have stayed and helped instead. Except, the next words the girl exclaimed caused Veran to pause in both thought and motion, as he turned back to face her in disbelief of what he was hearing. "Bo...ney... man...?" Tentatively, Veran approached her and reached his arm out, extending it for her to grab. As soon as she did, he would yank her out of the mud and set her on her feet. After her feet touched the ground once more Veran would step back, ready to fend off a surprise assault. Someone being excited about his physical state was new to him.
