Everett lets Cypress take his hand, curious as to if she's going to drag him off to look at something else. His brows furrow as she shoves her leather coin purse into his palm then explains that she's giving him what's left of her funds.
His first thought is to refuse Cypress' offer. She's just a child and she's already done so much for a random stranger she found washed up on shore in the middle of the night. When he thinks about it, it sounds like the start of some horror story. But as the weight of the coin purse settles in his hand, the rational part of his brain kicks in telling him not to refuse. While he may not feel particularly proud of accepting Cypress' money, the funds would help him immensely given something is far better than nothing.
The coin purse feels so much heavier in his hand than it is, as if the weight of his shame of having to rely on a charitable handout is added to each coin he has not earned himself. His stomach churns again, both from the hunger but also from the embarrassment burning at the tips of his ears.
"Thank you..." he says quietly.
Taking a breath, he pushes those ugly feelings down to deal with later. Maybe.
"I'll make sure to take care of myself," he reassures her as he tucks the coin purse into his pocket and looks around the decorated streets. "I should be able to find some work tomorrow after I get checked by the healer. They probably need all the hands they can get to clean up after all the festivities. I, uh, can only offer one, but that's still something."
He looks back down at Cypress. "I don't know if I'll see you again before you and your guardians leave the city. It might be a bit awkward to explain things to them...but maybe we'll run into each other again one day. I certainly won't forget everything you've done for me."
At least, he hopes he won't.

When Everett doesn’t refuse the coin purse after she puts it in the palm of his hand, Cypress isn’t quite sure what to do with her apprehensive posture of confidence. She’s poised to argue with him— expected even— but instead, she just sort of blinks and deflates with an exhale.
She lifts her head to look up at Everett, wringing her hands together while he reassures her that he’ll take care of himself.
She believes him.
“The dock is always looking for help, too.” She says, averting her gaze while she ponders. She raises a hand to rub the back of her neck. “They don’t let kids help because they think we’ll slow them down or just get hurt, but you’re big enough to carry stuff that they’d hire you, I think. There’s lots of inns and stuff by the port, too— they’re just kinda loud and noisy because since a lot of merchants and sailors stay there.”
She recalls hearing the sea-side shanties sometimes, scurrying by the port on late nights, and the hooting and hollering from inside some of the smaller taverns. Sometimes she’d sit and listen to the jaunty tunes, the stomping of feet, and the rattle of the old boards; most of the time, she’d pass by because it was loud and noisy; but it sits in her memory somewhere with a sort of weird nostalgia.
She sighs, glancing down at her hooves when Everett mentions he’s not sure if he’ll meet her again before she leaves with mister Cyran and miss Del, but that’s kinda how it goes, right? No one stays forever.
That leaves an empty, hollow feeling behind; so she shakes her head to knock the thoughts around.
“That’s okay,” she admits, glancing back up at Everett. “I’m glad I got to meet you. I think mister Cyran and miss Del will be glad, too. They’re real nice.” She sighs, bunching the edges of her skirts within her fingers to offer Everett a small curtsy of farewell. Yeah, it's going to be strange to explain this to Cyran and Del... but she thinks they'll understand... they help people, too. “I hope we get to meet again, someday… Take care until then, okay? — and make sure you see the healer in the morning.”

Everett smiles as Cypress suggests other places he can try to find work. The docks isn't a bad idea at all, even if all they'll let a one-armed weirdo do is coil some ropes or chip barnacles off hulls.
"I'll definitely try there. If I was in a shipwreck then maybe someone there might have heard something."
Asking around couldn't hurt, and considering he was washed up on shore there were only a few circumstances that could have made the possible like falling off a ship, being in a wreck, or being swept out to sea from shore. If he could narrow it down a bit, maybe he could retrace his steps or find someone who can help jog his memory.
He notices how Cypress drops her gaze. As much as he wants to reassure her and promise that they'll see each other again, he doesn't know how realistic that is. There's a lot he doesn't know, and he can't say how things may change if he regains his memories. He's also not too sure if Cypress' guardians would appreciate a stranger getting the young satyr's hopes up only to disappoint her later.
Speaking of Cypress' guardians...he's glad to hear that Cypress seems to be in good hands despite her unfortunate circumstances. Even though he hasn't known her long, he can tell she is a good soul.
"I'd be happy to meet them one day."
From how she talks of them, they seem like decent folk.
He returns her curtsy with a bow, truly grateful for all she's done for him.
"I will. A promise is a promise."
As he turns to go find a place to stay, he gives a final wave back to Cypress. Hopefully, fate would lead their paths to cross once again in the months to come.
