These forests were not something she was used to. She had come here because, frankly, she’s heard so much of the haunted forest that she simply had to explore it herself - She had to admit, it was impressive, but definitely not as ‘homey’ as her own forest. Not to her at least. Persephone stopped at the edge of the hauntwoods, looking around. Honestly, there weren't a lot of interesting things here. A few spooks here and there, but not anything Persie would consider really haunted.
“Boo.” She mumbles, kicking the floor a little, disturbing some dirt. She had come here trying to find some sort of ghosty creature, and the worst she’s found was some stupid wolf.
"Oh well.” She says aloud, to nothing in particular. To herself she only wondered where the nearest village was, and headed in the direction she came from.

The Hauntwood was never a place Horakhti spent much time exploring in his life, between superstition and little solid land in the area made it undesirable for people to need something from here. Today though, he have a bandolier of fishing pots chained around his torso. A fisherman's hunch that there would be teeming shallows that would easily fill the pots, or so that's what Horakhti was told when asked to go all the way out here.
He wades through the shallow water and deep mud, as he unties the first pot, baits it, and sets into the water with a float above it. He strides his way on to the forested island, water rushing out of his way as he moves to next spot. After navigating the tangle of trees and soft earth, a flash of pink and a voice stopped him in his tracks. Another person? Out here, really? Or am I finally going to meet one of the ghost everyone believes is out here?
They're probably just lost, better help them before something from the water drags the under. He lets out a low sigh as he maneuvers his way through the trees in their direction. He calls out as he approaches "Are you lost? Never known people to wonder out here by themselves."
Once he gets closer, he slows his pace as observes the other person. He keeps his hands open and off to the side, not wanting to staring them.

Persephone wouldn’t have assumed anyone to be here, given the area’s general history. Frankly, she didn’t care whether or not she did meet anyone. She’s not heard much of the marsh flats’ people, but she could only assume what they were like. This… Was not it. Persie turned out on her heel, her hand reaching for her bow instinctively as she was approached by the gigantuan… Lizard man? She seemed momentarily confused, especially because… He seemed friendly.
“What the fuck are you?” She asked calmly, approaching him and examining him, poking his skin and gently scratching his scales. After examining him a bit more, and assuming he was both intelligent and somewhat friendly, she finally popped her head up behind his shoulder. As best she could, at least, given his stature. “Not lost. Was exploring. And I have been thoroughly disappointed.”
She moves around, to stand in front of him. “I was looking for something spooky, I got… Well. Nothing.” Persie sighs and shrugs in disappointment. “This place isn’t nearly as fun as my home forest."

Horahkti set his arms down and relaxed his shoulders as she started to talk to him. He watched her she walked around him, hardly reacting to her investigating his scales. It was odd, she had claws, as he did, but looked nothing like him.
"People speak of this place because of the lost souls. Some come out looking for what could be here, and never come back." His hand grabs the bandolier of fishing pots as he rests his posture. "Some tell stories of spirits that took them or that they are the spirits now."
"I usually thought that it was fools not respecting the dangers out here; predators, quick sinks, and bad flora." He turns his head and looked her over a bit more now that she was closer. Her appearance might have fit some of the descriptions from those tales. Musing the question, "But to make sure, you aren't a spirit or ghost who has come to visit the Hauntwood. Are you?"

Persie stopped , shifting slowly in front of him as a smirk grew on her face. “And what if I were?” She teased. “Do you believe in the stories? The ones of the spookies around here? Have you ever seen one yourself?” She gave him a teasing glare, and giggled. “No. I am not a spirit, not a ghost. Just a fellblood who is bored. I’ve met spirits and ghosts, though. They are quite fun, in the right spirits… Get it?” She grins again.
She flourishes, bowing down with her hands clasped over her face. “Since I am making your acquaintance, my name is Persephone. I’m from the Darkwoods. Equally legendary forest, if not in different ways. I’ve never met anyone quite like you, though.” She looks over him, trying to determine, still, what exactly he is.

“If you were, there isn’t much I could do. Glad you’re not.” Horahkti replied with a bemused grunt. He rubbed the underside of his jaw as he recollected the stories. “Haven’t seen any spirits, and don’t believe in most of the stories. I know too many things in this swamp that could scare or eat up foolish people. But I guess it may not be impossible for someone or something to linger here.”
He tilted his head as she bowed in front of him, eventually responding by lifting his head up before bowing back down. “I greet you Persephone of the Darkwood. I suppose I should welcome you to the Hauntwood and the greater Marsh Flats. As for what I am, many travelers refer to me as a lizardman or of the lizardfolk. A rather straightforward description, but apt.” He lifts his arms straight out from his sides to show to her, his thick tail swishing from one side to the other across the ground. “I am exceptional among my kind. Most are similar in proportions to all the other races. I grew for a long time and faster than my clutchmates.”
He drops his arms back down, looking down at her to read her response. “Does that satisfy as an answer?”
