Persephone grew up in the Ash Lands. She was born to a criminal family, but it was clear they didn't want her when they had left her in the woods to fend for herself when she was old enough. Persephone knew where not to go in the deadwoods. The whole place was practically dead, and there were criminals everywhere. Persephone definitely kept to herself, almost to the point where she became a bit of a legend; The Girl In The Forest.
Well, to survive, Persephone had to rely on something other than herself.
She came across what Persephone could only describe as a Goddess. She didn't know any better at the time, though its not like Solancae had to trick her at the end of the day. She was all Persephone knew for the longest time. The two lived in the most beautiful part of the Deadwoods. A little spot Solancae took for herself, and filled with life and beauty. Persephone was allowed to explore, but after a few bad experiences, she ended up choosing not to.
Eventually Persephone ventured into a city - into Darkveil City. Persephone actually ended up having a pretty good night. Some people ended up recognizing her as the Girl in the Forest. Eventually she had to go back. Solancae was not very happy with her little adventure. The Goddess tried to explain that she was just trying to protect her and her home - From humans. People who would destroy her at a glance, simply for being where she does not belong.
Solancae tried to explain to her that most humans were selfish beings - Wanting all the world at their fingertip. Which is why Persephone and Solancae were stuck in this small area of the Darkwoods. If the Goddess dared explore outwards, they would chance an attempt at her life. Persphone was lucky. She was a human, she could pass for them, and not invoke their wrath. The Goddess was not so lucky.
It didn't stop Persephone from exploring. This was something she eventually had to explain - Persephone is human. She sometimes wanted to be around other humans, even if they do suck sometimes. Solancae had to give in eventually. On one condition.
All Solancae asked for was a bit of blood.
She wouldn't explain what for until Persephone had cut open her palm and offered it to her Goddess. Taking the opportunity, Solancae took some of the blood and mixed it in a vial with some red liquid. She explained what it was - Pomegranate juice. A type of lifeblood for Solancae herself. Mixing the two would mean that Solancae could go with Persephone, and the two could travel together. They would keep eachother safe, and they both get what they want. Persephone definitely was not against this idea.
And so, Persephone Styx made a pact with the Demon Solancae.
Personality
Persephone has a sort of hatred towards humanity in general; They've only showed her kindness when it amuses them. Nonetheless, it amuses her as well. It doesn't bother Persephone being the center of attention, even if for not the best reasons. She likes putting herself on display. She can be an example of perfection, and everyone else below her. Every single one of them is something that represents the death of nature and the things that are destroying her home. Each one of them is also a means to an end for her - and for Solancae as well, whom she is truly devoted to.
Persephone has a sense of humor. She messes around a lot, especially with men. Some may think of her as manipulative, doing what she can to get what she wants. But she never lets them think too little of her. She's above them, and they will know that.
Persephone does like some people. Those who are devoted to other beings such as herself, she understands on a different level. Those who devote themselves to bringing their deity into the light and all that jazz. She is capable of getting along with those ones. Everyone else? Not really. But she'll definitely pretend to.
