To receive a request from an outrider is both a privilege and a gift. It gives me the right to go with some of the most entuned people to nature besides druids. The gift is to let me escape all of my companions to do my own thing without needing to set an example for the little pixie, deal with the oh-so-worried Nit, and not say the wrong things in front of Carminda, who can repeat anything they hear. With this freeing feeling, I walk through the storm to the edge, the meeting point of the group. With my parasol blocking much of the rain and my skill of cloud watching, no problems in the travel happened. At the edge of the storm, I could see the outrider gear and colors along with another person. With little qualms at sharing this journey with a fellow curious soul, I walk forward and close my parasol as I leave. As I was the only moving thing for a distance, I was pretty noticeable, allowing me not to startle them. "Hello!" I give a light bow to both of them. "Keyke reporting to requested aid." Quest Name: Prey or Predator
Participants: Exactly two
Location: Anywhere
Post Requirements: 7 post per person, 150 words per post
Reward: Entrance into the guild
Description: Outriders are skilled trackers and hunters who spend most of their time in the wilderness, living off the land and honing their skills. They are the first line of defense when it comes to the guild, utilizing their skills to collect clues and tracks belonging to dangerous creatures. You and another will join one of these outriders as they trek through the wilderness, hunting a vicious creature. However, it seems the creature was already onto you. You must help the outrider track a creature from the Bestiary whose power level is medium or higher. This includes locating things such as tracks or clues indicating its location. However the creature won't go without a fight, and after tracking it, you must now fight it! Help the outrider fight off and kill the creature before it claims anyone else!

Kamille didn't know what to expect. She heard of the Winged Expeditionary Force, and at first thought they wouldn't get along. Monster hunters tended to be presumptuous in her experience, but more importantly...
The Witch of Moonglade was known for her love for monsters.
Kalaf wanted to come, but she thought it best to leave the drake behind for now - she could always summon him if it got to that, but until she got a better understanding of the situation and her partners, he'd better stay at home.
She shot her starry eyes up to the storm, her feathery cloak swishing softly with the wind as she was now able to pierce through the clouds to the stars above. The Gods are dead, she thought to herself, and while that meant nothing for most people, she felt the storm. Never she had felt the pool of mana revolving so wildly inside, so unhinged, so...
Untamed.
"CAW! Bubble head! CAWWWW! Look there! CAAAAWWWW!"
"Did you teach him to call me that?"
"Bold of you to assume I can teach it anything..."
Mischief danced up and down its own perch, inside the twisted piece of wood she carried as a staff by her side, the black talons of her gloves scratching slightly the same spot. The raven was happy in its own mischievousness - that yes, Kamille had taught him to call the outrider "bubble head" - and completely unaware of the growing tension. The man was a seasoned hunter, proved and tested, warrior and tracker, and yet... The way the woman looked unphazed at his own awesomeness, the endless well of patience she seemed to tap from... Something about her enerved him.
At first he thought she wouldn't be fit for the job. Sure, they heard of her fame - who hadn't? But if fancy, unpractical, high quality clothes told him anything was that that was a mistake.
And speaking of mistakes...
"CAWWWW! Hello!"
The raven was the first to greet the newcommer, bouncing up and down from its perch. None of them looked particularly surprised - although she wondered if the man also felt her steps through the vibrations on the earth - but the outrider did his best not to make a face.
What an odd pair they had assembled for him to work with. That must be a joke...
The Witch of Moonglade smiled at her, and it was imediatelly clear she was one of those warm people who smiles with their eyes - which also held a testament to her power, with stars swirling deep pools of sapphire. There was a pull in eyes like that, greater than the turnover, inevitable as the tide. Maybe that's what made the man so unerved. Kamille smelled to magic - or was it just lilac?
Kamille responded with a curtsy herself, the kind they teach noble ladies at Court. That part of her background was well known.
"Good day, Ms. Keyke. Nice to meet you. Hope you had no trouble in your travels. My name is Kamille, and the raven is Mischief-"
"Hi! I am Mischief!"
The outrider grunted by her side, stepping forward.
"Names Kartago. If you ladies are done, we have a job to do. What do you know of the mission? What have you been told?"

The irritation on the outrider was apparent, and I could respect it. Outriders are notorious for being reclusive unless needing a slight bit of help with a significant animal. It's as if an extrovert suddenly kissed an introvert before saying hi and introducing themselves. It's a whole mess that I didn't want to mess even with a twenty-foot pole. I give a nod to him as I reread the letter given to me in my mind. "Yes, We are here to destroy a Kruthik pack that looks to have overpopulated this area, correct sir Kartago?"
I give a momentary pause for a breath before continuing, "I am the one to act as a guide through the storm so no lightning strikes us and prevents us from being hindered in the tracking of such annoying creatures," I tap my chin as I look to the sky, keeping a listen to the conversation while tracking the outcomes of the electric sparks in the world above us. After Kartago and Kamille had a bit of conversation, I interject, "The sooner, the better, as it looks like the clouds are about to overlap in this area." I turn to look at Mischief before I gesture to his, dare I call her this, owner. "You might want to land or at least hold on to one of us, the winds will pick up soon."

Kamille is not sure what she expected of her guide - perhaps someone like her grandkid, Astrid. A little ball of chaos, fueled by spite that breathed lightning. Keyke didn't look like that, but she would be the last person to judge. The Witch didn't seem to worried about the raven, as she knew Mischief would know what to do. Instead, for a moment she turned to the outrider, shoving her staff into his hands.
"Will you be a gentleman and carry this for me?"
It was phrased as a question, but she didn't wait for the answer. Instead, in the blink of an eye, her shape shifted, the blackness of her feathery cloak engulfing her for a second, being replaced by a dense coat of fur just as dark as her garments [1]. In the place of a woman, now stood a giant dire wolf, jet black, thick fur and starry blue eyes. This would certainly make the trek a bit easier on her end, without being held back by her heavy cloak.
The outrider allowed himself the raise of an eyebrow, but furrowed his brow just as quick.
"Let's not waste anymore time here. Movin' out, gals."
While he unceremoniously strapped Kamille's staff to his back, Mischief once again found a place to hold onto on the staff itself. Dire wolf Kamille promptly got by Keyke's side, keeping up the pace with her.

As a person who constantly lives in the body of my younger self, the wolf shifting was not too surprising. After she handed her staff to the outrider, I figured something was about to happen. I gave the nod to him, looking at the raven for confirmation of its placement, before turning around and positioning myself to keep the sky and the group. It could be shown that even though I'm tiny, I could keep a steady pace that matched the outrider.
Next to me, Kamille started to talk to me, an odd thing I wasn't expecting because of the shift. I slightly tilted my head to her, not shifting my eyes from my view of the sky, then spoke. "Yep! Born in Thorock, raised in the lightning fields. How about you? Where are you from?" I started to shift to skipping forward before a tune started to play in my head; I started humming before getting to these lyrics. "~F is for fire that burns down the whole town, U is for up in clouds of death, and N is for no survivors!~" Allowing my childish voice to make an odd contradiction from the words and the happy tune I sang them in.

Both the outrider and Kamille glanced over to Keyke as she started to sing. Kamille wasn't sure of what to make of their companion, and from the expression she caught on Kartago's face as she glanced over her shoulder, she knew he also seemed to be evaluating the life choices that brought him up to that circumstance. Keyke sure was leaving an impression, and thanks to her wolf shape, it was not clear which one. " I was born in the Crescent Isles, but was raised in the most treacherous place known by man..." "I thought I heard you were raised at the Sun King's Court?" Kartago promptly inquired. " Yes. The place with the highest number of vipers per foot square..." This got a quick chortle out of the outrider. If for one, he thought the ladies made up for a weird group, it was clear there was more to them than meet the eye. She hadn't met anyone like Keyke so far, so she would reserve judgement. What was that she often preached? You know people by their actions, not their words. While the black fur quickly became drenched, Kamille didn't seem annoyed by it or the cold. Truth be known, the vicinity of the Pyromancer was always comfortably warm, as if cold refused to approach. She tried to sniff the ground for a moment - it wasn't often that she would get to use that shape, usually prefering the shape of a raven, but it sure had its own perks. She only needed to learn to use them. "Smooth seas make poor sailors, they say... Surely growing up in the lightning fields made for some amazing stories."
While following Keyke's lead, Kamille would keep close, sometimes trying to sniff the ground or anything around.

I snapped out of my thoughts at the mention of stories, specifically the comment about the lightning fields. I did a little spin and did a little jazz hand before turning back to face the front. "Many stories, some good, some bad." I dig a little sway before side-stepping to the right, avoiding a loose edge of lightning from another strike. With a giggle, I return to talking. "One of my favorite stories to tell is about a pair of twins I know. One loves magic; the other loves blades."
I raise my fingers as I tell the little story about them, "This first one is an earth domain user with a knack for fire. I will say he was so stubborn about joining the storm riders around here that he flew on an Acuila and rained fire bolts below to attack creatures, every single one missed." My shoulders were shaking from trying to contain my laughter. "T-the second one could not for the life of him figure out that blades included more than just swords. He was so stubborn about it he came to the lighting fields to attack a creature using a sword and a dagger to prove a point. Instead, he's hit by his rebellious twin's firebolt spells." I keep my pace, letting the memories flow over the little funnies around the area.

The story Keyke told was an unusual one, and certainly not the kind she was referring to, but still she nodded and followed along.
"Pyromancers do tend to be show offs. I should know."
Since she was one, she probably meant. But despite the dramatic flair about her, she was not overly theatrical and could keep a low profile should she need it.
"I assume these twins were your friends? What happened to them, in the end?"
Kartago seemed to be starting to lose his patience as he listened to the women talking, grumbling softly. The weather didn’t do much to lighten his mood. Truth be said, Mischief also looked miserable from his perch, occasionally croaking directly into the man's ear, as if personally complaining to him about the weather.
Kamille sniffed the ground in her wolf shape, but she had never tracked something like that before, so it was a bit of a learning curve. The rain also made it hard for them to track marks on the ground, as Kartago soon found out. He stopped them from time to time, trying to assess their surroundings and search for clues about their targets.
"Tricky little buggers... they seem to leave tracks so faint... that the rain easily washes it all away..."
That was... a problem. Maybe it was a poor choice to come to Dragon Cradle like that, but as soon as the thought crossed her mind, she felt a chill running up her spine, making the fur along her back rise.
Kamille growled, looking around.

I gave a good laugh at the comment about pyromancers, also made note of the ability that little statement would bring to the fight later on. I glance back to the sky as I thought back to the time, "Yeah, we are old friends. The one with a sword was fine, just a minor burn. The magic one was a bit worse for wear. He didn't hit any of the creatures but they saw him. Had to ride the acuila back to Tempest Peak at full speed. Forced the main fighters to take care of the swarm that was made behind him. It wasn't till that night that the sword one came back, sparked up by lighting and slightly burned from earlier." I gave my head a little shake, "Had to put them on opposite sides of the tree till they could cool off enough to talk nicely to each other... with about ten of the elders there as well."
I glance over at our guide, and seeing his irritation, I quickly quiet down from my story. I was more than willing to get more on out of the lessons that he tried to give us. To make him feel a bit better about the tracks going away before the lessen could really start, I quickly learned a shape and pointed at what I thought was the same thing. Depending on the shape, it was easy, mainly footprints of humans being easier for me to identify specifics of.
I look to see the other two being tense, ready to fight, as I glance around. I see the creatures tunneling out of the ground, quickly surrounding us. Looks like we found them, or rather, they found us.

The ground shook, and while it was harder to feel the finer details of what was going beneath the earth, it was clear that was highly irregular. Certainly not the gentle tapping of the rain, or even their very regular feet. The earth rumbled and opened way - in many directions.
In a blink, the blackness that floated around her blue eyes shifted once more, taking the shape of feathers and then a woman. Kamille turned back into her normal self as the group got surrounded by a pack of small creatures errupting from the ground. The Witch had some expectations of their abilities, and one in particular, she heard how they were pack hunters...
"This... This is a large pack........"
They kept on pouring from the ground, one after the other, batting their pince-like jaws at them. No wonder they have been dubbed a threat - there were so many! Dozens!
Kamille turned her back to the other two, as Kartago did the same, all the while he slowly pulled out his sword.
"Dammit... I had an idea the pack was large, but... Never seen a pack so big..."
...No better time to make the first move, then!
Kamille wasted no time, quickly browsing on her pouch, taking out... chess pieces.
Two. Chess pieces. Kartago glanced over in disbelief.
"I don't think-"
But before he could even finish, the Witch had already flung the small, black pieces towards the mass of small creatures that kept on coming from the depths of the earth. The pieces landed with a loud rumble, as they hit the floor, not as small chess pieces, but as two six foot tall stone gargoyles, towering over everyone around.
And then, chaos errupted.

Reading books about creatures is one thing, It's a whole other one fighting them face to face. I expected a pack, they have the tendency to do that according to the books, but the size was huge. I quickly pull out my saber from the umbrella, flicking open the front. Right in time too. As I finished opening it, one of them leaped forward, swiping down with its huge claw. I shifted the attack to move just enough not to get hit, but it gave me a good estimate of its abilities. Its speed gave it its leverage, but the strength was not a lot at all. I flicked the saber at the claw, not breaking the saber but also giving more info to process how to beat it. I jump back and land swiftly behind the gargoyles. I don't let my eyes stop watching every movement around us as I speak up, "So, I can deflect the hit on myself when needed, but any tips on where to attack other than eyes and joints?" I turn to watch the back of the group as I take in the numbers, "It's nice to know as quickly as possible, seeing as we are dealing with 28 of these creatures." I flick my shield around before readying my saber all while listening to the other two.

Eyes and joints? Sounded the kind of concern warriors would have, and she didn't take Keyke for a warrior. That was a surprise. Precision wasn't usually a concern for her: Fireballs rarely made the distinction. But they would need a lot of fireballs to handle that many creatures... The two gargoyles hardly evened out the odds. No matter how strong they were, she could easily see them being swarmed by the superior numbers. Okay. Time to call up on some more help. She seemed confident enough that everyone else around her would protect her, so she didn't waste any time and rose her hands as she weaved the mana. A tingle running up ones spine was the only evidence of the amount of mana she was weaving - uninterrupted, luckly, as one of the gargoyles blocked the path of one of the beasts that jumped towards her, using it to knock other out. " DISASTER! WE'LL NEED YOUR HELP HERE!"[1] A soft rumble rose in a crescendo, as the earth once again cracked open; not to give way to more monsters, but rather... a tree. A contorted, haunting like tree, with trunks that moved like limbs, hoisting itself out of the depths of the earth until it towered over anything else around there. Eight feet of bent and twisted, creaking wood that felt more alive than it should be - and when it opened its eyes that resembled to scorching coals inside, it became clear it was a piece of the Witch's magic. " Disaster, give us a hand here. Fetch!"[2] [1]Golemancy [2]Arcane Activation

At Kamille's call for disaster, I thought an earthquake was about to happen. Which, in all fairness, I could read some of the mana she was spinning. I could tell it was earth based, but with how much was happening, not to mention, her focus was entirely on the spell, I needed to keep these guys off of her. My eyes quickly spotted some that tried to confront her, but a flick of my wrist sent out one of my magic knifes, hitting their eye, and even lands into the brain, which was accidental. I glanced down at my wrist and back to the others, trying to see through the intense spell being cast. In a moment, it disappears. Then bursts the tree from the ground. It matched my adult size in height, but was also pulsing off the strong aura Kamille had been collecting. Enemies forgotten, I watch as it gets it's bearing around it and taking in the enemies. With each pulse, I became all the more curious. How does it work? How was it made? The density and complex calculations needed to make this is extremely high. I lowered my shield and saber, watching each movement, my smile growing each second. My voice squeaks out instinctively, "That's so cool!" My breath hitched as my body started to vibrate in wonder of what it could do. What defense level could it have? How does it compare to other creatures? Is it weak to fire? Or did the unique magic help protect the tree body from it? So many questions swirled in my brain, locking my into fascination that I had been previously trying to keep out of by focusing on the enemies. Eyes twinkling as each one come to the front of my mind. Used Javal (The throwing Knife enchanted with water rune)

Kartago seemed to be bracing himself for the worst, since the hope he placed on both his companions wasn't much. His face crunched up in an ugly scowl soon turned into a surprised look as a literal monstrous tree hoisted himself from the depths of the earth. The Witch seemed to think that was enough to take care of the problem, and her assessment was... kinda correct?
Disaster's eyes became scorching red, and an ungodly roar reverberated through its core and out to the little pests that started to turn their attention to it. Stomping and clawing, Disaster didn't seem to have much success in doing anything other than scare or keep them busy, as the little buggers were too fast for his bulky frame to keep track of. The gargoyles could only do as much, but they got completely swarmed by the pack in no time, and it looked like the same would be happening to Disaster: as the gargoyles started to malfunction and become less and less of a problem for the pack, the massive majority of the creatures that didn't already run away started to flock to the giant beast, stomping around aimlessly.
The numbers were definitely their main advantage, and in no time even Disaster saw himself covered in small buggers that bit and scratched at his bark, too fast for him to take them all out. Pests. All of them.
Kamille called the gargoyles, Sir Prize and Miss Fortune back to protect them as most of the monsters swarmed the giant tree. She didn't look concerned, specially when Disaster became too imobile. Keyke could feel it: Disaster was weaving a spell!
And it was a familiar one for someone proficient in the sky domain: as Disaster stood really still and the stactic started to built around him, the giant golem covered himself in a thin layer of lightning[1] - by the time the spell matured, the golem was covered in the monstrous pests, and the result was the expected.
ZAP
All of the creatures that have crawled up the giant tree got electrocuted as the golem wove its spell, falling down like paralyzed flies. Disaster shook himself of the creatures, not unlike a dog would shake fleas away.

Watching the wave of magic collide and create the golem and magic in front of me, I could feel it within me. I could see the sparks for every strike, feel the static in the air, not unlike how I sense lightning. The waves of the magical energy still coming even though everything had been summoned only increases my fascination about Kamille. Just how powerful was she? What else could she do? What range of magic can she use? Obviously she has earth and sky, if the towering golem says anything, but could she use sea? Light? Or even Dark? I feel my excitement gather my own magic, within my eyes, a glow appears. Lighting my eyes up to reveal those who didn't notice before, the lack of pupils is clear. In front of my face, magic forms to make an almost star like shape out of broken glass. I push my magic, but it feels like something was just missing. I needed a spark to activate my spell. I swing my saber around, placing the shield part to rotate the creature that attempted to attack me while in my wonder. I grin a wide smile, creating a moment to summon one of my bonbon chocolates right into my mouth. 1 I bite into it and feel the missing piece needed for my spell. The glass turns white and expands in a speeding temp fluctuation. The area turns cold, rain turning to a whiter color. 2 My eyes watch as the cold circulates around each of the creatures, wearing down their movement, and even sneaking into their armor. I swiftly hop away as I feel a shift from the creature move, attack around my umbrella. I grin and move my blade down, landing it inside of a crack of the armor. I flick the shield to block another attack before hopping away from the fight, allowing friend and friend to attack each other without hitting me. I grin and watch the magic in fascination. What shapes, core, and pattern did she use to make that shielding magic again?
1. Blizzard Chocolate (Blue Raspberry Bonbon) 2. Sheer Cold
