Shaa watched as Rosen rushes away from their target and slaps himself in the face. What are you doing!? The box, THE BOX! The gigantic Mephit laughs with glee. You insignificant insects, just running around like ants, meaningless ants! As he throws around insults, the Mephit summons more paint spiders into the fray. This is when he hears Risen talk about the paints themselves being used. Use the paints? What are you talking about?
Shaa looks over and sees a paint blob over by risen forming into a sun. Did Rosen do that? He wondered to himself if he could picture a ballista to shoot into that jerks face. You think that you can control my paints? What did I tell you? They are not for you! Shaa didn’t have time to think about it. He had two friends bearing down on him to deal with.
As the first spider approached, Shaa watched as the skittering beast shifted to get a better angle on him. What was this? These spinners seemed a little less mindless than the beasts they fought in the forest. He breathed deep, and blew a cone of flame at at the painted creation. To his surprise, the spider hopped out of the way. What the? The second spider take a position behind him, cutting him off. Well that’s just fantastic… Shaa focuses hard, waiting on the inevitable strike. The spider behind him spits a sticky fluid at his back. He can feel it coming and moves out of the way. As he does so the first spider jumps at his face.
As the spider jumps at him, Shaa ducks a bit and pushes it up, using its momentum to throw it into its sticky friend.

He hopped back, looking to where the old man was in hopes him and his little buddies found that box. ”We found it!” Raising it into the air, a group of seedlings carrying a decently sized box. The actual size was a perfect fit for the little monstrosity. The box was a glassy black with a daunting red glow.
Speaking of little monstrosities, that shout drew the attention of the very one. ”No! I will not go back! I refuse to go back!” Fucking- The creature begins floating over, readying to fling a blob of red and orange paints. The man notices, lowering his hand a little and shaking with cowardice. “Damn it, move!” 1Rosen wraps his vines around the man, yanking as hard as he could and tossing him over behind Shaa just as the paint is launched. He raised his scythe and slashed at the paint.
The colors and shape morph, heat rising as the blade moves through as flames appear. His one eye widens as he’s forcefully knocked back and onto the floor, clothes and weapon on fire from a loud explosion. The pillars shake from the violence as the undead is immediately put unconscious. ”Weak and utter fool! You will not leave! You will not ever leave! We will reform this world! We will make it beautiful!”
“O-oh gods… Here, quick! Just touch the box to him and he’ll be forced inside!” He hands the box to Shaa, the seedlings being lifeless in his palms.

The Box! This was it! They were finally going to put an end to this nonsense once and for all. All he needed to do was touch him. The colossal creature sneered at the Minotaur, his lips curled up in defiance. You will not stop us from making our beautiful world. We will paint and paint until the sky is red with your blood!
But the Mephit was not the only one who was angry. Shaa’s rage had slowly been building for awhile now. That he was near the finish line, more things in his way finally pushed him over the edge. Are you kidding me you wackadoo? He doesn’t want to paint with you. You have him trapped in here. He hates your guts. I just barely met you and I hate your guts. You and your oversized head are going back in the box where you belong.
The Mephit screams and flails his hands. Several paint snakes emerge from below him and make a beeline for the fighter. Shaa is not having it. RRRRRAAAAARRRRRRR! Shaa rushes right at the snakes. Some attempt to slither out of the way but are too slow for the Minotaur’s onslaught. The box tucked safely under his arm, Shaa tramples and stomps his way closer and closer to the Mephit, paint spraying in every direction.
When the formerly tiny demon like creature can see the snakes are not even slowing him down, he starts to shrink himself and ascend to get out of the bull man’s reach. But Shaa is having none of that. As the Mephit shrinks, Shaa begins to grow and grow. The creatures eyes go wide as the enraged giant Minotaur places a directed strake into the Mephits face, breaking his nose. Agghhh! As the Mephit falls, Shaa reshrinks himself, jamming the box onto the Mephits mashed face. In a flash, the creature is gone and all of its creations turn into colorful puddles on the floor. Shaa, exhausted with the effort, also crumples to the floor, the box next to his outstretched hand.

The man laughed with teary eyes. "Y-you... you did it! I can finally leave! Carmella I'm coming home my love!" Without any worry or concern for the two, he rushed to the large painting and jumped through.
The room was still, eerie silence prevent by Shaa's breathing. The flames that ate away at the unconscious Rosen had also turned into a puddle of red and orange. Though strangely enough, the body appeared to be getting covered in a number of plant life. 1An assortment of grass, flowers, and mushrooms grew out of the corpse before it started to flinch.
Rosen let out a large gasp, as if he had woken from a nightmare, before turning over on his back. "... Did I die for real this time or am I still here?" He sat up and looked around, seeing Shaa. "Oh, you did it. Nice." Reaching for his scythe, he got up and used the handle as a crutch. His sweater was charred around the stomach, the skin had a nasty burn mark. Despite the major wound, the undead looked to be unfazed for the most part in terms of pain. "You alright big guy? And where' the painter we just saved?"

Shaa groaned loudly and, with some effort, rolled himself onto his side. Ohhhh that was dumb. The effort of growing and shrinking so fast, especially while performing such a “all in” move like Sundering Strike while doing it had taken a massive toll on his body. The numbness of being in Berzerker mode at the time was the only reason he had been able to pull it off. And now that the rage was over, he was suffering the consequences. I’ll be fine ….I just kind of hurt….well everywhere at the moment. Shaa’s tail swishes around a bit on the painted floor. He’s not quite sure why but the swishing action is somehow comforting to his aching body.
Looking over at the painting in the background, he motions slightly. Yeah our guy ran into the painting. He didn’t even use the thing his wife gave us. What a punk. Shaa wasn’t concerned about the man at this point. He had done some pretty dumb stuff to get them into this mess and, frankly, getting stuck in his own painting would have been poetic justice. Suddenly, he remembers something. Pulling out the red envelope he had summoned earlier from his jolly bag, he removes two chocolate coins. Coins, he knows, have the bonus effect of minor healing potions. Popping one in his mouth, the chocolate melts and sends a warm sensation through his body. He feels instantly better. Not quite 100% but enough to sit up from the floor. He considers offering the second gold coin to Rosen but is unsure how it would react with a member of the undead.
With another grunt, he stands up and picks up the box, the angry Mephit now securely inside. As Shaa picks up the box, he can hear the voice of the Mephit in his mind. Noooo! Let me out! Look, I know we have had our differences but you have seen. I am powerful. Let me out and I can help you. I can even tell you …secrets… Shaa shakes his head painfully and tries to stifle a chuckle. He says he knows secrets he laughs to Rosen. I may be a Mephit, but I am no liar. I know important secrets. I’m sure you do, I just don’t care. The Mephit laughs. Well, because it serves me, I will tell you one for free. That man, the one who just ran into the painting, was NOT my master. Shaa wrinkled his brow and stared at the box. Ummm WHAT!? Hahaha you all are morons. Don’t believe me, go look in that chest over there in the corner.
Shaa walks over to a large wooden trunk on the other side of the room. There are several chains around it but, under the Mephits direction, he finds the keys and opens the trunk. Inside, to his disgust, are the remains of a very dead and decomposed human male. He is surprised that there is no smell coming from the trunk. At the corpses feet, lies a second box, identical to the first. Shaa picks up the second empty box and looks over at Rosen. I think we have a problem.

Without warning, the undead nicked the second box and began hobbling over to the canvas. Even if he didn't seem to be hurting, the damage was still effecting their movement. "We have the box. Lets stuff it back inside before it destroys the town." He jumped through the canvas, that sense of falling the first time they entered this world coming back.
Thrown out of the canvas, Rosen lands on a wet floor. "Ugh... Wait..." The room he was tossed into was in fact the studio. However, covered from floor to wall to ceiling is still wet paints. He immediately shot up, raising his scythe in a panicked defense. The sounds of screaming and wailing rang outside the building. "Shit shit shit shit shit-" Limping over to the door, he kicked it open as he took notice of the people running away from this very building.
"Free! Free to paint! Free to create! No longer stuck amongst the pages! Isn't this beautiful Carmella!?" "Let me go! You devil! What did you do to my husband!?" Stepping out and looking up to where the voices were coming from. The man from before, the one believed to be the saved husband, still kept a human shape besides the face. The face appeared to be half melted, retaining a sludge-like texture. The melted area revealed the face of, unfortunately, another mephit. "Oh forget that old haggard! Look at what I can do! What we can do together!"

Shaa watched as the undead man grabbed the second box and vanished through the painting. He was still too beat down to argue about it so he stood there alone with the box. Things are happening. My former companion gone, your unread friend now off to parts unknown. It’s just you and me now in a universe all our own. Think for a moment my dear sir. The only monsters here are the ones you would create. No more fighting. No more chaos. Just beautiful as far as you could ever walk it. Not such a bad situation is it compared to the alternative. I’ve seen inside your head. I know this isn’t as crazy to you as you let on. You just have to reach out and take it.
Shaa turned the box round and round in his large hand. It was true to a degree. He was a hero, he was a villain. He was a savior, he was the monster. He was a slave and free. For just a moment, a brief moment, he could decide to be …nothing. But he was too old and too experienced to fall for such dime store trickery. He was a man who wanted for nothing. He didn’t even wear a shirt. He had come to terms with his life along time ago and no demon in a box was going to convince him otherwise. Everyone had plans. The artist, the wife, the Mephits. All Shaa wanted when we woke up…whenever ago it was…was a drink. That’s it, that’s all. It’s hard to manipulate someone who just doesn’t care.
As the Mephit prattled on, Shaa made his own decision. He threw the box in the trunk with the corpse and relooked the locks. He could no longer hear the twisted creature but he imagined whatever it was saying at this point wasn’t very pleasant. With that, he strode towards the picture…and vanished.
The next thing he knew he was back in the studio, hoof deep in paint covering the floor. He looked around quickly and, noting the room was empty, wondered for just a moment if he had truly escaped. Other than the paint, everything else seemed real enough. It was then he heard the screams from outside. Shloghing through the paint on the floor, he puts his hand on the door handle. Wait. What was he doing? He was out. The dude was dead. He certainly didn’t owe anyone anything. He could just go out the back right now and leave this entire mess. Leave the Mephit to one of the like bajillion guards in the city. Go. Just go. But he couldn’t take his hand off the handle.
The Mephit. It was still there. The number one rule of battle, no loose ends. Loose ends found you on the battle field. Loose ends hired assassins and mages to turn your bagel into snakes or something. Nope. That Mephit knew who he was and those things had long memories. Like centuries long. Nope. No loose ends.
Shaa pushed the door open to a street in chaos. Paint spiders and other creatures were running rampant , people scattering in their wake. Shaa catches a glimpse of a crowd pushing down a corner and he follows behind.

With a squelching slash tearing the legs off a painted arachnid, Rosen spun and swung their scythe as a deterrent for approach. The spiders circled the undead, waiting patiently for a fault in his defense. "Why refute against perfection when I can make it so much better?!" The elf didn't answer back. Realistically, why should he fight for these people? The lot of them either run or fight upon first look at him. Beyond the one encounter he had, there was little that Rosen actually owed Charon. Even still, he wanted to believe in the kindness he's seen firsthand. He was still going to fight.
One of the false spiders lunged at the undead. Rosen responded with an upwards swing of their scythe, the blade piercing into the body and raising it into the air. He reeled it back and flung the corpse towards the mephit. It easily swatted the spider away, sending it into a crowd of people as it returned fire with pink paints towards Rosen. Just as the sylvan took to swinging at the paint, the pink splotch exploded into a large cloud of pink dust. "Agh! Damn it, my eye!" He swung randomly, his eye burning from the specks of pink meeting his face. He was fully expecting for the summoned creatures to attack by now but... There was nothing? He kept his guard up, taking the time to wipe his face. Though when he opened his eyes, he found himself in somewhere new.
Gone was the city and chaos; All that was left was a black expanse, a desolate void. He stood there, confused as to what had happened before a voice called out. It rang all around him, no clear indication as to where it came from though the voice was one he had already heard. "Why do you fight, reanimated creature? Why do you insist on protecting these Charonians?" Rosen stayed silent, recalling Shaa's words from earlier. These things are not to be trusted. "Do you think they will accept you just because you are fighting me? Look at them." Like magic, a light shone down on something up ahead. He squinted at it, seeing a family of moon elves running away. Worried, Rosen approached with raised hand to call out to them. They looked at him, fear in their eyes as they began to turn and run. He lowered his hand, disheartened, as he looked at the hand he raised. It was his skeletal one... "They fear you like they fear me. They see you as monster just like me. They will run. They will fight." Right as the mephit's voice spoke those words, a sharp pain entered their abdomen. He turned to look, a bolt pierced into the boy's skin. Scanning to where it came from, a group of soldiers armed with crossbows. Rosen stepped back. "W-wait, I'm not-" They fired without hesitation. He raised his arms over his face protectively, clenching his eyes shut in preparation for what was going to occur... No pain was felt. He peered over his arms to see a blue wall had formed. "Reanimated, allow me to make this world better for us. Allow me to give you the kindness you truly deserve. I promise, I will protect you~" The voice calling out was sweet, almost tantalizing. Maybe... Maybe its right... No, no. Shaa said these guys are bad. I shouldn't... but...
In reality, Rosen hadn't even moved. He simply stood there, unblinking and covered in pink dust.

As Shaa followed in the opposite direction of the panicked crowd, he could feel things starting to spiral out of control. Where in the world were the city guards when you needed them? It was just a stupid Mephit, they should have this all wrapped up by now. But Shaa knew that it wasn’t going to be that easy. This Mephit had some serious power behind it for some reason. He seemed to be running into more and more of them lately. He wondered if the recent shifts in the world had something to do with it.
Turning another corner, he gets his first look at him in his newly realized form. A mix of paint and creature, he was staring at a very pink Rosen. Whatever he was doing to him, he wasn’t moving. Hey you little jerk, what are you doing to the elf…zombie…guy. Without even looking back, the Mephit swishes a hand and a paint version of skeleton swordsman slings to life. Really? The skeleton charges him and Shaa ducks out of the way. He supposed that being made of paint did really give one a sense of self preservation. Shaa bends down and grabs the skeleton by an ankle and yanks hard. The skeleton falls backwards but, instead of breaking, leaves his leg in Shaa’s hand and rights himself. I don’t think I have ever had an opponent rip off his own limb before. That’s just wrong.
Rearranging his body, the skeleton now looks mote sturdy than ever. Tossing the leg to the side, Shaa prepares for the attack.

The voice let out a pained wince. "I'm running out of time kid. You need to make a decision." The mephit appeared before him, putting a hand out for a handshake. "No more pain, no more suffering, no more loneliness. Just you, me, and our victory against those who shunned us." Rosen thought about the offer. He'd seen kindness firsthand with Thalia but... she never did show up to meet him Zeinav. Rather when he got there, he ended up being used a test subject for potions by a stranger. He went to the capital to explore but was promptly avoided and chased by soldiers. And now, the undead came here and was forced into a rescue mission with a man who had seemed to have little care for him.
No matter how hard he wanted or tried, making any sort of friends has either led to nothing or backfired immensely. So far, the only thing he could rely on were the voices of his past. However, even they were gone due to his reanimated hunger... "How do I know you're not trying to use me? Shaa mentioned making a deal with mephits is just a bad idea." "What does he know? Look." A spotlight shone onto where the minotaur was, him being in the midst of combat with a skeleton. "He was your companion for this ordeal, no? And yet instead of focusing on waking you up, he's going after me." "Well maybe he thinks I can handle it or he sees you as the biggest threat right now." "Oh wake up kid! He doesn't want anything to do with you! He doesn't care if you get hurt, look how beat up you are after the last guy and look at how his wounds had suddenly repaired!" Thats... thats true... But why wouldn't he... "Because you're a monster and that's all you'll ever be seen as. But if you let me in, I can take care of us. I can give you the kindness these charonians deny you because I am a monster too." Rosen clenched his fist. The voices weren't here to help him make a decision this time around... "I accept your offer."
Back in the outside world, the painted creatures suddenly dissolved, the mephit under a false disguise of a painter slowly faded as Carmella fell off the roof now without anyone holding her. The paints left on the floor, however, came flying over and started pouring into the undead. Seeping into the corpse's wounds and coating his many flowers, a whirlpool of blues, reds, and greens came together until all entered Rosen. The exposed lacerations and cuts into his body appeared to heal over, a tan-ish paint wrapped around his skeletal hand before hardening into life-like flesh. The tattered clothes he wore looked brand new, his cloak now splotched with a variety of colors. Slowly, he turned to look at Shaa, the rose on his face being a vibrant rainbow instead of the typical red. "Show them, Rosen, the strength that we have. To the hells we peace, Rosen Thorns!" 1Raising his newly made hand, a symphony of grays, greens, white paint swirled around it before he threw it on the ground. A massive figure began to rise out of the ground, the colors created what looked like a clay statue of a hulking behemoth with readied axe before details came to form. A massive creature of vines and bones came to be, wielding a large war axe with intent to harm. It loomed over Shaa with its mouth agape and drooling as if hungry.
Putting their scythe across his shoulders, Rosen calmly strolled over to where Carmella lay. She had just brought herself to consciousness after her fall but is now backing away from the reanimated monster. "I can feel your hunger. That bull is too strong for the likes of us right now, let us start with the one who put you in this mess and leave." 2Rosen put his hand out, a vine shooting out from the flesh as it grabbed hold of the woman and pulled her over. "You said we'd be rewarded. I'll be taking mine now." He opened his mouth wide, practically ripping some of his cheek. "Wait! Please no!" It was already too late. He took a large bite out of her shoulder, a disgusting crunch of bone followed as he tore a sizable chunk off before swallowing. Tossing her aside, Rosen looked to Shaa. "Be seeing you~" 3The massive undead raised one of its hands up as a black glow emitted around it and Carmella's body. She rose once more, eyes black as she and the large figure turned to look at the minotaur. They charged at him as Rosen took this opportunity to flee, ducking into the alleyways of Darkveil amongst the chaos.

As Shaa watches the skeleton start to maneuver around him, it’s body suddenly goes rigid. What in the world was he up to. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, he rushes the boney fighter and attempts to strike him in the face. Only, as he does so, he finds that the skeleton has gone soft and started to melt back into a puddle of paint on the ground. Ummm ok that was easier than I thought it was going to… He had spoken too soon. The puddle of paint started to slime away and coalesced where Rosen and the Mephit were. Had the undead taken him out? He still wasn’t a huge fan of the undead in general but Rosen had done right by him so far so he was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
As the paint continued to shift, the pink mass started to take the shape of Rosen. It was healing him. Updating his clothes, fixing his flesh. Wait…where was the Mephit? There was no sign of the box either. Oh no….. What did you do!? You let him go you paint faced, pointy eared son of a Shaa heard a boom and a harsh push of raw power. It only stuns him for a moment as he watches a massive undead monster being summoned from the ground. Off to the side, Rosen takes a hard chunk of flesh out of Camilla’s shoulder. Friggen Zombies, every time. Some days he hated being right so much. No man, you you don’t eat the employer! Or the hot chick! A dark energy surrounds the hulk and his former employer as they start to turn on him. Several citizens who are still hanging around start screaming in the background as the undead duo move towards him.
But something had changed. They were no longer in paint world. They were in the real world and in the real world, the undead duo had to deal with a very now grumpy elementalist. Shaa felt he could finally breathe for the first time in what felt like forever. He could feel real earth, the real sun, real moisture in the air. He was still pretty tired but he had enough left in him for this fight if he handled it right. No major moves..just the right ones.
The undead hulk came for him first with a massive axe. It was big and full of bone and vines. That was a mistake. Shaa pointed his index finger at him and shoots a fire bolt at its massive chest. As the fire bolt connects, the entire hulk bursts into flames. As it burns, it starts to swing the axe wildly but blindly stumbling past Shaa and towards the still screaming crowd. Oops. He would have to deal with that in a minute. He turns to zombie Camilla who is running at him now. He had enough experience with zombies to know that it was too late to save her. She was already dead. All he could do is make sure she didn’t suffer anymore than she already had.
As Camilla rushed at him, he pushes her off balance and comes at her from behind. Putting her in a head lock, he starts to apply pressure until he can feel her finality start to go slack. Then, it was over. I’m so sorry hot girl. You go be with your husband now.
The undead hulk, still ablaze, has set several carts on fire but has regained its bearings and was coming back at him. Some of the citizens are grabbing buckets of water to make sure the town itself doesn’t go up. Shaa calls out to it. Over here ya dummy! Gah, this day! The massive creature gets a bead on him and hurls his massive axe towards him. Shaa skits to the side as the axe plunks into the ground next to him. Oh that does it. Shaa pulls the massive axe out with one hand and stalks towards the flaming monster. Rushing at it, he twists the axe and with a deft maneuver, slices the hulks arm clean off.
The armless hulk turns again. Suddenly, a hail of spears rain down impaling the hulk in a rain of enchanted spikes. Shaa looks to the side and a very large contingent of city guards have arrived. About friggen time. Shaa drops the axe and turns to find Rosen. If he can take out the Mephit, he can still save him. But as he looks around, there is no sign of the undead elf or the Mephit. NOOOOOOO! Several guards tackle Shaa from behind pinning him to the ground. Nooooo.
Shaa spends the next two days in the guard house explaining what happened. After the guards investigate the art studio and interview the town’s people at the scene, they are able to verify Shaa’s story and finally release him. As soon as he is out, he tries to get a bead on where Rosen has gone. After chasing down a couple leads and rumors, he finally has to concede, the undead has vanished.
He sits down quietly on a bench and ponders the events of the last week. He didn’t feel guilty about anything that happened only more, disappointed. That stupid Mephit was a loose end and if he hated anything, it was loose ends. He would have to let it go for now but wondered if this loose end, would eventually come back to bite him.

As long as this subclass is active you can wield any two-handed weapon or a shield in one hand, and heavy enchanted weapons and shields have all of the benefit of being heavy without being slower to use. This allows you to wield a double-handed weapon with one single hand, or even duel wield double-handed weapons.
