Rosen continued against the onslaught of painted spiders. Flicking his weapon left and right to dissuade the approach, the undead's time was wearing thin. Hunger pang around where his stomach would be, not enough to lose himself but prevalent to the point of noticeability and slight pain. He grabbed at his midsection, gripping his sweater for a moment before slashing a spider who would dare to take advantage of the short moment of weakness. Just keep fighting for a bit longer Rosen... Guys?... Are you there?... The familiar cacophony of voices that was almost always by his side were silent. A fear-ridden gulp closed on Rosen's throat with worry as he attempted to refocus on the battle before him.
He raised his scythe once more before noticing the sudden breeze. He looked around, confused as it pulled towards where Shaa had went. To his bafflement, a seemingly random cyclone had appeared next to Shaa. Rosen opened his mouth to call out before realizing the fighter was somehow controlling it, the man's eyes focused on said cyclone. "O-oh gods. Uh, wow ok." It was odd and definitely just as surprising as the summoned sphere of water.
As Rosen rends the last spider, the ground pooled into a puddle of paints. The color was gross looking, a mashed up mess of different colors. It was quite unsightly. Rosen moved off of it and started to make his way towards Shaa, interested to see what the minotaur had found before an odd squelching noise was heard from behind him. He turned quickly, still on edge from combat, only to see nothing.
However, the same would not be said for the minotaur soon. Unbeknownst to Rosen, the fallen paints of defeated spiders moved on its own accord to where Shaa and the now destroyed white blob are. It coagulates, coming together and forming some sort of creature, although indistinguishable yet.

Shaa calms the torrent of winds and looks over his own masterpiece of destruction. sure, it was a big giant colorful mess but it was still beautiful in its own broken way. Shaa had never really considered himself to be an an artist but there was definitely a lot of creativity involved in being a skilled fighter. Creativity in battle was often the difference between victory and defeat, death and the guy who ends up walking away. Maybe he would take something up a little less violent when he retired. If he lived that long.
Rosen, are you ok? Shaa calls out to the undead man. As he does so, he notices something crawling across the ground. It’s not something though really, it looks more like a rainbow mass of something. Shaa’s brief feeling of victory was dashed as he realized something else was forming from the mass. Ginma’s beard, you guys don’t quit do you. Time to get more creative. Rosen! Follow me, we need to change up the venue. Shaa picks a line in the forest and starts running down it. He noticed Rosen was quick when he needed to be. Hopefully the undead man could keep up.
Shaa reached his hand to the painted sky. As he did so, rain started to fall around them.

Rosen looked towards Shaa as he called out. The giant mass of paint was clear as day growing as the bull ran out into the forest. The paints shifted, bubbling and forming something unlike anything the boy had seen so far. A figure was created first, one of a woman's. It was a tall and fair lady. Her long white hair flowed back as she stared onto the odd pair with pure black eyes. The rest of her was not so pretty as a humongous creature grew under her, in fact replacing the lower half of her body as an incredibly large wolf spider formed among the paints. The most unfortunate part about it was the skittering movement all over the abdomen of the spider. Upon closer inspection, an uncountable amount of smaller spiders ran covered the entirety of the spider's body. "Oh dearies... I haven't a morsel in sooo long... Would you be so kind as to become my next meal?" The voice was melodic and soothing but the undead boy knew not to trust it, even if he was a little dumb. Rosen immediately shivered at this terrifying creepy crawly and followed the minotaur closely.
The nice thing about being undead is the lack of feeling in terms of pain or exhaustion. They weren't about to mess with this creature and it seemed neither did Shaa as he raised his hand up and somehow brought upon an unforeseen forecast of rain. Rosen could hear the stomping of several legs followed by the many snappings of branches and trees. The giant creature was chasing them, that much was certain. Daring to peer over and look, Rosen was met with a horrifying view. It was hot on their tail, barreling through the trees. As it did, the smashed trees converted to paints and seemed to meld into the creature. The rain helped in weakening it as it appeared to be partially melting but with all the fake forestry being absorbed into its being, it kept the monster up. "Shaa! Its absorbing the paint from the environment! We need a flat area!" Rosen started sprinting now, straining his eyes for the end of the forest line. Damn it, we travelled too deep in. We won't be out of this for awhile. Need to slow it down! 1He held his scythe tight, creating vines that wrapped around the handle. He spun around, throwing out his scythe and pulling it towards one of the many legs of this creature. It cleaved through easily, causing the creature to lose its footing and stumble. Liquids dripped from the slash as it reformed new leg, only this time it was a completely different color and appeared to be a bit thinner than the last.

Shaa kept up the run and periodically checked behind him to make sure his companion was still following. The horror that was chasing them was beautiful but scary all at the same time. Like art that you knew wanted to murder you. As the rain fell down, he could tell that it was making the being a bit more gooey than it should be.
Shaa can hear Rosen calling for a flat area. That would be awesome if he had any idea where he was actually going. For all he knew, they could be flying off the entire canvass any moment now. Nope, they needed to deal with these things, permanently. Wrecking expensive art was actually always a secret fantasy of his ever since that episode with that rich merchant. This would have to do.
Shaa slams his hoof deep into the ground, skidding himself to a halt. He takes a deep breath and gets in touch with all of the water that is now permeating everything around them, even the spider monster. Shaa pushes from his core, his magic finding the water inside the creature and starting to turn it to ice.
As the ice starts to form, the spider woman starts to slow down and lose her balance. Icicles start form off her legs. Shaa takes a defensive stance, waiting for the spell to complete.

Rosen stood next to Shaa, mimicking the defensive stance and taking note of the frost now forming on the the monster. The spider woman let out an ear piercing scream, shaking the very leaves of the forest. "Just give up already! MY CHILDREN AND I ARE STARVING!" The chitter and shrills of the spiderlings that covered the end of her spider body called out in agreement.
She raised her hand into the air, her fingers curled in a way that looked as if she was going to scratch someone. The main and much larger spider body raised one of their fore legs high into the air. "FOR OUR KING!" She swiped at the air as the spider part of her followed in kind, now coming down onto the pair at an alarming rate. However, the frost that enraptured the monster was starting to take a better hold as the movements slowed a bit. Rosen wasted no time in trying to find the silver lining in this situation. 1Flicking out his hand, his vines shot out through the air. The vines flew out as he aimed for the frozen sections of the leg, colliding with a shatter as it broke through easily. Rosen shuffled his arm, flailing it around as the vines tilted and spun around to come back to smash through more of the cold blights on this leg before the vines reached their maximum length. He let out an audible "Tch" as he ripped his hand out of the vines.
The speed at which the limb was moving was significantly reduced, several chunks now missing from it as hardened paint littered the grass. Even still, the leg moved down. Paints formed again on the missing pieces similar to how it did when Rosen slashed one of its legs, thought the paint was starting to lack in hue. It was more of a murky water now. It was obvious now that the creature was having difficulty keeping itself together with the mix of rain and cold forming on it. As the leg grew close, Rosen was at a lost for what to do. He clearly wasn't strong enough yet to completely prevent this. Even still, he'd rather try something, anything, before he'd allow someone to get hurt. He held his scythe tight, opting to hold the blade up between them and the leg.

It took awhile to activate the spell but Shaa was finally ready to end this. Breathing deep and focusing on the water now saturating the spider mother and her children, Shaa utters a single word. FREEEZZZE. With that, the world comes to a stand still. The creatures are now all hard frozen in place, unable to move. Not wanting to take any more chances, Shaa aims for the creatures center mass and one two punches her as hard as he can. As he does so, the spider bursts into a thousand frozen pieces that spray across the ground. Despite his reenforced hands, Shaa still felt the strikes force in his knuckles. He eats one of the magic chocolate coins to make himself feel better. Well, I guess they weren’t a total waste. Let’s get out of here.
As they continued to hurry through the forest, something was bothering him. What do you think that she meant? For the king? Is the artist or is there something else here? The sooner we find this guy and get out here, the better. This place is messing with me. This was becoming problematic. They had managed to stay alive so far and Shaa could summon water. But other things like food or even the air. Who knows how long it would last. Shaa checked his various senes periodically for any trace of the man but to no avail. Where in the world could he be?

Rosen pants with heavy breaths as Shaa shattered this large creature. "That was too close..."
The undead followed Shaa stood by his side. The combat helped distract Rosen from the hunger but he knew if he spent time here any longer, he may do something he'll regret. He was taken out of his thoughts as Shaa asked a good question. "If I had to guess, the creations here worship the artist. If a giant thing like that spider woman was there, I'd say this artist is down that way. At the same time though, why would he make something like that?" He visibly paused, realizing he made an inquiry that was much more intellectual that his norm. "Huh, uh... Or something like that?"
The two made their way through the forest. The trek itself being much less chaotic than the previous encounter. A good half hour later, they had reached the end as they passed through the tree line onto long plains with rolling hills. With a glance over the pretty sight, Rosen spotted on the top of a larger hill: A perfectly sculpted castle. The stone brick walls towered high with substantial towers. Dots of a crowd surrounded the walls as well, though hard to make out what made up the crowd. Humanoids or more creations? Rosen pointed to it. "That looks good. Kings are in castles."

Shaa nods his head in agreement. Yup, makes sense to me. As long as the castle isn’t full of dragons or giants or whatever, we should be in the right place. Let’s head on over and check it out. As the two approach the castle, Shaa wondered how this all was going to play out. Was this guy the victim or the victimizer? Were him and the woman in on it together? At this point, Shaa just wanted to get out of the painting, trash the studio and call it a day.
It doesn’t take long and they find themselves at the gate of the castle. The gate was a drawbridge over a large moat that surrounds the castle. Shaa walks over to the gate and calls out. Hello? Is anyone there? We are here to rescue an artist, your girlfriend or whatever misses you. Hello? They wait for a couple minutes, but no one responds. Shaa had come too far at this point to be deterred.
He walks over to one of the trees and leans hard into it. As he does so, he manages to pushes the tree over with a crash. Hmmm apparently Art trees have no roots. Nice. Shaa drags the large tree over and hauls it up against the wall of the castle over the moat. When he’s sure it’s stable, Shaa runs up the trunk to the top of the castle wall. Looking back he calls. It’s sturdy, come on up. It’s time to find this guy and get out of here.

Rosen was surprised to see the feat of strength from the mythed minotaur. Of course, he had figured Shaa to be like the stories he read. However, much like meeting him in the first place, seeing it was incredibly different than believing. With a small hop, Rosen marched across the makeshift bridge. The seedlings he had made hopped off his shoulders and mimicked him, doing a tiny march behind the elf boy.
Once across, Rosen realized another issue. "Ok so this big ol' drawbridge is our only way in. Considering how perfect things are here, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say there isn't a small hole we can squeeze through. Plus even if there were-" He quickly looks Shaa up and down. "I'm pretty sure I'll be the only one who can fit in. No offense." Putting a hand to his chin, the undead thought to himself whilst tapping his foot. What to do, what to do... Well that might cause a problem with the guards... Wait-
1The little zombie elf called out his vines once more and wrapped it around the handle of his scythe. Holding his weapon above his head, he began to swing it, building up speed. One more spin later, Rosen tosses his scythe high into the air with the vines still connected. He manipulates the vines, controlling the thrown weapon's trajectory as it sinks into the top of the wooden drawbridge. His seedlings bounce up and down in cheer. He tugs on it, looking to Shaa. "Mind using your big boy strength on this one? Oh and be ready for any upset guards."

With grit and wit, the two adventurers finally break into the inner court yard of the castle. For a castle so large, Shaa is surprised that it was so empty. Empty, but strangely perfect. The castle had all of the trappings of a thriving palace. There were flags and banners on the walls. There were carts, buggies and stands in the courtyard. There were even unspoiled plates of food in the kitchen and on the table. There were just no people around to eat them.
Hello? A voice came from down a long ornate hallway lined with empty suits of armor. Is someone there? Shaa motions to Rosen to follow him towards the voice down the hall. As they go, Shaa watches the empty armor with an adventurer’s skepticism. It wouldn’t be the first time seemly lifeless things suddenly jumped up to attack them. The soon come to a giant set of double doors. Hello, I can hear you. Who are you? Came the voice from inside the chambers. Well no time like present.
Shaa puts his large shoulder to one of the doors and pushes. The door, despite its large size, is surprisingly light. The big Minotaur is able easily push it wide. The two find themselves in a large throne room. A middle aged man with a thick beard and somewhat tattered clothes is sitting at the foot of the throne. A golden crown is laying next to him, obviously neglected. The man looks at them with concern in his voice. Who are you? Have you come for me at last?

With everything they've seen so far, Rosen wasn't so trusting of the situation. Raising their weapon and pointing it at the man, he leaned over to Shaa. "Is this our guy? He looks a little scraggy for a week in here." "Wait, wait, please. Carmella forced you into here right?" The mention of the name caught the reanimated's attention. He lowered his weapon, though still on edge. "Figures... I'm sorry lads." The man pulls himself off the throne and hobbles his way over to the two. Upon closer inspection, one could tell he has not eaten in his time here: The body bearing little to no fat nor muscle. The general look of him was rugged with greasy hair and a prominent stench to it. Most concerning is the dried paint around his mouth. Despite that, he looks close to tears as he looks hopeful to what he believes his are saviors, even looking past the odd pairing.
"Please, you need to destroy it. I've managed to lock to in the depths of this castle-" "Woah woah, hold for a second. Destroy what? Big fellow here has a thing to pull us out. Lets just leave." Even with the encompassing hunger, Rosen was damned if they got deeper into this mess. The man sighs, obviously in a hurry but understanding nonetheless. "Alright, just please lets walk and talk. I'm sure we all want out of this infernal nightmare." He begins to start guiding the two to a door to the side. Opening it displays a dark staircase leading down. The man grabs a torch off the wall, leading the way down now. The undead looks to the minotaur, gives a shrug, and follows the man down.
"So, whats the deal?" "Well as I'm sure my wife told you, I made this place accidentally. I had used a... particular tool that really shouldn't be used for this but I'm sure you fellow men would understand wanting to give your beloved the best right?" "Ehh, can't relate. Regardless, what exactly are we breaking?" "I managed to inscribe the most recent breakthrough in the arcane, a formula if you will, into the paints I used. I'm not sure how long you two have been here but this place is twisted, the ether that holds this place moving uncontrollably. Believe me, I'd love nothing more than to leave and burn this damn painting but these paints are tougher than that. Destroying the canvas would lead to... consequences. It is the only thing keeping it contained and it would be irresponsible to simply leave it as is. The paint needs to be dealt with at the source."

As Shaa followed them down the stairs, he simply shrugged at the question. I am on the road all the time and I live in a big hole. I’m not exactly good “boyfriend” material. Besides, Minotaur women are pretty stabby and evil. The haggard man looks at him quizzically and continues down the stairs, talking about taking the paint out at the source. Shaa shakes his large head.
Wait wait wait. You mean you tell me you are not the one summoning the spider creatures that have been trying to eat us all day? Well that was good news and bad news. It was good that he wasn’t going to have to punch an already beat up guy in the face. Bad news was their job wasn’t quite finished. It would be admittedly easier to deal with this mess while it was contained. Who knows what it would do if it got outside. Ugh, fine. We deal with the paint then get out of here. So tell us about this “particular tool” of yours and why it’s trying to murder us.
The man sighed a bit, stopped, then turned to the two adventurers. Well….I suppose I should tell you. The item we are looking for is a small black box, about this big. He holds up his hand to roughly measure out a box big enough to be held in one hand. The box was a gift from a friend. He knew I was a struggling artist and he said the box could help me. He had warned me to just use it for inspiration but nothing else. I wish I had listened. Still confused, he waits for the man to continue. The box, you see, was not really a box at all, but a prison. A prison with only one prisoner, a devious Mephit by the name of Trallus. And there was the other shoe.
The man continues down the stairs. It wasn’t bad…at first. He would get me things to paint. Do favors and errands for me. He got to be free of his box so it was a good deal for him too. One day, I had run out of paints. I was so busy and on a deadline so instead of getting more… You asked him to create you paints ….Shaa said with emphasis. Come on man! You never ever take something made by a Mephit! Like, everyone knows that! I know I know! But he was so nice and helpful. And the paint was so life like. Yeah I bet! This was making so much more sense. Ok where is the little bastard? The party comes to a large stone landing at the bottom of the stairs and points at a dense wooden door with a lock off to one side. In there….

Rosen didn't really follow any of this talk of mephits but it seemed the man trusted someone untrustworthy. "Well, all we have to do is beat this thing or stuff it in the box again right?" "Not quite that simple, my boy. You see, these paints it made... It being a creation of it, it also has full control. Creation with whatever it wishes, the only limit being its imagination. Although Trallus refuses to hurt me, it also refuses to let me leave." "Right. Well, lets get this over with Shaa!" Rosen unsheathed his scythe and struck the lock to no avail. "Um, ahem... Lets get this over with!" He slashed the wooden door, swinging rapidly and striking multiple times until the door had hole to squeeze through. He moved in, ready to face whatever was being kept here.
The room was humongous, a damp space nearly as big as the entire castle whilst being held by massive stone pillars. At the very end of the room, a canvas as big as a building sat with the image of the studio the two originally were. However, floating in front of it, a glowing orange orb. Several wings of different clolors, made entirely out of paint, kept close around it. It turned to looked down on the undead. A child-like voice echoed throughout the room. "Hello! Are you here to play?!" Rosen aimed the scythe at it, not trusting it at all. "Stow it! I know you've been keeping this guy here! Let us pass!" The glow of the orange orb dulled, revealing the mephit's form inside, appearing to be one of a water elemental. The color of its orb began to shift, transitioning into a dark red. "Oh, so he sends you after all I've done for him?"
Its wings fully unfurled, growing ever larger as it blocks the view of the canvas. "You will not leave. We will make this place beautiful."

As Shaa watched the menacing figure grow unnaturally large, he chided himself for ever leaving the bar. Every friggen time Shaa. Every time. This little beasty was not going back into his box without a fight. But where was the box? Shaa turns to the ragged man. This is going to get hairy quick, do you see the box? The man squints and looks around the massive room. No no, this is all wrong. He complained. He’s still just out on a pass. He can’t be anymore than 10 feet from his box. It has to be somewhere around here, it has to be!
The big Minotaur looks around again. He sees the room, the edges of the canvas behind the ever-growing Mephit but no box. He is probably hiding it. You have to go find it and we will keep it distracted. Me? But I cant. It will be fine….I think. You are bound to his box, I’m pretty sure he can’t actually hurt you. Well, directly at any rate. You just have to dive in. But I’m scared…and so tired…and hungry. Shaa is getting frustrated at the defeatist attitude. Listen man! I am not getting stuck down here with you and I’m definitely not gotten taken out by some demon wannabe. Shaa grabs him by the front of his shirt and shoves him forward. Move it! He turns to Rosen.
You watch out for Mr Whiney pants. As soon as he finds the box, make sure that lid gets shut! Shaa turns to the Mephit who is staring at the group with an evil grin. Done with all your little plans are you? Here, have a free picture on me! The now giant Mephit twists his hands around an invisible sphere. As he motions with his ands several large globs of paint are gormong something below him. Suddenly a burst of flame erupts towards the group from the Mephits hands. Shaa summons a wall in front of them to protect them from the blast. He places his own hands on the wall and summons spikes to emerge from the other side. With a final push, a large shower of spikes blasts towards the Mephits midsection from the impromptu wall. Find that friggen box!

Rosen took no time to move. Grabbing the painter, he rushed further from Shaa as he took a long berth to the side of Trallus. He raised scythe into a defensive stance whilst the named Whiney Pants searched over the floor for a box.
The spikes flew over, colliding with the orb around the mephit. Small cracks formed but beyond that, the attacks did little damage. The little sprite reeled a hand back as a ball of blue paints formed beside it, growing bigger and bigger before being launched towards the minotaur.
"Stay hidden. I'm gonna help out the big guy." "But what if-" "I am really close to considering biting your entire face off! Just go look!" 1Rosen flicked out his hand, sending his fellow seedlings out from his sleeve. "Help him look!" With that, the undead sprinted across the room towards the mephit.
He approached the large being and began slicing at the painted wings, the scythe passing through with ease but not doing anything noticeable beyond coating the blade. Trallus turned to him, anger in its eyes. "Hey! Don't mess with my paints! They're not for you!" A thought popped into the undead's punctured head. These paints were made to create life-like things... what if... He gazed at his weapon, the blade covered in a mess of orange and yellow paints. Trallus readied another ball of blue, flinging it down at Rosen. The sylvan jumped back, swinging his scythe at the ground and causing the paints on it to flick on the stone cold floor. He closed his eyes and thought for a moment. Something orange and yellow... Like a sunset? When he opened his eyes again, the paints he threw lifted off the floor, coalescing into a sphere. For some odd reason, heat began to emit off of it. The blue ball hardened and began cracking the closer it got, falling apart and catching fire once it collided with the orange and yellow sphere. Rosen knew exactly what had happened. "Shaa! We can make stuff out the paints he throws at us!"
