Damn that impatient kid.
Zarius stops just in time to cover his ears and limit the damage from the crack of thunder from the storm drake’s lightning strike. He’d have to reprimand her later about that. Not only was it hazardous when others were around, but it drew far too much attention to the conflict. Last thing they needed to do was draw any reinforcements out to join the fray, or announce a distracting situation for any opportunistic thugs or assassins.
Remaining on the roof, the fellblood turns his annoyance from his young ally down towards the cultists in the streets below. He does not immediately jump into the fray as Danae rushes in. He instead remains on the rooftops and watches Danae closely as she starts her slaughter of the goons. This was a good opportunity to see the woman’s skill level, and by that same logic, determine just how dangerous– or useful– she was.
Meanwhile, Indra circles overhead again, keeping a keen eye out for if any of the thugs try to make a break for it. Shael leans over from her saddle and scans the group for any shifty business.
Sure enough, four of the remaining seven goons unload some heavy crossbows from the back of the wagon. They load up with crossbow bolts and divide their attention between the circling drake and the woman armed with a weapon of limited reach.
Two take cover behind the wagon before firing up at Indra who luckily is not a stranger to being shot at. The experience in the lawless and everything-goes Dvory races came in handy in real combat. The drake folds its wings to reduce how big of a target it is and goes into a spiral, evading the two fired bolts. The pair of the drake and rider lose some altitude but then Indra flares her wings back out before they get dangerously close to crashing into the corner of a building before launching herself back up into the air.
The other two cultists with crossbows focus on stopping the immediate threat on the ground from advancing any closer to their remaining allies. They take two shots at Danae once the ally that cut her jumps clear before they have to pause and reload with more bolts.

And now, the fight truly begins in earnest. The drake overhead doing what it does best and Danae doing what she was sent down to do. Hearing the distinct sounds of crossbow bolts being let loose, she is able to utilize the length of her polearm to hook the bearded blade behind the neck of her foe and yank them toward her. With some clever footwork she is able to pull the man in front of the line of fire initially aimed for her, using the poor sod as a human shield.
The maneuver took just enough time to work, but the edge of a broad-headed bolt sliced into the side of her, missing but not doing so without letting her know about it. The other crossbow bolt flew true and hit what should have been Danae in the stomach. Discarding the man like a useless tool, her attention focused onto the arbalests as they rushed to reload. Upsettingly enough for them, however, they wouldn't get the chance to do so.
Danae's hair began to float as if in zero gravity as she began channeling her magic. It made her look awfully sinister and evil in a way - at least to her, but she really didn't care in this moment. The ashen sky parted just enough for a brilliant golden beam of light to engulf the both of her attackers1, and she didn't let up until she felt like they were appropriately toasted. Even then, the beam didn't stop, only shifted as it quickly began moving toward the other two arbalests. The other pair would live to see another.. couple of minutes as two other cultists decided to take advantage of her distracted state. This promptly broke her concentration on her Sky Beam of Appropriately Toasting Cultists (SBATC or Spatsy as she likes to call it), causing the beam to vanish and the ashen air to reclaim what was taken.
Danae was put onto the backfoot by these guys, and was stuck there for a decent moment until one floundered, opening themselves up too much. Due to their proximity, the halberd wasn't on the table but she was. Like a lunatic, she switched her momentum from going backwards to charging forward, shoulder bashing the poor shmuck who messed up just a little bit. While he wasn't put down onto the ground, it caught him off guard and gave her a bit of breathing room.
Three down already, Shael has taken down.. None yet. Come on, love, I have faith, zap the dumb pricks. She thinks to herself, mid halberd swing toward the second cultist engaging her.

Okay, well, if the sound of thunder and the flash of lightning fails to draw any unwanted attention, the freaking godly beam of light certainly would. Discretion didn't seem to be something in astralblood vocabularies. Zarius rolls his eyes a bit. Angels. What could you do? Still, Danae seemed more than capable of holding her own in battle given her performance so far.
Shael circles Indra back around and sets the drake's sights on the wagon with the two arbalests hiding behind it. The cover would do little to save them from the drake's lightning breath, especially since Shael didn't really care about any collateral damage towards anything they were hauling.
The drake dives toward the wagon, the underside of its scale-plated throat gleaming as it charges up another bolt of electrical energy. The goons scramble to reload, but it's already too late by the time the strike is unleashed and hits the side of the wagon, setting anything flammable within it ablaze. Which just so happens to include a couple casks of gunpowder. Which just so happen to explode. Which just so happens to destroy the wagon, knock back the goons, and send shards of wood scattering across the ground.
Great. The drake and rider were just as loud and boisterous as the self-proclaimed angel. It's enough to make the fellblood facepalm.
With the wagon now destroyed and crackling with fire, the cultists look a bit more worried about the situation. Some of them attempt to grab what they can from the wreckage in an attempt to save what they can, while others start looking like they're ready to cut their losses and bolt.
One backs up towards and alleyway just below where Zarius was invisibly perched just as the fellblood decides he should probably get involved in the fight himself. The poor sucker doesn't even have a chance to react before Zarius drops down off the roof and knocks him to the ground.[1]
The hit is solid, and easily knocks out the grunt, but the fellblood's invisibility does drop thus making it evident that he was there. Not wanting to give the cultists a chance to scatter, Zarius darts around the the street turned battlefield specifically targeting those who were trying to scatter. He's fast and experienced enough with fighting much fiercer foes and creatures that it doesn't take long for him to cripple two other goons, though Danae would notice that the fellblood goes for non-lethal strikes to the limbs using his bare fists.[2,3]
Seeing the tide of the fight quickly turning against them, the cultists scramble to put up one more final stand against their assailants. Though given how things were going, it was likely not going to be successful unless they had a significant trick up their sleeve.

Danae followed through with her cleave, raking a long gash across the swordsman's chest as the spear head cuts through cloth and flesh as easily as it whistles through the air. The sharpness of her weapon is something she takes a lot of pride in, and she takes great care ensuring that it's hazardous to even clean, let alone swing. Luckily for the cultist, they were able to back up enough to avoid the axe-head, but not far enough to avoid the spear tip.
The smell of ozone and the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end tell her exactly what she needs to know. The unmistakable wing beats of a particular drake and it's rider dive and fire, raining burning pieces of wood and stone across the battlefield. The smile on Danae's features only widens as she hears the clatter of debris hitting the flagstone beneath their feet, ignoring the debris hitting her.
The two cultists aren't quite thrown, but stumble back from the shockwave produced by what felt awfully like a bunch of barrels filled with gunpowder. They were far enough away from the cart where they're not in any real danger of flying shrapnel digging into them, but it's not pleasant either. Danae's ears are ringing again (gods dammit) but that doesn't slow her roll. Taking advantage of the massive distraction, Danae sidesteps and brings her halberd up like a spear and thrusts forward, piercing into the poor guy who only just barely got nicked by the edge.
For a moment, her adrenaline tunnel vision'ed her into just the one guy she just killed. She is reminded of the other persons presence by a large slash down her back. Her leather armor helped with most of the blow, but it still dug into her and still hurt like a motherfucker. Unable to pull out her halberd in time, she lets it go, still embedded in the fallen corpse. In each hand, golden light forms into small daggers1, one of which in a reverse grip.
She moves forward, relying more on evasion than parrying oncoming blows as she continues moving forward, forcing her quarry onto the backfoot. Instead of the metal ring expected from blades clashing, it's more of an electrical crash. Of course, electricity is very much not involved, but it's the closest thing Danae could describe the sound to. It doesn't take long for Danae to find a moment to launch a proper offensive, and when she does, she riddles the poor guy in cuts that burn and cauterize immediately. She's able to inflict a large amount of these cuts before backing off and repeating the process.
It takes what feels like ages to get the man to fall, but was more like, fifteen seconds. When he falls, she plunges the daggers into his chest, one directly into his heart where they vanish into nothing, and the body is left to cool. She retrieves her halberd and begins making her way toward the final group, spotting Zarius fighting his own cultist. It doesn't miss her that he's preferring to use non-lethal - be that because he's unable to go lethal or simply preference, she doesn't know. Did he want to go non-lethal? Uh, whoops?
Deciding to continue down her Tattoo Clearing Spree (It's not murder, it's redemption) she begins hurling more purity bolts toward the remnants. Her mind is distracted, however, as there seems to be more than initially planned. Wait wait, one, two, threefourfivesix, seven.. eight. Huh, did I miscount? Shit, oh well.

Shael gets Indra to circle back around, snatching up one of the fleeing cultists in her talons along the way and then unceremoniously dropping him on some crates stacked up in the street adjacent to the fight. His shout of alarm is quickly cut off by the sound of splintering wood as he impacts the crates. Luckily for him, they weren't full of anything sharp and pointy, though he'd hardly leave without a mark.
Zarius meanwhile picks off a few more trying to flee before he corners one against the wall of a building. The cultist holds up their hand in defense as the fellblood winds up a punch to their face. Sending the punch forward however, it does not connect with the cultists nose and instead passes right through them and cracks into the wall behind their head.
An illusionary double.
The fellblood clicks his tongue in annoyance, so there was a spellcaster amongst the group. He whirls around and scans the area. How many more of these fools were fakes?
"Hey!" he calls out to Danae. "Some of these are illusions!"
Just then a bolt from a crossbow flies towards the fellblood's chest. He reacts quickly, managing to catch the flying projectile with his bare hands before throwing it into the back of a nearby cultist.[1,2] The bolt finds its mark and sinks deep into their back.
Well, at least that one isn't an illusion.

The shout from Zarius confirms her suspicions on there being far more than originally advertised. While she wasn't expecting illusions, she isn't exactly against it. It's an annoyance, sure, but it's a good way to challenge herself. She begins walking toward the crowd, giving Zarius the 'Ok Hand', confirming his shout was heard as her eyes begin scanning the crowd.
Generally, spellcasters have a tell when they're casting or maintaining a spell. For Danae, it's dependent on the spell but most of the time, her hair goes all floaty. For others, it could be glowing eyes, a constant chant or even a constant somatic component. Now of course this isn't something that all spellcasters have, but it's good for most. With this in mind, Danae looks for anybody who looks like they're maintaining a spell.. or twenty.
As she approaches, she isn't left unimpeded. Three more cultists run at her, and she goes onto the defensive. If an illusory cultist tries to hit her, their attack would phase through whatever is in the way. At least that's the operating theory. As attacks begin to rain down on Danae, only one of the three appear to never connect, which is a relief. Fighting 1 vs 3 isn't good odds, no matter who is fighting. 1 vs 2 is a little more manageable.
Switching to the offensive, Danae pushes the both of the real cultists back and quickly fires off a Purity Bolt into the stomach of one before directly engaging the other, using momentum of her weapon and the weight of the blade to essentially brute force through whatever defenses they put up. In a single fell swoop, the incredibly sharp edge digs and slices easily through the unarmored flesh, felling the cultist in an almost disappointingly anti-climatic way.
Danae twists and swings the halberd into the other cultist, still staggered by the bolt to the stomach and receives yet another stomach wound in the form of 'Big Ass Halberd'. Danae marks off two more names in her mind, preparing herself for the aftermath. Now that her aggressors are either dead or dying, the illusion disappears, and Danae's march toward the group continues.
"Come on, where are you, ya daft prick."

Danae can more than handle herself, so Zarius isn't too worried about coming to her aid. The most important thing was to keep from being blindsided by the caster hiding amongst the riffraff. He was well-trained to combat mages, but who could say the same for the fallen angel.
Turning invisible, Zarius slips back around the remaining cultists.[1] Their numbers had dwindled to just a few stubborn souls desperate for an escape route. They could beg for their lives, but this was Darkveil, and they knew that any deal they try to cut or being captured would have consequences that could be far worse the cold embrace of death.
Sneaking up behind the group, the unseen fellblood is quick to take out the last of the cultists wielding a crossbow. Now the group had few options to keep Danae from getting in range with her weapon other than their sneaky spellcaster. One of the others takes a swing at the fellblood after seeing their ally drop to the ground knocked out from a precise strike to the back of their head.[2]
Zarius is quick to hold his hand up to the incoming blade and stop it mid-swing without getting slashed to ribbons.[3]
He eyes the man who is in shock from the turn of events. "Dealer's choice, you can either fall to me or to her."
"Fuck you, we didn't want any trouble!"
"I rather doubt that. This is Darkveil after all."
The man glances back over his shoulder at Danae who is nearly upon them now, sweat dripping down his brow. There was no denying it or getting around it now. They're thoroughly fucked.

The inexorable march of Danae, the Drake flying overhead and now Zarius having caught a swinging blade, it takes no genius to see that the remaining forces morale has been shattered. Danae knows no mercy, however. Not for them. Her eyes lock with the unfortunate soul dealing with Zarius, and you could almost see the poor mans pores begin to release all the sweat they had. Her march continues, her own blood running down and staining clothes, her blade dripping blood from those unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of it, and a look in her eye that promises more bloodshed.
"You." She swings her halberd up to point the spearhead at a cultist, who hesitated just a split second too long on whether to attack or not. Danae's voice rings out in an intimidating and commanding tone. "Spellcaster. Now." She orders. The cultist doesnt move, and unfortunately Danae is lacking in the patience department right now.
Danae darts forward, and very aggressively places the spearhead on the cultists shoulder, forcing the hood off of his head with the edge up against his neck. A line of blood spills out slowly, confirming the sharpness of the blade even through the fighting. "I don't quite remember stuttering. Your spellcaster, now." And even still, the cultist doesn't move. Whether that's out of defiance or fear, Danae doesn't know and doesn't particularly care. With a groan of frustration, Danae pulls the halberd back and plunges it back into the cultists stomach, kicking him down and off her blade.
"Come on, mister - or miss - Spellcaster," She addresses the group. The remaining cultists look unsteady and uneasy. Both from Danae's extreme aggression to Zarius managing to get behind the group with nobody noticing him, and finally the circling Drake overhead. "Come here, I have a few questions for you that if you answer truthfully, I might let the rest of you all and perhaps the ones my friend Zarius knocked out leave."
Danae is pacing in front of the group, burning pieces of debris scattered across the street, bodies laying lifeless or unconscious, marking both paths to where they are now. Unfortunately, a particular cultist decides to play hero, and fires a crossbow at Danae.
As the bolt flies, it takes less than a second for it to reach Danae. However, between Danae and the bolt, a translucent figure appears. It seems to be a woman, much shorter than Danae at roughly 5'9 compared to Danae's 6'5. Faint colors can be seen, and the woman appears to have long brown hair and emerald green eyes - clearly human. The figure catches the bolt and drops it to the ground1.
Danae wasn't prepared for this, it seems. Her eyes are locked with the figure that is oh-so familiar to her, although not having seen her in a very long time. "Tsk." The figure tuts almost disapprovingly to Danae before turning toward her, a dearly missed and eternally warm smile aimed at Danae. "Always getting yourself into trouble, aren't you? Still chasing down your Redemption?"
It takes a moment for Danae to respond, momentarily stunned before steeling herself. "Always." She says before looking toward Zarius, almost an unspoken question of 'Are we done here?'. It appears that this new figure has changed her mind very, very quickly.
The translucent figure smiles before approaching Danae, going up on her tip-toes and plants a kiss to her cheek before vanishing. To those not actively fearing for their lives, it is clear that Danae is suddenly fragile, strangely enough. She seems to be keeping it together for now, however.

Zarius stands back and lets Danae handle things, watching closely as she makes the cultists reconsider their entire existence up until this point.
When one makes a move to attack her, he almost jumps to defend the angel woman, but then stops as he feels the buzz of magic in the air. He expects it's the spellcaster again, but the appearance of a shimmering woman defending the angel proves that it is quite the opposite. He tilts his head a bit to the side after witnessing the sudden appearance of the strange woman. His eyes then dart past to the rooftops behind Danae as if spotting something there while Shael and Indra continue to circle overhead.
He shifts his weight back on one leg while tucking his hands into his pockets. Danae's look speaks louder than words and he nods before letting out a sharp whistle.
An arrow strikes two of the remaining cultists in the head while another is pierced by an invisible blade from behind. Appearing out of invisibility and wielding a rapier is a tall half-elf in a long black cloak. He withdraws his sword's blade from the cultist's back as blood bubbles up in their throat and they fall forward onto the ground, bleeding out.
Zarius surveys the scene with all threats now either dead or out cold on the ground. He then looks at the tall half-elf.
"Took you two long enough."
The half-elf man flicks the blood off his blade before sheathing it. He then makes some hand gestures toward the fellblood to communicate either a retort or an explanation.
Zarius seems to accept whatever is meant through the gestures and turns his attention back to Danae. "We will take things from here. Thank you for your assistance."
The sound of someone landing on the ground after jumping down from the roof behind her may catch her attention as a lithe snow leopard catfolk armed with a longbow starts dragging over the unconscious bodies into the center of the street.
Shael brings Indra swooping in low and lands the silver drake near the smoldering wagon. "Course you two show up when there's hardly any work to do."
The catfolk and the half-elf ignore her snide comments and go about their business of checking pockets and the wagon for things of value.

Danae is still. Unsure on what to think, how to feel and, truthfully, more than a little scared. For now, she's perfectly aware of what is coming, and turns to look for somewhere to sit for a couple to catch her breath and ride out the awaiting agony. Finding a rather well placed bench, she hastily walks over and sits down delicately.
Until her tattoo's begin burning off her skin, she has time to sit and think. Truly have time to debate if what she saw was the product of adrenaline and surging emotions. It wouldn't be the first time she hallucinated somebody in the heat of battle. She's not left to think for long, as the translucent woman returns, shimmering into being next to Danae. Not a word is spoken, but Danae notices.
"Told you so." She says, her trademark smile curving the corners of her lips up. A smile Danae has sorely missed for a long, long time. Danae in her already fragile state simply shatters as she hangs her head between her knees and silently cries. The unfortunate limitations of a incorporeal body prevent Danae from outright tackling this woman, but it appears some level of touch is still possible on Danielle's side of things.
A gentle hand comes down and rests on Danae's back, slowly running circular motions and quietly shushing Danae's cries. The ground, littered with bodies, Danae covered in blood and an entire drake all fade from her mind as she latches onto the only familiarity that she cherishes. Her wife.
Her cries morph into groans of pain as black smoke begins pouring from Danae. A number of names being removed at once, creating a frankly agonizing moment, even with Danielle's support. Her pain lasts a couple minutes, feeling like hours to her. This is never pleasant, but necessary. Soon enough it does end and Danae sits up and leans back on the bench, her hands rubbing her face.
"Unfortunately, Solaris is awfully persistent, even in death so.. To answer your question, I instead called Jalkrieth a bitch and found my way here." Danielle says in her soft, gentle voice. Danae chuckles before finally turning to look at the woman proper.
"Never doubted you for a moment."
"Oh, I know you never did, dear. We've been married for.. Phew, Hundred and.. twenty seven years technically? I know you, Danae, you're too damn stubborn to doubt me."
Danae laughs again, the tears never stopping for a moment as she simply recovers and cherishes this time. Danae knows she can't be around constantly but.. That's okay. Perhaps her days can be less painful to wade through, now. Both in a literal and metaphorical sense.
The two of them take a moment to simply watch the street, their eyes primarily on the massive drake but also quietly wondering who the new pair of people are that are looting the corpses. Questions for Zarius, perhaps.. Wherever that fellblood is.

Shael hops down off Indra and steps over the bodies over to Zarius. She looks at Danae with curiosity but does not approach since she seems to be going through something and she's not about to risk getting skewered on her weapon.
"Is she okay?"
The fellblood shrugs, keeping an eye on the smoking angel while also keeping an eye out for any more trouble appearing out of the alleyways. Commotions like this tend to draw attention, and attention in Darkveil is rarely a good thing.
"Hells if I know. You can ask her yourself."
Shael rolls her eyes. "You're such an ass."
"You have told me many times."
"Yeah, cause it's true."
Their banter is interrupted by the catfolk approaching with something in hand.
"Master Zarius."
The catfolk shows him what they found and he nods in response before the feline-like individual pockets the item.
"Pile the bodies for clean up, those unconscious will go for questioning."
The catfolk nods affirmatively. "Yes, sir."
Zarius then glances at Shael who is just standing near him with her arms folded. "You could help."
Shael raises an eyebrow. "I already did my work for the day. And I don't do heavy lifting."
He rolls his eyes at her retort. Teenagers. Stepping away, he approaches Danae when things look like they're calming down on her end. He's wary of the spectral woman, but he's seen weirder and there's been no hint of hostility directed at him as of yet.
"Are you alright?"

Danae isn't sure what to think. She should be helping with the aftermath but with the tattoos and her fucking wife making an appearance, she feels like she has a good reason to take a time out, at least for a while. Despite the turmoil that Danae is going through, she's frankly the happiest she's been in.. Quite some time.
For now, Danae is simply watching the cleanup. It's nothing special, her eyes are following the two newcomers as they've piqued her interest slightly as they loot the corpses, gathering who knows what. They seem to work for Zarius in some capacity which isn't surprising, but something to note.
It's rather nice to actually enjoy simply sitting down for a while. She hasn't been secretive about her disdain for her own company, and the ability to simply sit and relax in silence was something only really achievable with Danielle. Having that back, at least for now is an indescribable feeling.
Danae is broken out of her reverie by Zarius approaching her. Frankly she wasn't expecting that and was caught slightly off guard.
"Huh? Oh, yeah I'm fine. Better than fine, actually. Gods this is gonna be weird to say but my dead wife is only kinda dead now."
"Nope, still very, very dead. No less dead than last you checked."
"Oh piss off, let me have this," Danae says, drawing a chuckle from Danielle. "But yeah, Zarius, this is Danielle, Danielle, Zarius. Can't quite shake hands I'm fairly sure." Danielle shakes her head no, seemingly saddened. Danae takes the cuffs of her sleeves and wipes her eyes, taking a deep breath before standing up and slinging her halberd onto her back.
"Mkay, that's enough emotions for a good while. What you need done? Clean up the bodies, obviously. I'm assuming you want the unconscious ones to remain unconscious and not dead. There's also a lot of debris n' whatnot from the numerous stunts that Shael conducted."
Danae looks over Zarius's shoulder and calls out to Shael. "Brilliant job, by the way!"
"You're only saying that cause she looks badass riding a drake."
"First of all, don't call me out like that," Danae says, turning to Danielle with a playful scolding look. "Second, it's a mix of actual encouragement and thinking she looks badass riding a drake. I mean, come on, tell me you don't agree."
"Never said I didn't agree. And no, I won't stop calling you out, your reactions are funny."
"Piss off."
"Case in point." She says with a wry, amused smile. Danae rolls her eyes and turns back to Zarius.
"But yes, I'm fine, thank you for asking. What do you need me to do?"

Zarius glances between Danae and Danielle. He's not entirely sure what to make of the angel's situation, seems things are always complicated for their kind.
"No need for you to over-exert yourself," he reassures. "Whatever you are going through seems painful, both physically and emotionally. We have things under control."
Shael gives a thumbs up to Danae when she shouts out her compliment.
"Do not praise her too much. Her ego is already enough trouble." Zarius sighs. "I do not think I need anything more from you, unless there is other business you wish to discuss."
Really, their meeting was happenstance and this whole thing could have been handled much differently had Danae not gotten involved. Not to say it would have been any less messy, just that it would have been different. She probably saved them some trouble and a few wounds, but there was no way to really know.
He doubts there is anything Danae could really want from him, but he leaves the option for a conversation on the table. Maybe it is out of pity for the woman who so clearly is bound by duty and the will of others, or because he does owe her some thanks for her aid. More likely it's just out of habit. You never know when having an angel ally could come in handy.

Danae is slightly disappointed to hear that Zarius's people have everything under control, but Zarius's assurances are nice to hear nevertheless. "Physical? Yeah big time, shit hurts like nothing else. Emotionally, I'm great. Bit of a rollercoaster for sure, but everything is A-Okay. Again, I appreciate it."
Danae chuckles as Zarius warns her about Shael's ego, understanding far too well. "Mm, fair. Well, how about this: I don't exactly have a fixed way of contacting me, but if you ever find a way to actually get into touch, I'll be happy to help you with whatever the hell needs doing, yeah?"
Danae looks past Zarius again, to his.. employees? She is curious about something, however. "Real quick, mind if I ask what your.. associates? Employees? Are doing? They're looting something and I'm just wondering what that is, if anything in particular."
Zarius is an interesting individual. She's fairly sure she'd seen him at his Rookery at some point, and finally speaking with the man both meets and doesn't meet her expectations. She would definitely be willing to work with him again if he so needs her, and in recent decades, she's been prioritizing her progress for redemption than monetary gain. Both still extremely high priorities, but still, she wouldn't be expecting payment.
"I'd like to stay and chat, but I have a feeling that my time is running out for now. Danae, I will be back, don't think that promise was a one time thing. Nice meeting you, Zarius." Danielle says before waving, and vanishing from sight. Danae looks to where Danielle was, before looking back to Zarius.
"I don't recommend losing loved ones. Shit sucks." The understatement of the millennia.

"I can imagine," he quips in response to the comment about it hurting like nothing else. He's had his fair share of painful experiences. However, few things come close to the pain of having one's flesh melted off by an ooze.
He chuckles a bit at her comments about him finding a way to contact her. "I have my ways."
He is well-connected after all. It also helps that Danae's kind are few and far between. And that subtly seems to be a foreign concept amongst those from the heavens.
"I appreciate the offer, and I will keep it in mind. Likewise, if you require my aid, do not hesitate to reach out."
Zarius folds his arms and shifts his weight to one leg. "Of course, they are looking for anything of use. Correspondence that could inform us more of their motives and goals, personal effects which would help us identify who they are and their history, and anything else that might be dangerous and best kept out of scavenger's hands."
He pauses and glances back over his shoulder as Indra pries apart the charred wagon with her talons while the others stand back and watch. The tall half-elf does not seem overly pleased with Shael for having her drake do as such, but searching the wagon while it smolders also isn't very effective.
Zarius turns his attention back to Danae. "I can assure you, it is all just caution."
He nods to Danielle before she disappears. "A pleasure as well Miss Danielle."
There's a moment of silence between Zarius and Danae after her last comment. The fellblood seems to be lingering on those words for longer than what may be expected. He eventually gives Danae a friendly smile that is betrayed only by the coldness in his golden eyes.
"I have no doubts."
The others are just about done with the search when a few other cloaked individuals arrive on the scene, yet these people seem to be acquainted with the others. They're more heavily armored and appear to be some sort of personal militia or hired mercenaries. Not uncommon to see in Darkveil given its lack of a centralized official military force and reputation for being run by various powerful and wealthy criminal families and syndicates.
Zarius gives a nod to a few who give shallow bows when passing him. "Well, Miss Danae, I really should be getting back to work."
