Actually my four footed friend, I don’t tell that story often. One, because people probably wouldn’t believe it. And two, I don’t want the existence of fish goblins widely known. My little fishy friend deserves his time in the sun. Besides, I have SOOOO many other, much funnier stories than that. Like the time my friend thought I was a demon and we like wrecked a town. Or the time I sent an Owl Bear after a bunch of bandits. Classic. Shaa chuckled to himself as he chose a well lit tunnel and motioned Nami to follow him.
The next stop was the living room. As the two of them entered the medium sized cavern, large pillows and cushions covered the floor from one wall to the other. A large wooden table was in the center of the floor. The table held several candles and a pile of small wooden coasters for drinks. The walls were full of various “trophies” from Shaa’s many fights over the years.
This is the living room. So if you want to come relax or take a nap or have a conversation, this is the place to come. I warn you, the pillows are extra comfy. I have had more than one guest pass out in here. Shaa walks over to one of the walls near an old battered shield. He gently reaches out and touches a broken edge, causing the shield to shift just slightly. So I know you like storms. But why all the wandering? You aren’t running from something are you?

Following the large minotaur down another passage, she listened to his explanation. Nami admired the furnishings of his Living Room, plush pillows and artfully displayed trophies of all kinds combined with the warm torchlight to give the place a cozy feel. She pondered his follow up question for a moment before she chose to answer, tilting her head to one side as she considered the idea. It wasn't something the centaur really thought about much, since her oldest memories were of wandering the wilds and foraging for food.
"I never knew me parents, the wilds of the world were me family. Me first memories are of eating the plumpest, sweetest blackberries off a vine that grew near a river, when I was still a foal... It was a good many years before Socket took me in, brought me across Charon and worked with another to teach me about the world of people. You could say they were me adoptive parents, taught me to survive when I did run across folks instead of just bolting the other way like a wild deer might. I'm grateful for their time, effort and care... but that don't make me tail fit in any better with most folk. So I roam, much like a nomad might, chasin' storms and findin' plenty o' trouble to start, and finish along the way. Nothin' in this big world really to tie me down, and not much of a past to be skittish of. I hope that answers yer question Shaa, and eases your mind. I'll bring no trouble to your doorstep and invite none while I'm here. If ya feel I'm disturbin' your peaceful day, I'll kindly take me leave with no fuss."
Nami was used to being treated more like an animal than a person, so she did her best to try keeping things peaceful. She knew even among centaurs that she was an oddity, though as to the why, she might never discover. Having no real desire to track her parents down, she made the best of her days, practiced the magic Socket had taught her, and did her best to live in harmony with the wild world.

As Shaa listened to the backstory, he felt a touch of understanding. Nami was how he was after he had been freed from his indentured servitude with the nomad tribe. Wild and alone, she had been taken in by a mentor just as he had. Now, she felt the joy of freedom through self sufficiency, like he did. Yup, he could tell he liked her, or at least understood her.
Pssstttt nahhhh Shaa scoffed with a dismissive wave of his hand. Like I said, rooms like this are made for company and your more than welcome. I would just rather know ahead of time if other guests would be showing up. Shaa ran his hand along the flat side of a large scythe that was also mounted on the wall. My treatment of uninvited guests is markedly different, I can assure you. Shaa walks over to a small cabinet by the door. Pulling out a couple small wooden cups and a corked decanter from the cabinet, he places the cups on the top of the cabinet. Unstopping the decanter, Shaa pours a dark red liquid into both cups and offers one to Nami. Shrewberry juice, make it myself. Non Alcoholic if your wondering. I keep it in here because shrewberries only grow in one place. And that one place is surrounded by a clutch of feral griffons who do NOT like company. Almost lost a finger on that trip. Stupid thing is they don’t even like the berries, I think they just like being bastards. They never said so per se…but sometimes you can just tell by how someone looks at you. Their actual look says “ Hey man, I’m a bastard, and your day is going to suck today” He kind of gets lost in his head for a moment thinking about that bastard griffon and then comes back himself. Anywho, the juice is good and well won. It’s tangy and warms your toes, in our case hooves, with just a small hint of bastard. You wouldn’t think that was a flavor, but you would be wrong. Follow me to the next room and feel free to bring the cup. I’ll hold the torch for you.
Shaa walks out of the room with the torch in hand and down another hallway. This one leads to another room that is starkly different from the one they just left. The floor is bare and the ceiling is much higher than the living room. There are various mats rolled up against the wall as well as racks with sporting equipment. There are also several pieces of furniture that look like they are meant to be easily moved around. Welcome to the game room.

Nami nods, then takes a sip of the deep red liquid. Shaa's home was interesting and displayed the variety of their own travels. While she had no notion to own a home some day, she too collected small trinkets from her encounters. They were currently tucked into a pouch, but when she wore them, their leather braided cord kept the myriad of baubles like an oversized charm bracelet around her upper torso.
Carrying her cup and following the large minotaur down another adjoining hall, Nami pondered his tale of griffons and giggled to herself, then took another drink from her cup. It's rich sweetness and bold flavor finished with a tangy, acidic spice that gave the juice a complex flavor. She could understand why Shaa took the risk to go after such a treasure, and pondered making the journey herself... though she would probably enlist the help of a certain blue shaman, since it would be basically cheating. Knowing said shaman, she'd find a way to grow them in her garden too, and bring a griffon home for a pet... she giggled louder, almost running into Shaa as he had stopped in the next chamber.
She took a cursory look around, noting there were many different objects in the room. Since she'd only experienced a couple of the staple games of the Isles when she was still a teen, her knowledge of the boards, cards and little cubes with dots was limited. The only game she thought she recognized seemed to be set with the wrong pieces...
"What game is this Shaa? The board looks like a game played on the Isles, but it's... missing pieces and doesn't have enough of a grid to play properly." She indicated the checkerboard, thinking it to be a variant on the Reversi she was used to.

Shaa looked at the board and smiled. Ahhh that’s a good one. It’s called “checkers”. We play it at the fighters guild when we get bored. It’s not a very complicated game but it’s better than nothing. There is another game people play on the same board but I don’t know how to play that one. It’s super complicated and usually ends in broken furniture and fist fights. Chips? Something like that. Here, let me show you how this one works.
Shaa explains the rules and movements of checkers. They end up laughing a lot as piece after piece jumps around capturing each other. Once they finish off a couple of games, Shaa shows him darts, backgammon, and a strange game he had picked up in Sol City whose entire object is to get all the money in the game and leave everyone else destitute or in jail. He had tried it several times and still had a hard time understanding the fun of it.
Finishing off the cup, he places it on a nearby table and, torch in hand, leads them to next room. Ahh the next room is a new one. I built it as an addition when I needed a place to work out. This is the dojo. The next room has flat mats on the floor as well as training dummies and weapons. I’m mostly an unarmed combat guy and even invented a move in here. Shaa pulls out a training dummy and demonstrates his move. It’s called Shaa’s Flinch. Watch. Kind of tricky on a dummy. Shaa squares up to the dummy and makes a surprisingly fast feint drawing the dummy’s hand down. When it’s open, he springs back and punches the dummies head ckean off. Ooops, lose more dummies that way. So, in real combat, the move forces your opponent to block the strike, not doge it. When they do, it leaves them open to a second strike they also have to block. Very handy for weedly fighters who just run around everywhere. Shaa pushes a fresh dummy. Here, show me what ya got!
Shaa's Flinch Blade,Blunt, Polearm, Unarmed You make a sudden movement with your body that causes your opponent to block the wrong part of their body. This is followed up by your next attack having to be blocked by any means.

Nami enjoyed learning about new games with Shaa for a good while, laughing and trading a bit of friendly banter. She sipped from her cup between rounds or as her thirst demanded. As they were getting ready to move on to the next room, she refilled with fresh water and followed after the minotaur. As they moved through the tunnels, the centaur listened to the sounds of wind and rain outside.
Still howling, the heavy thud of rain seemed to have tapered off. Thunder still rumbled but it seemed far off to hear ear, though that may have just been because they were underground. This 'dojo' room was something entirely new to Nami, full of wooden dummies with mock weapons for teaching and training combat techniques. He took his time to do just this, demonstrating his own personal technique.
When he was done with his demo, he asked her to try as well. Being fairly novice with her own spear still, she welcomed the opportunity to learn from someone much more experienced. Try as she might, the weight of her spear and the awkwardness of the two part attack was beyond her current training and conditioning with the weapon at the moment. She wasn't terribly bothered though, her speed, magic and aim meant she had her pick of battles in most cases, able to keep her spacing and rain electrifying damage without much danger.
Afterward, she smiled breathlessly, glad to have been given such an opportunity to learn from a seasoned veteran such as Shaa.
"Would it be okay if I went outside? I'd like to go take a run through the rain to cool down, and enjoying the storm itself would be an added benefit. I'll gladly keep off the furniture til I'm dry again afterwards." Asked the young centaur, wanting to enjoy a good run through the cool, windy rains and be closer to the storm she'd come all this way to witness.

He claps at the centaurs attempts to wield the staff. She still had some work to do but she would get the hang of it, Shaa was sure of it. Shaa could hear the storm bustling around the outside. His Geosense could sense every drop of rain landing on the ground above them. You aren’t a prisoner here. Shaa said laughing. You want to go chasing lightning bolts, who am I to stop you?
Shaa puts the dummies away and heads back out the dojo. They swing by the storage area and grab a couple of towels for after the romp outside. They take the “X” tunnel and start to head towards the entrance. The closer they get, the louder that the sounds of the storm ring throughout the tunnel. As they reach the boulder, Shaa looks over and grins. Ok kiddo, you want to see some above ground nature, here you go. Shaa pushes the boulder out of the way. As soon as he does so, sloshy wind whips in soaking him to his core. Awesome. He holds out his hand , pointing down the valley. Go to the end and hang a left. There is a stone path that should take us higher. Let’s see what we got.

Nami didn't need much encouragement, setting her weapon down in the Dojo as the pair made their way back out into the storm. She was laughing and giddy by the time the rain had drenched her slender form and took off running into the deluge almost instantly. Overhead, the winds whipped the rain into a frenzy as an arc of lightning leaped across the clouds and created an explosive clap of thunder. The bright flash and intense change in pressure as the sound waves pressed down only seemed to excite the young lass even further. She pranced about, bounding over the earth as if her feet had no need of touching it.
She ran across the muddy ground, mouth wide open to swallow the heavy, clean drops of water as they fell. Chilled from their fall from high above, the cool rains helped Nami feel less cooped up. Roaring winds and flashes of lightning were why she'd come out to the Hills in the first place, to chase the storms and try to understand the natural forces that her own magic mirrored. As the last bits of her excitement calmed, she stood in the field with her arms wide and soaked in the storm. A calm washed over the centaur, and she steadied her breathing until she felt connected to the natural forces at work.

As Shaa watched Nami prance freely in the rain, he couldn’t help but be envious of the young centaur. Years of battle and conflict had hardened him against trebly letting go anymore. But that wasn’t completely true, not really. He was a true elementaist now. One with nature. He wasn’t experiencing nature, he himself WAS nature. If you asked most people, they would probably categorize him as a natural disaster that was fine.
Other than the centaur, there was no one here. Maybe, just this once, he could show someone what he had truly become? Nami…. Shaa spoke into the howling wind, letting his booming voice carry. Then he let go.
Wind whips around the Minotaur as he begins floating, suspended a foot in the air. He raises his arms and 4 stone pillars burst from the ground around him then start circling him in a clockwise direction. Shaa starts spinning, still suspended, in a counter clockwise direction and breathes fire at the pillars, igniting them as they continue to circle him. Shaa pushes his hands above and outward, like a conductor in a chorus of destruction. As he does so, ice shards begin to form above him, tossed about by the ever increasing wind currents.
Focusing hard, he reaches out and touches firey stone pillars as they pass him. As they do, the break into small stones that are still ablaze. Surrounded by tiny fire meteors around him and ice particles above him, Shaa summons a violent tornado in front of him that quickly sweeps up the meteors and ice particles which have now burst into steam. The culmination is a tornado that is on fire…..
Shaa’s bones are shaking with the strain of keeping all of this together. He should probably stop but he needs to know where his limits are, how far he can push it. Fighting the urge to vomit, Shaa opens salt water portals above and to the side of him, creating a giant sphere of water. Just one move….left. He raises his hand pointing to the howling sky and shoots a lightning bolt directly above him. As it releases, his body becomes pure electricity and follows the lightning into the sky. As he materializes, he can feel himself starting to fall back to the earth. He could slow down easily via his scarf or the clouds but he doesn’t want that. He wants to speed up. He forces himself into the fire elemental state and comes crashing heavily into the giant water sphere. The sphere explodes in steam and fiery rock, undercutting the fire tornado, splitting it into two. Shaa thrashes out his arms and, as fast as they arrived, everything vanished. The only thing left was the sound of rain as it splashed against the rocks.
Shaas legs were shaking. Combined elements were a hard thing to handle just two at a time but chasing them on top of each other like that was going to take a lot more practice. He could tell there were several incidents in that sequence that he kind of fudged a bit and that was not good enough for a real fight. It took to long, it was too choppy. Why did the tornado split. Ugh, still so much work. He knew immediately what room they needed to visit next. So….he said, his voice rasping what did you think?
Stone Creation: The user is able to form medium sized constructs, objects no bigger then five feet in height or width, out of earthen materials that are present. Ie: stone, dirt, rock, etc. This moves the aforementioned material and reshapes it into the given construct. These constructs do not move on their own but can be moved magically by the Elementalist.
Dust in the Wind: An Elementalist’s deep connection to the earth allows them to touch earthen objects made out of stone, dirt, rock, etc. and turn a medium size amount of that object into minute particles of that type of material effectively breaking it down into its base form. I.e you can turn constructs made with Stone Creation back into their base materials as long as you are touching it or any other medium sized earthen objects.
Fame Breath
Lightning
Conflagration: Your spells that deal Fire damage now ignite the enemy, giving them a stack of Conflagration. They will remain ablaze for the next two posts, keeping the stack of conflagration until the end of its duration or until its triggered. If they are dealt fire damage again from any source while affected by this ability the fire will deal double damage, igniting the stack and burning even hotter than normal.
Portals of the Seven Seas: Through the Elementalist’s expertise and strong connection to the Sea Domain, they are capable of generating a portal to the Primordial Plane, specifically the aspect devoted to the ocean. The portal opens above and in front of the user, causing a deluge of seawater to fall into this planar reality forming into a medium size sphere. This can be used twice per topic.
Wave Rider: The Elementalist is in full control of the water in their environment to the point where they are incapable of being knocked down by any form of it, be it environmentally produced or via spell usage. They can stand in the middle of the most smooth pond or at the apex of a raging tsunami.
Tidal Flow: Another aspect of their control is the ability to shift the flow of water produced by an ability or a spell. Upon the usage of the ability or spell they can imbue a directional command which activates at their will. The user can imbue this command up to 3 times per topic.
Crystallization: Focusing your magic on a visible liquid, the Elementalist is capable of turning that liquid into ice after two posts of concentration. This freezing effect covers a total of a medium size object/creature/person at a time.
Windtalker: Your elemental attachment to the realm of air is all encompassing and gifts you with the ability to harness and guide airflow around you up to ten feet in all directions. This culminates in the ability to push and pull objects within ten feet of you that weigh 1 point or less, as well as letting you levitate a foot off the ground
Howling Gale: Your mastery has become so pervasive that you are like a maelstrom, able to create a tornado like effect that encircles you beginning at ten feet from your body and going out another five feet from there. The harsh winds buffet and slice at any you deem an enemy while being completely harmless to yourself and allies. You can see through the effect but others cannot, and it automatically blocks any sky domain or ranged weapon attacks that are used against you, while speeding up those same spells and attacks that you and your allies use.
Bolt Dancer: Whenever you use the Lighting Bolt spell you can instead of damaging with it, move with the bolt itself materializing where it ends. This has a one post cooldown between uses but can be used any amount of times in a thread.

While she was prancing about and having a good time, Nami heard Shaa's voice carry on the wind. Over the storm raging outside, she turned to see what in the world was going on. She backed away as the Minotaur began his display of magical prowess. She watched, awestruck, as he went through a series of elemental displays, compiling each one into the next. Standing in the storm, watching Shaa create his own vortex of magical forces, the young centaur smiled and clapped as he fired himself higher into the sky.
Nami recognized the ability to ride a lightning bolt, it was one she was quite fond of using herself. Down on the ground, she moved away from the ensuing tornado of ice, flame and stone. It was a spectacular and powerful display, one that inspired the young centaur to continue her own magical pursuits. As Shaa finished, landing not far from where he started, the centaur walked over laughing and smiling.
"That was amazin' Shaa, your magic is impressive. Perhaps some day I will be able to reach the same level of understandin' and breadth of knowledge of elemental magics. Incredible all the way around!" She said enthusiastically. Shaking water from her hair and body, she hopped up into the air and shouted to the clouds. Her voice was like that of a songbird, singing her joy to the natural forces.

You’re too kind….to kind. Shaa says panting, still wanting to throw up a bit from the effort. Never let ‘em see you sweat. Shaa felt a patch of fur on his arm that had gotten a little crispy from the fire tornado. Yup, he was going to definitely have to practice that one. Not for anything in particular really but just because…well it was cool. In a moment of self reflection, Shaa considered that thoughts like this were the main reason he wasn’t some evil warlord somewhere. With his abilities, he could be a terrifying monster if he was even ambitious enough for that kind of thing. But that just wasn’t him. He didn’t like hurting people, he was just spectacularly good at it.
The truth was that he had worked so hard to try and find Athena the missing Fighters Guild captain, that he had incidentally become one of the most dangerous fighters in Charon. He would never admit this, but it scared him a bit. Not the violence or power per se, that was fun. But the scariest thing about all of it was that there was a real chance that he could lose himself all over again. It all went back to that day he was set free from the nomad tribe. He wasn’t frightened then. He was free. It was like waking up from a dream realizing that you were real the whole time. He was afraid…afraid he would fall asleep again and never wake up. He gained power…to stay alive. Like he was trained to. Like he always had. Shaa watched as the carefree centaur skipped through the sky and smiled as much as his tired face allowed. Yup, he would fight for people like this too. If for no other reason then it made him happy.
Shaa opened his snout and let the rain fall in until a small puddle formed in his cheeks. Spitting small fountains to keep himself occupied was amusing but very temporary. Hey kiddo, as super fun as this is, how much longer do you want to stay out here? Tell you what. The labyrinth is pretty big but let’s say we cut the tour short. There are 2 rooms left I definitely want to show you. Rooms that, believe it or not, you will not find anywhere else in the entire world. After that, you can go dance around the clouds as much as you want. What do you say?

"Sure Shaa, let's head inside. That was a great deal of fun, and quite the display of magic." Nami replied, walking back towards the entrance. She pondered the display of power, as well as her own observation of the storm. How could she improve her own magic? Perhaps there was some secret to be gleaned in the way the winds drove the rain, the clouds. Unsure, she chuckled softly to herself and followed the Minotaur back into his home to see what else he wished to show her.

As the entered the tunnels, Shaa grabbed the towels they brought up from storage and tossed one to Nami. Here’s a towel for you but don’t use it yet. You are going to want to wait for our next room. You just have to promise to keep this one to yourself. If it gets out…I’m gonna need a bigger boulder for the door. Torch in one hand, the pay went down a long tunnel in a part of the Labyrinth that they had not been to yet. This section was much louder with the sound of large rushing water and with much more moisture in the air. Welcome Nami, to the bathroom.
To call the room a bathroom is an understatement by any definition of the word. Shaa had built the room right next to an underground waterfall that itself was next to a thermal vent creating 4 very important sections. The first section was full of giant stone cabinets with curtains for privacy. Inside the cabinets where large seats with holes in them that lead to an underground river that flowed to the sea. The seat holes were there for…obvious reasons. Ie indoor plumbing.
The second section connected to the waterfall and acted as a natural shower. The water from there then fed to the underground river ( upstream). The third section was filled with hollowed out stalagmites that fed to the thermal vent creating a natural sauna for those inclined. But Shaa was headed for the fourth section. A cross section of the river and the vent and some dirt he had personally scavenged from a secret mineral quarry that he would take to his grave. The fourth section was a thermal mineral mud pit, the only one in the world. Come over here sky dancer, and find your inner geomancer.
Shaa walked over to the mud pit and waded deeper and deeper until it came up to his shoulders. He had cut out some shelves in the pit that allowed him to sit down and allow the natural minerals to seem into his aches and pains. He closed his eyes and could feel the healing start to take hold. Don’t worry, there are showers over there. You have got to try this. Shaa watched a small cave bug do the backstroke in a small puddle near by.

She held the towel at arms length as she followed Shaa to another room inside the labyrinth. Nami took in the sight of the complex series of chambers, having no clue what in the world they were for. She tried to puzzle out the various chambers, having some minor idea what they might be for. The first was a dressing room, with private stalls for handling private business. The second was some sort of steaming room, something she'd heard Gladiators and other physically demanding warriors enjoyed for it's soothing. The third was a natural shower of intricate design that utilized the natural flow of the falls. The last was the most surprising, a gargantuan, bubbling pit of mud.
She watched, wide eyed, as Shaa sank into the bubbling pool, reminding her of the way a burrowing creature might sink itself into the soil to await prey. It took her a moment to realize the man wanted her to join him in the pool. Nodding, but not quite sure if this would be enjoyable, Nami left her clothing and gear in the changing room. Covering her chest, she waded into the warm pool until she was covered to her shoulders. She'd never bathed with others, though at times she would see travelers at a distance while she washed in the rivers at night.
"This... is very strange... is this one of those 'bath' things I hear the fancy dressed merchants talk about? It's amazing, at least in design... though I'm not sure it would appeal to me regularly." She commented, trying to hide the flush in her cheeks. While there were days the young centaur would run wild through the hills wearing next to nothing, doing so in front of someone she'd met only a short while ago was an entirely different prospect. She did her best to keep calm and not let her face go flush as a cherry at the experience.

Shaa was feeling more and more relaxed as the healing minerals took hold. I’m sorry. I must have some mud in my ears. Did you just refer to this as a “bath”? Ummmm nooo. This yougin, is a mineral infused healing mud pit. 10 minutes in here will pull years out of your bones, make your skin taught, your hair shiny. I had someone bring in an egg here once, came out as a super model. She is Denise the dancing chicken, very famous in Zeniev. Got her start here. True story. Shaa playfully flicks some mud at the nervous Centaur. Bath my hairy tookus. You just gotta relax….why are you not relaxed?
Shaa was getting the distinct impression that something awkward was happening but he couldn’t imagine what it could be. It was a common problem for him actually because there are several normal activities that, once you add a Minotaur, get very awkward. Birth of your baby? Awkward. Walking your dog? Awkward. Brushing your teeth? Agghhh Minotaur! Awkward. The truth was, very few situations were ever like “ man, you know what this needs? A giant Minotaur.” As the awkward situations happened almost constantly, Shaa usually just ignored it. But if he could tell something was up, it must be really awkward.
Ahhh I get it. You are overwhelmed by the sheer awesomeness of the pit. Don’t be, just enjoy it. Did he smell? He was just in a rainstorm, no way. Do flaming tornados smell? It was the burned fur. Ginma’s beard! Ummm I’m going to take a quick shower, you just stay here a minute. Shaa slogs out to the side of the mud pit and heads over to the waterfall to rinse off. Once he’s sniffed himself, he feels satisfied he’s clear. He grabs his towel, dries off and heads to the door. Ok when your ready, you saw how it works. I’ll be getting the next room ready. Just hang a right until you come to the red door. See you in a minute. Man, I really got to practice that fire tornado.
