Speak easy of Secret Society, for you never know what their true intentions are. The one Gwendolyn had been assigned to follow had been up to some interesting things to be sure, but nothing terrible has come of it yet. The Golden Consortium had asked her to meet up with another member here in the heart of Sol City to try and get to the bottom of it. Her only hope was that this mystery member was relatively normal, seeing as the last two she had met were Fish and Astrid, Two of the most chaotic beings on the planet. Gwendolyn inhaled a Seeing Salt, the familiar sting no longer burning her nostrils each time as the world around her came into hyperfocus.(Eagle Eye Potion) She could see the warehouse down the street, apparently abandoned except for a padlock on one of the doors with some fresh scratches around the keyhole. It was insane just how much she could see compared to her life without the potion, almost like viewing another world through a telescope. There were her maids, each taking a long path around the target to scout it out. No signal had been given yet, so either they were really good at hiding or the place was actually abandoned. She sighed longingly, and turned her back to rest against the corner she hid against once more. It was almost sundown, where was this person? NPCS: Millicent, Mori, Wilhemina Quest Name: Chug Chug (Golden Consortium) Participants: Two or more (Only guild members get the reward) Location: Sol City Post Requirements: 6 post per person, 200 words per post Reward: +1 Renown Description: We have a problem. Turns out all those illegal potions being crafted had a purpose. Someone is using these concoctions as physical enhancers. We are not really sure what for, but we received a tip describing how someone will climb into a strange suit with a helmet, and then drink this concoction, making them go crazy. We need to learn more, and luckily the guild has identified a warehouse in the slums that is supposed to have a shipment of these potions. We need you to go in, and record as much information as you can, even getting your hands on one of the potions if possible. Please be careful, for we don't know what they are doing or how dangerous it is.

The Golden Consortium had refrained, up until now, from asking for her aid. Behind the polite smiles and deep bows she could feel an uneasiness, something that kept her on edge, even if she didn’t know what it was. The Witch had learned to never ignore that feeling, of secrets looming around. Maybe that's why the Golden Consortium was interested in some healthy distance between the institution and the Black Quills, who were known for answering only to their Mother Raven.
But something had urged them to reach out, strangely. She had been hoping for an oportunity to do something related to the Consortium, and that was her chance.
The Black Quills had already been at it all morning, getting a precise and thorough layout of the surroundings, watching their comings and goings and reporting everything. She was supposed to work with someone else, but she also wanted to do her homework.
The two ravens flew above the warehouse unsuspecting, just two more birds in a big city like that were nothing. The ones on the ground waited, placed strategically. There was someone hiding on the meeting spot for sometime now, but only after surveying all of the area she deemed a good idea to approach.
Few people actually took a fright on her transformation, so she hoped this was not one of those times. As the two ravens flew by the woman hiding and landed on the shadows of the alley, imediately as the shadows embraced them, a storm of black feathers twisted and, not without some dramatic flair, one of the birds took the shape of a woman. She was still covered in black feathers, but as she pulled her hood down, it was clear it was just her cloak. It was a half elf, with sparkly dark blue eyes, black hair and just the shadow of a mischievous smile that should be enough to make her unmistakable.
"I hope I didn’t keep you waiting much... Good afternoon, Gwendolyn."

Her grey eyes opened wide as two black birds buzzed by her from around the corner. It had certainly gotten her attention. They both flew into the shadows of the descending sun, only for an impressive transformation to occur before her very eyes. The salts she had taken made the whole process quite the spectacle as the woman emerged in a flurry of black feathers. Gwendolyn tried to keep a serious look on her face, but a small amount of excitement betrayed just how thrilled she was to be working with THE Witch. “That must make you Kamille, A pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Avasha be praised, she couldn’t believe that the Consortium had sent Kamille to work with her on a mission. Gwendolyn had read stories in the Lore Gazette about the womans adventures, almost a legend. “You hadn’t kept me at all. My uh…maids have been scouting the place since I’ve gotten here. It seems no one’s been in or out of the warehouse at least since then.” She states, trying to appear professional. Her silvery hair was bunched up in a ponytail, as her veil and hip censer gave off the sweet smell of lavender oil. “I’ve tried to keep my distance in the meantime. Not exactly the most subtle woman as you could probably tell ma’am.”

The Witch looked pleased that Gwen was also doing her due diligence - it should be a simple matter for them, really. She didn't know much about Gwen, aside what the Golden Consortium has told her, but Kamille had a good impression. Also, Gwen smelled good.
This would be easy. Wait, did she say maids?
"I'm not much of a discrete person myself, but I can turn into a couple of things, and that should help somewhat. Still, for what I could notice, the warehouse seems to have some sort of magical barriers... I'm not sure what's that about, but it doesn't look like an anti-magic field. Maybe something that dispells magical disguises? My associates are into it, trying to find a way in..."
And just in cue, Kamille seemed to shift and look around, as another person made themselves known in the small alley, the air shimmering around them before their image would be visible. The black feather pin on his chest gave him off as a Black Quill, but other than that it was hard to distinguish many telling features. A half elf, tall and somewhat bulky, that quickly went to address Kamille.
"We found a way. It seems like they can get in and out through the basement of a nearby house. It must be their way of getting in and out in emergencies."

Secret tunnels, magic barriers, the freaking Black Quills, this was way too cool to be happening to her. It was like she was in one of the drama books written by Jackie Northrup. Get it together woman she thought as she gave a brief nod to the Quill and began to follow. The house was squat, nondescript, and almost exceedingly unimpressive. The windows all had shades drawn, and the lock on the door was heavier than to be expected. “Here, I’ll get us in” She paged through the ring that Wolfe had given her, until the one she wanted brought itself forth. A small ball of electric blue ooze manifested in her hand, which she promptly shoved into the lock before wiping the residual off on the doorframe. An awkward smile towards the Witch and the Quill ensued for a moment before a hearty click was heard. “There” she said, drawing her attention to the slowly opening door. A soft creak echoed throughout the house as they entered. A quick look around showed that there wasn’t even really any furniture, rather just boxes of random supplies. Well, if anything, it certainly was an extension of the warehouse.

The Witch watched Gwen with intent as she worked through the lock of the warehouse. That was certainly a curious way of breaking in - as for herself, her approach often ranged from 1 to 100 on a scale of stealth. She would either enter as a small, unsuspecting critter.... or by having a giant lava golem without manners banging through the front door. Whichever the situation called for.
The other two Black Quills were waiting near the warehouse: Allan, a lean and tall man and Poe, a small woman. Only Edgar and Poe entered with them, while Allan remained watching on the outside.
"That was impressive. Never seen that before."
That Gwendolyn looked like a valuable ally. How come she's never heard of her before? Kamille would want to know more about the woman after they were done with that quest.
The warehouse was, undoubtly, unremarkably plain. Kamille raised her hand and with a snap of her finger, a warm light spreaded through the open space of the building, as her hand became enveloped by orange flames that licked at her skin without burning. There were several boxes and crates here and there, casting fleeting, dancing shadows, and a thin layer of dust everywhere, except...
"Here. You see where they've been walking? Ah, here."
As soon as they entered, Kamille seemed to pay more attention to the ground than anything else, trying to perceive if there was some indications of recent comings and goings. And for that she was rewarded, as she saw a place where it looked like some crates were moved recently. With Edgar's help, they were able to move the crates and reveal the entrance of the tunnels.
"It can't be this easy, can it?"
Indeed, barely the words left her lips, from inside the dark tunnels they could hear a heavy snore of sorts. While not exactly seeing anything beyond the shadowy corridor, the consistent breathing imediatelly made the image of a large, toothy beast lurking in the shadows invade her mind.
Well. That felt a little bit bigger than your average guard dog........

The snoring made her pause in place, the soft clank of metal armour echoing as well through the hallway. Reaching into the smoke coming off of her censer, she withdrew her weapon from the ether. While she DID need it in case combat broke out, what she really wanted was what lay hidden inside the grand censer of the maul head. Opening a secret compartment on the weapon, several potions lay strapped inside. Plucking one from it’s placeholder, she popped the cork and downed it quietly. (1) As if the sounds she made dissapeared from reality entirety, all notion of her moving about evaporated moments after swallowing. No creak from the armour, no jingle from the chains around her waist. Not even breath from her mouth was apparent to all that walked with her. She walked forward, following the source of the loud snoring down the tunnel. There was a stairway up ahead, presumably leading to the main warehouse they had been stalking. Unfortunately, as she advanced closer, her poor vision began to make out a sleeping guard with a large hunting dog napping next to himself. She looked back at Kamille and the Quills, giving two quick hand signals. Two fingers, and a hand on her cheek that looked like sleeping. With a questioning face, she offered the line across her neck, wondering whether or not to kill them. They stirred momentarily, the guard dogs nose retracting, as though the smell emanating from her was bothersome. 1 Potion of Shadows

Ohhh, she should be making that potion soon as well...
While Gwendolyn turned into a shadow, Kamille turned into... a little lizard [1]. It was easier to go by unnoticed as a small critter, and even if they saw her, they wouldn't suspect a little lizard to actually be a Witch.
The Black Quills had their own way of approaching without being noticed [2, 3], but either for them or Gwen, and even for Kamille, none of them would have the means of bypassing the dogs sense of smell. As they approached, the dog stirred from his slumber and started to sniff around, growling softly. For a moment the man straightened up, alert, squinting his eyes to his surroundings to try and figure out what he was detecting.
Then, he started to bark to a cute little lizard on the ground.
"Pffft.... Ya idiot... It's just a lizard, ya dummy... Wanna get it?"
The dog pulled against his leash, but it was when the man unclasped it that Kamille panicked. The giant dog went after the small lizard happily, and for a hot minute an exciting chase took place. The small lizard often confused the giant dog, walking between his legs and biting on his tail, but it was all fueled by desperation as she tried to avoid his giant teeth. She finally reached the wall at some point and climbed up, trying to catch her breath.
From all ways of dying, this certainly would be an unusual one..., she thought to herself.
The dog was still jumping on the wall, trying to catch her, growling and barking softly. She guided him back down the corridor as he continued the chase - definitely a hunting dog, used to see the prey between his teeth before giving up. She couldn't communicate with Gwen just yet, as she couldn't cast spells in that form, so she would need to act quickly.
The dog let out a surprised yelp as the small lizard turned bigger, in a flurry of black wings. It was about to run back to its master, when Kamille turned back to her own self, and with a single, quick gesture took her feathery cloak out: for a moment the feathers took the shape of a large raven, with a black feathery beak and big and wide wings that aimed to embrace the guard dog. As it tried to escape, the feathery cloak wrapped itself aroud the mutt, silencing his desperate yelps [4].
"Oi... Who's there?"
Gwen then could hear Kamille's voice directly in her head.
Surrender the guard but him alive and conscious. We might need him.[5]

Alive and Conscious, she could do that. She downed another potion, this one a pale blue, and then made her move.(1) Silent footsteps dashed forwards to meet the guards questions to the darkness. Flinging a sticky blue orb at the guard, it missed, forming a large icy web on the wall behind him. He laughed, startled but amused by the misplay, looked back at the web. “Hah! You missed!” he said, a moment before he turned back to Gwendolyn. She drove the burning head of her Censer Maul into his stomach, causing the man to let out a big OOF before being drove into the web. He spent a few long moments before catching his breath, with Gwendolyn shoving a gloved hand over the mans mouth. Muffled coughs and cries could be heard behind the muffle, but the coast was clear for now. “No words, yes or no. Anyone else in the warehouse?” She hissed at him, as quietly as she could muster. A frantic shaking of the head side to side was all she needed before she took her hand away. “Good, now stay here, go back to your nap if you’d like. I’m sure your boss will come let you down sooner or later.”

There was a silent, muffled fight for a minute or two, as Edgar tried to subdue the dog wrapped in the feathery cloak. At one point, the dog went limp and the Black Quill carefully untangled him from the cloak - he was surprisingly respectful when he laid his body on the ground, unconscious but still breathing. He knew his Master to have a weak spot for the monstrous and fierce beasts, so he was right to want to do minimum damage.
As for the guard, Kamille looked pleased at how efficient Gwen showed herself to be, quickly executing her task, flawlessly. As cold as it may have sounded, killing guards was easy, but she would often avoid doing so if she could. Keeping them alive and under control was the hard thing to do.
Kamille handed a small flask to Edgar [1], and it looked like he already knew what to do. She didn’t trust the guard to behave, so a nap was much welcome now - whether the guard wanted it or not. While he tried to compell the man to drink the Sleep Poison, as gentle as donkey'a kick, Kamille moved forward, past the guard, shooting an approving glance to Gwendolyn.
"Excelent work, Ms. Gwendolyn! Now! Let's move on. If there's no one there it should be easy... Do you have some way of seeing in the dark, Ms. Gwendolyn?"
The tunnel led to a small hidden passageway, where they had to carefully move away floorboards to finally step out and into the warehouse. It was all dark and quiet, except for an occasional squeaking mouse. Several towers of mysterious boxes laid packed all around, most taller than their height. The smell of chemicals, dust and mold was pungent, but overall they couldn’t see much further for now. Kamille hesitated on creating some light yet, so to avoid drawing attention to whoever could be watching outside. The Black Quills followed in silence.

She hesitated at the question. She did have a way of seeing in the dark, but it was a bit unorthodox. Didn’t want the Witch of the moonglade thinking she was weird on their first meeting. Enlightened Redolence could be activated to make a giant torch… But that wasn’t exactly inconspicuous. Couldn’t be helped then… “Yeah, just a second” pausing in the midst of the corridor to peruse her satchel. After a moment, she withdrew a clunky black helmet with glowing red eyes (1). Putting it on, the darkness within the corridor quickly evaporated for the woman, everything with a dim red hue. She spoke with spooky timber that the helmet created, “Theeerree. Letttsss mooovee oooonnn”
The scent of chemicals was overwhelming, the perfume on her veil combined with the physical barrier of the helmet did little to prevent her nose from crinkling at the smell. Mercurial, brimstone, like an alchemists lab and yet no visible equipment but boxes. Whipping her maul at the nearest one, the side cracked open to reveal a densely packed hay lining. Two bottles rolled across the floor with a clatter, stopping at Gwen and one of the Quills feet. She picked it up, swirling it to inspect. This was the source of the smell to be sure, it’s pungent odor all the more evident once the box cracked open. It was thick, silvery, and physically heavier than would be expected. Odd. She lifted the snarling mouth of her helm to speak. “Interesting. I consider myself rather adept with alchemical concoctions, and yet this one is altogether unfamiliar to me. Recognize it?”1 Dread Helm

Kamille watched intently as Gwen put on her device to see in the dark. As weird as it might've looked, Kamille looked pleased by the other woman’s resourcefulness. Despite both of them lacking on certain aspects, specially stealth, they were handling the situation pretty efficiently. Gwen looked like a powerful ally. Kamille's next comment might feel out of place, but she didn’t care.
"How about after all is done and said we go grab a few drinks at the Brass Dragon? I would like to know more about you Ms. Gwendolyn."
As always, her interest in other people’s story was genuine, but it would have to wait. Kamille whispered a few words of power, and suddenly her eyes were taken by pure blackness, spreading beyond her irises and covering the white [1]. The world became black and white, but her vision now was able to pierce through all and any kind of darkness, lighting up the warehouse around her. The Black Quills had no way of magically see through dark, but they were a bit more used to working in the dark.
Every inch of the warehouse was drenched in the smell of chemicals, which made it hard to dicern most of them. Kamille was used to strong smells, and prided herself on a strong stomach, but it was still a saturated, pungent smell that made her nostrils burn.
"I can’t identify anything precisely right now... But take as many samples as you can, we'll probably have a lot of work to do later..."
With every fiber of stealth she could muster - which wasn’t much - she walked around the warehouse, collecting a few flasks and giving them to Poe to put away. Things got really interesting when she found a small stack of papers on top of a crate. Her delight was shortlived, as she soon heard in her head Allan's voice [2], the archer who stood guard on the outside of the warehouse.
Boss! There's someone comming!
Kamille turned to Gwen in a hushed tone.
"Gwen! There is someone coming! Grab everything you can and let's get out of here!"

“Shit!” She whispered back, stuffing the last of the loot back in her satchel. “I’ll meet at that bar, good luck!” Thumbing the ring that Wolfe had given her and activating one of his suspiciously oozy abilities. (1) A box before her was used to propel herself upwards and away from the Witch and her assassins, up towards the roof of the warehouse. A surprisingly lithe front flip and somersault got her to the rafters, where she dashed along the supports towards freedom. Below, two guards shone their bullseye lanterns throughout the apparently empty structure, calling out for their colleague. It would only be minutes until the unconscious man would be discovered, and his silly dog as well. Alarms would be raised, but she planned to be long gone before that happened. The window she escaped from quietly creaked open as Gwen slid out into the dusky evening light. Catching a glimpse of her maids hiding around the corner, she dropped to link up with them and exit the area.

Unlike what she could possibly think, Kamille was glad she didn't have to worry about how the other woman would escape that situation. As for herself and the Black Quills, Gwen had already seen they were plenty capable of managing their own escape route.
The Witch watched, with her eyes covered by the unnatural darkness, as Gwen used some very interesting ability she hadn't seen before to escape. She would surely want to question the other woman a bit more about herself when they meet at the bar... Assuming they wouldn't be black out drunk.
The Black Quills got their samples and simply... vanished [1,2], leaving no trace or noises behind. That's what they were good at, she didn't have to worry about them. One way or the other, whether from the tunnel, from the window or the door, both of them would be out before she could even give the order.
When the guards arrived, their lanterns only shed light over dusty crates and boxes that were left just the way they remembered, though at one point one of them got startled by a giant moth [3] that flew right to his face, before swiftly and lazily exiting the door they left open behind them.
