It was no secret that Zeinav City was busy at the best of times, but this was almost ridiculous. There were thousands of people bustling through the streets, yelling about wares and deals whilst children weaved through the crowds playing and pickpocketing. Gwendolyns only saving grace was the fact that the scene was on a side alley just off the main walkways. The Mage’s Guild had sent her here to investigate why several sigils had been included in a recent graffiti spree possibly linked to the Scorched Ones Cult. The scene she stood before didn’t exactly scream “Easy Magic” however, as it was more like someone took a paintbrush and attacked a wall with blood. She supposed that was also why local authorities had hired another investigator to follow up on their behalf. However, parsing through the crowd of civilians it was impossible to tell who was coming to help her, and who was just making eye contact to distract her from something else. Her lips pursed through her perfumed veil, as she tapped on the steel that lined the collar of her breastplate. There definitely was something of substance here… Something only a society that speaks with the mystic arts could unveil…she just had to find it. Quest Name: Painting on the wall Participants: Two or more Location: Zeinav City Post Requirements: 4 post per person, 200 words per post Reward: +1 Renown Description: A series of vandalisms have taken place across the city, notably targeting important businesses and politicians homes. Different foreboding messages have been written in blood across the fronts of these buildings, as well as many of their windows and doors having been smashed in. We believe the Scorched Ones are responsible, but as of yet have no proof to implicate them, and have yet to identify the source of the blood used in the attacks. Venture to one of these locations, investigate the scene and find any clues to who may be behind this. (Clues can lead to the Scorched Ones as they are responsible)

People watching, my favorite past time. The investigator for this group seemed to know something already, more than the details previously given. She was quick an interesting figure, medium height, possibly not the size wanted if heels are any indication. Her searching has given away her position, that come with its own pros and cons.
Pros include me finding her before anyone else. This means I can make contact with her at optimal time without questioning who she was. The downside is that we couldn't act like old friends meeting up, after all, her noble nature shines through her body language. Aloof attitudes or pure naivety cause a person's true nature to shine as clear as a living flower in a bed of death.
Speaking of sand, the travel here was atrocious. Being so used to the colder climates, dry and windy was an odd feeling. Nothing I haven't experienced before, but still very odd. Watching her get increasingly worried but focused on contemplation, I walk forward and point to a hard to notice segment on the blood drawing close to the ground. "I doubt anyone drawing with blood wants to make a portrait of themselves. Yet, why would they leave such obvious trails in their wake?"
I turn to face her with my whole body, "Parden my late introduction. Please call me Keyke, I may be small...", I gesture to the spot," but I use it to my advantage." I give a smile that looks innocent to most, calculative to the only the most observant.

Oh, that was a surprise. Gwendolyn turns and offers a curt bow to her new accomplice, a hand across her stomach for mutual respect amongst nobles. Fake smiles were part and parcel for the status that the two of them occupied, and Gwen could only hope that there was nothing malicious behind it. “Pleasure, I am Gwendolyn, and worry not about your stature. As long as you can do the job, it doesn’t matter.” She says, turning back to the job at hand. “As for your first question, maybe they want it to be seen.”
She steps a hint closer to the crimson mural, her eyesight still fuzzy in the daylight, and dons a cotton glove to inspect further. The intricate curves and intentional lines marked that someone hadn’t happened upon this randomly, at least. There was something else however... A series of excessively intricate curves and angles in the piece as a whole. It was similar to Light incantations, but wider in scope. “Look here. A symbol for Solaria, layered under a symbol for Ziev. Some sort of religious gang signs? Would fit with the scorched one’s Modus Operandi. What doesn’t fit are these sigils surrounding it. Unholy, meaningless in the context of the Light Domain. Any clues?”

Her pointing out the holy and unholy symbols, not to mention labeling them on instinct, leaves me to know she is very well educated about religion. "The fact that Ziev and Solaria are even layered is worrying, two of the most conflicting gods placed together is never a good sign. You are right, those symbols could mean unholy, or..." I trail off as I trace in the air how the lines seem to intersect with one another. "Perhaps this wasn't a holy symbol but a magic ruin?" I continue to trace the bloodlines, the lines looked as if they were following my design and not the other way around.
The people around us kept passing with only a single glance before they left us alone. The noble stature of Gwendolyn keeping out most of the curious gazes, my stature making the ones in the know quickly leave, while the unsuspecting ones only assumed us as a mother and child. Only Gwendolyn could see the slight shaping of things.
I stopped about midway through my observations. My hand stopped when it was at a small circle around the layered symbols. The rest of the blood I had traced around made a semi-circle that went straight down next to my smaller circle. I pointed to the other side of the wall, where the other crack of magic was. "Try doing what I did, I think this is a puzzle, not a simple painting."

A puzzle huh? Interesting, she ignited her spirit lamp to illuminate the sigil more than the ambient alley light allowed. The dim blue glow changed the dark crimson to more of a grey, but the contrast against the back of the wall helped separate the actual painting from mud and dust left behind from day to day life. Tracing the same lines as Keyke definitely brought some of the magic to the surface. It was a rigid flow, not something she was used to in the chapels back home where magic from artifacts flowed like water. This was more like trying to move around sap with a napkin. Everything she did mostly just smudged the magic around the circles and curves. Her head began to ache as the feedback became nauseating. There was something about the sigil that not only affected her ability to manipulate it, but also something that gave her the slightest brain fog preventing her from thinking clearly. “Remove Condition” She said under her breath, before exhaling. Her mind cleared almost instantly, and she quickly traced the sigil in its intended directions. Very interesting, whoever had placed this wanted it to be seen, but not cracked. They had the foresight to place an enfeebling spell to ward off any would-be investigators, luckily the two of them were harder to crack than any off-the-street Dick Tracy. The lines of the sigil glowed dimly, and she extinguished her lamp back onto her belt. “It looks like….A doorway?” This spell allows you to touch yourself or an alley, completely removing all negative effects applied to them. This includes mental and physical effects the would negatively influence or harm the target. This will remove any negative spell that has a duration and can also cure effects from poisons or toxins. This spell can only be used twice per topic.

The fact that the blood not only made a doorway, but also that Gwen had to cast 'Remove Condition' rather than simply tracing it makes this puzzle all the more intriguing. Something affected her while nothing touched or even attempted to harm me. I decide to point that out, "Why did you need to rid yourself of conditions? It was a mere tracing of the wall. Unless..." I stare at her analyzing her more, "I met a requirement that you didn't, but you forced your way through." I think of how we could be same but different, skills also to be considered.
I started tapping my cheek while I became lost in thought. I was tracing back and forth how we could be the same and different. Physically, we are vastly different, genes not even close to crossing into one another's families, well for the most part. A flash back of my 8 other siblings flash through my head. I shake my head, focusing once more. Differences pointed too many things like how "Height could be one thing, age another, and skill wise is very questionable. Perhaps it deals with the symbols she first pointed out?" I raise my Head to her, not realizing I said the last part out loud. "You said the god of light and god of space domains were a part of this, yes?"

“A trap, feels like they anticipated an investigation. You didn’t feel it? Perhaps it was my knowledge of Light Domain that tripped it?”
Nothing had affected the child? Odd, it was as though her head were dropped in a bottle of soup. Also, was she hearing her thoughts? The kid was interesting, and not in an annoying way like Astrid could be. A moment of introspection and she came back to reality, a question posed. “Oh, yes. Solaria and Ziev, some might call them two sides of the same coin. Some people believe that Solaria and Lunala are opposed, but in reality their harmony is completely balanced. Ziev’s domain on the other hand, encroaches on both like a blanket, encompassing the totality of the sky… Maybe it needs to be covered before it’s traced? Like a sheet, obscuring yet protecting. That kind of tracks with Scorched one Philosophy.”
Looking around, she grabbed a sheet that lay discarded behind one of the stalls nearby. With a moment of pondering, she held it up to the wall. “Here, try tracing the sigil on top of the sheet. It’ll act like a sort of medium, might do something”
A moment of Keyke tracing and blue sparks began to fall from the sheet. A lingering doorway spell… who knew what was on the other side.
