The whiplashing sand kept away by the thin, embroidered veil, her sparkling, starry eyes darted around to browse the immense amount of goods on the chaotic street. Some part of her hated to admit, but she loved such chaos, such energy, the careless people bumping into her on their way up and down the street. The noise, the smell of spices and fresh fish and the colorful silks at display. The sun was unforgiving for most, and while her pale complexion was more or less protected, the heat didn't bother her. On the contrary, it seemed to give the Pyromancer more energy.
By now, the streets of Zeinav were familiar to her - as the desert has more or less become a second home for the Witch. And she had to admit she loved the people's charm, at first so foreign, with loud manners and inflammed speech. But she warmed up to them, eventually, and she could almost say they have warmed up to her too...
Zeinav City even warranted a change of looks for her, temporarily leaving aside her characteristic feathery cloak for the finer silks and transparencies that were easily found on the best, most expensive boutiques. A walking target for prying hands if not for two factors: first and foremost, the man that followed her at the distance, much more aware of the surroundings and accounting for everyone's hands around his Master. Edgar was an intimidating sight, quick to reach out whenever things didn't look pretty. And, of course, Kamille had grown a reputation by now, being enough of a regular sight for people to know not to mess with the Witch - which made it kind of easy for her to
"Lady Kamille!"
The half-elf stopped on her track, turning around to the source of the calling. A small man, with half-moon spectacles, pressed forward through the street between vendors with much more difficulty than her. The result was that when the man was before her, a strong hand pulled him back by the scruff, and the man let out a stranged squeal.
"It's okay, Edgar. Let him speak."
The man looked quite startled and a bit too uptight to be in that part of town, his scaredy eyes jumping from the tall man that seemed to have appeared from nowhere to the lady before him. Not that she could judge, for she herself knew to be looking like a noble woman.
"Uhh.... Ahem... Lady Kamille, am I right? I come in the name of my Lord Tharphaz. He has heard of your deeds and abilities, and wishes to speak to you in a matter of utmost urgency. Would you accompany me?"
What am I now? A dog to come when summoned? But it didn't come to her as a surprise. That's how nobles saw the rest of the world, in her experience.
"What is it that your Master wants to treat with me?"
The man shot one more fearful glance to Edgar, now a gloomy shadow towering over him, before taking half a step closer to the lady to speak in a hushed tone.
"It's about the vandalisms, my Lady. One of my Master's business was targeted last night, an important inn I'm sure my Lady knows. He instructs me to take you there and explain the details. Would you come with me, my Lady?"
Vandalisms? She heard of those, but they were getting more frequent now... Maybe it was worth it taking a closer look...
"Ahhhhhh! A mystery!" a voice to the side of her hip sounded, as the spellbook locked in place started to move on its own. Zhantal was a recent adition, and sometimes spent so much time quiet and observing that she took a fright when he finally spoke up. "Please, my Lady! Let us go investigate this curious vandalisms! I'm sure this will be an exciting story to tell!"
She wondered Zhantal spent too much time alone, craving for new stories and adventures while locked in an old alchemist's tomb. The fresh air and exciting tales of the new age left him bubbling up.
"Lead the way."

Javal had shown up to Zeinav a couple of days ago, after leaving his grandfathers compound not really learning much except that his grandpa was a strange fellow and that a band of baddies called the scorched ones have been causing problems here. He and Nadia rushed over to Zeinav as fast as possible to crush the wicked evildoers. Once they had arrived to the City Javal got distracted and begin having a blast dancing on the street talking to everybody he could. It took Nadia almost screaming Javals name for him to snap out of the fun. She was right, they were here on business. They made their way investigating a vandaized storefront trying to make sense of what was afoot. Javal had no clear leads and Nadia went to ask people around what they knew. After a bit Javal couldn’t come up with anything and decided the best course of action would be to fix the graffiti. He grabbed a nearby bucket off of vendor and payed him with solars and then with pointed at the bucket water came out from hands and filled with bucket. He then looked for a washcloth around him and found one unattended to on the floor it had weird stuff on it but Javal paid it no mind, after all it was a pretty snazzy washcloth. He started washing the graffiti almost finishing a building when he heard Nadia approaching. He turned around and before him he saw a small bespactled man. “Hello there Sir Javal, I come in the name of Lord Tharaphaz to seek your aid in stopping this attack on zeinav buisnees his is only another one affected by this paint attack on Zeinav” the fellow chirped. Javal smiled excited to hear someone needed his help “Why of course sir it would be my pleasure” the small man acompanied to the sight of the vandalism it was a big bright lighted brown inn that was covered all over by ominous red writings all over, doors and windows were broken. It was vandalized all right Javal knew that much. As the small fellow left saying something about “bringing some more help” Javal started to try interpret some of the writings the biggest one in front of the building just said “YOU WILL ALL FEEL THE WRATH OF THE SUN”. As he and Nadia were trying to figure out what that could mean he heard footsteps approaching behind him.

Whatever it was that she was expecting, it certainly wasn’t that. Kamille was usually good at working in a team, so to know there was already someone else on it actually got her excited. The half-elf was dressed in zeinavian silks and jewels, a change from her usual heavier feathery cloak - a change that made her look like a noble woman. Edgar followed her at a distance, and she knew Poe to be somewhere around, invisible.
Upon arrival, she shot a curious glance to the fellblood and his companion, turning to their guide as he spoke up to both of them.
"My Master asks - urges! - that you may help finding out who's responsible for this. While my Master is not the only one affected, we're not sure who's doing this...."
He kept his suspicions to himself, even if everyone else was thinking the same. For a moment, Kamille walked past the little man and approached the fellblood, extending a delicate, well manicured hand for a friendly handshake.
"Looks like we're gonna be partners in this. My name is Kamille. And who are you?"
Kamille was one of those people who smiled with her eyes - and her eyes had a curious pull, deep blue with nebulas sparkling and swirling inside. Her mastery over the arcane granted her a unique gaze, but it was not all just magic: she was a warm person, welcoming, open. There was genuine curiosity and joy when she flashed that charming smile to her partner, hand held out for a handshake.

Javal had gotten up from cleaning up and put that weird rag into his pocket and saw his new partner she seemed so elegant and mysterious he hoped she would be nice and his friend. Nadia also got up trying to observe the new people and Bootsamon was at the store getting some horse food for Asleipmir. Javal was a bit disappointed they weren't here to meet this new mysterious partner. Javal responds to the panicking fellow “We will find out who did this good sir, you have my word and my life as the president of the Drakon Security Company”. Javal was caught off guard when his new partner went for a handshake usually it was him to do the handshakes when meeting people. He was glad to meet someone so nice, He shook her hand “Hello Kamille, my name is Javal Zarrias, I’m a fellblood from Thorock, former Dragon Prince of the Black Dragon Pirates, and current president of Drakon Security Company, would you like to be my friend”. Javal smiled as he said asked that, Nadia immediately bows her head to Kamille and says, “I’m completely apologize for my boss’s rude behavior he just really likes meeting new people and making friends”.

"My good sir!"
A voice sounded to her side, and the book locked to her belt by chains started to move on its own, more or less mimicking the move of one's mouth when speaking.
"My Mistress is a famed Mage of the Sixth Ring, Lady Kamille of Moonglade, Mother Raven of the Black Quills and-"
"There’s no need for that, Zhantal. I'm sorry, Mr. Zarrias, this is Zhantal, my......... Spellbook."
It was complicated. She offered Nadia a friendly smile and handshake as well.
"Then we have more in common than I thought! I also love to make new friends..."
Which made for fame of having eyes everywhere. What was it that he said? About being the leader of the Drakon Security Company? She would have to take a closer look at that....
"I'm certain we can clear this up in no time... Do you have any ideas about what happened here?"
Kamille turned to face the painted wall. The wrath of the sun? Was that supposed to mean something? That made her think of religious fanatics which.... was a sore spot for her.
"May I recommend, Mistress, that spell of that Mistress Serra?"
The Witch chuckled to herself. She would need to have a conversation with the spellbook about being discrete and hiding their game.

As Kamille asked Javal if he had any ideas or leads, he started to think of what he could come up with. As he started thinking he took out the wet rag he used to clean up the graffiti earlier and started wringing it out. He then used the rag to cool his tired forehead off to be able to focus more. As soon as Javal finished this, his right hand, Nadia suddenly pointed to the rag and said
“I recognize that symbol. Boss, I think that is the symbol of the scorched ones, wicked villains who are always up to no good. Where did you find that?”
Javal quickly places the wet rag in front of him and sees the sun symbol in the middle of the rag “Oh This, I found this on the floor next to one of the vandalized stores that we were cleaning up. I decided to keep it since it seemed like nobody was using it. I can’t believed those fiends, the scorched ones would ruin such a pure cleaning rag" Javal says upset and his hands on his head. He then says, “Those dastardly Scorched ones will pay for this. Now that we know whos behind it, how can we find those wicked fiends? Do you have any ideas Lady Kamille? Do you have any spells or abilities that can allow us to track them down?”

Fate favors the innocent, huh?
Kamille chuckled softly at the exchange between Javal and his associate, glancing at Edgar just in time to see his eyeroll. The Scorched ones were behind this, huh? That was hardly surprising, but still...
"No secret is ever safe from me. Let me try something, Mr. Javal."
The Witch stood a little bit closer to the wrecked stabilishment, holding her arms up to the sides and closing her eyes. Zhantal, the paper man, gestured for Javal to remain silent as Kamille prepared her spell. Javal didn't need to be atuned to any kind of magic to feel the dense flow of mana coming out from her, spreading in waves and swirling around, invisible, and yet making for the air around her thicker. Time spells were interesting, and ultimately messed with people's perception of time itself - specially powerful ones like Misstress Serra one. Kamille remained like that for some good minutes, both Edgar and Zhantal completely silent and waiting for their Mistress to come back to the present tense.
In her mind, with her eyes closed, she saw exactly that same alley, as if she had her eyes open. But it was not now, but before. The windows were still intact and she saw the ruffians approach, apparently out of nowhere. She saw them destroy the place quickly and effectively, and quickly paint their message before vanishing......
"Turning around that corner right there. Take a look around that barrel. It feels like they just buried themselves on the floor... Maybe there's a secret passageway?"

Javal was furious that the Scorched Ones were behind such a dastardly plot, he was sure he’d crush them and bring them to justice. He would avenge the rag’s honor and make sure no other good rags were used to spread evil.
“Sure go ahead, Lady Kamille”
Javal and his cohort fell silent as they were signaled by the paperman. Javal was suddenly amazed he felt a huge amount of magic pour out from Lady Kamille. She was truly strong and must be a formidable witch with great power. He wanted to shout about how cool Kamille’s spell was but he got a death stare from Nadia as he opened his mouth. He was smart enough to know to keep his mouth shut at least until Kamille finished. Javal sprinted around the corner after he heard the orders from Lady Kamille. He saw the barrel and stood over it. He tried to look for some sort of switch, lever, or something to activate a secret passageway. He moved to the spot where the barrel was before and raised the barrel to the sky to take a better look at it. It was when Javal did this that he felt his footstep on loose brick on the floor. Suddenly the whole alleyway started to shake and shift around. After it finished there was a hole opened up in the floor with a pair of stairs.
Javal shouted, “Lady Kamille you're a genius, you were totally right”.
He stood next to the stairs waiting for the rest of the group to catch up and begin the journey down the stairs.

Kamille looked quite satisfied with herself - it was rare that she had the opportunity to use that spell, and it gave her kind of a bittersweet taste, as it's been a long time since she didn't see Serrafleur, the one who made that spell.
It did take from her more than she thought it would, but maybe that was just because she wasn't used to it, and in time that would change. Zhantal approached to ask softly:
"Are you okay, Mistress?"
"I'm fine, Zhantal, thank you. Maybe we should take a look at where that tunnel leads. Can I keep that piece of cloth, Mr. Zarrias?"
Both Kamille and the paperman approached to take a look at the tunnel. It was too dark to see much ahead, and while she could use a spell to see in the dark, that wouldn't fix things for Zaval or his companion. She stopped for a moment and looked over to the fellblood.
Well, looked like they were together on this one, right?
"This could be dangerous, Mr. Zarrias... Are you sure you want to follow along?"
Although, as the words left her lips, she couldn't help but wonder that a sure way to make a man do something was to imply it was dangerous. She chuckled at the thought, raising a hand and squinting her eyes. The air around her hand seemed to flicker, as she bended reality and her hand became the flame itself, providing some light for their walk down the tunnels.

Javal had a wide smile on his face as he walked alongside the group in complete darkness at first.
Javal whispered as softly as he could however it still ended up being loud, “Yes, Of Course Lady Kamille where ever injustice occurs, I will be there to stop it no matter how dangerous it is. I will follow it until true justice has prevailed and the wicked have been crushed”
Nadia whispered, “That is the Drakon Security Company motto we swear to uphold in the name of our duty”.
The group continued to walk in the dark hall soon Lady Kamille had graciously lit their path. Javal was amazed at Lady Kamille’s magical power first the amazing spell she performed earlier and now this, she knew her stuff. It was a lot more than Javal could say only knowing a couple of weak water spells. His eyes perked up and he started to berate her with questions, “Lady Kamille how did you learn such powerful magic, can I learn such wonderful magic, what other magic do you have?”
Nadia quickly bowed her head and apologized to her master, while Javal continued walking eagerly awaiting Kamille’s responses.
After that Javal become impatient with the single hallway it seemed like it dragged on forever. To offset this problem Javal decided to scout ahead to prepare for anything that may be up ahead. He thought about his lack of night vision and decided to just run until he hit something.
“That’s a great Idea nothing could go wrong with that”, Javal thought to himself
I sprinted ahead not waiting to hear his group’s reactions he sprinted in the dark until after a little bit he rammed into a wall knocking him back a little bit.
“What’s going on is this a dead end of sorts”? Javal said, “Maybe this is a secret passage to their hideout, Lady Kamille should be able to figure this out”.

"You're very brave, Mr. Zarrias."
Kamille couldn’t help but smile at the young fellblood's conviction. While he still sounded a bit young and naive, she admired his intentions. Maybe...
Maybe all he needed was a guiding hand. The world tended to crush those too naive to see the danger lurking behind good intentions, and while she barely knew this man she just met... She hoped to be surprised by him.
Once again, she chuckled softly at Javal's remark on her magic.
"I was very lucky and privileged, to be fair. My father was a mage and alchemist too, so he taught me the basics. He was also a well connected man, so when it came the time for me to fall upon another Master, he also had a good person lined up for me. Curiously enough, though, the bulk of my progress was made when I went to live on my own. I was a terrible apprentice."
The tunnel was lined with a reddish stone, making the dancing flame on her hand look like it was setting the entire thing on fire. The figures casted long, dark shadows along the walls, and the sound of their steps traveled far, echoing in the distance - until they didn’t anymore.
Kamille was about to ask something to Javal when he started running. For a moment she was startled, thinking that perhaps he had seen something she hadn’t. She rushed forwards, followed closely by her own minions, and quickly realised it was all okay when Edgar started to laugh softly. A quick glance from his boss was enough to make him shut up. She promptly stepped forward to check on Javal to see if he was okay and in need of assistance, touching softly on his forehead to check if he was hurt.
"That goes to show that, maybe, it's not the best idea to run in the dark..."
More out of relief than a jest, she chuckled softly at him. Edgar was already stepping forward and making a gesture to make them all be quiet. For a few minutes he seemed to be feeling the wall - and it was worth it, since he seemed to find the rock he needed to push to open the path. To the side of the tunnel, the rocks started to slide with a loud, rumbling sound, and Kamille quickly pulled Javal for them both to get out of the way, as if bracing herself for something. Snuffing out the flame on her hand, she quickly pulled the fellblood against the wall to one side of the door that was opening, while Edgar positioned himself to the other side, except..... Edgar was gone. One second he was there, and the next one he dissappeared without a trace, swallowed by the shadows, without a sound [1,2].
"Wait," Kamille whispered softly to Javal, without realizing she had already put a hand to his mouth to avoid him blowing their cover.
As the door opened, an yellowish light bathed the corridor, flickering and soft, probably a candle. It took less than a minute for Edgar to come back, his large frame finally appearing from the door and blocking the light.
"All clear. Looks like an office. There's another door here, but we should probably follow carefully."
True to their fame, there seemed to be a good amount of coordination between them. Edgar covered the bases that needed a bit more of finesse and stealth, and while he was on it, Kamille stood well out of his way. Finally she realised she had been with her hand over Javal's mouth, quickly taking a step back, midly embarrassed. She needed to learn to work with others - other than her own Black Quills, sparrows and crows, that is.
"I'm sorry. We should move on quickly."

Javal was rubbing his forehead, thankful for Lady Kamille’s worry he was about to yell out his thanks but he saw Edgar begin looking for the key to the rest of this hideout. He had thought it would be Kamille solving this way with some sort of powerful magic but Edgar’s stealthy abilities were just as amazing to see. The walls and floor around the group were shaking. He was a bit worried putting his hand over his katana ready to throw down at any given moment. He was about to yell something warning whatever was out there that he was ready to fight but he found that Lady Kamille covered his mouth so all that came out was a muffled speech about heroism.
Soon he heard Edgar confirm the layout of the next room was an office. Javal tried to express his awe and wonder at Edgar’s skill but all that came out from that was continued muffled speech blocked by Lady Kamille’s hand. Soon she unhandled his mouth and he continued his praise of Edgar not noticing he had been unmuffled until Lady Kamille apologized. The group began slowly and carefully investigating the contents of the mysterious office save for Javal.
Javal was searching for this dastardly vandal in the drawers convinced he was in the office, he was opening drawers cabinets, and notebooks searching for the supposed hiding villain, “Wherever you are dastardly vandal I will find you and bring you to justice” Javal declared loudly.
As he was going through the drawers searching for the supposed hiding villain, Nadia took interest in the contents inside and pulled out a sloppy written note, “What could this be” she says trying to figure out what language it’s in.

Kamille quickly seemed to take interest in what Nadia found, approaching to see the note. Edgar was doing his due diligence by watching the door - not the one they came from, but the other on the opposite side of the room.
"Take anything you find that looks important. We'll figure it out later. Any documents, notes, paper..."
The Witch herself seemed to get interested in what looked like a small accounting book, putting it into her pouch. The office itself didn't seem to have much more. No weapons, nothing valuable, nothing that looked like important information.
"Well... At least we can be sure it was the Scorched Ones... Let's see if there's something else out there, and maybe we should try and block these tunnels to avoid them using them..."
Just like before, Edgar went ahead for them, scouting. He apparently had the ability to turn invisible, so it was easy for him to scout ahead without being caught. The Black Quill went out the front door and returned a few minutes later, announcing the path was clean and they could go out.
The tunnel had sections that were just raw stone carved up, but most of it was lined with the same reddish stone. From the large main tunnel, several other smaller entrances slithered away, probably to either other rooms or other ways into the surface. So far, they have found no one else.
"Do you have any idea, Mr. Zarrias? What do you think we should do?"

Nadia tried her best to decipher the sloppy and barely legible writing.
“My liege, the only thing that I have been able to tell is that it’s mentioning something about people approaching and having to escape and hide out in the secret tunnels. Perhaps the writer was trying to send an emergency message to their fiendish colleagues as they heard us approaching”.
“Darn, our complete attempts of stealth have failed it seems the enemies are masters at detection”, Javal says
“Yeah of course boss, they totally couldn’t hear you smack into the door”, Bootsamon says rolling his stitched eyes.
“Yes Bootsamon, I’m glad you appreciate my stealthy approach”, Javal says straight faced.
Nadia, ignoring this back and forth, decides to look through the desk and its contents trying to find anything on the scorched ones that seemed important. She grabbed as many papers as she could and neatly folded them for her to hold on to.
Javal was curiously examining the walls trying to find some sort of secret mechanism around a perhaps hidden room.
“Hey, should I try what I did before you guys? I mean I think it worked pretty well last time, maybe it worked this time too”, he then turns to face Kamille, “Hm, why don’t we split up and try to check all the rooms either that or maybe my earlier idea”.

"I don't think splitting up is a good idea... Let's stay together, shall we?"
They couldn't split up and maybe get lost on what she assumed to be a maze of tunnels under the city - no, she couldn't let that happen. Not that she doubted Javal's skills, but she doubted it would end up well for either of them if they split up.
Hopefully, among the papers they found, she would have enough of an evidence to incriminate the Scorched ones and prove they were the menace the Sultan refused to see. Although, if they were already warned they were coming...
"We should be going! Quickly!"
"Boss! We got company!"
If there was a secret room to be found, it would remain a mystery, as Kamille pulled Javal by the hand as the sound of footsteps started to echo down the tunnels. Without much thought, Kamille exited the room, dragging Javal with her as her Black Quill followed along. Zhantal, the spellbook, quickly retreated back to the book latched to her belt in a flurry of yellowed pages.
Stealth long abandoned, Kamille bursted out of the opposite door from the one they came in, and while at first the corridors from either sides were empty, they could hear heavy footsteps from either way approaching.
"This way!"
With that, Kamille dragged Javal down the corridor, running. The sound of the steps approaching, she didn't seem to care. To either sides of them, several doors passed by in quick sucession. As they made a turn, they were suddenly faced with a group of three men, all already pulling out their swords, ready to attack the intruders.
