Few things ever bring Astrid out to King's Valley, but this time, she's here for a change of scenery. The rolling grassy plains filled with wildflowers and overlooking the ocean feel calm and serene. Or at least they would if there wasn't a bunch of escaped livestock giving her the runaround! She came out here for some peace and quiet away from home, and then the earth had to have a rumbly in its tummy and knock that farmer's fence loose. Despite her speed with the help of magic, and the fact that she can lift a goat without much issue, she's still struggling on her own. Some of the cows are stubborn, and the donkey pays her no mind. Another Astrid, a duplicate of herself, chases down a calf just across the field, and Spicy Pawsage barks while he (badly) corrals cattle. A shepherd he is not. "Come ON!" she winces, pushing on the donkey to no avail. This isn't working. Maybe more duplicates? No, she needs someone with a better understanding of animals. Just as she goes about pondering this, Astrid spots something dark on the edge of the field. It's huge, black, and fuzzy. Is that... a wolf?

Big Chief Gwondon stared at the Astrids from across the field, the snarling black full helm obscuring her face from view. The various livestock evaded her grasp and frolicked too and fro. “Great” She muttered softly, the voice brought to a low rumble by the helm. “Now theres two of them” She recalled a long night of drinks and raucousness with a local centaur tribe that had supposedly ended in the demolition of whatever corralled these animals. Her headache throbbed as she remembered the wolfskin draped across her back. Slowly, she realized it must strike an ominous presence of a glowing red eyed monster just staring at the child chasing sheep. She waved. Shit that didn’t help at all, just take off the helmet Gwen. Her hair flowed out as the snarling visage was pulled from her head, hopefully putting any tension at ease. She waved once more, shouting across the field. “Astrid! Hey! It’s me, Gwendolyn!”
The sudden shouting startled another calf as the donkey just idly looked over and chewed on some grass. “Weird seeing you out here, pardon my appearance. I was…uh… kidnapped. Don’t worry about it, but I think the kidnappers let all these animals out in the meantime. Yeah. And also broke the fence. Nice day though! Want some help getting them all back in place?” The lingering headache combined with guilt at giving a friend a hard time resulted in just blurting out random thoughts, as well as a regrettable offer to help with dirty stinky livestock. Big Chief Gwandon had different thoughts about filth, but unfortunately BCG was no longer here… Dread Helm CCS Kings Valley Identity

The thing on the horizon isn’t a wolf at all! It’s just someone in some snarly armor. Wait, they’re waving. Oh, that’s Gwen! Astrid abandons the thought of simply lifting the donkey overhead and instead goes to meet Gwen as she approaches.
“Hey, Gwen!” the girl says chipperly. “Didn’t expect ta see ya out here. Or… Well, that ain’t yer usual fit, huh?” Astrid finds it odd that Gwen mentions that she was kidnapped. Being an adventurer, one just kind of travels all around. As many weird situations in which Astrid has run into friends at random, she wouldn’t have questioned running into Gwen here.
Then she mentions that these supposed kidnappers broke the fence. Now, she’s not so sure she believes that, but she has no reason not to believe it. “Some kidnappers broke the fence?” Astrid asks. “The farmer over there said it fell apart when the earth shook. I s’pose I thought some of the breaks seemed a bit odd fer that.” Astrid looks Gwen up and down. “Good ta see ya. Care ta help me gather up all these animals? The donkey's bein' a pain in the butt.”

She did remember some rather obnoxious shaking, but had largely chalked it up to the alcohol and not the literal earth. Her hand was overdealt, but Astrid was young. Hopefully the kid wouldn’t look to far into it all. Just ignore it, it’s worked for so many problems before. “The donkey being an ass? Worry not, it’ll be a piece of cake.” Simple really, animals and peasants had several things in common, and she told peasants what to do all the time. The real answer was to walk over to the farmer and tell them to handle their own shit. On the other hand, Astrid seemed pretty invested in this whole ordeal. Not even to mention the fact that there were multiple of them. Gwendolyn rolled up the sleeves on her gambeson, and tied the strings so they wouldn’t fall. A determined look crossed her face as she stepped in front of the ass, and struck an authoritative pose. “ALRIGHT, MOVE” she shouts, whilst pointing towards the gate. The creature is altogether unimpressed, and in fact stays more stationary than it previously had been. The defeat is almost immediately apparent as Gwendolyn's expression betrays her disappointment. “Huh”

Gwen seems pretty confident about how to handle the livestock, so Astrid stands aside to take a short break and watch. As it turns out, Gwen has no idea how to deal with livestock, and it takes every ounce of Astrid’s control not to let out even a snort of laughter. While Astrid has only worked on a farm a couple of times, she at least knows that telling animals what to do like that isn’t exactly an effective strategy. Most of them need to be coaxed or led in some way. They aren’t people, and most don’t have the intelligence of a person (with some magical exceptions, of course).
But Astrid can’t stifle her giggles anymore. She lets one out, and gives Gwen an amused grin. “That don’t seem ta be workin’ fer ya,” she says. “Honestly, I was gettin’ ta the point of just hoistin' ‘em up over me shoulder ta carry ‘em back ta the corral, but they’re a bit big fer me. Don’t hafta be. If ya can keep ‘em there, I’ve got a coat that’ll make me real tall fer a few minutes.” Why yes, she will be kaijustrid.

“Keep them here, of course I can do that.” She pffts, turning back to the herd and noticing them already beginning to wander off. Shit, most of her solutions were either explosive or poisonous, she didn’t want to kill the herd. Let alone scatter them even further… Unless… Maybe poison was the answer! Thinking quickly, Gwendolyn tied a carrot, a stick, a piece of twine, and a bottle of miasmic catalyst packed to the gills with sleep poison together to create a sleep-gas bomb. She tossed the package softly out into the field. Slowly, after the initial fright of the bottle clinking around, the group of animals timidly began sniffing the carrot. It was at this point, She activated the ring that Wolfe had given her. Her index finger dripped a cold blue ooze, before hardening into needle-sharp spikes. Another of Wolfes oddly ooze-themed abilities, but once more she shrugged it off. Tossing it expertly at the bottle. An explosion of light blue gas enveloped the herd, billowing heavily around each of them before settling softly with the wind. “There, easy! Just uh… Don’t lick them.” She didn’t know how tempting it was to the girl, who was on the verge of wearing a suit to make herself larger, but she wasn’t taking any chances. The series of events that plays out in front of Astrid which ultimately results in an explosion and a herd of collapsed, sleeping animals, catches the young girl off guard. She blinks a few times, then she shrugs as if just accepting it. Honestly, it’s a great tactic.
“What’s that stuff ya used ta make a smoke bomb?” she asks as she pulls out a red coat and dons it. With a bit of magic, Astrid grows to be nearly three times her normal height. Purple magic warps reality around her for a moment, and two additional Kaijustrids form on either side of her. With heavy footfalls, the three of them make their way over to the sleeping animals and carefully collect them in their arms to deliver them to the pen.
The farmer is freaking the hell out in the background. How did the kid get so big?! What happened to his animals?! Astrid does what she can to calm him down in her booming voice while the replicants continue to set the sleeping animals down.
“Seems like yer makin’ good use of the magic ya got from Lord Wolfe,” one of the replicants teases as she sets the animals down.
“Aye, when are ya gonna go on another date with ‘em?” Kaitwostrid asks.

“Ah, it’s a special blend from my homeland made from Nihililacs. Turns most potions into a gaseous cloud.” She says as Astrid grows and splits into her several forms. The appearance of multiple giant Astrids was of some concern to Gwendolyn, whose eyes slightly widened at their appearance. They could easily pick her up and throw her across the field at a whim, but now was not the time for showing fear. Instead of using their newfound height for intimidation however, they seemed just as personable and inquisitive as original size Astrid. She watched as the massive child adventurers each grabbed and hauled the livestock much to the apparent distress of the farmer. Blushing slightly at the mention of Lord Wolfe, Gwen brushes a locke of hair behind her ear nervously. “It is quite handy sometimes. Unfortunately, I get the sense he isn’t that experienced with the whole courtship song and dance. I mean, the first dinner was wonderful and all, and then he springs innuendos to more… adult meanings after winning the race. I fear I almost know less of him than he does of me. I mean, even the feelings I get through the ring are almost all incomprehensible.” Gwen chats idly whilst strolling towards the hole in the fence. She chugs another potions, and with a flick of the wrist summons an icy glyph in the air between the fence and herself. “You seem to know him well… How does he… Feel about me?” She mumbles, twisting the glyph until it glowed in deep earthy tones, before touching it gently. A web of stone shoots out, connecting the pieces of the broken fence in a collection of rocky strands. A rather intricate substitute for a piece of wood that was also right there, but physical labour was beneath her. Frost Web Potion Frost Web Archmage Elemental Mastery, Ice > Earth

“Maybe when we’re done, ya can show me how ta make it or where ta get it?” Astrid asks. “Seems real handy if it can be used with any kinda potion, ya know?”
The next few minutes are full of returning the livestock to their pen, and Astrid and her duplicates hiding smirks from Gwen as she becomes sheepish (pun intended) at the mention of Lord Wolfe. She considers for a moment how to explain away Wolfe’s apparent oddness. Of course, Astrid knows well why Wolfe is actually quite odd, but finding an explanation for it becomes increasingly difficult from time to time.
“They’re definitely pretty awkward about it all,” she finally says. “Don’t think they know the best way ta go about nothin’, if I’m bein’ rightly honest. Wolfe’s like a siblin’ ta me, or at least that’s what I think siblin’s are like. Ain’t got the best memory, an’ they’re still learnin’ a lot about the world.” Astrid pauses for a moment while she considers. Maybe that’s enough to say, and her eyes follow Gwen’s movement to see her temporarily patch the fence for the farmer.
“How do they feel about ya?” Astrid echoes.
“Oh, they totally like ya,” Bstrid chimes in.
“But do they like like her?” Cstrid asks, setting the last of the livestock down.
“I dunno if they know what that means necessarily,” Astrid says.
“We could ask ‘em,” Bstrid says with the most devious of grins a giant twelve-year-old could muster.
All three Astrids look at each other. “Let’s do it!” Then Astrid pulls the red hood of her coat up, and she mentally sends out a message to Wolfe himself while all three of them giggle amongst themselves, though it’s a chorus of rumbles in the pen with their large size.
Hiya, Blue, she says chipperly. I’m with Gwen, an’ she’s wantin' ta know if ya like her! Like if ya really like her. Like goin’ on more dates an’ stuff kinda like. She thinks about how to equate it for them, to give them something as a point of reference. Well, ya know how Cantio an’ Melodia can be sometimes? Gwen kinda wants ta be like that with ya, I think.
Oh, hi Astrid! Sure, I like Gwen. I thought she didn't like me though cuz she slapped me in the face after that race thing. There’s a pause. Like Cantio and Melodia? She wants us to adopt you? But how' would that work? And didn't Cantio adopt me? Astrid can practically hear the sparks of the ooze's (lack of) brain short-circuiting as they tried to make sense of the information.
Oh, yeah, I can see how that slap was confusin', Astrid says in agreement. No, no, she don't wanna adopt no one, she wants ta like... have more dinner dates with ya. Hm... maybe she should explain marriage to them at some point.
Oh, okay! Then sure, I like dinner dates, Blue replied excitedly.
Perfect, I’ll let her know! Thanks, love ya! Astrid says before throwing the hood back. All three Astrids look at Gwen with big grins spread across their faces.
“Wolfe got real confused ‘cause ya slapped ‘em at the races. They thought ya didn’t like ‘em, but if ya do, they’d love ta do another dinner date!”

After a nauseating back and forth between the doppelgangers, and rounding up the last of the livestock, one of the giant children brings up asking Lord Wolfe directly. Gwendolyn chuckles, shaking her head as the supposed original pulls up her hood. “Truly, I could think of nothing more embarrassing. Ah, if only it were that simple…Anyway, of course I would love to show you to my greenhouse sometime. Nihililacs enjoy the climate around my manor, so sourcing them is quite easy.” It was odd, seeing the three of them giggle so much at a hypothetical, or at least, a supposed one. It was only a minute or so after the humour had all but left that Astrid once more spoke up. The colour drained from Gwens face as she realized why Ogstrid had been zoned out. How…How had she done it. The hood?! The veil did little to hide the bright red of embarrassment creeping up from her neck. Gods above, this was perhaps the least dignified way anyone has ever confessed in the history of Charon, nay, the universe. Ok, that was probably an exaggeration, but still. “T-thanks A-Astrid. Ill… keep that in mind.” The attempt at keeping her cool was valiant, but the shakes of adrenaline were still evident. Butterflies rose in her chest at the thought of meeting with him once more, and she absentmindedly twirled the length of her ponytail in contemplation. Their last departure was… less than perfect, but conferring with her remaining Ladies-in-waiting after the fact showed that it was little more than a misunderstanding. “Well…I’m glad he didn’t take it too personally.” She says, a nervous smile hidden behind the embarrassment. “Anyway’s, I’m sure this farmer has had enough of our antics.” Said, while offering an awkward wave to the man who had simply given up trying to understand what was going on. At least his sheep were waking up now.

As if the teasing between the three Astrids wasn’t bad enough, the two duplicates exchange conspiratorial glances and giggles whilst the original has the mental conversation with Wolfe. Luckily, they hear Gwen’s explanation of the plants so they can pass that information back to Astrid when the hood comes off finally.
That is, they would if they weren’t immediately sent into a fit of giggles behind their original when Gwen’s face becomes as red as a tomato.
“Great!” Astrid says, cool as a cucumber. “We live in Sky Peak, so just write ta ‘em, an’ I’ll make sure ya get ta meet up. An’ don’t worry ‘bout it, Wolfe don’t take much of anythin’ personal. They’re just still workin’ on their social skills, ya know?”
One of the duplicates whispers to the other, “But would that make it a love letter?” Another fit of stifled giggles.
Back to her normal size after the effects of the coat have worn off, Astrid and her duplicates look around to double check their work. One of the duplicates rushes over to the farmer to explain what they’ve done, and he offers his confused thanks before the duplicate just… poofs from existence right in front of him. Astrid gives him a wave along with Gwen then she looks at Gwen.
“Aye, it was good ta see ya again though! Thanks a lot fer yer help. I’d definitely like ta see what yer greenhouse looks like and what kinda stuff ya’ve been up ta since joinin’ the Consortium! S’pose I’ll find ya easy enough what with Wolfe havin’ been ta yer place before,” she says with a playful wink, dispersing her last duplicate.
With that, Astrid offers Gwen a handshake (though offering a hug crosses her mind) before waving her a goodbye. “See ya around!”
