Crunch This simple trail, none clear to others, but clear as day to me. Simple sounds, no battles, and, sadly, no storms. Rain is always a comfort, the trickling sounds to the wet embrace it holds. Many do not share this sediment. Instead, I find, I am unique in the way of how I think. It's how I found myself here in Luna Valley, a request for intel in exchange for money and travel time for myself.
In my walk with nature, I come across a proper path. One worn by travel and of many different forms. It reminded me of today's date, Hearth Day. With a sigh, I follow the path so many others have gone, wishing to see if any was left. It was on that path that I found an interesting person behind from where I stand. 9-feet tall and seemingly searching for something, was a werewolf. Me having been used to intimidation, was unfazed by his appearance, it was a homage to my family of elves in fact. His finer clothes added to the fact that he was in control of himself. I simply turn around and use my small stride to follow the worn path, going more and more curious of what could lay ahead.
Should have expected he wouldn't see a girl half his size.

He turned around and nearly yelled, caught off-guard by the sudden appearance of a girl close by him. Or perhaps, it wasn't so sudden, only Leopold was too mesmerized by the scent of the little wildflowers around him to realize he was not alone.
The wolf-man bowed in apology, doing all he could to show that he was not a threat.
"Good day to you," he spoke, the sound more a growl than a voice. "I'm... not here to bother anyone. You, least of all."
His ears were folded back, unsure of what else to say. This was the point where people usually either ran away or started to pull out their weapons.

Amelia sighed, taking in the fresh scent of the trail. She travelled along the path, taking in all the nature. This was a nice break, she had been out adventuring for a bit and was in need of this. She wandered around, slowly making her way through the trail. She listened to the soft crunching sounds that her boots made on the worn path. It kind of reminded her of walking through the fresh snow after a storm, back at home. She was so lost in her mind she nearly didn't see what was going on up ahead.
She quickly hurried over, for mothering was something she always had to do. "Are you both alright?" She asked, looking at them. "I thought I heard a yell." She looked between them, pausing for a moment before remembering something. "Oh, right! I'm Amelia, may I know who you both are?" She smiled.

Raising my hands slightly, I show Amelia I was not hurt. While at the same time, my head turns toward the werewolf. "It is fine, I know my height startles many. I will say, my herbal sent probably did not help in alerting you of my presance." With a nod to him, I let Amelia, who I now realize to one of the few who is shorter than me, finish this... what did my brothers call it when mother worried over them? It wasn't worrying, it was... mother henning! Waving my hand at the dwarf, perhaps in her early 40s, I drag her attention to the scared werewolf.
She takes the bait, switching her focus to the werewolf, his shoulders still scrunched up in anticipation. "Let me introduce myself, I am Keyke. It is a pleasure to meet you Amelia." I turn to look at the werewolf, "It was a lapse of judgement on my part. I had seen you but didn't take into account of the scents and my little noise. May I inquire your name? If not, then to where are you going?" I do a slight head tilt and natural assume a thinking position as I await a response from the, oddly, fearful man.

Now more certain of everyone's intentions, Leopold relaxed. There was no fight to be had, to one to run away from, and perhaps, this was an opportunity to make useful contacts. The werewolf knew that friend was far too much to hope for, anyway, in this monstrous state. His sharp, blue eyes looked to both women with curiosity.
"A pleasure, Amelia. Keyke." Here, he gave them a subtle bow of the head, as a gentleman would. It looked rather odd, for someone of his stature and appearance to do so, but the clothes he wore made it a little less strange. "I am Leopold. My apologies. The world is far too loud, you see."
There was something soothing in the way the dwarven woman spoke, but he could not quite remember what it was that made him feel so. When Keyke spoke up again, the werewolf's tail began to wag, a gentle swish that happened on its own, without Leopold's notice. How long had it been, since he last spoke to others? Far too long.
"I only came out here to enjoy some peace," he said, smiling first at Keyke, then at Amelia. This smile quickly disappeared, when Leopold remembered that his smile looked quite frightening, fangs bared every which way. "Ah. Excuse me. It as been a while... since I last spoke to others. Am I doing this correctly?"

Amelia smiled. Ah, been a while since she's met someone this put together, most at the taverns are rowdy and reckless. Well, a nice break is what she wanted, and it seems the gods are wanting that for her as well. She cracked her neck, before looking around. "Nice day today, hm?" Amelia asked, tilting her head. "I find it quite nice, at least."
She chuckled slightly as the werewolf asked if he was 'doing this right.' "Lad, you can never have a correct conversation, because there's so many ways to have one!" She paused for a moment. "And I also came out here for some peace, I've been doing lots of things lately." She looked between the others. "Please too meet you!" She held her hand out, awaiting someone to shake it.
"Think we should keep walking and find a better place to chat?" Amelia asked. "Thinking right in a trail ain't the best spot." She chuckled, lightly grinning.

Watching interactions is always a fun past time, this one was no different. Watching the natural greetings of Leopold and then his questioning led to more questions than answers, all of which could be found out later. Amelia seemed to be having a breather, but a naturally pleasant personality. Perhaps someone of customer care for a job, or simply knows someone with that type of job.
I quickly take her hand for a small person handshake. "I agree, let us move forward." I direct my other hand to the direction the me and the werewolf were going initially. "After all, I have a feeling both your wishes for peace will be granted on this walk." With such a simple gesture, the entire group moved forward.

"A correct conversation to me is one where I get to keep my hide, so this is going very well, indeed," replied the werewolf with an amused huff. "And you are both quite right. If it is sights you seek... I find that straying from the beaten path grants more for the senses to enjoy."
He would have taken a hand to shake, if he weren't so worried about his claws scratching against skin. Instead, Leopold opted to quickly touch his nose to both hands, if they were willing. The gesture was reminiscent of how noblemen would kiss the hands of women in deference and civility.
"Where do you hail from, Amelia, Keyke?" Leopold asked. He was relearning much of the world, his previous knowledge and memories still inaccessible to him. "When I awoke, it was the Marsh Flats that greeted my eyes, with all its wildness and ferocity. Then again... I suppose I fit right into the scenery."
The man gave a tired rumble of a laugh. He was almost certain he was the living punchline to a joke made by the gods.

Amelia smiled. This werewolf was nice company, certainly more civil than those of the tavern. After shaking hands, or in Leopolds case, touching his nose to the hand, she drew it back. "I'm from Frost Gale, up in the mountains. Why I where the furs, because its absolutely freezing up there!" Amelia replied to Leopolds question. "I've never been to the Marsh Flats, though I've been to a couple other places. Surprisingly, many of them in the desert of Zeinav."
Amelia chatted as they walked, using hand gestures to help explain the things she'd been doing. She always enjoyed a good chat, and this was a good one. She told them about how one time, a patron had decided to replace all the chairs for free, and the chairs turned out to start biting anyone who got near them. Oh how troublesome that day was.
She then realized she was starting to be the only one talking, and paused to take a breath. "How about some stories from you both? You seem like you'd have some interesting stuff to tell." Amelia smiled, continuing to take quick strides after Leopold, for his legs were much longer than hers. She was slightly out of breath, but she could live with it. She also realized she had no idea where exactly they were heading, maybe just going to continue down the trail? She had no clue, oh well.

Listening to Amelia talk about her stories confirmed her job and her skills. After a while of walking on the trail, I watched the path naturally narrow and the other to follow without comment. All till Amelia asked about them. It was a pondering thought, what to say and what to hide. Small and innocent seemed to be the best form for this group. "Well...I have been to all lands. Mainly for a quick travel for my work, but I have explored some. One such time is when I was really young. I had visited the Marshes, first time ever being there, and I was so curious that I got stuck in a tree while looking around the area. My guardian had a ton of fun and won't shut up about my height do to that." I pouted, "It's not my fault I got the short person genes in my family."
I shake my head, "Anyway, how about you Leopold? Any stories? Questions are always welcome as well!"

As Amelia spoke about furs, Leopold did his best to keep his eyes on her, and not on her garments. He was one bad day away from being a wonderful coat, or a good blanket, and this was just a reminder of how careful he had to be.
"There is nothing in the Marsh Flats," he replied with swift certainty, ears drooping in dismay at the memory of his stay there. "Don't go there, if you can help it. Why... I awoke there, and the first thing I thought of doing was to leave, as soon as possible."
When the dwarven mentioned Zeinav, an odd sense of longing filled the werewolf, causing him to stare at her in silence, before turning his head away. Why he felt that way was a mystery, another question to his mountain of unknowns... but at the very least, he could try going there, wherever it was, after he had earned enough coin.
Hearing the ragged rhythm of how Amelia breathed, Leopold apologized and slowed his walk, pausing often and looking to his erstwhile companions to set the pace. Thankfully, when she complained about being the only one to share her tales, Keyke spoke up, giving her own. Good. It would give him some time to think of what to say.
"Why is your guardian not here now?" he remarked, curious. Perhaps she was a noble, then, as she needed one? Without hesitation, he took the opportunity to ask a question instead of speaking about himself... for what was there to say? Even if he wished to, there was nothing for him to tell them. "It is dangerous, to be alone."
He was not alone by choice, and he knew this truth all too well.

Amelia chuckled as Keyke complained of her shortness and told of how she got stuck in a tree. Tales were a good way to connect, which was why Amelia loved hearing and telling them. "Sounds like that was a fun day." She joked, still chuckling. She stopped once Keyke asked Leopold of anything he had to say. She had noticed how the werewolf had been staring at her a couple times, but she took no note of it. After all, could just be she was taking it as staring, and not just paying attention.
She nodded as Leopold asked where Keykes guardian was now, she was wondering as well. She was thankful for the werewolf noticing Amelias struggle to keep up, and slowing down. She looked to Leopold as he said it was dangerous to be alone, seemingly speaking from experience. Amelia was curious of this werewolf, what his history was.
Although she could have spoken up, she stayed silent and let the others continue talking. She needed to regain her breath, and was quite enjoying not being the only one talking, like she usually was.

The change of pace was noticeable, a not even a keen eye would be needed to see that we were keeping up with Leopold better than before. But what was a long-awaited question had come out. The curiosity was so prominent that I would not be able to hide from it. Amelia didn't even need to talk for me to be aware of the look in her eyes. I turn to him, my smile slightly tense but cheery, "Thanks for worrying, but there is now need for one anymore. I am aware I may not look it, or even act like it, but I'm 20 years old." My left hand gravitates to the lantern on my hip.
"Haven't needed them since I was 15 though. So, worry not!" My right hand gives a little fist pump into the air. I turn to the path, noticing trails, hearing many forms of animals. My smile turned big. "I think our destination is right up ahead!"
