Minora had come a long way since they first met. Admitedly, when they first met they might've been drunk, but that is beside the point. The Witch felt she had done right in taking the young woman under her wings; the redhead was a fast learner, proactive and eager... Maybe a tad too much, even. She had all that fiery energy capable of changing the world, but without having the proper technique or outlet, it was all steam and shoting in the water on her end.
On that reasoning, Kamille elected to take her to north of Moonglade on Kalaf's back, briefly explaining about some nobles' cry for help. At that point, both woman had already gotten used to Kalaf, the grumpy black dragon, that left them on a small section of woods outside the Eclipse City. The dragon seemed used to this approach, and even had a preferred spot to take his nap after they bid him farewell and started to walk up to the front gates of Eclipse City and to the streets.
Eclipse City might not be as big as Sol City, but it still was a huge bustling town. Arriving at the height of midday, all vendors were out on the street, and Kamille made a passing comment on how the city was busy probably due to the Night of the Red Rogue. It was approaching, and the streets were beautifully decorated with lights and colorful garlands for the night to come. The night would probably be much more beautiful, with the lights against the night sky, as she remembered it from her childhood years. Her father used to bring her there, and from her own child self the memory seemed always more colorful and bright.
Kamille suddenly snapped out of it, turning to Minora as they walked the streets.
"So, what you need to know now is this: For a couple of years now, some people have been dressing themselves as the Red Rogue and came to steal some things from these merchants and nobles. This year they intend on not letting that happen again, so they called me and asked if I could help protect their warehouse. We're going to meet Lord Velijos now, who's at the head of this... alliance, I should say, between the nobles. It goes without saying that being on good terms with these kinds of people is somewhat of a necessary evil for helping the commonfolk."
....Which Minora should probably interpret as "keep your cool and behave". Kamille was confident that, coming from a noble family herself, Minora knew how to behave. It had crossed her mind briefly, however, that the taste of freedom she got from traveling with the Witch might have gotten over her head, but she wouldn't make conjectures for now and have faith in the young woman. Minora has made her proud so far.

It had been some time since she first left the library and became an apprentice of The witch Kamille. She had learned so much not just about magic but the importance of connections and that sometimes to be an angel you have to shake hands with devils. Kamille’s teachings have helped with her emotions as well, even though she carried that same cold exterior, minora was more approachable not always inside her own mind but out in the world impacting it. No longer staring at books and organizing them she collected them new tomes she could read in her spare time.
At first riding Kalaf was terrifying and majestic. Now it’s just terrifying, spending time with the old dragon had formed at least as she thought a small connection like an understanding between the two, now she can approach him and pat him or inspect him just to learn more about how he thinks and functions. Since being under Kamille’s teaching Minora’s anger and repressed emotions have come more easily. Instead of being stuck in her emotions she’s been learning to let them go and allow herself to feel those emotions and speak on them. Kamille’s teaching are very… Sink or swim but she listened when Minora spoke and didn’t treat her like an underling but as a partner and whenever she spoke Minora listened intensely making sure to take in every word that was spoken to her.
“I understand, I have a few questions though. Do we believe it is the same group of people each year? It seems like a rather big deal at least to the common folk in a jovial sense, we should proceed with caution though stopping these bandits may cause the common man to become angry with the nobles. No matter what we do it’s wise we don’t get too in the middle of it…”
The red Rogue was no problem in her mind but the after effects of what it could do to the city. She didn’t know much about the story of these thieves dressed in red but if people are this into it then if they fail then the people may become angry enough if they dislike the nobles enough to revolt against them and two mages who happen to be caught in the middle, it only took them a short time before meeting up with the noblemen, together with a few guards he stood as most nobles do like they know and are better than everyone else. Just how much she’d like to show him how little he was compared to her but she controlled herself and curtsied before saying in a more elegant voice than her normal one like she was putting on an act and hating every moment of it.
"Good morning my lord, i hope the day treats you kindly.”
She stood back up and than looked towards Lady Kamille to proceed with the negotiations.

Kamille wondered that the mere fact Minora was not being treated like a child or a delicate figurine already did wonders to her development. It was about time she was tossed into the world to fall and bruise her knees and get blisters on her feet from walking so much. Kamille was extremely patient on that regard, as she related so much to the young woman on that regard. There was a time when she was regarded as a fragile thing - an incompetent thing - and yearned to go out and make a difference. And while that time served its purpose of preparing her for the world, it was about time Minora experienced the true world too.
Minora would come to realize Kamille and Kalaf seemed to hold out full conversations at times, and Kamille would even translate what the dragon said. She explained it was because of her Necklace of Animal Speech, that allowed her to understand the dragon. Kalaf was an old gentleman it would seem, a bit grumpy maybe, but willing and patient - even more patient than Kamille. Except when it came time for his naps. He seemed to love to take his naps, and would be extra grumpy for being woken up from one of those. Other than that, he seemed more than willing to entertain Minora for most of the time.
Yes, there is no easy answer to this. For one, we must keep our relations to the nobility as amicable as possible, because whether we like it or not, they are the ones with the bargaining chips. I'm hoping to fill in a gap here and maybe build bridges, instead of burning them.[1]
Both women were led to the noble's office by a group of guards, walking through the lush gardens of his property. It was clear the man was a powerful one, with enough to loose. She had wondered why he would reach out so far towards her when he clearly had the guards and means to protect his own goods. The money he was offering was good too, but... Something was off. She was right to put someone else on that track.
His office was as richly decorated as the rest of the house they briefly saw, with a few hunting trophies on the walls. While the man himself was a hunter on his youth, he had abandoned that a couple years ago. Not that the weigh of age seemed to be upon him: as a moonelf, he looked as presentable and handsome as a couple centuries ago, in his beautiful navy brocade robe with long sleeves covered in golden filigree. Kamille curtsied briefly.
"Good morning, my Lord. I hope to have arrived in time. This is my apprentice, Lady Minora. I assume my Lord won't have any reservations to me bringing her along."
The tall elf presented them with a polite smile, one that didn't reach his eyes.
"Good morning, Lady Kamille, Lady Minora. I don't object to it, don't worry. Though I must say I would expect you to bring along... other associates... They would come in handy in a situation like this. Please take a seat."
Kamille squinted her eyes at the noble, seating on the chair before his desk while he took a seat as well. The Witch had briefly mentioned to Minora she had three people under her services, that people knew as the Black Quills. Even if Minora hadn't met them yet, everyone knew them to act like Kamille's body guards... of sorts.
"The Black Quills are busy at the moment, but I assure you we can handle what you have at hand."
Minora knew Kamille enough to know that it was, at best, only half true. Lord Velijos squinted his eyes at them.
"So be it. My Ladies must be aware of what is talked about by the commonfolk. They speak of the Red Rogue taking the riches of the nobles to give away for the poor, like it was done the last few years. But we're not planning on standing iddly this time, and have reinforced the security of our warehouses."
"If the security of the warehouses is anything like the security of your private property, you should have nothing to worry about."
Lord Velijos squinted his eyes just so slightly. There was something being said without words between them, and Lord Velijos looked very suspicious. After a minute or so of silence, when they both stared at each other without blinking, the Lord finally spoke up.
"You know there has been rumors they will take the opportunity of the distraction of the Red Rogue to try and break into my property," he continued. It was a statement, not a question.
"Yes, I know," Kamille was quick to admit.
"Good. Then it looks like I called the right person. Is this why she is here?" Lord Velijos glanced briefly to Minora. Despite saying so, he didn't look happy.
"One to protect the warehouse, the other to protect your private property. Which one you feel like would be the best for each job?"

Minora stared back at Lord Velijo, meeting his gaze with her own, nothing threatening or in a way to undermine his lordship but showing him that his opinion mattered not to her. Nobles often had that air and look of superiority, in youth Minora must have carried the same look and air.
At this point Minora had explained to Kamille that when she was younger and first discovered her magical ability to move things with her mind, she tried reading her own brother’s mind at dinner causing him to regress into the mental fortitude of a child even now at the age of 27 he still only acts as if he was 5. Her father and mother disowned her and threw her onto the street, soon not able to survive on her own she met an old witch who bestowed onto her the ability to create fire but with a small hitch the old witch would stay with her in her mind as an altered personality created by Minora in the rejection of what life has done to her.
Before meeting Lady Kamille she bottled her emotions up keeping a cold exterior towards anyone who would come her way for fear of letting any emotion loose and setting fire to things or worse losing herself into her emotions like rage and depression. With Kamille’s teachings though as a sort of therapy and training she had learned a better way of channeling her emotions letting them pour into her abilities allowing her to at least have control and the ability to use her fire magic without getting too wrapped up in herself.
The way Velijo stared at her all she could see was her father looking at her with the same self righteous, better than everyone attitude. Minora thought about just turning him into a walking talking matchstick and just being done with this whole thing but she was more than certain that Lady Kamille would not enjoy that at all, plus Minora did not feel like another responsibility talk which they often had to have. Minora began taking more responsibility for her actions but at the same time the emotions she bottled up always seem to come out at the wrong time.
Lady Kamille helped with this, Minora respected her more than anything and since the first time she lost it around her she really only used fire if Kamille said it was allowed and even then she usually told her the amount of heat she should put out. It allowed Minora to use her abilities while having the sense of mind to keep a slight lid on it if the need should arise. After the moment of conversation was over between the two, Minora spoke up again.
“If it pleases Lord Veljio i will protect the storehouse, to make sure none of his valuables suddenly go missing. Either way my lord you won’t have to worry. What’s their usual M.O? Do they take the same routes, maybe a tunnel underneath or from a skylight?”

It was hard to tell if the noble was satisfied or not. For one, he put more faith in the Witch than in her apprentice, which... May be seen as a dick move, but she could understand. The Master is supposed to be more powerful than the Apprentice. And if, for one, his own personal belongings were more secure, it meant the warehouse might be a harder job to pull off.
"It's hard to say. The last few years were simple ambushes; the guards are taken down one way or the other and the goods are transported. No one has witnessed the whole deal to tell exactly how it all transpired. We have reasons to believe this year might be different.... Maybe they'll recruit more powerful people, I'm not sure."
There wasn't much more the good Lord could help them with, but Kamille didn't seem troubled by that. It was her job to gather information, and that much she could do. Before heading out, Kamille promissed they would do their best to fullfill their part of the deal, and handed out a clawed hand to shake the Lord's. The elf squinted and hesitated, but ultimately shook her hand, which.... somehow seemed to please Kamille [1].
"I'll be back to take a tour through your property. First, I'll take Minora to the warehouse and have it all prepared. If you'd excuse us, Milord."
With a slight, curteous bow of the head, Kamille excused them both and headed out. But instead of heading for the warehouse, Kamille seemed to be first taking a detour to... nowhere in particular? The Witch walked with intent through the streets as they left the noble's property, but it was hard to say her true destination.
I wish we didn't have to divide, but that's how it'll be. I'm sure you can handle the warehouse. And you won't be alone either.
She suddenly made a turn and walked into an alley. Before them, the air seemed to shimmer softly as an image appeared where there was none before: a tall half-elf, with broad shoulders, dressed all in black showed up before them. Minora might've recognized him by the descriptions Kamille would often give her, but the pin of the black feather to his chest was the best clue. Before her, one of the Black Quills.
"Minora, this is Edgar, one of my associates. It is always safe to assume there will be at least one Black Quill following, even if you can't see them. What have you found out, Edgar?"
Edgar made a slight bow of the head to acknowledge Lady Minora, before turning to speak to Kamille.
"Many comings and goings to the local orphanage. It's... Strange. We haven't figured out the details yet but... Something's off. The children are acting weird."
That hardly solved anything. It was all they could get in such short notice, but she chalked it up to the rogues behind this promissing the kids some gifts. She turned to Minora.
"Both Edgar and Allan will be helping you in the warehouse. Allan is probably doing his due diligence through the place right now, so when we arrive, you'll have all the information you need about its protection, weakspots and guard shifts. We'll pull this off, don't worry."

“You can count on me, my lady.”
Those were the last words Minora spoke to kamille before heading off to the warehouse, on the walk there Edgar and Allen didn’t speak much usually to each other and in very hushed tones except when Allen spoke up.
“Lady Minora, what is the plan once we enter the warehouse? What do you wish us to do?”
“I want to eyes on every entrance at 1 minute intervals. If it enters the warehouse you turn it back or take it down… Oh and when the fire starts i’d clear the area.”
As she spoke she could feel herself getting more excited by the second each step she could feel the sweet release of flame close, even before she left steam could almost be seen radiating from her body if you knew what to look for. Now though, it was growing hotter she felt the twisting primal fire burn inside her powering each step she took along the darkened and thin crowded streets. After a few moments passed they reached the outside of the darkened warehouse night had not set just yet so there was plenty of time to set up. Sometimes to get what she wanted she didn’t need to fight but merely scare them kamille’s teachings at their best, so she figured she’d do a shock and awe first.
Entering the warehouse was a sight to behold and honestly a death trap it had to two floors with the second being opened so more room could be used for this lords absurd amount of naked tiefling sculptures… No wonder he’d be so protective, after issuing a few instructions to the crows to se up certain ways to be blocked off to funnel them in somewhere she could have better control over the battle. Minora sat a chair down in the middle of the warehouse and simply waited there taking out her usual geography and political teachings book Kamille had got her to brush up on her more negotiable side.
-Hours later-
From the far side of the hall in front of her a door opened slowly, no sounds of fighting either they were taken by stealth or the guards just left their posts, 4 men ragged clothing but all brandishing a red hood save the man in the middle teifling mage from the looks of him, purple skin cat like eyes and bright orange that they are almost a dead give away in the dark. Only Minora sat in the room she closed her book and sighed placing it back into her pouch. Before she could speak the Tiefling male spoke first in a suave rougish type of way.
“I was told a mage would be here but you were certainly not Lady Kamille, so you have me at a disadvantage, miss?”
“Minora of the mages guild, i thought you guys were in this for the stuff now you want to attack just random people not very noble of you.”
“That’s what this lot would like, me i have my own reasons for getting paid. Word spread that the witch herself was here in the city and I simply had to find some way to meet and speak with her.”
“She’s not accepting anymore apprentices, so go try your luck at a birthday party or something, this is the only warning I'm going to give you, believe me you don’t want to see the other side of this…”
The tiefling made a quick sign and a gust of air the force of a hurricane ripped through the warehouse sending Minora flying back smashing against creates filled with what looked like they were once expensive vases now smashed and broken under Minora’s body, this was all Minora needed her heart beat pounded faster and faster as steam came from her opened mouth, her green eyes now a shade orange as she wobbling stood up from the crates bleeding and obviously hurt but still got up. She even moved her body in a swaying motion like the motion was carrying the body around. Her red hair almost like fire with how alive it seemed to become, this was her shock and awe as she did this the crows picked off two of the four men. In the battle Minora lost sight of her goal and became focused on her opponent, she rushed towards the tiefling, her hands engulfed in flames trying desperately to grab hold of him.
The man danced around her grabs effortlessly, as he did he back into a rack containing various items and papers. It wobbled against his touch before Minora stuck her hand out bringing the whole rack down on his body. As the fight progressed more men in red hoods snuck through the back and side entrance, too enraged and impassioned Minora kept on her attack. The tiefling pushed the rack away using the same heavy winds he used before, knocking the rack against some other items her turned and jumped using wind to propel himself in the air. Minora stopped for a moment and closed her eyes trying to send a message to Kamille.
“Lady Kamille warehouse is under attack, mage is with them a strong one.”

The Black Quills promptly went to abide to Minora's directions, even if she couldn't see them anymore. They worked better from the shadows, that much she knew. Despite following her commands, they had their own protocol and way of going about things, which was actually good, since they acted on their own and Minora wouldn't need to micromanage them at all.
The comment about the fire didn't seem to elicit any kind of surprise from them. In fact, from Kamille's apprentice, fire was the only thing always expected, no matter what... The rest was always a surprise.
Thus, they waited.
Kamille and Poe didn't stand on one place for too long, always separated but with their minds connected by the strange black feathers that they carried. For the most part, their night was calm and peaceful - she wondered if Minora was doing okay for most of it, since she assumed the larger and more flashy assault would be directed towards the warehouse. Minora wouldn't have to contain herself much, she assumed. Unlike the house she stood now, which...... Probably would be a little bit more complicated. Require a bit of finesse, and Kamille had some kind of illusion that she had some of that.
The house was quiet, and Kamille had sat down for a moment as the rounds kept on coming and going. Lord Velijo certainly had a good amount of guards, she would know if his security was breached at any point, she knew......
My Lady, the west wing is under attack... Should I...?
Don't reveal yourself. I'm on my way.
The house remained quiet and no alarm had sounded. Whoever it was, it probably was a small team of very skilled individuals. Dealing with sneaky people always left her tense, since she wasn't particularly fast. If she was caught by surprise, it could be the end of her. Luckly, she had another set of eyes with Poe.
Kamille headed to the west wing, but even before she could reach it, a sudden movement before her forced her to act on impulse. If under any circumstances a blade would have found its way between her ribs, now it found no resistance and only air... and a starry mass of arcane might, as Kamille's body became ethereal and spectral [1]. The assassin that took the plunge for her seemed to be surprised when he passed right her, tumbling over to the other side but quickly finding his feet once again, just in time to find a weird weight over his whole body, as if time itself held him back [2]. His reactions slowed down, Kamille turned to the other two that prepared to attack her, down the corridor.
"Good evening, gentleman. I'm sorry, I didn't hear you knock..."
One of them took the lead, taking a step forward. They all had their faces covered, but looked humanoid - possibly elves, she couldn't know for sure. The one that stepped forward took out his swords, two smaller ones.
"We weren't expecting to meet you here, Lady Kamille. Please, step aside."
"No. Who are you?"
"A ghost from the past."
While she still had that ethereal shape, a transluscent greenish kind of ooze started to gather at her feet, covering a small area around her with the sticky substance [3] that they would need to step on if they wanted to reach her. Or so she hoped.
Kamille received Minora's mind message, and her brow furrowed.
Can you handle them?
"Lady Minora!"
It was... fairly unusual for the Black Quills to break formation unless it was for something important. It was the archer, who rained arrows at the men while Edgar kept them busy from up close. Allan sounded disgruntled, to say the least.
"Lady Minora, they are using children!"

Children? What to do now? She couldn’t go all out; she'd hurt the children but maybe if she took down the mage they might lose moral. Minora quickly sent a message to both Quills.
“Disengage! If i can stop the mage they may stop as well for now let them take, protect high value items but do not kill only disarm and incapacitate.”[1]
Minora’s focus quickly went back to the mage, she was angry far more than she was before and now she couldn’t do anything that could injure the rest but she can focus all that rage on this mage before her, she adjusted herself and out of her mouth steam as more rose from her body her eyes glowing with pure anger. She crossed her arms quickly causing multiple items to fly towards the mage[2], he quickly dipped and dodged around flying high toward the ceiling as more items flew towards him. Smashing and crashing along the ceiling the tiefling laughed as he looked down at her.
“Wow you’re pretty incredible i can see why she chose you…”
“Using children is a real rotten move asshole! Fight me without them here and i’ll show you incredible!”
“Hmmm interesting offer… Very well we are done here anyway.
Minora looked around as the items that weren’t smashed in the fight, being safe guarded by the Quill were being carried out by the now at least 20 red hooded individuals, they tripled in a few moments but how? Looking around herself she couldn’t help but feel completely useless. She failed, her arms dropped to her side and the floating items around her that was creating a small tornado stopped and softly landed on the ground. Now not only was she angry she was powerless as well, across from her the mage landed and clapped his hands in an applauding manner.
“Congrats you’ve learned a hard lesson today Lady Minora, failure is inevitable. Don’t feel bad that not many can stand against the great Avaloch.”
He began to walk over to Minora before he stopped in his tracks. He couldn't continue, he looked down and his feet were sunk deep into the ground[3], he began panicking as he trying digging his feet out but they were stuck. Minora laughed a bit and whipped some of the blood from her head, without a word she ran up to the mage and with her hands engulfed in fire she grabbed his head leaving two large burn marks the size of hands on his face. He screamed loudly and placed his hands up blasting Minora back 20 feet onto the ground knocking the wind out of her, as she struggled to grab her breath she looked up to see the mage vanished along with the rest of the rogues, many things were missing but the warehouse still had a very large amount of items still in it. She sighed heavily and sent a message.
“Lady Kamille, warehouse is now secure. Took a lot of hits and a lot of the inventory was taken but not all, i think at least half of the items still remain… I don’t think the lord will be very pleased with us."

It was hard to see all that was happening in the dark, the noises of a silent struggle going on while the mages had a go at each other, but when all went silent and all stood still, Minora could take notice of the Black Quills once again.
They didn’t look hurt at first, but looked defeated. Allan barely had any action with his bow, but Edgar got it doubled. It was hard to notice it now, but a few of the kids got knives, and sunk them once or twice into the Black Quill - nothing serious, but he clearly winced when they approached.
On top of that, Edgar was holding a squirming, biting and kicking child. He wouldn’t hurt them, but knew Kamille had ways of getting information that they couldn’t even begin to understand....
The group looked careful, since despite being on the numeric advantage they seemed well aware of who they were facing against.
After a moment of hesitation, one of them lunged forward, waiting for her ethereal spell to wear off. He tried to skip the puddle of goo altogether, jumping straight for her in the middle of it: Kamille's image shimmered and dissappeared before him, appearing a few yards away[1]. When he tried to go after her, he got stuck in the goo. One of them slowed down, the other stuck in the goo, it only remained one able to truly face her, and once her ethereal spell wore off, he also tried for an attack.
It was then that Poe revealed herself, striking from the shadows and sinking her katana to the side of the man. He let out a loud grunt as his path was diverted to avoid the entirety of the attack, quickly engaging in a savage exchange of blows with the Black Quill, his long daggers against her katana, only the glint of their blades visible from time to time as they caught the moonlight coming from the windows.
While they exchanged blows, Kamille started preparing a spell for the ones that remained. Both of them tried to reach her before she could finish her spell, but it felt like they were in slow motion. In a sudden surge of power and flash of light, Kamille raised her hands as a giant fireball formed on her palms[2]. The spell exploded, the radius of the magic easily taking out both of the assassins while also having the impact force to push back the two duelists, who fell down the stairs and dissappeared in the darkness once again. Flames licked at the darkness, quickly spilling light all over the destroyed corridor and the two assassins on the ground. They were still alive, but the explosion would quickly set off the alarm of the Lord's guards and they would be on their way to surrender them.
Before they arrived, however, Kamille quickly searched for their pockets and pouches, apparently happy with a few papers she found that were not scorched and quickly hid inside her corset. When the guards arrived, Poe arrived too, looking hurt but mainly dissappointed. Their leader had escaped.
The Lord will have many reasons to be unhappy. Meet me at the Midnight Sun. We'll need to talk before we see the Lord.

“I’ll be there just have to… Take a second.”
Minora dropped to her knees and sighed heavily before her breathing got raspy, she held her arms as heat rose from her. She was angry and sad, she wanted to fully show off her training but the mission parameters kept her from using her full abilities but she had a feeling she’d see that mage again and next time he wouldn’t be so lucky. She calmed herself down and slowly stood up with all the adrenalin gone. Her body felt like it was pulled under a cart for 6 miles, she groaned and slowly began walking.
It didn’t take her long to reach the inn in that time she wrapped her head wound and kept her hair in a ponytail, she brushed off some of the dirt that covered her clothing, entering the tavern was like entering a whole other world there was music and dancing and lots of adorable men which Minora actively tried to ignore, thoughts of her leading a normal life and getting married flashed through her head but she quickly pushed those to the back seeing Kamille sitting at a corner table meant for two. Fear gripped her that she did fail in her objective and she had a feeling Kamille wouldn’t be too happy about how banged up she looked, Minora pressed on and sat down at the table across from kamille. Moments passed and the anxiety inside of Minora rose to high levels she had to say something so she didn't explode with her feelings she was getting better at keeping the heat around her that people would just feel a soft warmth against their skin if they approached her far better that the exploding heat she was use to giving off. Since doing this people came up to her more to talk which was so strange to Minora that she was often taken back by it.
“I’m sorry I failed.. The mission changed from protecting useless items to making sure no children were harmed, That mage though… He was different and strong and I got the feeling he was toying with me the entire time we fought.”
