It was a busy, chilly, winter afternoon in Sol City, with the docks just as busy as ever, merchants peddling their goods, ship captains ordering their crew around and crew men prepping ships to sail. There was always something going on down at the docks, being the biggest port in Charon, it was easy to find work, hire passage or get into trouble. Plague was normally getting into trouble down here in this part of the city, the port being one of her prime pick pocketing spots. You could always find a fat, rich, pompous merchant who needed to be separated from their coin purse, but today the crime would have to wait, for the young alchemist was actually here to hire a ship captain.
Plague had been hard at work setting up contacts in various cities through out Charon, and had finally established a homebase here in the capitol, the Rat's Nest now a safe haven for any lost or wandering soul oppressed by the crown. Her plan was slowly starting to bloom, but more work needed to be done, and the next phase of her master plan required another trip across the sea. On a normal day, the young girl would have just snuck aboard a merchant ship and stowed away, but this trip was different, danger was likely and she would need a crew able to defend itself if trouble arose. Unfortunately Plague was not a rich woman, in fact she only had one single Solar on her person, and was doubtful she could hire anyone with a single gold piece. But she had to try.
Thick leather boots pounded the cobble stone street as Plague rushed through town, making her way towards the docks before many of the ships set sail for the day. Most locals paid no mind to the girl, orphans and street urchins were a common sight in the city, poor homeless children that survived on trash and scraps, but to anyone that was not use to seeing her, Plague would be odd looking. She wore her normal dark green outfit, fit with leathers and various hidden pouches, with a hood and mask covering the entirety of her head. She wore a make shift plague doctor outfit, fitted with a doctors mask that could filter toxins in the air and definitely looked out of place compared to the nicer, more fancier dressed merchants.
Now at the docks, the masked woman scanned the boardwalk, seeing many different ship wrights and crewmen hard at work. Unfortunately her fear came true, as no one even bothered to pay her any mind, let alone entertain the thought of ferrying her across the sea. There had to be someone here who would offer her passage for cheap.

"The Priest?! How could he have gotten foot fungus on the day of our weeding Hun! do something!!" "Whats there to do Ma! Stop yelling you! You old hag! The cleric said he's bedridden, foot the size of my head!" He responded frantically, waving his hands as he spoke before pointing at his head in dramatic fashion. The two were an odd couple, halflings, both seemingly wearing their most lavish outfits, The burly man with a big nose wore a top hat, and sported a nobles coat with fine stitching. The woman, who stood at least a foot taller than her spouse wore a blue dresses that dripped down to her ankles, the blue satin like dress glittered with shiny trinkets and sparkles. The tone and manner in which they spoke to each other suggesting they have been together for quite sometime. "Nonsense your head is far too big, he must have a thing against marrying halflings! He needs a good clobber! stop being such a wimp!" The small women slurred her words as she scolded the other, , clearly inebriated, likely from fancying one two many drinks at their wedding celebration the night before. They bickered on as the spouse began too pace back and forth along the wooden planks of the docks.
The couple argued loudly by the pier as the wailing of the soon to be wife echoed across the docks, a small crowd of spectators gathering to watch the halfling spectacle. From behind the gathering spectators the hooded Zendrix watched, sipping on a small flask of dragons rum, one of the signature homemade drinks he had brought with him from the cradle. He found amusement in the pair as they yelled and caused a scene to stir around him. He had been meaning to make his way back to his ship, where his men worked and prepped for his new voyage, but couldn't find himself walking away from the unfolding events before him. While the loud noise might have irked him upon his initial awakening, he had enjoyed breaking his fast along the children running around the streets, who had now sat near him to watch the bickering haflings. He waited several moments, while the other specatotors made note of what was going on before returning back to their own business, Zendrix watched the couple closely, smirking, before leaning off the wall and pushing towards them.
"What seems to be the issue here" He called out, his voice booming and intimidating as he approached the two on the docks, stopping and looking at the two before another smile escaped him. Pulling off his hood he reveled his elven face, one whose beauty often mesmerized on lookers, he reveled himself to the couple, his amethyst eyes looking over the halfings. The man shuttered as he took a step back form the approaching man, an uneasy feeling filling the man as he looked into the elf eyes. The woman had a different reaction, stepping closer and grabbing hold of the elven stranger before them, her eyes gleaming as she batted them in his direction. "Well aren't you a beauty!" "MA! im standing right here!" "Oh hush you old fart, show some class this gentlemen is the only one to answer our wails! all these ugly ones just walked right past us and judged us with their eyes!" "Somethings not right with this one!" "RUDE!" she balked back as she wagged her finder at him, the man looked down, like a sad pup after being scolded, before meeting Zendrix gaze once more. "My apologies, You caught me off guard... Not many of you elven royalty take time to speak to little--- " "I am no royal, these lands may be more foreign to me than to you... now what's going on, why does your wife wanna string you up so badly?" The halfling man played a bit with his fingers as if the very question had filled him with anxiety before answering. "Well me and Ma were suppose to get married today.... I proposed 17 winters ago but as traveling merchants we never found the right time or place and well..." he looked over at his bride to be, who returned his gaze with a look of disappointment and rage.
"After we decided to do it here in the "Golden city"and managed to find the solars to have the ceremony.... our priest was struck with illness! the only one available to perform the ceremony today! Ive tried to tell Ma we can change it fro another day but she.. she believes if I can't make it happen today... it'll never happen" "Thats cause it won't! 17 years I've been with this doof! all I have to show for it are the bags under my eyes." Zendrix paused for a moment, holding in the laughter that arose from him as hard as he could. This couple already played the married part wonderfully, he wondered after 17 years, what difference would a marriage be. He looked back at the man, while he appeared rough and battle hardened the hailing was certainly dominated by his bride to be. He felt pity for the man, clearly the women was no pushover, the man had not even started his marriage and already he weight of matrimony shown all over his face. "So you're in need of an official then?!" He asked intrigued at the notion. "Yes Mr. Elf with the beautiful eyes, do you happen to know any?" "Unfortunately I don't... however captains have, since the dawn of sea voyages, been granted the privilege of officiating marriages in the ritual of holy matrimony. They say some of the first priest were sea captains on missionary trips. If you'd like... I can bring your union together under the eyes of the gods and men alike." Zendrix postured himself a bit as he puffed out his chest and looked up into the sky for added dramatic effect. In fact he had never performed a marriage ceremony, and it was likely that his volunteering to do so stemmed more from his boredom and the alcohol he had consumed than purity of heart. Still he knew it would be interesting to be a part of any ceremony that included these hailing's. "Wait... you're a Ship captain!?" The halting man called out as he looked over the towering elf shocked at the revelation that the half drunken hooded wanderer had a ship in tow. "So you're not a prince! but a captain! oh my so many layers!" The halfling woman called out her eyes still fixated on the elves as she blushed. Zendrix took a step back from the two before he let out a chuckle. He pointed past them to the end of the port where his ship had been docked, the red demon Jolly Roger plastered on the black mast stood over the smaller ships. "Follow me... lets get you two love birds married shall we!" He called out as he walked in the direction of the ship, snapping open his flask and chugging along the way.

Half an hour had passed, and Plague was not any closer to finding passage, realizing just how difficult this endeavor was going to be. Every captain she encountered turned their nose up at her the moment she mentioned only being able to pay a single Solar for the trip, and seemed to not even care that she offered her labor. Manual labor was easy to find here, gold was not, and unless you had a small fortune to offer, finding a ship was going to be difficult. Normally the petite street urchin would have just snuck aboard a ship and hid beneath their cargo hold, hiding out until they reached land fall. The Golden Port was a different beast however, everyone here was on guard. Captains watched their ships and city guards patrolled the boardwalk, making crime a very difficult thing to pull off. Not to mention Plague had already earned herself a reputation around the city, so the guards were especially attentive when she was about. Things were not looking great for her, if she was not able to find a ship, then her entire plan could have been in jeopardy. That's when a very random conversation caught her attention. Down the boardwalk a couple of halflings were having a conversation with a very elegant looking elf, apparently they were trying to get married and were negotiating with a ship captain to get it done. A devious grin fell over the girls face as a brilliant idea spawned within her tiny evil little brain. The plan was complicated however, would require a bit of finesse and would ask something of Plague that she hated doing, showing her face in public. But the plan was greater than her discomfort, and so she put her scheme into motion. The young orphan found a dark alley nestled between a boat wright and a supplies store, concealing herself from the public for a few moments. She brushed a layer of dirt that had formed on her clothing and tried to straighten her outfit to look more presentable. Next came the hard part, the mask. Through gritted teeth Plague pulled the olive green hood down and removed her plague doctor mask, tucking it away in her potions bag. Short blonde hair escaped the sweaty confine of the mask, blowing gently in the afternoon winter air. Bright blue eyes blinked as she got use to the shift in light, her young, beautiful, yet dirty face came into full view. She hated this. With a deep breath Plague left the safety of the dark alley and maneuvered her way towards the elven captain who was now agreeing to do the ceremony for the halfling couple. Plague put her best hopeless face on and approached the ship captain. "Oh my, did you say that you are able to do weddings? Me and my lovely fiance have been looking everywhere for someone to help wed us, all these other ship captains say its a job that is beneath them. We don't have much but I could offer you a few Solars if you would be willing to take us north to Frost Gale and then wed us! "Her fake accent was awful, her body posture awkward, but she was trying. It was dawning on her however, if this make shift planned worked and the elf agreed to ferry her, she somehow needed to produce a fiance. She was a good liar but this was something out of her control. A heaviness settled in her stomach, maybe this was not such a good idea.

Zendrix's mind wandered to the ceremonies he had witnessed aboard his old ship, that turned into extravagant feast filled with meat and ale. The band of merry pirates had often taken in weary traveller of all natures, runaways, castaways, all searching for something new, hope. He especially enjoyed those moments aboard the Queens Gambit, when the crew of misfits managed to be a part of moments that exhume the experience of life and al its joys, the birth of a child or the union of lovers. He hadn't had the chance to host such events on The Basilisk, having often left the ship under the care of his sworn sword but he'd promised himself this would be the first of many. He paused his thoughts for a moment as he looked back at the halflings behind him, the women skipping along besides her soon to be husband, they looked happy as they gingerly marched behind him. He hadn't planned his next journey, perhaps he'd ensure the couple made it to their next destination, or perhaps he'd skip on to the next town hoping to find another Before they could push forward they were abruptly interrupted by an awkward blonde girl, her face spotting patches of dirt that complimented the rugged scuffled clothes she bore. The women appeared uncomfortable as she stood, her posture and body language screaming she did not socialize much nor did she fit in withe the mend woman moving about the port. Zendrix eyes fell on the woman curiously, pushing his hair away from his face as he looked the woman over, her accent seemed to fail her as she spoke up, but Zendrix paid little mind to the girls forced speech. He chuckled a bit as he pictured this one getting married, something about the girl gave him the impression that there was much to the girl than she led on. He took a moment to look around for the girls fiancé before giving her a shrug his eyes settling over the halfling couple. "You guys mind?" "No sir! were lucky youve taken us in.. you've got a kind heart !" The halting stumbled in his speech as hiss bride grabbed hold of his hand tightly before he replied. Zendrix chuckled as he walked past the girl and continued making his way aboard his ship. "I guess it won't be a problem.... Where is this fiancé of yours anyway? the frost Gales is a ways away, who knows what might find us along the way. I'd say we have the ceremony here today, and set sail at dusk. Im sure you love birds can't wait to joined at the hip for all eternity. Besides Im afraid the gentlemen here won't last the night if his bride spends another night unwed. We can have a joint ceremony, that is if you and your fiancé agree..." He called out as he downed another large gulp of alcohol, a slight stream running down the sides of his lips before passing and looking back at the woman. "Hey? where is your fiancé anyway?! my ships the last one on the dock, they can meet us there." The ships figure head came to view he stepped farther into the port, the giant demon angry rearing its head in blue shined against the rays of sunlight.
"Anyone aboard?!" He called out from the port to his men, as the sailors and ship workers that remained responded bellowing loudly in response from behind the quarterdeck, cheering their captains return. In a blink, the elf disappeared from besides the group, before reappearing standing above them, sitting over the giant beastly figurehead of his ship. He pulled his large hooded robe off his sleeves letting it fall gently on the ship beneath him before standing raising his arms towards the newcomers. The large elf revealed his bare chested torso, riddled in tattoos and scars. His long red hair ran wildly down his back as thick and wild as the beard he fashioned on his face. The purple eyed elf flashed the group a bright smile, excited at the prospect of curious individuals abroad his ship. It had been some tie since he held a feast. " Inform your guest to meet us here... The weddings will be at sunset! The feast will commence right after!" He called out to them, his booming voice only exaggerated his excitement as he gleaned with joy. "Welcome to the Basilisk!"
