As Shaa and Snowy returned triumphant to the warehouse, Petey vanished back into the magic ether from whence he came. Till next time… Shaa says to the air. As they enter the warehouse, Shaa sees the group packing up several wagons with the items that had been acquired earlier in the evening. Shaa and Snowy walk over to Nick who is standing in a corner with a clip board.
Ah, looks like our guards are back. It seems as if you all managed to keep the place in tact. ( The sound of glass breaking can be heard from outside) Shaa gives Snowy a look. Oh sure, no problem at all. Nick looks at both of them and laughs. Well we held up our end of the deal as you can see. We managed to finagle all the carts we could. Now we just need to deliver them. Nick flipped a couple pages from his clip board, found the one that he was looking for, and neatly removed a piece of lined paper. Checking the list a second time, he smiles and hands it over to Shaa.
Ok so if you two don’t mind staying as a team, we have 3 houses for you to deliver these gifts. The addresses are on this paper. There is not much time left. You will need the cover of darkness on this, the longest night of the year, to deliver everything safely. Once your done, you are free to enjoy the holiday however you wish. Thank you both so much for all of your support. We truly could not have done this without you. Nick hands them both a small peppermint Yeti. Shaa smiles and munches it whole. He turns and gives Nick a big hug. See you around my friend. Not if I see you first.
Walking over to the cart and finishing off his Yeti, Shaa looks over at Snowy. Ok strap in. It’s time for our Midnight run.

There is a look of utter delight plastered over every inch of Einheria's face.
Those lavender eyes of hers are hazy with the lingering effects of the entire bottle of blueberry wine she had unceremoniously downed in the midst of Shaa's labyrinth, but they sparkle with unchallenged mirth, lips upturned in a joyous smile as the two of them return to the warehouse. Her hair is a mess and her clothes are unkempt and she looks like a mess, but oh, never has a day in her life passed where she has cared less.
What a brilliant night it has been. It has merely been hours since she was huddled in the corner of that seedy bar, her furs gathered around her, full of unease and fear over what the night would usher in, but now she stands in the light of triumph, of victory. She has battled mercenaries and the undead and dueled a necromancer with reckless abandon, fetched crates from the maw of danger for the sake of delivering joy, gone from shy and shuddering little serpent to a glorious phantom thief all in one night, and the adrenaline of it all still sings in her veins.
Well, that and liquor. Lots of it.
Her gait is unsteady as she follows Shaa, stumbling into the warehouse, her shiv long discarded in the midst of chaos-- instead, she's fetched her glaive once more for support, using it as a crutch as she walks along. As soon as she catches sight of Nick, she offers a bright smile and an enthusiastic wave, listening eagerly as he explains what remains-- oh, they are truly so close to true victory...! How exciting...! Such a thing is enough to banish any notions of tiredness from her brain!
She waves once again, eager to take the peppermint and dart off after Shaa, twirling around and jumping so she can sit at the edge of the cart.
"But of course! Let'sss go!"

Shaa and Einheria finish the cart prepping and roll out into the mist of the night. The other groups do the same until, one by one, they find themselves alone heading towards the first address on the list. The address takes them to a densely packed part of town. Despite the early hour, several people are milling about the streets with various errands to run. As Shaa pulls the cart along, trying to be as casual as possible, he can feel a set of eyes staring at them. The feeling continues to grow until a figure steps out of the shadows in fron of them. Good evening, may I have a word please?
Shaa looks at the figure. It is a tall eleven man with a long coat and saber at his side. His hair and clothes are neat and stylish, with shoes that Shaa could tell were regularly polished. The problem was the badge on his coat. Shaa leans in to Snowy and whispers Crap, it’s the fuzz. Be cool. Clearing his throat, Shaa approaches the elf. Evening officer, how can we help you? The elf looks Shaa up and down and nods over to the cart. Little late to be hauling things, don’t you think. It’s the holiday sir. Lots of people making last minute deliveries. I mean, look around. Sure enough, people were still milling about the street in the chill of the evening. True enough…is that your cart? Shaa looks over at the cart. That cart? No…it’s myy friends cart. He let me borrow it. So that’s not your cart? That’s what I said. It’s my friends cart, just borrowing it. Who’s your friend? Can we ask him? Shaa didn’t want to seem evasive but he didn’t want his friend to get in trouble either in case this went south. Bob, my friend is Bob. And you can’t ask her…she’s….out of town for the holidays. Bobs a woman? Yes..Bob is short for…Bobera…The elf looks at Shaa skeptically.
The elf continues to press. What’s in the crates? Can I take a look? Fraid not. They are frozen goods, if we open them, they’ll melt. That’s why I have the ice mage over there. Shaa points a thumb over at Snowy who is waving from the cart. The elf is even more skeptical. Show me one of them. He says flatly. No can do sir. This is my lively hood and I have three small Minotaur at home to feed. Your’e a father? What is that supposed to mean? Where do you think Minotaur come from, the sky? That’s not what I meant. Shaa raised his voice a bit. Sir, I am getting very uncomfortable with this line of questions. I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to ask about my sex life. Several people stopped in the street and started to stare. What’s in the cart! Please sir! I’m just trying to get home to my four…three children. I am feeling this line of questioning….it’s a bit RACIST! The elf looks shocked. What!? You know this isn’t about race. And is that woman drunk? Shaa looks at him, tears in his eyes ( from pulling out leg hairs) She’s not driving, I don’t see how that’s relevant. Whats more, I know that if I was an elf, WE WOULDN’T BE HAVING THIS CONVERSATION!
Several more people of various species started to gather around murmuring. Oh sure, I’m a Minotaur. Just a big monster who is up to no good. Not a hard working father who’s tromping around the holidays trying to provide for his four three three starving Minotaur at home. It’s always the same. The murmur of the crowd starts getting louder as more people gather around. A band of drunk goblins approach. Yes! Elveses is always throwing gobo in jail for stealing and stabbing. No fair! The elf can see where this is going and starts backing away from the drunken unruly crowd. We aren’t done here…not by a long shot. Shaa waves at him as he leaves. Night sir! The drunken rabble cheer as Shaa returns to the cart with a heavy sigh. Let’s get out of here!

There is mercy in the fact that Einheria does not have to be on her feet for too much of this venture.
She is content to settle on the cart's edge, cheerfully swinging her legs back and forth as she rides along, a sonorous giggle spilling from her lips as the wind rushes past her, dancing through her hair and veiling her in the pleasant cold she so delights in. After a night of endless battle, of skating into combat and shredding the undead to rotten ribbons and burning a warehouse to cinders, it is nice to have this moment of peace, where she just gets to ride along and wait for the next bit of action to start.
That is, of course, until some elven guard approaches, clearly skeptical of the whole ordeal, his eyes narrowed in displeasure-- as Shaa leans in and whispers for her to be cool, to piece her act together, Einheria straightens her spine and settles as well as she can, trying to paint the pristine picture of a sober woman as well as she can. So what if her eyes cannot focus quite properly, or if she's swaying unsteadily even where she sits? It's fine! She is just fine, this is just fine, all will be just fine.
Most of the conversation floats over her head, but she's distantly aware of tears blooming in Shaa's eyes, of rising tension, of the elf gesturing to her in disbelief-- she waves, of course, managing a giggle and a smile--, but chaos bursts into being before she can start to piece everything together again. There is babbling and clustering and a sudden rush of goblins, and as soon as she hears the urgency in Shaa's voice, she's quick to slip off of her perch and run along beside him, helping to propel the cart forward so they can make it to their destination as quickly as can be, leaving all traces of drunken rabble and a guard's apprehension well and truly in their dust.
"I sincerely hope that's the last we see of him," she huffs, still trying to map her steps properly. "What a-- a... a rude man. How much longerrr?"

Shaa looked back at Snowy. Just should be right around….here! Shaa checked the paper. Sure enough, they had reached the first of three destinations for the evening. The location was a small apartment located above an apothecary. Packing several boxes, Shaa gently knocks on the door. At first, there is no answer. After knocking a second time, the door is opened by a small gnomish boy of no more than 7. His hair is unkempt and dirty from the look of him. He sports a grimy waistcoat and fingerless gloves with hole ridden trousers. He’s not wearing any shoes. In looks at them in a bit of a panic.
I…I’m sorry but my dads not home. He didn’t leave any money but I’m sure he’ll be back soon. Shaa tried hard to smile. Dad? We aren’t here for your dad. We came to drop these off for a bright young man named Tommy. I’m Tommy…Tommy said slowly and carefully. Shaa kind of pushed his way past into the apartment. Where do you want these? He says holding up the boxes. Tommy just shrugs. Shaa puts some on the floor and one on a small card table in the corner of the room. With a small grunt, Shaa rips the top off of the box revealing several food items. Here you go buddy. Tommy lights up hopefully and moves over to the box. He looks tentatively inside then back at Shaa and Snowy.
I’m sorry, we can’t afford…. Shaa shakes a hand at him. No no, just gifts. You take care of yourself. Tommy looked as if he was about to break down. Shaa wasn’t quite sure what to do and turns to Snowy and Shrugs.

The grand majority of this night has, for Einheria, been spent in blissful whimsy; the intoxicating rush of combat and alcohol entangle so sweetly, the ghost of some frozen, fruity cocktail still lingering on her tongue somewhere beneath the tart sweetness of blueberry wine. One wild event has rushed into the next, a seamless rush of joy flowing like a reckless river, and she has been content to ride along, merry and wrapped up in her arbitrary battles and the story she's written in her head.
And yet, in this moment, despite the way tartness still stings her tongue and clouds still curl in her mind, she feels... painfully sober.
The child she and Shaa had come to deliver gifts for seems... wholly uncomfortable with the concept, as though he has never once received a gift without a price in his life, and now he is just waiting for the catch. His eyes brim with apprehension no child should ever have to hold in their gaze, tiny shoulders tense with dread, insistence about finances and other things that should lie in the hands of adults and adults alone spilling between from his chattering teeth, and somewhere within her frost-lined ribs, Einheria can feel her heart aching.
"...Tommy," she begins, kneeling on the floor, focusing on the child before her, lavender eyes burning with insistence. "This fine minotaur and I are... emissaries of this Winter's Crown. You need not worry about price, or about repayment; this is for you to enjoy. My sincere wish is for you not to worry about what this might have cost, or whether you can afford it-- we are merely happy to bring you something that may make you smile."
She offers a gentle smile, her expression soft, the traces of her earlier wildness slipping away as she immerses herself in this moment, as the glorious fairy tale of stealing and guarding and racing into the streets to deliver back to the less fortunate crumbles around her to this sobering reality. In this moment, she is faced with truth, and truth is untouched by the stories she so loves.
But oh, nothing will stop her from trying to bring those little shreds of her beloved stories into the lives of others, for one night and one night alone.
Even if it cannot last.

With more stops to make, Shaa and Einheria leave the tiny apartment with a renewed sense of purpose. It was for situations like this that Shaa didn’t mind doing these runs for Nick pro bono. Too often as a member of the fighters guild he had to go beat up solders or monsters for rich people who could afford it. He liked the idea of just helping out someone who truly needed a leg up. Shaa had spent his childhood as an orphan, constantly under attack. He didn’t talk about it much but, he had been helped at key points in his life by strangers who didn’t need to. He liked to think they would be proud of him somehow. Not for the wanton destruction per se, but the other stuff at least. His adopted father Darius the Centaur would DEFINITELY have something to say about it.
Shaa was lost in thought a bit as they stepped back out into the street. Had he been paying better attention, he would have noticed the problem right away. As he feels he has been walking too long, he stops and looks around. His stomach drops. Ummm Snowy? He says with a slow drawl. Where is the cart?
They had only been gone a couple minutes. Sure this wasn’t the greatest neighborhood but surely…Good riddance! came a gruff voice from the apothecary. Ummm excuse me mam. I don’t suppose you saw a cart full of boxes here recently? Out of the apothecary stepped an elderly woman in a floral nightgown and slippers. Curlers in her hair and a scowl on her face, Shaa got the distinct feeling that this lady was not easily impressed by anyone or anything. Sure, did. It was right there, taking up space. Staying calm, Shaa continues the line of questions. Do you know what happened to it. Are ye deaf? I said it was just sitting there, taking up space. Dern inconsiderate if you ask me. Nearly called those useless guards to get off their pathetic duffs and come haul it away. Nearly did it I tell ya. But then my back started acting up and Mr Mittens was calling. Mr. Mittens? My baby drake obviously, don’t be daft. Anywho, I was just so upset. My friend Irene Mam, I’m sorry to interrupt but…the cart? The old woman looks a bit startled with the interruption of her explanation. That’s what I said, dern it! And that’s when those smelly kobolds showed up. Wait, What!
The old woman look a deep breath as she tried to regain some composure. It’s what I said dern it. I was taking care of Mr Mittens when those foul creatures showed up and took off with their cart. Shaa slapped himself in the face with frustration. That wasn’t their cart, that was MY cart. Which way did they go? The old woman remained unimpressed. Well I knew it. Smelly kobolds wouldn’t even own a cart like that. Too good for the likes of them. Just like I told Irene… Mam! Well no need to yell. They went where they always go. To that dingy tavern they haunt..The flea’s Itch..down that way.
Ughhh of course they went there. Ok thank you very much mam. You just keep that cart out of the street ya hooligans. Young people out at all hours of the night….The woman’s voice was trailing off as Shaa and Einheria took off down a dark alley. I know where it is, follow me. It doesn’t take long but they soon find themselves in front of The Fleas Itch. It was a watering hole den of illicit activity that smelled even worse than it looked. Sure enough, the cart was there with all the packages, parked in a side ally. They were about to grab it, when a pack of kobolds exited the bar with drinks in hand. Just where do you think you two are going? Sneered the first one who was obviously the leader.
They didn’t have time for this. As much as I would love to discuss this, we are on a very tight schedule. We will just be on our way. The kobold grinned wickedly. His motley crew laughed behind him. Oh dear sir. We didn’t mean to hold you up? We will just take our fee and you can be on your way. Fee? He said incredulously. Storage and delivery fee. It’s only fair. You stole our cart you sewer sniffing, back woods.., he stops himself seeing where this is going. He looks over at Einheria to see how she wants to handle it.

For all the fun and triumph that had come with the night's myriad battles, Einheria cannot help but start to grow quite sick of all of the obstacles being thrown their way.
It had been fun at first, assuming the role of a phantom thief like the ones in the books she so enjoys, envisioning herself and Sir Shaa as mysterious rogues of the night-- well, ah, perhaps Shaa had tossed any vestiges of mystery out of the window alongside some of the mercenaries earlier, but she digresses--, and then later waging a miniature war against a necromancer and his undead pawns. But this part of their mission was meant to be peaceful, meant to be dedicated to bringing joy to the children of the city, and her blood freezes with loathing as soon as they find their stolen cart and a cluster of kobolds demanding a fee for it.
Her eyes narrow, dark lashes only serving to emphasize the stark light of those lavender eyes, the rage spiking into slitted pupils as she summons her glaive once more, twirling the polearm and pointing it toward the group.
"I have beaten lesser men for lesser sins," she says coldly, slamming the pole into the ground and watching as ice once again branches over the cobblestone streets, blossoming to life beneath the kobolds' feet. [1] As they scramble to keep their footing, she clicks her heels together, ice skates emerging once more [2], her whole body strangely steady in the midst of the situation's seriousness. "You will have to... forgive my lack of hesitation."
She launches to life, whirling around behind the group and bringing the flat side of the blade of her glaive down over the skull of the leader-- not harshly enough to knock him out, but with enough force to stun him, sending him to the ice-touched earth beneath him. There is silence, and then there is panic, the rest of his lackeys starting to scamper off, but she is faster, guided forth by determination and a general exhaustion with the night spiraling out of control-- in no time at all, she's amassed a pile of stunned and slightly beaten kobolds before Shaa, her expression twisted into one of mere annoyance.
"Hmph," she huffs. "The only payment you shall receive from me is my mercy. You shall not stand in the way of us doing what is right, do you understand me?"
"U-Understood..."
"Good. Now, Sir Shaa, what shall we do?"

Shaa rubs his fuzzy chin and grabs the leader by the throat. What is your name? The Kobold squirms a bit defiantly. Shaa tightens his grip a bit to show he is not messing around. Randolph. Shaa slaps him in the face, making his nose go red. Randolf sir. That’s better. That is the question, what to ..do. Then Shaa got an idea. A simply awful idea. Well you all said you were in the delivery business right? Well you have put us behind schedule so I think it only fair you all help us catch up. Randolph looks confused as Shaa puts him down and starts pulling leather cargo straps from the cart.
One by one, Shaa straps the Kobolds, eight in total with Randolph the red nosed Kobold, being the ninth, to the front of the cart. Once they were all secured, Shaa checked his list again and showed it to Randolph. You know where this is? Randolph sniffed at him. Yeah, that’s on the other side of the fountain. Well we better get a move on then. We have had a long night and no more time to waste. I can’t believe we are doing this…. One of the other more drunken Kobolds cheers Yeah a cart ride! Shut up you idiots! It’s not fun if we are the ones doing the pulling! You were the one who made us pull it earlier and said it was fun. The drunken Kobold accused. It was fun…for me.
Shaa and Snowy climbed into the cart and cracked the leather straps. On Smelly! On Stinky! On Pukey and Itchy! On Oderous and Mangey! My name is Carl! On..Carl… The Kobold seemed oddly satisfied. On…the rest of you guys. Randolph, lead the way! Sure enough, they were on their way. Several people did double takes at the sight but could only rub their eyes and wonder if they had dreamed it. Despite their state, the Kobolds worked well together and moved quickly through dark back alleys and short cuts. Soon , they were at the second location. This time is was a small shack. The walls had been patched together with random boards and boxes. Several large holes could be seen.
Walking over to the shack, Shaa knocked gently on the door. Two small teifling children, a boy and a girl, answer the door. The small boy is missing one of his horns and has small bruises on his arms. The girls clothes are ragged and she does not look at them directly.

A second, unimpressed "hmph" leaves Einheria as she watches that rowdy leader of the kobold band cling to defiance, any last vestiges of patience she had been able to preserve well and truly having run thin. She taps her foot, glaive still held in hand as Shaa interrogates and contemplates about the pack of troublemakers, a sentry on standby with wrath on her mind, but it seems as though she will not need to raise her weapon once again. The aggravation on her face shifts readily into confusion and then mildly horrified amusement as she watches Shaa strap the kobold gang before the cart like a pack of deer, delightedly proclaiming that it's only fair they help the two of them catch up.
...Well, she cannot really argue with such logic. Einheria dismisses her glaive once more and goes to perch on the edge of the cart at Shaa's side, bursting out into a fit of giggles once more at the rather demeaning names Shaa assigns each and every one of them; oh, she should not be laughing, truly, but she cannot help it. It has been a long night and her mind is still just a bit fuzzy and Shaa's sense of humor appeals to her in a way she is still too tipsy to articulate.
And then they are off once more, through cobblestone streets and cramped alleys, into the recesses of the housing districts of Sol City, led to their target address: a ramshackle house that barely seems to be keeping itself together.
Einheria feels her heart break for a second time when the door opens to two small children.
"What do you want?" the boy asks, puffing up his shoulders to look bigger than he is, his tone forcibly sharp and snappy, expression twisted with far too much anger for a child to hold. Einheria stammers for a moment, unsure of what to do or to say, but she merely turns to fetch the boxes for the two of them and kneels before them, setting them on the ground.
"...we have a delivery," she says, voice soft, gentle. "We wish a sincere and open Merry Winter's Crown to Lucia and Gaius."
The boy's eyes are sharp, apprehensive, but he pulls the boxes into the house, giving a long look toward Shaa and Einheria-- his face is cold, but it is young, and no amount of narrowing his eyes and scowling at them can hide the way anxiety sits in his expression. He wields his face as though it is a shield, but he is young and a face can only do so much. There is a story here, but it is not easy to tell, and it is not one that could be settled in one night, so Einheria merely offers a weak little smile as she watches the boy move to squeeze his sister's hand, offering her comfort, a whisper not meant for her ears.
"...you shouldn't stick around," the boy says, looking back to the two of them, and that is that.
Einheria moves to settle back on the cart's edge as they wander away from the shack, the door long shut behind them, looking over to Shaa with worry in her gaze as they settle back into place, once again feeling sober and somber.
"...Do you know the final address, Sir Shaa?"

Yup, no problem. Got the address right here though I’m not familiar with it. Shaa shows the paper to Randolph. He squints his fuzzy nose as the paper and realization dawns on him. After a moment, he bursts out in horrible laughter. Hahaha ohhhhh yes. I know EXACTLY where that is and what it means. It means our little ride is over. Shaa scowled and pulled the Kobold closer. What do you mean by that? He pressed. That final address…is the address of the CITY JAIL! It’s absolutely crawling with police. You see this here, 4E? That’s the block and cell number. 4th Floor. Cell E. Break out the ale bub, you and the frosty lady are DONE. HAHAHA. Shaa punched the Kobold in the gut just hard enough to stop the laughter. Crap…CRAP! CRAP CRAP CRAP! To do so much, come so far and duff it now was unacceptable.
Shaa hops back into the cart and cracks the leather straps. Hey! To the jail, I’m sure you all know the way. You all may have seen some magic before, but you haven’t seen anything yet! Out of sheer morbid curiosity, the Kobolds complied. On an on they ran through the misty well worn streets until they eventually pull up to the front of the jail. Shaa starts to unstrap them. A couple even seemed sad the trip was over. Ok, you all just hang out here for a minute. Shaa pulls Snowy off to the side and in close.
Ok here’s the deal. You are delivering the last package. Shaa pulls the package out of the battered wooden cart and hands it to Snowy. You will have about 6 minutes or so to run in, get it in the cell somehow and beat feet out of there. 6 minutes. I will…be keeping the cops busy until then. Shaa gives her a big hug. This is it. Don’t screw up, I don’t want to have to break someone out of jail….again. Ehrrm. Just hide over there and wait for the sign. You’ll know it.
Shaa walks back over to the Kobolds and pulls them in close, whispering something. Two of them start laughing hysterically but Randolph was not pleased. No way! I am NOT. Shaa pulls him in close again. He starts making gestures with his hands that imply breaking and bending things into uncomfortable shapes. After some convincing, everyone seems on board. I will get you for this stupid Minotaur…. Get in line.
All of the Kobolds line up shoulder to shoulder in front of the station. Shaa runs over to the corner of the building and waves to the group as well as to Snowy to get ready. Stamping several times on the ground, a series of massive tremors start shaking the building. Screams and breaking glass can be heard coming from inside. Sure enough, a large cadre of cops pour out of the building only to find the line of Kobolds standing there. At the front, was the elf detective from earlier. Just what in the name of Solara is going on here! The kobolds look at each other, then at the cops. Suddenly they turn around, pull their pants down and group moon the entire station. The cops start laughing while others start shouting telling the kobolds to desist immediately. The respond by slapping their own and each others naked butts while starting to sing and recite rude versions of holiday carols as loudly as possible.
As soon as the cops are after them, they pull up their pants and run haphazardly into the night, cops close behind. A small group, including the elf remain on the steps. He looks around and sees Shaa standing at the corner of the building looking guilty as sin. Hey! You are that Minotaur from earlier with the kids! Shaa just looks at him and goes Mooooo? The infuriated elf points at him and screams GET HIM! Shaa goes wide eyed and takes off down the street, the band of cops behind him. Snowy is now alone in the alley in front of a seemingly empty jail.

A jailbreak.
This was the final mission of the night: a jailbreak. Only instead of breaking someone out of jail, she was... breaking into jail to make a delivery, and then leaving as normal, all over the course of a mere six minutes. Such a thing seemed impossible and monumental, and yet...
So had most of the things she had achieved on this very night. She and Shaa had run through the streets of Sol City and stolen from a warehouse, defeated mercenaries, defended their prize from the caroling undead without losing a single shred of what they'd obtained, and managed to get in two deliveries on top of it all. Before this night, Einheria had but a few achievements to her name, all of them still worth mentioning, but hardly anything as catastrophically chaotic as this-- this marked the first night she had ever defied the law for the sake of others, and it felt truly wonderful. It feels truly wonderful, and as terrifying and vast as everything feels, this, too, is something she knows she must do.
As soon as Shaa gives her her instructions, the package, and an encouraging hug to accompany it all, a surge of determination floods over Einheria once more. She smiles up at him, clicking her heels together once more [1], and gets into position.
The tremors that resound around the building are quick, calling a line of guards to action immediately; Einheria does not hesitate, quick to skate in around the side to slip in through the entrance, rushing through the doors sequestering the cell blocks away. She flits about as quickly as possible, searching for the stairwell, immediately vaulting herself up the flights of stairs as soon as she finds it; oh, by the time she reaches the fourth floor, she's started getting a bit dizzy, but what does it matter? She has a mission and only so much time to complete it...!
4E-- 4E, fourth floor, cell E. There is A, then B...
An anxious hum spills from Einheria's lips as she whips around the corner, finally finding Cell E-- within it sits a figure who does not look at her, not at first, their figure framed in shadow. It is only after her skates skid to a stop that they glance back, two scarlet eyes fixing on her, apprehension shadowing the edges.
They are certainly young-- too young for jail, to be sure. Auburn hair hangs down their shoulders, and a long scar mars their sickly pale face. Their nails are bitten down, their lips drawn in a tight line, indifference painted into every angle of their body. They stare at Einheria with what could be curiosity and what could be disdain-- it is hard to say with the way they wear their expressions.
"...you're not one of the guards," they rasp, voice edged with interest.
"A-Ah, no," Einheria says, shaking her head. "I am here with a delivery for a... a Valentine?"
"...that's me. Who from?"
"The... Red Rogues."
"Rogues? Red Rogues? You're alone up here, and you ain't wearing a lot of red."
"It's... merely to fall in line with the legend," Einheria says, perhaps a little tersely. She does not know how much time has passed, but oh, she must be running low-- she kneels forward, squeezing the mercifully-smaller package between the bars of the cell, managing a feeble smile. "...Merry Winter's Crown."
Valentine, as they seemed to be named, observes the box with interest, tilting their head as they look it over. "You look more like a snow angel than a Red Rogue. A frost fairy. Really, you could've worn at least a little bit of red... but... thank you."
And once again, that is that-- but the end of the conversation comes with the distant sound of stomping feet, the sign that the guards have re-entered and that Einheria's one way out has been sealed off. All but one.
There is a little trinket she has on hand for emergencies, for ridiculous decisions she might need to make-- a potion, sealed in cold crystal, meant to heal any injuries she should sustain. And as Einheria skates over to the window and stares down at the kind of jump that lies before her, she knows that she will need it.
She takes a deep breath, and then she kicks the shielded glass once, then twice, and then a third time until it shatters around her foot.
And then Einheria Idunn Vaetki climbs through the window, and she lets herself jump.

Shaa could hear the hard footsteps slap the pavement behind him as he ran through the dark alley ways of the city. Get back here right now! The irony of a Minotaur being chased through a maze of alleyways was not lost on him. In a lot ways, it was pretty funny. Elf or not, nobody beats a Minotaur in a maze and of the Minotaur maze runners, Shaa was one of the best. But this race was not about winning, it was about stalling for time. He needed to run fast enough not to get caught but not so fast that they would give up the chase. It’s just 6 minutes. An easy mile run. Easy.
When I catch you, I am going to put you in jail forever! And when you die, I’m going to take your bones and put them in jail. And when your bones turn to dust, you know what I am going to do? I am going to put them into cement…AND MAKE A JAIL! If he didn’t know any better, he was starting to think the Elf cop was not having as much fun as he was. Shaa grabs a random garbage can and tosses it behind himself and right into the faces of the pursuing officers. Death! Death and rot! Demon! What? Does that mean we are not going out for drinks later? I feel we’ve gotten so close. Shaa vaults over some broken furniture, takes a hard turn, tossing more garbage behind him.
Suddenly, the streets seemed more familiar. This was right behind…Shaa! Buddy! Did you bring me back my cart in one piece? Oh no! Jack! Horrible timing! Yeah man, cart is fine. It’s down at the jail. Jack gets an ugly look with a grimace. JAIL! What’s it doing down at the jail? As the cops turn the corner, Jack is startled and starts to fidget. Halt you two! The two look at each other for only a moment, and then the chase continues.
Look man, I learned a long time ago not to ask questions with you but, the cops? Shaa wasn’t sure what to say. Umm I’m really sorry man, I didn’t want to get you involved. Accomplices? You are all going down! Shaa turns around and summons a wall. You are not going to get away with this! Kinda looks like it though right? Shaa and Jake take off down the ally

It does not hurt as much as she expects.
It is more like flight than falling, really; Einheria closes her eyes as soon as solid ground no longer settles beneath her feet, as soon as she leaps from the windowsill in a shower of shimmering glass, not wanting to watch the ground get closer and closer to her as she hurtles toward it. If she keeps her eyes squeezed shut and braces herself, then it will seem less real, and she will be able to bounce back faster, patch herself up, and catch up with Shaa so they can finally call this entire wild night a wild success.
There is a moment of pain and a few sickening noises, but those elicit more of a wince from her than the sensation of the impact itself; it really does not hurt as much as she expected it to, really, to hit the ground from so far up. A hoarse cry of pain does pull itself from her lips, her legs protesting as she tries to move them, and so she's quick to reach for the pendant dangling from the chain at her throat, effortlessly splitting the fragile glass with her nail and letting the ice water burst free, a pleasant chill settling over her body as it patches itself up, skin and bone and muscle settling into place as though it was never hurt to begin with, as though she had not, in fact, just recklessly leapt from the fourth floor of a prison without even a second thought about it. [1] Einheria manages one shaky inhale before rising to her feet, testing the stability of her legs, and, satisfied with the fact that she will not crumble and fall, quickly skates off once more.
She circles around to the side where the cart remains, only to find it unattended to-- there is no sign of Shaa to be found. Goodness, was he still running loose in the city, with the guard force in hot pursuit? Well, that wouldn't do! She would have to go and help! She swivels around and skates off, ready to chase the sounds of chaos that may lead her back to Shaa, hoping that all is well and that he is quite alright.
Considering that all she has to do is chase noise and traces of chaos, finding him is not difficult.
He is sequestered on the other side of a wall in an alley, in the midst of running with the man from earlier-- oh, Jack! She brightens as soon as she sees them both, offering a wave as she moves to skate beside them, keeping an even pace by their side.
"Sir Shaa! I successfully delivered the last package!" she chimes brightly, eyes glinting even as they run. "I had to leap from the window to escape, but I did it!"

Beams of light started to seep through the cracks in the worn city walls. Morning was finally starting to break and the light stung the Minotaur’ deeply sleep filled eyes. Large yawns cracked his face as he and Jack leaned against the damp stone. From the side, Shaa heard the sliding of ice as Einheria skated up to them, triumphant in her mission.
Heeeyyy. So mission complete is it? He rubbed his fatigue filled muscles but smiled the smile of a winner. Just what have you two been up to tonight? Shaa smiled and looked over at Snowy with a knowing grin. Indeed what had they been up to tonight. Shaa made a mental note to ask her who was in the jail cell later. In the end, it didn’t really matter too much. Shaa trusted Nick that, whomever it was, was in need of some hope and cheer. Shaa snorted a bit thinking about the various people they had run into this evening that would need bandages and healing spells.
Shaa described to Jake the location of the cart. After saying their goodbyes, Shaa invited Snowy to join him for breakfast. There was a little bakery that he knew whose muffins should be coming out of the oven just about now. A warm muffin, to celebrate the holiday.
