Blue Raspberry stumbled backward, away from Ceena, the hook still sticking into the side of their neck and poking out of the front. It hurt! A trickle of blue liquid ran down from either hole in their neck, down their front. Thankfully the ooze equivalent to bleeding wasn't too bad, the hook itself working to staunch the flow as it was still embedded in the wound. Blue glared at Ceena angrily as she yelled at them, asking what the hell they were.
"A completely normal knight!" they replied before hearing Astrid call out that they had to leave.
They started to turn to leave, but suddenly Ceena shouted out as well. Blue glanced back down at her to see something in her hand that she was trying to shove straight into Blue Raspberry's stomach. Nuh-uh, this crazy lady had force fed this ooze twice already, they wouldn't let her do it a third time! The slimy blue tail behind them flicked forward and smacked the explosive high into the air and Blue turned to run away toward Astrid.
The explosive went almost straight up into the air, spinning around, the sizzling wick shortening as it went. Just as it reached the climax of its arc and started to fall back down, the wick vanished entirely and...
BOOM!
The small explosive ornament didn't cause a gigantic explosion, but it was loud and extremely visible, going off in the air like a firework that drew all the guards' attention for a moment.
Blue Raspberry ran over to Astrid and dropped to all fours, their form shifting into that of a big, blue wolf that, somehow, the onesie still fit on. Their slimy tail changed into the fluffy tail of a wolf and stuck out of the open butt flap. Ceena's hook was engulfed and stored and Astrid's gauntlets were extinguished and stored again as well. Thankfully, the freezing effect of the poison had subsided so the warmth of the flaming gauntlets weren't needed anymore. Blue Wolfberry waited for Astrid to climb on before making a run for the first exit they could find, a static hum around them.

The two at odds shout, and then Astrid sees one of the explosives launch into the air. She takes cover just as it goes off above them, a hail of fire and shrapnel. The guards shout in the distance and descend upon the area, and when Astrid glances out, Blue Raspberry runs over in wolf form. She quickly scrambles on their back, fretting over the ooze's status. They have to go!
Guards rush over and see the surprising scene. Ceena in a fox onesie missing most of the lower half of her leg and a massive wolf also in a onesie with a girl on its back. The guards raise their crossbows, shouting to try to corner the massive beast. A hail of crossbow bolts narrowly misses the escaping duo, striking crates as the wolf rounds a corner out of sight. As they approach a closed door, Astrid flings her hammer at it full force and smashes it open, giving Blue Raspberry a clear route to escape before the guards close in on them. The hammer flies back into her hand as they rush away.
Shouting angrily, Ceena demands the guards capture them. "They're getting away! Don't let them!" But to her surprise, crossbows turn on her as well. "What are you doing?! I'm on your side! They did this! Kill them, or at least be useful enough to let me do it!"
"You're in the rogues' costumes!" the commander shouts, kicking her crossbow away, though it doesn't go far with the tether. "Hands in the air!"
"I stole one of their costumes to sneak around!" Ceena says, absolutely losing her cool in the situation. She rips open a pouch and shows the guards the bounty contract for hunting the red rogues. "I was doing what you hired me for. Let me kill them!"
With recognition on his face, the guard commander grows angry. "We didn't hire you to kill, we hired you to capture!"
"Sir, she's sustained massive injuries. I don't know how she's functioning right now," one of the guards says, anxiously looking at the pooling blood and exposed bones.
Irritated, the commander directs his men to clear the warehouse and find the big wolf and the girl with it. Then he looks at Ceena. "Get her to a medical professional. Then take her in for questioning."
The last thing Astrid and Blue Raspberry hear leaving the warehouse and escaping out into the docks is Ceena's enraged screaming. There are guards crawling in every street and alley. Most are shocked by the sight of a girl riding a big wolf and it takes a moment for them to react and realize they need to give chase.
"We've gotta find a place ta lay low fer a bit," Astrid says tiredly. Doing that as a girl with a bloody owl costume riding a big blue wolf won't make that too easy.

Blue Wolfberry ran through the streets, looking for somewhere low to lie. Thankfully, they were able to run much faster than the guards in their wolf form and the guards were pretty noisy in their metal armor. Unfortunately, the guards were swarming the place! Just about every corner they turned, more guards were visible. There was just nowhere close to hide. And then, Blue saw the perfect place! The lowest place around the docks! The ocean!
The big blue wolf made a break for the water, running past guards who scrambled in surprise when they saw them. Some guards managed to pull themself together fast enough to pull out weapons and give chase. One guard pulled a crossbow and took a shot at the wolf, but the bolt was knocked off course thanks to the field of static electricity buzzing around them. The guards with swords and shields couldn't keep up, and soon the wolf leapt off the wooden boards of the dock and dove straight into the water with Astrid clinging to their back.
Under the water, Blue Raspberry was perfectly fine, able to breathe like a frog. Their form shifted back into their humanoid form, but this time they had their long tail which was now complete with fins, and their hands had blue webbing between the fingers. And, of course, they still had their onesie on minus the boots to allow their blue, flipper-like feet to help them swim through the water faster. With Astrid on their back, Blue swam away from shore beneath the water for as far as they could, as fast as they could until Astrid showed she needed air. They swam back to the surface, Blue treading water and lending Astrid a shoulder to keep herself above the waves.
"Are you okay? Sorry, this was the lowest place I could find..." Blue apologized and looked around. They had managed to get a decent distance from the docks, but they might still be seen if anyone looked out over the water for them. It'd be a little difficult to see them since if was dark out, but it was still possible. The guards definitely saw them jump into the water. "Hold on." Blue let Astrid hold onto their back and swam toward land at a diagonal, not wanting to go directly back to the docks, but not wanting to make Astrid stay in the water either. "I got a lot better at swimming since we went on that boat together! I practiced a lot, swimming in the ocean. Haven't seen the Charcoal Burnt Dice again though."

When she said "lie low," Astrid did not expect underwater to be the first conclusion Blue Raspberry would jump to.
But here they are, swimming underwater. Granted, it's not a place the guards will follow easily, and it's certainly the last place anyone would expect to look for a couple of vigilante fugitives, so Blue gets some points for thinking outside of the box (as if they ever do anything else). Still, Astrid was not expecting it, and she just barely got a breath in before the two of them took a deep dive. She's certainly glad she had her goggles on for this so the salt water doesn't impede her ability to see. It's dark beneath the surface with only stray moonbeams breaking through.
It doesn't take long for her to pat Blue Raspberry's shoulder and motion toward the surface when she needs a breath. Luckily, they swim up quickly and break the surface in the bay. Astrid takes a big breath or two of ten, trying to catch up with the excitement of the evening. She rests her chin on her arm, wrapped around Blue Raspberry's neck, and finally lets out a despondent sigh.
"Well... the guards found the warehouse, we both got banged up, an' we lost all the stuff we took," she says, tired and defeated. "Looks like this Winter's Crown adventure's a bust... All that work, and we got nothin' ta show fer it. We should just go home... We ain't helpin' no one out here like this." This year is Astrid's first Winter's Crown off the streets, and she was really looking forward to giving back to the people who are less fortunate. She spent years on the streets jealously watching families and friends give gifts to each other. Now that she's in a position to be able to help others, she failed. Utterly. Fantastically. Miserably.
The chill of the water seeps into her bones, pulling her out of her stupor. "L-Let's get goin'. It's c-cold."

Blue Merberry stepped onto land with a wet slap, their feet flippers smacking against the flagstone. They shook their whole body like a dog, even though they weren't in the form of a wolf at the moment, and sent a spray of water in every direction, their tail flicking a line of water across the ground behind them. They smiled, happy to have gotten away from the guards, but their smile faded as they saw Astrid shivering and dripping wet. Woops. They hadn't really thought it through when they'd dove into the water, forgetting it would be cold and uncomfortable for their friend.
Blue pulled out the red gauntlets from their stomach and handed them to Astrid, hopefully she could use them to warm herself up a bit like they had during the fight. But, she seemed more than just a bit cold. She seemed downright sad at everything that had happened, saying everything had been a bust and that they'd gotten banged up. Only now did Blue realize that their throat and arm still had a slight trickle of blue liquid bleeding from them, their wounds still there. They stood still for a moment and made the wounds close before looking at Astrid. Their smile returned as they got an idea.
"Well, I dunno if I'd say we got nothin'!" Blue tried their best to cheer her up. They pat their stomach a few times as they spoke. "We still got all that stuff for your da, Cantio! That's something, right?" they said cheerily.
Blue pulled out a towel and handed it to Astrid to dry off a bit, followed by a blanket which they threw over her shoulders, and finally they handed her a cup of blue liquid, one they'd given her before to help her feel more energized when they'd fought displacer beasts together. It felt like forever ago, but the nostalgic, raspberry-scented drink was exactly the same as it had been then.
"Let's get out of here! Can't give this stuff to Cantio if we get got by those guards, right?" Blue said before their form shifted back into the equally if not more nostalgic form of a big, blue wolf and lied down in front of Astrid for her to climb onto before speeding off into the night.

Shivering, Astrid takes her gauntlets from Blue Raspberry and slips them on over her forearms. Shakily bumping her fists together, flames wreathe her arms and provide a source of warmth for them both. She's grateful for the towel so she can dry off and for the blanket. Her onesie is drenched, and that will take a while. Maybe they'll find somewhere for her to change into fresh clothes. The saltwater helped wash some of the blood stains out of it, but they're still quite pink around the holes torn from bolts. What's Cantio going to say about this?
It's certainly unlike her to feel so down and defeated. She doesn't particularly like feeling like this. So when Blue Raspberry offers a smile and a solution. "Yeah... We do have stuff fer Cantio, don't we?" She pulls the blanket around herself tighter. "Well, I guess fer Winter's Crown, these two Rogues are breakin' inta their own house." Taking the flask, Astrid drinks it, feeling full and warm inside, then she climbs on the back of Blue Wolfeberry and the two of them rush off into the night.
